Jack and his two sisters, Fiona and Amelia, have watched their older brother, Jacknell, grow from a young King placed on the throne too early to a cruel man who rules Camaday through fear.
Fiona, beset by anxiety, is only seen as a pawn for Jacknell to create an alliance with Gredoria or Emaray. Charlotte, who ends up at the Castle after escaping a brothel she was sold to, befriends Fiona. Jack, used to going from one woman to the next, realizes Charlotte isn’t one he can just bed and move on. But for the first time, he wants more with a woman.
When war with Emaray starts, Jack has to leave his sister and the first woman he has true affection for. Jacknell’s cruelty grows, leading to the death of his citizens. For the first time, Jack begins to think that the kingdom would be better off without his brother ruling it.
But the only way is if Jacknel dies.
Jack’s choices could cost him everything, even his life, or it could lead to the salvation of the kingdom, and the people he loves most. Fiona and Charlotte have to find strength they didn’t know they had in them to guide their own. Without all three of them, Camaday could end up with a King worse than Jacknell.
Wow, this had me hooked from start and all the way through. Its about Jack, his sister Fiona, and his love interest, Charlotte. Jack's a bit of a womanizer until Charlotte catches his heart. A war starts with the kingdom next door when Caleb tries to hurt the Princess Fiona. There's some twists and turns that up the interest. The action scenes were amazing.
I like how north America is used but changed and split into kingdoms. Charlotte seems a bit weak at first, and but she grows as a character. Fiona is not a doormat either. She certainly shows her strength as the story goes on. I like how she has anxiety, but it doesn't make her weak. To see it accurately portrayed without negative stereotyping was a nice change. Anxiety doesn't = helpless. The small sexuality aspect was well-done too.
Jack grows too, and doesn't seem to be hardened by war into a cruel, but matured and strengthened. I can't wait to see more of him and the man he grows into. I'll definitely be reading the next book in the series. I don't want to put spoilers, but the epilog and sneak peek really sold it for me.
Jacknell rules over the land of Camaday with his brother Jack and sisters Fiona and Amelia by his side. Jack is a bit of a carefree womaniser until he meets Charlotte and soon realises he is in love. However after a fortune teller tells them of a bleak future and a war starts with the neighbouring country that love has to be put on hold as Jacknell and Jack have to take their army to fight. Jacknell is a cruel king though and after he is killed Jack has to step up to rule the country but first he has to stop the war and save his sisters and Charlotte from dangerous men who have taken over his castle. This is well written and the fight scenes were spectacular. I like the alternative Earth element of it and I loved how it was set in an alternative North America rules by kings and queens. It dealt with anxiety issues which I was pleasantly surprised with. And it even dealt with sexuality in a very subtle way. I fully recommend reading this
I enjoyed this very much. I admit I had my doubts when it was labeled romance. The blurb and the cover didn’t give me that impression. I’m glad I was wrong. I enjoyed the healthy mix of sibling love, friendship, suspense, and of course, love.
I like it when there are clear good guys (of both genders) and clearly bad ones. These kingdoms are going around fighting wars with each other, and the royal family has to manage and live with the possibilities of being forced to marry against one's will. Better to just hope the men go off, with their swords and armor, and settle the thing for good. Which they do, pretty much. It's interesting and moves along well.
Jack’s Day is a riveting action-packed adventure entwined with multifaceted characters struggling through conflicts while finding love. Ruling with integrity and compassion verses heavy-handed cruelty sets the stage for Jack’s family to find their way through the darkness that threatens to consume their kingdom. Julie Mannino has crafted an outstanding novel leaving the reader wanting more in this series about an Alternate Earth. Readers will rejoice in the struggles and victories in Chloe’s Purpose that continues this family saga.
An action-packed adventure book that keeps the reader intrigued. The female character Charlotte escapes from a brothel and meets Princess Fiona, who would soon be wed to a royal prince. Fiona's brother Jack would not let the abusive brute marry his sister. Also Jack realises he is in love with Charlotte. However, a war starts with the neighbouring country and situation changes. The way Jack deals with the situation forms the latter part of the story. The gripping storyline and the multitude of characters makes it a great read!
This took me some time to read, but it was a delight to read. From the beginning until the end. Jack, and all his siblings all played such an important role in the book. But the dilemma is losing his brother! I love stories on when there is a kingdom and so much backstabbing and secrets to know about along the way. It was well written, and easy to follow. I am not going to say much. But if you are a fan of fantasy then I recommend this book! I cannot wait to read more from this author.
From the beginning, I was drawn into Jack's Day - I could really connect with each character and even got angry at Jacknell on Fiona and the rest of the family's behalf. I loved the way Fiona and Charlotte met, it really highlighted solidarity between and amongst women. The story had me right through the book. This author has a lovely writing style that really draws in the reader and keeps them captivated until the end. A must-read.
this was a well done fantasy novel, I enjoyed the use of an alternate earth. The characters were well done and I enjoyed the storyline.. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book reminds me a lot of the Princess Bride. The book is a fast paced, story.that is an action packed medieval adventure and is one that will keep readers turning the pages and engaging with a myriad of characters and enjoying the intriguing plot. .
I read all of the M/M romance by this author, and figured I'd read these too. I couldn't help but wish Jack was gay, lol, especially since he was so smooth with the ladies. But this was a sweet romance and action story. I liked the way Jacknell was handled too, and I'll read the rest.
Alternate Earth, good guys, bad guys, sword fights amongst other things - what more do you need in a story?? This is a riveting journey that I have had the pleasure to immerse myself in!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Jack was so likeable and Charlotte was lovely. Coming from a very disadvantaged background, she finds herself in a castle and not long after she realises Jack seems to like her and she him. But other forces are at play, Jacknell has turned in to a tyrant of a king and seems to think of nothing more than power and wealth, even going so far as to settling a marriage between his sister and an abusive prince. But Fiona is not taking it lying down and fights to be heard. Unfortunately this causes conflict between the lands and Charlotte risks losing Jack. But as the war progresses, Charlotte has to find Jack and warn him of a danger he knows nothing about. Meanwhile a new warrior princess is on the scene and she seems to like Jack too.
The story is of sibling tension and knowing what is right for their kingdom in the long run. Three of the four brothers and sisters dislike the ruling of the kingdom and want to actively change this. Outside of this, each sibling have their own individual issues, for example love interests. The story feels like an attack against Caleb as well, not only against Jacknell and the kingdom's wellbeing.
I received a free copy and am leaving a review voluntarily. Thank you to VRO and author.
This was quite good. I felt like everyone meshed pretty well as a whole. I love it when siblings get along well and while romance was an aspect (with Charlotte I mean, I liked how Jack and his sisters relationship (Fiona and Amelia) was well done.
Amelia kinda cracked me up. I could totally see my sister playing a violin the halls at the buttcrack of dawn.
Quick, thorough, well-written and sexy, this foray into fantasy lives up to every expectation all the way to its satisfying conclusion. Ms. Mannino delivers excellent prose, original plot and delightful brain candy.
