Battling demons, addiction and grief, Eden is in a downward spiral with no way out. Tensions are rising. Her prophecy is in ruins, and her world is on the precipice of war.

But a deal comes with a catch…
…it also comes with an ex.
Accept the deal. Don’t fall in love. Get home to Eden.
Simple, right?
You’ll come for the heartache, but stay for true love because love is stronger than fate…
…isn’t it?
Get it now.
This is the epic conclusion to the Eden East YA fantasy series. If you like soul mates, second chances, redemption, and fate, you’ll love the thrilling conclusion to Sacha Black’s Eden East novels.
Sacha Black is an author, rebel podcaster, and professional speaker.
She has five obsessions; words, expensive shoes, conspiracy theories, self-improvement, and breaking the rules.
Sacha writes books about people with magical powers and other books about the art of writing.
When she’s not writing, she can be found laughing inappropriately loud, sniffing musty old books, fangirling film and TV soundtracks, or thinking up new ways to break the rules.
She lives in Cambridgeshire, England, with her wife and genius, giant of a son.
Guys. I. Cannot. I am trying to write this with zero spoilers… so here we go.
From page one, I was IN IT. I have always been a HUGE supporter of details but Sacha… the way she does the details hits in a way that paints not just a picture but a feeling. I could feel the panic, the burning, the eventual emptiness. I could feel the determination, the desire… all of it. I could see it on the character’s faces, but I could feel it in my chest in a way that left a lump in my throat.
Sacha has a handle on these characters and their… well… character? Lol. Everyone has developed a personality throughout this series and even in the midst of the chaos and emotion of everything going on in this book (remember I’m trying not to spoil anything!) everyone stays true to their character. Of course we see growth and changes… no one would be unchanged by everything that has happened. But it’s still Eden. Still our sweet little cinnamon roll Kato. Still Trey. And you know what takes even that to a-whole-nother level in this book? These characters that we have come to know have their flaws. There is no perfect little bow to tie these characters up in. And in their imperfections they are wonderful. And THAT is Sacha’s gift in this book. The way she takes these characters that we know and shows us their dirty side. Shows us their weaknesses and their mistakes and their flaws… and we go through and grow through them with them. It is fantastic.
To the details. READ THE FIRST TWO BOOKS AGAIN!! I promise it’s worth it. Even if you think that you remember everything. Read them. There are little things here and there that come up and when you get to them you’re like AH HA!!! It is extremely satisfying. Promise. The way she portrays loss and addiction and all the negatives and positives in life? It’s real. Fantasy so often loses itself strictly in the fantastical… but in this there is just SO much that works alongside the realities of life and I live for it.
As for the writing, she gives us lines like, “A heart full of shadows and a soul full of scars” … D U D E … what?! Come on with those one liners… I can’t.
And… here’s a small spoiler… there is a new character that I am in LOVE with. 10/10 on him, Sacha. He is everything.
I have been waiting and waiting for this book to drop, and finally, Sacha Black has finished it! I was blessed to be part of an arc team, so I got to read it before release. Having left the end of book two with the death of her balancer, Trey and the return of Victor, his murderer, Eden's life is in a quandary. She should be leading her people as Fallon East, but, injured, both physically and emotionally, she can't. She finds herself being healed by the rebels who she shouldn't be with at all and relying heavily on Kato, Trey's brother. So much goes on within this book, told from the viewpoints of both Eden and Trey, who is dead, to everyone else, but actually struggling to come back to Trutinor, as he is trapped in Obex. There's blood and gore, in fact, I could smell the rotting flesh at times, during battle scenes, but there is also passion, hot, fiery feelings, flowing through, between people who shouldn't be feeding these things, as well as those who should. I don't want to give anything away, but what a twisted web Black has weaved, in order to conclude a fantastic series. I think this series was one of my first YA series, and I am so honoured to be able to have read it from start to finish!
How do you destroy a living god who not only holds your world together, but holds sway over everyone’s lives?
Eden has lost her soul mate and is losing herself to mind numbing depression. She can’t focus on living, let alone winning such a battle.
Trey is dead. Or at least, something almost like it. Can he make a bargain with a dead god to return to life and his soul mate?
Where ‘Keepers’ started the series with an innocent, almost superficial view of Eden’s world and surroundings, ‘Trey’ finishes with a more cynical one, seeing and feeling things more deeply.
Her descent into depression, after Trey’s death, isn’t belaboured, but paced well. It Needs to be deep and painful, and it is. It’s almost harrowing to experience the lengths she goes to to try and avoid her pain.
The descriptions, of both the surroundings and emotions, are sharp, visceral, honest and mirror the changes within Eden’s life, pulling in multiple senses to really breathe life into them.
And the descriptions of the demons - dear god, I think we need to schedule the author for an exorcism!
When I read the final battle scene I thought of the finale of Harry Potter, and then thought, ‘Nope, this beats that scene hands down!!’
If you’ve been waiting to find out the fate of all Eden holds dear then get this now! If you haven’t stepped into the world of Eden East, grab a copy of Keepers, and Victor, and then join us here for the shattering finale!
(I received an advance copy from the author. This is my honest review).
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I’ve been waiting to read this book. And it was so worth it.
The puzzle pieces all come together and the final result is just a masterpiece. Beautifully written prose and characters, I especially loved that the actions and emotions of the characters feel authentic and as a reader you understand and empathise with them.
I love all the different relationship dynamics of this book, a rollercoaster from start to finish.
I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. All opinion are honest and my own.
The final book in the Eden East trilogy has been a long time coming. I'm glad to have received an ARC from the author. I'm also happy I was able to re-read Keepers and Victor to help dive back into the world of Trutinor. However, I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did the other two.
The world is still great. It's well done and explained easily, especially if you've read the first two books. What I had the most trouble with for this book were the characters.
Trey is over 450 pages long, considerably longer than the first two books. For about the first 65% or so of the book, Eden is grieving and self-destruction. Don't get me wrong - this was done well, and I understood why she was like that. But it lasted far too long for me and got old quickly.
Meanwhile, this book was written differently than the other two. The chapters alternate between Eden's POV and another character's POV. I won't say much else due to spoilers, but I was much more interested in the other POV than Eden's. She was beginning to get on my nerves.
The character development just didn't do it for me this time around. However, I enjoyed everything else about the book. The ending was satisfying and an excellent wrap-up to a great trilogy.
The conclusion to The Eden East series has been four years in the making and for me it was worth the wait.
I was so worried at how easily I would be able to slip into this world after such a long hiatus, but it all came flooding back and I was just as invested as I had been so many years ago.
I love YA fantasy and the author did a great job of creating a new and exciting world of characters to meet and fall in love with in this series.
My only "complaint" would be the abrupt and kind of anticlimactic loss of one of the new characters we are introduced to in this book. It was a moment that should have been heart wrenching but seemed convenient and left me kind of like, "huh...".
Thank you so much to Sacha for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. Also I am so sorry for not getting this read and reviewed prior to release on April 28th. I hope you'll forgive me. ❤️
I received Trey by Sacha Black through BookFunnel. In this book Eden is on a downward spiral with no way out. Her prophecy is in ruins and her world is on the precipice of war. She needs help. Meanwhile Trey is dead, he thinks, yet his wounds heal and demons can smell life on him. Does that mean he can get home? The Last Fallon things so and offers him a deal he can't refuse. Is true love stronger than fate? I enjoyed reading and I think others would too. This book is available on Amazon
This third book in the series follows Trey in his afterlife after he was murdered! The story is filled with magic and mayhem with some deceptive characters and twists. An interesting read! I received a free copy of the book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
I truly enjoyed this whole series! The writing and story development had a clear progression through the books. Many times with YA series I find that they flatline after book 1 or 2, but this trilogy got better with each book. Eden's growth through the books was wonderful and realistic. There was plenty of action and comedy and cursing. I also really enjoyed the dual perspectives with the news updates peppered in; they helped with the flow in the beginning when the pace was slower. Overall, a very strong finish to a very compelling story.
