Eve
Everyone knows the story of Adam and Eve, right?
Think again.
Millenia after leaving Adam and the garden of Eden, Eve is still looking for the elusive great love of her life. She’s seen it all and tried practically everything to find the one. But he’s still alluding her. Maybe she’s destined to be alone; perhaps it’s what she deserves after everything that happened.
Despite never finding that perfect person, she is by no means alone. Eve has her rag-tag bunch of loyal girlfriends, who’ve been there for her through thick and thin. She also has Sully, a confident and sexy-as-sin shadow demon who always has her back.
Yet, Eve wants more from life.
Is her loneliness about to come to an end when a hunky new man strides into her life? He’s everything she wants in a partner, and the connection between them is instant. But is he too good to be true? Is Eve’s life about to change for good, or will she get more than she bargained?

Eve is a fun and imaginative twist on one of the oldest stories around, taking the familiar tale of Adam and Eve and giving it a completely different direction. 🍎✨
I really enjoyed the idea of Eve living for millennia after leaving the Garden of Eden while still searching for the one thing she hasn't managed to find, her great love. After centuries of experiences and countless attempts at finding the right person, it's easy to understand why she's beginning to wonder whether she's simply destined to be alone.
Thankfully, Eve isn't truly alone. Her group of loyal girlfriends brings plenty of warmth and friendship to the story, and I loved the idea of these women standing beside her through everything life—l and immortality throws at them.
Then there's Sully, her shadow demon companion, who adds another supernatural layer to the story. His loyalty and presence give Eve someone she can rely on while she navigates yet another unexpected chapter of her life.
When a mysterious new man enters the picture, everything changes. The instant connection makes Eve wonder if she has finally found what she's been searching for, but the lingering question of whether he's really as perfect as he seems keeps the story interesting.
What I enjoyed most is that Eve's journey isn't just about romance. It's also about loneliness, friendship, second chances, and wondering whether the mistakes of your past have to determine your future.
Eve is an entertaining paranormal romance with a creative mythology, an intriguing heroine, supernatural characters, friendship, mystery, and plenty of questions about what happens when an immortal woman finally gets another chance at happiness.
If you enjoy paranormal romance, mythology retellings, immortal characters, supernatural mysteries, strong friendships, and unexpected twists, this sounds like a fun addition to your TBR. 🍎🖤📚

A Beautiful Addition to the Dark Desires World
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you found yourself captivated by the intensity of the Dark Desires trilogy, Eve by M.L. Mountford is an absolute must-read. This novella serves as a spin-off that breathes even more life into an already rich world.
Why This Novella Works:
What I loved most was the depth this adds to the original trilogy. It doesn’t just feel like a "deleted scene"; it feels like a missing piece of a puzzle that makes the overarching narrative feel more complete and emotionally resonant.
Mountford excels at stripping back the layers of her characters. In Eve, we get a closer look at the motivations and vulnerabilities that drive the darker aspects of the main series.
The prose remains as evocative and moody as ever. It captures that specific "Dark Desires" tension perfectly, keeping you hooked from the first page to the last.
The only reason I’m giving this four stars instead of five is simply because I wanted more. As a novella, it’s a quick burn, and while it’s incredibly satisfying, the glimpse it provides into this world left me craving another full-length novel. A dark, compelling, and essential companion for fans of the series. It enriches the story you already know while standing firmly on its own merit.
Highly recommended for readers who like their romance with a side of shadow and emotional weight.

Eve by M.L. Mountford is a short story set before the first book in the Dark Desires series. I actually bought Deal with the Devil, the first book in the series, when I was at AATA, so when I received Eve after signing up for M.L. Mountford’s newsletter, I thought I’d give it a read.
The story follows Eve — yes, that Eve, as in Adam and Eve — who is immortal and still searching for the love of her life. She’s surrounded by loyal friends, none of whom are human, including a shadow demon named Sullivan (or “Sully,” which only Eve dares to call him).
It was an enjoyable read and has made me even more excited to start Deal with the Devil. I’m not sure how many of the characters from this short story will appear in the main book, apart from Lucifer, but I’m looking forward to finding out.
M.L. Mountford’s writing is wonderfully descriptive and drew me into the story from the very beginning.

Eve has been alive since beginning of time and her friends been around for millennia and yet they act like a bunch of young party animals. The way they talk, dress, act, didn't align with the concept of them being immortals.
This book felt juvenile.
