Favorite in the Sweet Little Sinners series of novellas so far. I don't know, everything just flowed so well together. The characters were likable and the premise was entertaining enough. Also, I find that I usually enjoy novellas more when the main characters already know each other at least a little bit. It just helps make believe in the romance quickly because of the base they already have built off page. Too often, I find that the romance is too rushed. This one just felt right!
Put simply, the plot is about June, a honey trap who works to learn people's secrets by using her natural charms and sells them to pay for her grandmother's cares. Almost every night, she finds herself in bars and clubs to seek answers her clients are looking for. Her job aligns a bit with Marcus, a certain private investigator who always seems to be in the same places, scowling at her from a distance.
June was said to be very pretty, so much so that she was naturally a honey trap. And what I loved about her was how she wasn't vain in her beauty. She was down to earth, likable and clever. She knew how to get people to tell her their secrets but she also didn't come off as manipulative. I liked how this novella made her charms almost seem magical, where people would easily confide in her or be drawn to her, Marcus included.
As for Marcus, I loved him. He was protective, possessive, absolutely besotted, a bit grumpy and the best thing, bossy with June. To me, he was the whole package. I love heroes like that. He wasn't a bodyguard but acted that way, always keeping an eye on June, making sure she stayed out of trouble. I liked the ambiguity that he felt in the presence of June, not knowing if she was real with him or if she was honey trapping him. It made sense that, knowing what her job was, he would keep his guard up and keep a certain distance. But even with precautions though, he still knew deep down that he was already trapped in her charms.
They really had a great chemistry. They weren't exactly friends, but they knew each other, had hung out a few times without getting too personal, both keeping their own secrets and a certain distance. I don't think I would've liked the story as much if they hadn't already been familiar with the other at the start. Their relationship was cute to follow. There wasn't much steam and it was a bit of a slow burn but I think it was a pretty solid love story. No jarring insta-love or lust that didn't make sense. The pacing was pleasant, not too fast or slow. No weird and unnecessary time jumps.

Would I recommend this novella? Absolutely! In my opinion, it did pretty much everything right. I don't even have a negative thing to say about it other than I wish it'd been longer. But even so, I think that with this amount of pages, it was very well done.

2 ✰ This one was the worst so far, I couldn’t like the characters… the story was so boring and I thought it would be so fun to have this woman that basically seduces man’s to get information out of them but after all we don’t even get that at all. Was super boring overall.

I didn't like this unlike the first two books, there are a lot of wrong assumptions and miscommunication between Marcus and June. He's a PI and she's in the same line of work just not official. When she's working, flirting her way to get information from unknowing men, Marcus is there to protect her and to walk her home when she's done. They've been circling each other around for years but they don't trust each other.
Then one night, when June tried to compose herself because of her feelings for Marcus, he followed her and she told him about her dreams. Marcus thought that she was just playing him like the other men, when it isn't really the case. She avoided him but he's still there and he told her that she can call him anytime.
Eventually they fix their issues and get together finally. They got their HEA, and she's now working alongside her husband and they have a son.

This was sweet, romantic and oh so spicy!!!! 🔥
The sexual tension between Marcus and June was off the charts!! The constant push and pull between them had me panting like a bitch in heat.

Another quick, entertaining, and steamy novella from Cassie Mint!
I found the dynamic of this book very interesting. June sells secrets that other people tell her (where the novella's title comes from) and Marcus is a PI concerned about her well-being. I've never read this dynamic before and I loved seeing how it played out. It added a little suspense to the novella which I enjoyed, but not so much that it overpowered the romance.
However, I wanted to know more about June and Marcus because I felt like we didn't know very much about either. Though this is a novella, I feel like there was room for at least a little bit more of an introduction to happen. Ultimately, this made it harder for me to care about their relationship or the plot.
Was I still entertained, yes, but since I enjoyed the last novella I read from Mint a lot (Hacker) I guess I was just hoping for a little more with this one?

The ANGST. The PINING. The LONGING. *screams into the void* No one writes friends to lovers romances like Cassie Mint. I was obsessed with June and Marcus from page 1. SO SO GOOD.

October 23, 2022I'm going through a very unhealthy CM binge rn- I love these novellas so much. I do wish that the stories didn't end so abruptly, and had longer epilogues to make the stories more substantial. However, I still love these novellas, and really enjoyed this one.

There was something about this book that I just couldn’t get the grasp. I was… bored almost? I couldn’t really feel the chemistry between Marcus and June. The heroine was a bit vanilla and so was the hero, they both lacked character and charisma. But I’ve been in a book rut so don’t mind me. Also I set high standards for Cassie since I love her books so much ❤️

- i love June so much omg
- Marcus that was mean, how can you not tell she’s in love with you
- i always think the plot is gonna be kidnapped but it just sort of gets handled, which makes it less fun
- this one was the weaker one out of the series
- still really fun tho! and i like how protective Marcus was
- didn’t really see the point of the ‘plot’ with the politician cos nothing happened with it😂
- what is it with these girls and losing their virginity’s not in bed
- loved the epilogue! short and sweet

Another winner!! This book was filled with so much intense heat and build up that you cannot help but be drawn in. I liked how it opened up straight into an interaction of sorts, getting the females point of view and getting to know her character and background before she introduced you to the male, in her own opinion and emotions towards him. This shows you the attraction and chemistry and they haven't even interacted face to face yet. Then you finally get to see them come face to face and their chemistry is so much more intense now and you cannot but help to anticipate more! I really liked the idea of the storyline, of them always being in the same place, her finding that he has followed her, which gave you very slight stalker vibes but you know he is only doing it to protect her. I really enjoyed when they finally had their moment, where he comes to her when she needs him and you feel yourself get excited, thinking this is it but then the author manages to draw it out and your almost like 'noooooooo' but you just know that what comes next is going to be so much better. I liked how the characters had their misunderstanding and how the male was thinking it through and decided he needed to fix it once he realised his mistake and I also liked how once he came to do that, that the female had had enough and decided to spell it put for him and make him realise where they stood. I really enjoyed their romance and the ending was great and satisfying but again the author manages to leave you craving more with her tease of the Female's friend, so I cannot wait for the next book!!.

Another great story in the Sweet Sinners series. This time we get June's and Marcus story. June is a honey trap for informations and marks and Marcus is a private investigator. They were so great together... The build up and their chemistry was awesome.😍😍😍 Instalove, sweet, steamy, romantic and safe with a sweet HEA😍😍😍 Can't wait for the next story in this series 👍👍.

Le iba a dar también 3 estrellas pero cuando lo terminé, me di cuenta que estuvo de hueva. Pero no es lo peor que he leído, entonces 2 estrellas.

I loved this book!!! The chemistry between the main characters was off the charts!! I really enjoyed the tension between them as they struggle with knowing what the other person feels. Marcus was an awesome character. I really felt for him as he tries to figure June out. She’s someone who knows how to play men, how to get what she wants, how to find all their secrets. She’s in love with Marcus but he doesn’t know if he can trust her flirting to be more than just her working. Marcus is a PI, so he has the freedom to follow her around and keep her safe. When one of her marks comes looking for revenge, Marcus is who she turns to for help. Would being forced to be around each other finally make their true feelings come to light? Check out this book! You will LOVE it!!
