The first time we meet, I put a knife to his throat.

Then he kisses my hand. So I follow him home.

Listen, I never meet guys in this city. Not ones that survive me, anyway.

And this man? He’s magnetic. A trickster with eyes like liquid gold. After I nearly kill him, he bows like a gentleman and makes my tummy flutter.

So I follow the conman and scale his building, then slip through his balcony door.

He’s already kissed my hand. I shouldn’t be greedy.

But I want him to kiss so much more.

Blade is a short and steamy instalove story, starring a charming trickster and the assassin with a lethal crush.

Cute but a little bit of a mess.

Anietta is an assassin who's on a job when she encounters Flynn, a con-man, also on a job. Since that first meeting, they can't stop thinking about each other. Anietta is a bit shy and observes Flynn from a distance everyday, while he tries to coax her into coming closer, like a stray cat. And yeah, that's about it. I mean, the concept was cute and all, I just didn't really care for it.

For one, Anietta appeared to be portrayed as a badass at first, so confident, level headed assassin...only to transform into a bundle of awkwardness and shyness out of nowhere, after meeting Flynn. I just didn't understand the sudden shift in her behavior. I also didn't feel like her being an assassin was very relevant to the story. Something about her was very odd and not necessarily in an endearing way. It felt like being an assassin defined her, but we never got to see her in action, in her element, so she came off a bit bland to me overall.

“Look at you, rubbing against me. You’re practically purring, Anietta. You’re a little murder kitten, aren’t you?”-Flynn

Flynn was a little bit better. I liked how he tried to coax Anietta to get more comfortable around him, and how he accepted her the way that she was, awkwardness and all. He was caring and a romantic hero, always getting flowers for her. He was coddling her as much as he could, whenever he had the opportunity. But just like Anietta, his profession as a con-man didn't feel very relevant to the story. Never got to see him in his element.

Okay. Now we’re getting somewhere. She likes flowers? I like flowers. It’s a match made in heaven, and if she sticks around, I’ll bring her a new bouquet every day.
-Flynn

Overall, they had a good chemistry, I just found that after the initial first meeting, their ''getting closer'' was too brief, detailed in one or two paragraphs. Maybe that's just a me-thing, but I prefer when the chase is showed, not told. To me, it's one of the most important bit in a romance. It sets the base of the relationship, builds up the passion, shows the banter if there is. It's something that helps make me swoon over them then they finally getting together rather than just thinking 'uh ok.'

Would I recommend this novella? Eh, it was okay. It wasn't bad at all, but it was a bit underwhelming compared to Cassie Mint's other works. It didn't make me feel much of anything while I read. But yeah, it was a cute and quick read.

**Note that I do not rate novellas and full-length books by the same standards**

Murder Kitten

I giggled and gagged at some of the cheesy lines. 🤣😂 This is a fun and steamy read with these two odd characters - Flynn is a con artist and Anietta is an assassin.

"Look at you, rubbing against me. You're practically purring, Anietta. You're a little murder kitten, aren't you?"

An emotionally stunted killer and a con man??? My type of book fr.

These older CM books have been hitting lately- I want more ones like this, it was so good 😭.

''Anietta is a killer, yes. Outright lethal. But she’s unaccountably delicate too. Like a vivid, poisonous flower. Not for the first time, I’m hit by the eerie realization that I could hurt her if I’m not careful.''

“I couldn’t sleep... I just lay here all night, watching the shadows move across the wall, and all I kept thinking was you’d wake up and you’d see me still here and you’d wonder why I hadn’t left already in the night. Why I didn’t get the hint.”

How is that this less than 60 pages novella could satisfy me so much in such short amount of time compared to a 300 pages one is beyond my imagination...

He called her a little murder kitten! So freaking cute. This whole short story was adorable and whimsical. I love the heroine’s shy little texts, and the hero’s emotional dependence on tea. Just cuddly, cute criminals in a quick, sexy read.

The least book I liked in this series. Anietta is an assassin and Flynn is a con man. They met in a house where she was supposed to kill an oil baron and he was there sniffing in the man's room. She put her knife on his throat trying to threaten him but all he ever did in return was kiss her hand.

Then she followed him home and sneaked inside through the balcony. And that has been their setup for days, he always leaves the balcony unlocked so she can get inside.

I didn't feel any chemistry between them, they are the strangest couple in this series for me 😂 Even after reading the epilogue five years later, she still thinks that he'll get tired of her, and he constantly shows her how much that he's in for the long haul.

El wey se lavo los dientes antes de besarla porque no quería hacerlo con el aliento matutino. Cute. Y literalmente era una masita con ella alrededor, lo amo.

"Blade" is the story of Anietta and Flynn.

A serial killer meets a conman, who begins courting her and steals her heart. I really enjoyed the beta heroes of this series and how much in awe of the heroine they were. Also the epilogue was sweet.

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Anietta is a trained assassin on a job when she first meets Flynn, hiding in her latest jobs bedroom, she had thought that this job would be a quick in and done but Flynn changes everything. She finds herself following him home and it is a connection that she finds herself unable to break. Her life becomes a routine of watching him, she can’t seem to stay away, and Flynn is doing nothing to stop her. Is this the man that she can love and trust or will their jobs prove that they can’t trust anyone?

Flynn had no idea when he attended a poker game with his latest mark that he was about to meet the woman of his dreams even if she has just held a knife to his throat. He notices Anietta over the next few days and tries to draw her into his orbit and in to hid world but her shyness and innocence when they share a kiss change everything. Can he convince his little Blade that he can be trusted and that all that they have shared is real?

I enjoyed this book as much as the others and Anietta is a more complex character that I was expecting but to be honest I didn’t feel that the fact that she was an assassin really made any real point in the book other than the reason for her name of Blade. Flynn was so cute trying to draw her in to his life and show her what they could have. 4* Read.

probably one of my favorite novella series ever! seriously. every book follows a badass heroine who is either a thief, a hacker, a PI, or a serial killer like this one💓🥰

loved this one, the heroine was badass and a wonderful serial killer but the Hero falls for her nonetheless. he was so obsessed with her and wanted her right from the beginning when she held a blade against his throat. a tooth achingly sweet novella series with the sweetest Heroes who love their women with everything in them!

This is the fourth book in the Sweet Little Sinners series each book reads as a standalone but connected through the characters so far this series will have you on the edge of your seat two people from different walks of life yet drawn together. Anietta is sweet, beautiful but has never felt like she belonged anywhere, she felt alone most of her life with a nickname Blade because she is one of the best assassins most times using a blade. One evening while hiding in wait for her mark she meets a sexy guy that isn’t forgettable even while she has blade to his throat, he is still a gentleman but just that he actually sees her. Flynn sexy as all get out con artist arrives to a job same job Blade is on and he knew she was the women for him when you held a blade to his throat but it wasn’t just that the moment she touched him was further confirmation she was going to be his one way or another and she pretty much thought the same thing after just one kiss. She scaled his building to get into his apartment through his balcony door because one kiss wasn’t enough. The attraction is so intense that neither of them can ignore it but with their jobs can they trust each other but he was going to try starting with making her tea after she broke into his place but he doesn’t let his guard down thinking she may still kill him although reality is he doesn’t care as long as he gets to spend time with her showing her that he is okay with her job but will she believe him, has she found that one person that doesn’t make her feel alone, and can the two unlikely find their own happiness even with both their unique jobs? .

eh. i didn’t feel the chemistry, find the characters charming, or think the set up was well executed. which are all things that these extremely short instalove novellas kind of need, in my opinion.

i also wish the author didn’t follow such a strict formula. the heroine is always a virgin in her early 20s, the hero is always a gruff man in his mid 30s. they always end up married with kids or pregnant in the time jump epilogue. even the sex scenes are the same. he goes down on her and then they have unprotected sex (which isn’t even discussed). it gets a little tiring, especially when those things aren’t your favorite to read and the characters/chemistry/set up aren’t making up for them.

content/trigger warnings; murder discussed, explicit sexual content,

This was hot and steamy and surprisingly sweet. Anietta meets Flynn while on a job. They feel an immediate connection to each other. Sweet, dark and a little dangerous their love grows. Flynn wants Anietta’s trust and Anietta need Flynn not to be afraid of her. Wonderfully written romance that held my attention from beginning to end. They were true soulmates. The HEA was lovely .
