John A. Russo, co-writer of the movie Night of the Living Dead, spins a tale of greed, corruption, and maliciously evil intent where anyone can become a victim…for the right price…
When Anthropology Professor Neville Pinnock, whose friend and mentor was murdered five years ago, teams up with Fiona Evans, whose sister has been recently murdered under similar circumstances, the stage is set for a showdown of biblically epic proportions. As they wend their way through lies and deception in search of the truth, the pair will encounter darkness and evil they could have never dared to believe is real.
From underground Dark Web sites showcasing brutality the likes of which has never been seen, to Manhattan boardrooms and basements concealing depravities of the foulest kind, Neville and Fiona find themselves in a battle for their very lives and souls.
Just when it seems like all is known, a twist of fate ramps up the terror even further…securing the dread right to the very last page…
“An unrelieved orgy of sadism.” —Variety on Night of the Living Dead
John A. Russo, sometimes credited as Jack Russo or John Russo, is an American screenwriter and film director most commonly associated with the 1968 horror classic film Night of the Living Dead. As a screenwriter, his credits include Night of the Living Dead, The Majorettes, Midnight, and Santa Claws. The latter two, he also directed. He has performed small roles as an actor, most notably the first ghoul who is stabbed in the head in Night of the Living Dead.
First, this novel is a re-telling of the 1995 John Russo’s book, Hell’s Creation. It uses most of the same characters but it is updated to a 2022 setting. Having said this, it is also a throwback to those old horror paperbacks. I’ve enjoyed it and I am glad Mr Russo is back. And back, he is! So many novels in such a small time. Almost one every month. For those of you who remember these old time scares and those who never read them, give yourself a treat and surf The Darkest Web.

Your sister is dead, and no one knows why but it’s not enough; Fiona wants answers!
Fiona Evans's sister did not come home, and then she was told that she was dead. After calling and calling to get answers, the detectives start evading her, so she starts her own search. She finds Anthropology Professor Neville Pinnock's friend was also killed in the same manner. Brutal and with their blood drained from their bodies. The two team up and begin working their way through the lies and deception that have crept up around both deaths. Some of the things they find, they can hardly believe that something like that is going on. Nevertheless, they continue searching, trying to find the answers they seek, and the story begins.
The occult looms ever nearer as Fiona and Neville continue their search for the answer to the deaths…
What did I like? Wow, what a storyline! We all know that some out there believe in this sort of thing, but obviously not in our circles. It was an astonishing revelation as to some of the methods used and the believers' depth; even though this is just a story, it has the ring of some truth, or at least it could be. Right? Who knows for sure???
What will you like? The amount of research the author must have done to pull this story together is incredible. The methods, the kidnappings, the murders, the believers, and the deceit that surrounds it all are magnificent! The characters are incredible and read so real that it is scary! If this is your genre, this book is one read that you will not want to miss! The latest from John A Russo, “The Darkest Web,” is available NOW!!!
This book was good for the most part, minus a few things. First, there are tons of characters that you have to keep track of, which can make it very hard to understand until your already near the end. With some of the characters even going by multiple names. Second, it likes to shift between perspectives and timelines at random points, which once again can cause some confusion while reading. Besides these issues, the story line was interesting and a great change from what I normally read.
I wanted to like this book but I just didn't. I had to force myself to finish it because I hate giving up on books. It easily could have been trimmed down a bit. The author is a proficient writer and definitely put time into this book. This novel was just not as inmmersive as I thought it would be. I usually don't read novels, especially novels like this so perhaps I'm being a harsh critic.
How satanic cults ever got by before the internet, I do not know but in The Darkest Web, Channel 666 racks up a legion of followers awaiting the next human sacrifice to air live on the dark web. In this campy page-turner by John Russo, a PI hired by one of the victim's relatives uncovers a world of occult rituals and satanic killings.
