This should be a pamphlet or a website. In fact a website is where I learned all I needed to about 75 Hard and executed it. This 194 page book is 190 pages of fluff, bad formatting, and salesmanship. This concept is very good, don’t cheapen it with hyperbole and over-the-top 1st person anecdotes. 1 star + 1 star for the concept which is actually very good.
75 hard challenge is excellent, the book However definitely seems unfinished. There is however some golden nuggets in there and I think it is worth the read while doing 75 hard.
I know that some people need the hardcore intense scrutiny to get them motivated and to get them to succeed, however I am not that person. This book was inspiring in some ways and did click in my mind on some levels but I didn’t find it as motivational over all. I felt like this was just to market and sell, I also didn’t like that it was double spaced and very surface level. Nothing left me thinking and pondering… I am currently doing 75 hard and I’m on day 42 but I’m happy to have gotten through this book so I could read something with a little more depth.
Andy Frisella is not a writer, and that’s okay because he doesn’t claim to be. I appreciate the background of the how’s & why’s, and the fact that it was a quick read... but it didn’t need to be a book. Also, the formatting drove me nuts. That said, it was exactly what I expected and what Andy said it would be, so I’ll give it three stars.
I am currently doing the challenge so reading the book was a treat. I don't agree with everything in the book but the message is empowering. Andy Frisella has motivated me to become the best version of myself through mental toughness.
This book is written with so much heart and inspiration. And though it may not be perfect, just like he says, if you wait for the perfect conditions you’ll never get started.
I had so many aha moments, notes and takeaways. Thank you, Andy Frisella for all you do and for caring so much.
Read this one while doing the 75 Hard Challenge. It answered several of my questions regarding different aspects of the challenge, as well as checked off my daily "read 10 pages of non-fiction".
I rated this book 3 stars because I see lots of pros and cons to both the 75 Hard program and book.
PROS:
I love the message behind 75Hard- that building discipline, mental toughness, and good habits can be uncomfortable, but the discomfort ultimately results in more confidence and growth in all areas of your life.
I liked hearing Andy Frisella’s story, how he came to be a successful business owner, and the core events of his life that made him who he is now. The stories behind every successful human are always so interesting to me so I’m glad he added this in there!
CONS:
Both the book and the program seem like they are kind of thrown together in a spur of the moment decision. He says in the book that 75Hard came to be when he got himself into a $250K bet to lose a certain amount body fat by the next meeting that he had with a group of entrepreneurs. The meeting just happened to be 75 days away so he made all these rules up and posted them on social media, then it took off and gained popularity from there. The problem with this is that the “rules” of the program were probably not explained in depth or even set in stone, so then he threw this book together as a guide to answer everyone’s questions (idk if this is what actually happened but this is the vibe I’m getting). The book has a ton of typos and is pretty repetitive, which goes to show how thrown together this really is. There was some good info in there but didn’t need to be as long as it was, and I felt that the more research you do on the program (the book, podcasts episodes, online, etc.) the more rules you figure out you have to follow, which makes things CONFUSING!!! Oh I’m drinking a gallon a day but since I added a lemon it doesn’t count. The chicken I meal prepped for dinner didn’t sound good so I ate something else that met my diet, ope it doesn’t count anymore. The straightforwardness of the program is lost the more research you do because it was just thrown together and released to the public! But idk maybe this is just my rule following tendencies talking!
All this being said, I do appreciate the values of the program and can see the benefits. 3 stars!!!
If you have listened to Andy Frisella’s podcast(s), this book is written exactly how he speaks. I burned through it in 2 days and can’t say I learned anything about mental toughness that I haven’t heard in his podcast before but the book does a good job of highlighting the why’s of 75 Hard + Andy’s background. It’s the only self help book I’ve read that pitches a program based on how bad it’s going to hurt :)
This is exactly what I expected it to be, and pretty much what I wanted it to be. This is not a masterpiece in writing, nor is it meant to be. This is a guide to the 75 Hard program. Expecting this to be anything more than a transcript of Andy Frisella's thoughts is a sure sign that you missed the point. This book is good enough, and that's all it needs to be; it gets the job done.
This book provided insight into how 75 Hard came to be, and it provided an excellent roadmap for following the 75 Hard program prescribed by author, Andy Frisella. Andy's language is a little rough throughout the book, but I know this is his way of relating to life and others. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking to develop mental toughness.
This is a motivational challenge to get your life back in order. Say YES to living better. 75 HARD, not cupcake. If you are second guessing if you want to make your life better or more fulfilled, 75 Hard is probably not going to be for you. It is a tough program. His book gives insight on his journey with tidbits of motivation for success.
Great book to motivate you to start 75 hard. Frisella goes into detail about the specifics and how to not cut corners. I think the book could have been shorter in terms of pages but there's a lot of wasted spacing. I enjoyed reading about his story and how he got to where he is today. I think it's a great thing to read while on the journey or thinking about committing to yourself and your health
Andy Frisella isn’t a great writer. That said, this book is a must for anyone planning to do the 75Hard challenge. The book explains the reason for each of the required tasks in 75Hard, and why it is so important not to short change any of them.
It was ok, grammar was horrible. I don’t think anyone proofread it before it was printed which annoyed me for someone so arrogant. That said, the concept is good and the book does get you motivated to tell your bitch voice where to go!
This book is a great companion read while you’re actually doing the 75 Hard. The way it walks you through each stage and what people genuinely feel is really comforting. Doing a 75 Hard change my life for the better.
Quick read but succinct advice on how to start the path to believing in yourself and becoming mentally and physically the best that you can be. It would be nice if the program was more flexible but the idea is FOR it to be uncomfortable and inconvenient- this is where the growth ideally occurs.
This is the best book to help shape your mind and teach you how to build Mental Toughness. Through Andy Frisellas program, this book explains how the 75Hard program works and everything you need to do to accomplish finishing the program, along with tons of motivational bits inside!
I loved this book! I am currently doing 75 hard, so it was insightful to understand the reasoning & science behind the "why" to all aspects of the program. I'm excited to see how I feel through the program and what I will feel physically & mentally as I progress.
When it comes to 75 hard, the book is straight forward in terms of completing a challenge and transform yourself. For those who want to follow a strict yet flexible way to transform, it's a relatively simple read.
Honestly the most motivating book I’ve read in awhile. I loved the no-nonsense intensity that you could most definitely feel + hear from his words. Inspirational, motivating, and to the point. Loved!
I am on day 54/75 & the way he describes the way this challenge changes you is dead on. I totally recommend anyone to try this mental toughness challenge!
