Desperate, she signs her life away . . . to the scariest alien she’s ever seen.
Losing her job is the last straw for Isabella. She’ll be kicked out of her apartment unless she finds more work, and living on the street is a very short death sentence. But no one’s hiring a woman from the bottom rung of life’s ladder and even the organ-rec companies shut the door in her face.
Which means she’s desperate . . . desperate enough to sign up for the new Latharian mate program. Desperate enough not to run when the biggest, scariest alien she’s ever seen walks into the office. Until he says she’s his mate, then all bets are off . . .
She can run, but she can’t hide. He’ll find her. And he’ll claim her as his . . .
Berrick B’Kaar has been looking for his fated mate ever since her DNA matched with his. But she’s clever at hiding herself and he’d almost given up hope until he finds her in a grotty downtown recruitment office. She runs -- but he’s not giving up. She will be his . . . She’ll accept him as her mate eventually, even if he has to whisk her off-planet to do so. But his courtship is derailed when events on the station almost claim his beloved’s life. Someone is targeting the humans aboard. He must get to them before they get to her . . .
Mina Carter is a New York Times & USA Today bestselling author of romance in many genres. She lives in the UK with her husband, daughter, a puppy who pays no attention to her whatsoever, and a bossy cat.
I absolutely loved this story! I loved finally getting to see Berrick find his mate that he had been matched with. This can be read as a stand alone though if you have read previous books in the series you will recognize certain characters. Berrick has been searching for Isabella for a while, the mate matching program found the match through using Jay's DNA but they didn't know where to start looking as he was given up for adoption. Isabella has not had it easy. She has worked hard to keep a life going and not be completely indebted and essentially enslaved to the corporation but it has kept her right on the edge pretty much her whole life. She is out of options and so is going to try signing up for the Lathar mate matching program and in comes Berrick to check the system. I loved Isabella's fire. She can't stand bullies and has a hard time holding her tongue when she seems them in action. I loved that even though life had beaten her down and been really hard, it hasn't extinguished that fire. Berrick loves that fire in her. He loves that she stands up in those moments. It was great seeing these two come together and build their relationship. Berrick is ready to court his mate and is doing his best to keep her safe as things keep happening to her on the ship. This story pulled me in from beginning to end and I read it in one sitting as I didn't want to put it down once I started it. I loved these two characters and getting to see them come together and seeing some old characters as well. I can't wait to see what is coming next! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Isa has exhausted all her options. To survive she decides to see if she is a match...that is until she actually is. I enjoyed meeting Isa and Berrick. Berrick wasn't expecting to find a match but now that he has he is determined to keep her. But keeping her alive may be the bigger battle. I loved that Berrick and Isa were a bit older. I loved that both had experienced life and it wasn't necessarily an easy one. I loved that Berrick catered to Isa and courted her. He saw her and not just an incubator. Ms. Carter gave us a well written story with unexpected twists that I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved returning to this world she has created and look forward to where she will take us next.
Alien Cyberwarrior’s Matched Mate is the seventeenth book in the Warriors of the Lathar series, but stands well on its own. Isabella has no job and is about to be homeless when she signs up for the Latharian Mate Program. She’s matched to Berrick, and while she runs, she slowly accepts her fate and match. But someone is hunting her. Will Berrick be able to keep his mate safe, or will claiming her put her in more harm?
This book had me hooked right from the very beginning! Isabella and Berrick had a connection that sparked right away, and I loved the ups and downs of their relationship. Then when you throw in the dashes of danger, I just couldn’t stop reading. Isa was such a strong character, one to always stand up against the bullies, and one who always wanted to help. She was selfless, but I loved when Berrick gave her every example of how truly special she was. Berrick was all alpha male, wanting to protect and possess his female, and I loved how he pushed himself to gain her trust and heart. I really enjoyed them together, their feisty attitudes at times, and their passionate embraces when they were ready to take that next step. There’s danger that had me excited to find out who and why, and then these was a secret that could have ruined everything before it truly got started. I loved this book! I love that I keep getting sucked into this series and world that Ms. Carter has created! And I love that I constantly want more!
I love Alien, sci-fi romances, they are for sure my guilty pleasure, and this one was no exception!
This story follows Isabella a human who is trying to make ends meet and keep her job. One day she loses her job due to standing up to her bully of a boss, and now has to find a new job in 24 hours or lose her home. She is unsuccessful, and so decides to join the Latharian Mate Program. She signs up thinking there is no way she will get a match, but to her surprise, she does match with one alien, a Berrick B'Kaar who is an alien warrior who signs up to try to find a friend of his mother and ends up meeting his match.
This was a fast, and fun read for me. Although it was quick, I really liked the way Isabella and Berrick's relationship developed. She was obviously wary of him, especially after her past relationship, but learns to trust him as she sees how kind and gentle he is despite his appearance. The romance is very sweet, but also steamy. There is also mystery and suspense, there is a story, it's not just about the romance, but also about Isabella finally finding a family, which is something I loved about this story.
If you love alien romances like me, I highly recommend this one! Now I need to read the rest of them! Thank you to the author and Paper Myths for a free digital copy to read. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Finding herself with nothing left to lose, with all doors closed and no light in her path, Isabella put her luck in the Latharian Mate Program. Berrick already knew who her mate was, but finding her whereabouts was something else. Why had it been so difficult to find this woman? Isabella was a bold woman, smart and determined but also very cautious because with everything she had suffered, she had learned not to trust. How many surprises Berrick was taking at every moment! The Terran woman liked to direct the action! And to top it off, strange and dangerous events were threatening his mate. With Berrick in maximum protection mode, no enemy was going to be safe from his fury. These Latharians take it all to the next level when it comes to their mates. I like how these interesting and entertaining stories are full of adventures and intertwine with each other giving us a better understanding of characters that have appeared previously. Isabella and Berrick offered each other a second chance, the chemistry between them was always present, family ties were strengthened, there was suspense, action, intrigue, violence, strong emotions, romance, and passion. Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I enjoyed.
Another worthy escapade with the Lathar and their allies!
Berrick may be a little bit "more" than Lathar but his most worthy achievement in his mind is finding a match for a mate! The fact that that mate may be the mother of his friend and ship-mate Jay, well this is a hurdle he's going to have to overcome!
Isabella has been on the run for decades. She escaped with her life only because her abuser did not know about the baby she carried. She hated giving up her baby but she knew she could never eke out enough of an existence under the radar to keep him safe. After losing the miserable job she had, she's lost her ramshackle apartment and literally has nowhere to go. She finds herself at the Lathar Matching office and soon finds herself up to her neck in Lathar!
Isabella is a spitfire, she hates bullies of any description and I loved the way she tore a strip off Berrick when she thought he was pushing his advantage. Berrick may be all logic usually but Isabella set his soul on fire. Does he keep secrets from her, namely Jay, yes but he does have a reasonably good reason. Add in homicidal furniture, Jay enjoying seeing the big warrior come to bits and enough emotion to bring a tear to a glass eye & you have another rollicking adventure!
Enjoyable but just missed the mark as serous issues are left hanging. An entertaining novella type read but also a bit light on serious matters and special interaction that had meaning between the main characters. We get so many corruption and harsh problems shown to us at the beginning, in regards to how poor the reality of life is for most inhabitants of earth. But this is never bought up further on, nor are any changes in attitudes re the Anselm Corporation in the pipeline. Also, the attitude of the manager at the mate matching program needed to be sorted out. His little power trip and disgusting offer was never dealt with either. Yes, we deal with more purist crap with attempts on Isabella’s life, but I just didn’t feel that any serious conversations took place between Isabella and Berrick. Just the short recapping of Isabella’s past and who Jay’s biological father was. Found it funny that Berrick didn’t get any food or drink for Isabella before going on duty. Just left her in the room. He also doesn’t take the opportunity to tell Isabella about Jay when he should have, causing her to be upset and walk away. I did love how he dealt with those who were out to harm the human mates. This is my honest review of this book.
Isabella has nothing. No job, family, money, or home. The chance to leave Earth and be a Lathar Warriors Mate is her best chance to start over. Berrick doesn’t expect to find his mate. His friend Jay Stephens has been looking for his mother and Berrick is willing to help. When he takes a trip to a lowly area on Earth for the new Mating Program, he meets a spitfire. Isa is a woman that stands up for those that are bullied, even if it is a Lathar warrior. I love her spirit. She had a hard life and you feel for her. But you also root for her because she is tough. Something is going on onboard. Her safety is in jeopardy at times. I love that Berrick doesn’t force anything. It just seems to come naturally with them. I think we all knew what was going to unfold with Jay. I was happy for him. I was also concerned with what happened to Isa too. Thank goodness for her mate and his fight to protect her. We just have to find someone for CDR Risyn.
This series keeps me coming back with every new book! With every book that comes out in this series, I'm pulled deeper and deeper into all things Lathar, and I'm totally cool with that! In this book, Isabella is struggling to survive on an Earth that is not surprisingly misogynistic, and catastrophically dystopian. She's had a hard life, but she's still a fighter. When she meets Berrick, she is not a fan, to say the least, but he grows on her. The story shows their love story growing while at the same time the action ramps up and the danger increases. I loved the enhancements that Berrick had, just as a side note, lol. I love the way Mina Carter writes her stories, her characters are always relatable and full of human quirks, the action is always interspersed in the stories, and the scenes are always written well and with sufficient details to bring it all to life.
A big bad B’Kaar finds his mate and discovers his softer side. One of my favorite sci-fi series comes to Earth to find mates by matching DNA. I have been following the Lathar since the beginning and if you like falling in love stories and fated mates in a cool futuristic world you will love these books. This tale starts the Karr clan storyline. They are the tech nerds of the Lathar, but they are also hella scary in their semi autonomous armor and glowing processing links under their skin. Of course this is also Isabella’s journey too and even though she has been through some stuff she is still a fighter. Berrick has his work cut out for him to win over Isa and we get to come along on the adventure. Loved this read!
This is a warm, loving, and melt your heart story. Isa needs to get a better life. She signs up for the Latharian Mate Program in a desperate move to leave poverty behind and find security. Berrick B'Kaar touches down on Earth to help his loyal friend human Jay Stephens locate the female both believe is Jay's estranged mother. But Berrick has ulterior motives because the Latharian system had found her as a mate match to him. Their ultimate meeting starts the swirl of attraction, danger, political manipulation, death attempts, and life or death struggles. As with all books in this series the reading brings pleasure to its reading and ends with hints of more to come. This is my honest and voluntary review.
3.5 stars. I was so excited to read another installment of the Lathar series. Berrick is a big teddy bear. Always enjoyed him. Isa was refreshing. I liked her strength. I’ve been trying to figure out what I felt was missing from the story. I realized that we’ve always known that Berrick and Isa were going to be together. We found out when we we’re introduced to the B’Kaar. I realized I kept waiting for an epic reunion between Jay and Isa and it never came. At least not for me. I didn’t like the betrayal aspect of the story and I wanted Isa and Jay to spend more time together. I felt there was too quick of a closure, or glossing over that part of their life. It was an important piece to me. I did love watching Berrick and Isa’s love grow. It was fun. Great twist with the evil guy.
This story is about Berrick & “Isa”bella. We met Berrick in the other books along with Jay. We had also learned that Berrick’s mate was Jay’s mother. Berrick had been waiting and looking for his mate. He was currently working at a Lathar Mating Center where single eligible females were tested to see if they are compatible mates with the Lathar warriors. Isabella, Jay’s mother, goes to the Center to sign up after having a run of bad luck which led to her being kicked out of her home. Berrick meets her and the story continues. I have absolutely loved this series and wait happily for the next book. There are sexual scenes that may offend some readers.
This book definitely lived up to my expectations! Every book in the series builds the world a little more, making the stories richer. This book gives us a better insight to the B'Kaar clan. The advanced techno-warriors of the technologically advanced Lathar. They are a scary group, even to other Lathar. Never mind, to a desperate woman who is one of societies throwaways. Isabella has had a rough life. Beaten nearly to death by her "ganger" boyfriend at 13 and forced to give away her baby to save his life, she has been alone and on the run. Things just couldn't get worse. And then they do.
This book was received as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Berrick has known who his mate is for awhile. He has unsuccessful tried tracking her down. How fortunate for him that the very moment he walks into a bride matching facility his mate happens to be there getting signed up He and Isabella don't make a great first impression of each other, yet Berrick insists she be tested. Lucky winner, winner, chicken dinner she's his mate Isabella immediately flees the facility. Berrick must prove he will be a worthy mate and break through the defenses Isabella has in place.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am leaving a voluntary review.
And this series. One book with two HEA's. Berrick is such a big, ol' sweetie. He and Isa really fit. The development of their relationship was well done and well rounded. The Lathar and Human dynamic is so entertaining. The Lathar's always seem to be playing catch up. So look forward to the next book in this series and the Mercenary series as well. Nice teaser at the end of this book. Can't wait. While I received an ARC, I am freely leaving this review and feel it was well worth my time and will be well worth your $$.
A hidden link This book started out fantastic and just got better from there! I love the sassy strength in Isa! She stands up for herself and her fellow man as much as she can, even against the giant, metal encased alien that could smoosh her like a bug. But that’s okay because it just sets the tone for their budding romance. The author really added extra depth to this story with the hidden connection and the danger that comes out of no where, and I loved it. Once I started I couldn’t put the book down and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
This is has everything you want in a story. A sassy no nonsense strong female takes on a Lathar Commander not knowing that she is about to be matched to the hulking brute. What does she do......runs. of course there is nowhere to go that he won't find her. A heartwarming wooing lovestory. He will protect her at all costs when he discovers someone is out to kill the human females. Love love love it 💜

What a wonderful addition to the Warriors of the Lathar series. Isabella is on her last leg when she signs up to be matched to a mate. She doesn’t expect Berrick nor all the surprises that will bring more to her life than she has had. I loved their unforgettable journey filled with swoon worthy romance and a bit of danger that will have you cheering for their HEA. A definite must read for fans of the series and authors work.
Too short! Isabella is a feisty woman who is unable to stand by when a fellow worker is an unworthy scapegoat and gets fired again. Desperation causes her to go to the Lathar matching office. Isa is matched to the arrogant Warrior visiting the office and she quickly bails. Berrick is very impressed with her speed and savvy abilities to lose a tail, however, Berrick knows where she lives. So much action in such a short tale.
Alien Cyberwarrior’s Matched Mate is an exciting sci-fi love story. Love that Isabella is a tiny fireball survivor. Berrick is a massive grumpy subcommader. Their story is combustible! Note: there is something wrong in the Amazon numbering of this book. Amazon says book 15; review field says book 17 as do other websites. It was frustrating, difficult….to find Berrick’s story.
I look forward to every book in the Warriors of the Lather series. This one is a great read too. I'm going to start reading the series again starting at the beginning! Mina Carter please continue with this series. And maybe include some of the characters from earlier books. I would love to catch up with couple's and children. Just s thought! Thank you for sharing your imagination with me!
I really enjoyed reading this book. I liked the way Berrick and Isabel met each other and how he had to earn her trust. They make a good couple and I liked how much effort he put into courting her. It’s also very cool that she’s the marine, Jay Stephen’s biological mother. This book didn’t cover as much of the over arching series plot other than attempted killings. This focused more on the couple and the them falling in love. Good easy read.
The Latharian Mate Program is working and matching mates from Earth. Isabella is at the end of her rope…she lost her job and her place to live. What’s a girl to do? Sign up for the Latharian Mate Program and meet the alien of your dreams. What an adventure! I love that two damaged souls find and heal each other. I enjoyed the wooing. Carter can write some fiery spicy romance! Excellent!❤️❤️❤️
I really vibed with both of the main characters. They had great personalities, Strongly defined identities, and their developing romance was really sweet. My only complaint would be that it was a little too peaceful as the danger was somewhat amorphous until the last chapter. Other than that minor issue, it was quite excellent!
I’m really enjoying this series by Mina. It’s hard to believe that each book is so different. It’s great to see Berrick has his story and he has found Isabella. This ties in nicely with previous books, although you could read it by itself. Can’t wait for the next one. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Always anticipated and never disappointing - The Warriors of the Lathar series is a perfect blend of adventure, strong wills and Oh Mylanta - the attraction and heat are off the charts! Isa and Berrick's story will take you away on an unforgettable journey you will not want to miss. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.
