Love Drunk: Mountain Men of Caribou Creek Book 2 A Small Town Mountain Man Curvy Woman Romance
Avery
After ending a toxic relationship, I’m ready for a fresh start. When an opportunity to be a kindergarten teacher in Caribou Creek arises, I don’t think twice. I pack my bags and go. After that turbulent relationship, I’m determined to stay single and focus on myself. But my resolve is tested when I meet my incredibly attractive landlord, Wes Ashburn. For months, I keep my distance from the sexy brew master. But when a leak springs under my kitchen sink that I can’t fix, I’m forced to call him. Just my luck that my ex chooses that moment to find me. Wes doesn’t miss a beat. He comes to my rescue and pretends to be my boyfriend. It’s not supposed to mean anything. I’m not supposed to like it so much. So why I am falling so hard for my pretend boyfriend?
Wes
I’ve been drawn to my beautiful, curvy tenant since the day I handed her the keys. But dating has been off the table ever since I moved back to Caribou Creek. I have more than enough reason not to trust women. Or my own judgment when it comes to dating. My life is quiet, simple, and uncomplicated. I like it that way. But when Avery’s ex shows up and tries to cause trouble, I’m not about to leave her high and dry. I pretend to be her boyfriend. I offer her a place to stay to keep her safe. It’s supposed to be temporary. I’m not supposed to fall for her. But the more fate keeps pushing us together, the more I realize I don’t want to pretend anything.
Welcome to Caribou Creek, Alaska. Secluded small town living in the heart of the mountains is not for the faint of heart. But to those who call it home, they can’t imagine being anywhere else. Love runs a little deeper in these parts. It must be something in the water, because the men who’ve sworn to live solitary lives are unable to resist the women who upend their best laid plans and capture their hearts.
This is a sweet & steamy instalove romance with an older mountain man and younger curvy woman. NO cliffhangers. NO cheating. Guaranteed HEA.
Avery and Wes were not what I was expecting at all. They haven’t known each other long but Wes already expected to want to be a lot closer to Avery than she wanted him.
Avery has been running away from a scary situation with her ex. He’s been super creepy and pops up all over the place trying to get her back. He hasn’t gotten handsy or anything like that but he is still such a damn creep to her. When he sees them out, he calls her name and makes such a damn scene. So gross. I hate men like that.
Wes is working with his brothers at the bar but is also letting Avery stay at a house he owns. When she has some water issues with her sink and a creepy ass boyfriend coming around, Wes offers her to stay in his guest room. He doesn’t want to leave her alone as he worries for what this guy might do when he’s not around.
Now with Avery staying at his house, his family seems to think they’re together. Answer to all the problems - fake date. If they can make the family think they’re together well maybe they leave Wes alone about finding someone.
The fake doesn’t lady very long and they quickly realize they have real feelings for each other. When that wall drops it’s electric. Wes helps Avery conquer those fears and really come into herself. I loved this book and can’t wait to finish the series.
Kali Hart never disappoints and this series is even better. Avery had a hard life and moved to Caribou Creek to start over. Wes has had a big heartbreak in the past. But fate had other plans and when the two meet, everything falls into place. The chemistry and love between the two go further. A perfect story for a light read.

Oh my this story was great and I just loved Wes and Avery's story.. but I also cant forget to mention Grandma June, she is a spit-fire that never stops. A wild and funny lady which I hope to be like at that age. It was love at first sight for Wes when he first met Avery, he knew there was something special. It did take Avery a bit longer and she did try to fight the attraction as long as she could but nothing will stop true love.
It was ok. Avery is way too forgiving after what Wes did to her but my main problem is Ben. The author has made him such an horrible person in the first two books that I have zero interest in his story. There is absolutely no reason good enough to justify his awful behavior. Family is everything but he treats his brothers like he hates them and wants them to be as miserable as he is. He’s a terrible brother, boyfriend, AND boss! The straw was when he finds out about Avery’s past and runs to Wes to throw it in his face and calls Avery a slut because she was a stripper for one week to pay for her books. What a great guy! Just the kind of guy I want to read about in a romance book. There’s no big epiphany nor are we told he ever apologizes to Wes or Avery. I hate him as much as he apparently hates his brothers. AND women. He appears to be completely devoid of any redeeming qualities. In most books he would be the villain/antagonist who gets their comeuppance in the end. Not sure what the author was thinking here with this terrible setup.
The way Wes treated Avery when he found out that she used to be a stripper disgusted me. There's a huge difference between hiding you're an active escort and hiding the fact that you used to strip. Plus, they barely knew one another. He hasn't told her about his ex, what right did he have to treat her that way. She forgave him way too quickly. He's not a good guy. That shit pisses me off.
This is book two of the Mountain Men of Caribou Creek series and the main characters are Avery, who has moved to the small town to escape a bad ex and taken a job as a kindergarten teacher, and Wes Ashburn, a brewmaster for the brewery he and his two brothers own and run, as well as owning and letting out a few properties around town. He first saw Avery, when she rented a cabin off him and he has been drawn to her ever since. But he doesn’t date anymore, after being hurt by someone and he doesn’t need the complications. Avery doesn’t date, as she has told herself she will keep t herself for a year and live without a man for at least a year, especially after the issues she had with her ex and the fact she had to run away to get away from him. Having to call her landlord Wes, when her sink springs a massive leak and she isn’t able to fix it, no matter how many videos she tries to watch, leaves her feeling vulnerable having a man in her small home. Both get soaked as he does the repairs and while she can get changes, he can’t. As he gets ready to leave, her ex suddenly turns up, shocking her and obviously leaving her scared! Wes comes up behind her and puts his arm around her, pretending he is her boyfriend and tells her ex where to go. Her ex is drunk and abusive, making lots of rude comments about her and her size in particular, then trying to mention something she needs to be kept secret! He calls a friend who works in the sheriff’s department, with her exes licence plate number, hoping he can catch him for drunk driving. When he gets no update, he insists that Avery come and stay in his spare room, so she will be safe. It should have just been temporary, but he wants to keep her safe and likes having her in his home. He doesn’t want to pretend much anymore, but he knows that she is wary of men and having a relationship, having told him some of what her ex did. He tells her some of his past and how his trust was broken by his last girlfriend. She should have told him what her own mother’s inaction and let downs pushed her to do, when she started college, but it was only for a week and it isn’t something she wants her new employers to ever hear of! Unfortunately for her, her drunk and loud mouthed ex is quite happy to tell everyone and anyone, all about her and her secrets. She has fallen hard for Wes and he is beginning to want to share his life with her, but her past and her ex cause her problems with her work and with Wes. Fate has pushed Avery and Wes together, both hurt by previous partners, and seemingly are well matched for each other. If only others didn’t try to ruin things for them. Whether Wes can get over the revelation of her secret or not, is a hard one to call. This is another short and steamy instalove romance on Caribou Creek with a HEA ending, almost ruined by the actions of a stalker ex! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
This book is about Avery and Wes. They’ve both been unlucky in love, for very different reasons, and are by no means not looking for it now. However, as Avery moves into Caribou Creek as the new kindergarten teacher, and one of Wes’s new tenants, that goes out the window. He’s enamoured by her immediately, and while she’s wildly attracted to him too, she avoids him, so as to protect herself. Her move was about escaping her ex after a horribly-toxic relationship, and making a better life for herself. When that threat finds her, Wes is there to protect her – if she’ll let him.
This story has lots of drama, humour, banter, flirting, infuriating and loving family and friends, lots of sweet and romantic gestures, and plenty of passionate steam. The characters are wonderful. It’s always good to catch up with familiar faces – especially when they’re as feisty, funny and caring as Hattie Kohl and Grandma June. And Mr. Sprinkles was a hoot! I’m already looking forward to reading grumpy Ben’s love story next! I give this book four and half protective stars.

“Love Drunk” on this Kali Hart Series! Kali Hart’s “Love Drunk,” Book 2 of the Mountain Men of Caribou Creek series of short, steamy small-town contemporary romances, is one sweet and sexy story! I’d been really looking forward to this series since the Ashburn brothers made an appearance in the Guardians of the North series, and OMG…so worth the wait! Wes Ashburn is a super-hot Army veteran, the brewmaster for his family’s brewery, and he finds his natural protective instincts kicking in for the tenant in one of his rental properties. Beautiful kindergarten teacher is clearly skittish, but she finds it nearly impossible to continue denying her attraction to her landlord. They both have baggage (who doesn’t?) from their romantic pasts, but they clearly have something special, and everyone - including Wes’s bossy Grandma June (who is honestly one of my favorite characters) - can see it. Hart brings all the heart-tugging, lip-biting, sweet, and sexy deliciousness we can handle in a tidy little package, and I cannot wait for uber-grumpy Ben to get his story next! Amazing work, Ms. Hart!
Love Drunk is the second book in the Mountain Men of Caribou Creek series and is Avery and Wes's story.
Avery is renting one of Wes's rentals, starting her life over and was running from her ex, Lucas. When Lucas found Avery, Wes was at the house working on her car and took it upon himself to help.
Wes was taken by Avery's beauty and was not going to let anything happen to her. When his grandmother stopped by unannounced, seeing Avery at his house started a lie that snowballed.
Wes and Avery have a strong connection with passion that burns bright. This fast love does not allow them to find everything out, and when Avery's past comes out, Wes takes offense to her secret that is until his grandmother knocks some since into him.
I love Grandma June, she is definitely someone you want on your good side. Love Drunk is fast read that is perfect to get lost in and to enjoy the twist and turn of finding love.

Love Drunk is the second book in the Mountain Men of Caribou Creek and I really loved it. The story is about Avery Nichols, the new kindergarten teacher at Caribou Creek school. She moved to town a couple of weeks ago and rented a house from Wes Ashborn. Wes is one of the three Ashborn brothers who took over the family brewery a few years ago. Wes is the Brew Master for the brewery, having trained in Portland, Oregon before moving back to Alaska a few years ago. Avery and Wes are both running from situations that involve their heart, but for very different reasons. As it turns out they end up running right into each others arms and find that they are meant to be there. But along the way their is crazy family, leaking pipes, famous cinnamon buns, self defense lessons, sweet kids who love to eat blue paint, a crazy stalker ex and a lot of love and sexy fun. Yep this is a fun story that had me laughing and blushing all in the span of a paragraph. I would definitely RECOMMEND this book and can't wait to read Ben and Josie's story next.
The second installment of Kali Hart's Mountain Men of Caribou Creek series, Love Drunk, is Wes' story. Wes has wanted Avery from the moment she arrived in town and rented one of his properties. However, her arrival in Caribou Creek was as an escape, and she is ready to leave at any moment. Reluctant to allow herself to connect with anyone, she has been avoiding Wes at every opportunity. But when her past catches up with her, and Wes' meddling grandmother arrives in town, the two fake a relationship, which inevitably leads to both catching feelings. Can they each move past their previous relationships and give each other a chance, or will playing pretend only end in heartbreak?
A wonderfully-written, engrossing, sexy, steamy title, this series is already a must-read - yet and I cannot wait for the Ben's story.

If you’re looking for a quick read, in fact, you can definitely knockout the whole series in a day if you wanted to, this insta love story with a touch of spice is for you!
My only worry when it comes to shorter reads is that the story may come out rushed and, but that wasn’t the case here! I’m a sucker for the forced proximity trope so, I just ate up Avery & Wes’s story! Aside from them, I gotta say Mr.Sprinkles was also a close second to favorite character. I will definitely be finishing the Ashburn Brothers series and look into Kali Hart’s other series because I really enjoyed her writing as well!!
The only thing I wasn’t the biggest fan of was the way Wes handled Avery’s secret. He could’ve definitely handled it better and granted he admitted that, Avery forgave him just a littleeee too quickly. Regardless, would’ve love to see Wes’s POV when grandma June handed him his ass for messing up hehe
I enjoyed the writing style and the characters until the last part of the book (Grandma steals the show, I love her.) Honestly, the shaming of Avery for being a stripper at one point took me out and took my rating from 4* to 1*. Shaming sex work and sex workers is harmful, and placing the demand that she “only did it for a week and for her schooling” perpetuates the idea that sex work is shameful or invalid. This is 2000’s, stop shaming sex workers! I’m glad that I read Ben’s book first, because after his attempt at “slut shaming”, I really would not have continued with his book. I enjoyed the story until the characters displayed this harmful rhetoric. If Avery would have been proud and not ashamed, I’d be on board. But this? Nah. The only thing shameful is that all of these characters felt the need to justify a job because of their own prejudices.

I liked this story a lot. It was entertaining and enjoyable with a couple of exceptions. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. Wes and Avery were each trying to move forward with their lives after bad relationships. Unfortunately for Avery, her ex wasn't quite done with her and he came after her. Luckily for Avery, Wes was at her place for a repair and was able to assist her by claiming that they were together. There was some drama and angst. Mama June was the absolute best! I liked their happily ever after. I recommend reading this book.

Definitely instalove. The characters were sweet and the writing was good. Avery has an awful ex who of course shows up at the worst times and is the reason she is hiding and starting over. Wes is her landlord and a good guy that likes her and wants to help her out, especially when her ex shows at her place when he is there. Then his grandma finds her staying at his place and a fake relationship for both of them forms. He ex also puts her job in jeopardy. I did feel the ‘breakup’ was a bit forced and the resolution to the situation. Overall good read and will probably read the next in the series.
Avery is running away from her abusive ex and she moves to Caribou Creek where she gets a job as a kindergarten teacher. He wants to be an independent woman that’s why it is quite difficult for her to get help from other people. Wes is trying to stay away from Avery since the moment he laid eyes on her, but that is difficult after she asks him for help. Being her landlord, he should stay away from her, but his grandmother doesn’t think the same. Funny, sweet and enjoyable story. I loved Grandma June. Wes it the Brewmaster at Caribou Creek and brother number two to find love. Avery is a quiet woman who's running from her past. She's had a rough life and when her drunk ex shows up Wes steps in to protect her. They pretend to be a couple and things soon become very real. Wes has guarded his heart for years but he fell for Avery as soon as she rented his property. Grandma June and his finicky cat give their full approval and punish Wes when he hurts Avery. Hot connection and overloaded with chemistry!
There is a list for Avery's list to independence. No asking for help that sort of thing. But when the kitchen sink is making you look like an 80's Scream prom queen, maaayyyybeeee calling the landlord for help isn't so bad. No matter how H O T he is. Funny. And very realistic, even if they are in Alaska. It makes it better. No cliff.

Avery moves to a new town to get away from her crazy ex and mom. She has sworn off men. That changes when she meets Wes, her landlord. She avoids him as much as she can but when her crazy ex shows up je steps in and pretends to be her boyfriend. This was a very interesting story and the grandma really made it stand out. I can not wait for the next story.

This is the second book in the series but can totally be read as a standalone. The characters are all sweet - from the main characters to all the supporting ones including the cat. Grandma June and Mr Sprinkles are a hoot.

This was a really cute fake relationship romance. It’s the second book I’ve read by this author and I really like her style of writing. The story had a nice pace and some drama but not too much. The chemistry between Wes and Avery was amazing and I enjoyed reading their story.

I loved Wes and Avery’s story. What starts out as a fake relationship to not only protect Avery from her past but to try and trick Wes’ grandparents, turns real. Secrets are found out but the sizzling chemistry between these two allows Avery to get the family she’s always wanted. Can’t wait to read Ben and Josie’s story. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Ah Grandma June had it all planned out after all. Lol. She knew what was up the whole time, the little matchmaker. Wes and Averys lovestory was fun adorable and at times love drunk between them. (Especially thst first kiss)
I loved how their relationship evolved and how Wes came to his senses within the day if his dumb mistake.
Avery is a kindergarten teacher who's newly single after a bad relationship and moved to town. Wes is a co-owner of a brewery with his brothers and had rental properties. They meet when Avery becomes his new tenant. Sparks fly but can Avery let go of the past and let Wes in? Will there be a HEA?
This instant love story was so good. They had wonderful chemistry and had that relationship that so many people would envy. They had their ups and downs but it ended in a very happy ever after. This is a must read.
