4.5/5 Stars

This book has been on my radar for a while. I was immediately drawn in by the synopsis. I was so excited to finally dive in!

This is a fast-paced story that offers so much to the reader. I was blown away by the relatable storytelling. The plot was intriguing and enjoyable. I loved the plot twists and the construction of the story. The world-building was adequate for the story and vivid enough but I would have liked a little more depth.

I really liked the characters and their interactions with each other. I was so endeared with Blair's character. She was the responsible type with a lot on her shoulders. She was also trying to prove herself as a female alpha in a male-dominated world. Apart from all that, she was capable and strong. Asher's character was a bit more mysterious but I liked him. His demeanor was a little distant but not in an unkind way. The reader learns more about him as the story progresses. I really liked the secondary characters as well. They added a lot of depth to the story. I loved that each character stood out among the rest.

The romance in this one is a little hard to talk about without dispensing spoilers. I will say that Blair has the attention of more than one male. Blair isn't really interested in a romantic partner at the start of the book but her opinion changes and the plot thickens.

Overall, this was an awesome story that really piqued my interest. I was thrown into this story with excellent storytelling and did not want to come back out. I was glued to this book until I finished it. If you love paranormal romance with memorable characters and a stimulating plot then you'll want to add this one to your TBR as soon as possible. I can't wait to continue this series.

This book just kept you wanting to see what happened next. We have suspense, action, mystery, magic and the unknown. Follow Blair as she struggles to become the first female alpha and her love life. Her first Alpha games they have changed everything, but who are these Wild Pack? Why the change? Who is this this dark leader of the Wild Pack? Can she leave her mark on the Alpha Games? Will she prove is worthy to become the next alpha? This story will not disappoint you. I received a free copy for my honest review.

This is my first time reading a book by this author and it will not be my last. The characters, the world building were all superb, so much so that you can clearly picture the characters and the land that the Alpha Games were being played on. The story is wrapped around the Alpha Games, where any pack is allowed two pack members to compete. Each pack is allowed to ask for a "prize" if they should win. The host Alpha gets to deny or approve the requested prize and the alpha of the pack that holds the prize gets the option to deny or approve it. The prognostic, Blair, is the only female competing in the games. She is the heir of her pack, as her father is the Alpha. She will be the only female alpha that ever be the leader of a pack. I will be anxiously waiting for the next book.
Pick up this book and read to find out who wins the Alpha Games and what the prize is.

I volunteered a honest review in exchange for an ARC copy of this book.

4.5 ⭐️! I absolutely loved so much about this book and the only reason I'm setting it at this score, is because I just know it's going to get so much better. So it feels wrong, marking it as a 5...because then, in my opinion, it doesn't show the story's growth to its fullest. Hence I'm gonna stick with this rating...but my words! You guys have to read this book! If you love Shifter and bonded mates you'll gobble this one up like you've been deprived of your favourite chocolate cake. And you'll eat it all up without a worry for your safety because nothing else will matter.

I find the need to give all you guys a heads up...but my brain is legit all over the place and not making much sense...so apologies in advance if you're just left like "Huh?"...don't worry, it's not you, it'll be my crazy worn out brain's, spewing forth nonsense, fault.

Anywho, I loved so much about this story, the characters, the friendships, the plot development...there was so much to love. The storyline was a little predictable, in my opinion, and I had worked out the main stuff pretty early on...but I thoroughly enjoyed reading, as it all came together. The ups and downs and flow of this story was incredibly done. I was totally engaged in this story and the character's journey and growth. Invested and hooked, I was. All you lovers of paranormal romance, mated pairs, are going to love this book. I know you will.

The MC, Blair, is a relatable character. As one of the first female Alpha heirs, she has a lot of weight and judgement that she constantly has to bat...to basically prove she'd make a worthy Alpha. So I bet you can understand the constant pressure of being the best at everything, whilst knowing that other shifters will more than likely be stronger, physically than her. With a lot of others in the pack against a female rising up, into that role (yeah they living in the olden days lol). But she's determined to prove them all wrong. That she can do this. Lead them. Her pack. So if you have ever felt that pressure of not being good enough or judging yourself by others' standards...I think you will relate very easily to her. She, as a character, has a lot of depth and layers and I can't wait to see as they get peeled back and she becomes who she was always meant to be.

Having said that, I think other shifter books influenced this particular thought process...but I really wanted to see a stronger more dominant side to her wolf rise up. It honestly, to me, didn't necessarily feel like her wolf had a naturally dominant streak, like some others typically would've, at that rank. Don't get me wrong, it was there but not as strongly as I would've thought, for an Alpha heir, if that makes sense. Her fighting strength was another thing...most female Alpha's are known for their fierce strength and ruthless streak. Where they are sometimes even stronger than the male shifters...with this book it isn't the case, but I liked that to be honest, because it brought in a more realistic setting. Since the guys are usually bigger and stronger naturally, in both supernatural and human form. Having said that, that doesn't mean she can't find ways to take them down. She just has to use their strength against them and not get stuck in her own head. But I digress lol. You are going to love Blair. I know I did. And you are going to love so many other characters too. Stephanie her bestie, is honestly friendship goals...but I also adored Chase, he's da best lol...and then, ahem my swoon-worthy shifter Asher. He...I...

Yeah, I kinda caught them feelings. I couldn't help it. In my defence...yeah I got nothing. I had no defences. It just sorta...happened.

Gah, I literally can't wait until you can meet these characters for yourself...not too much longer since it's releasing on the 26th March! Hurry up now...I need someone to talk to about it. So much to love about this book. I definitely need to add to my bookshelf. Can't wait for the paperback to go live!!

Such a tease 😉

Grr, that ending whilst expected, still had me begging to have more details. I really wanted it to have an extra big cliffy (I know, what is wrong with me?! 😆🤷🏻‍♀️) but I kinda wanted one more information bomb drop. I can't say anything on top of that, without those naughty spoilers lol...but I still really need this next book. I just want more of the story. More of the characters...just more of everything.

It ain't wrong lol 😆

I suppose I should give you a little information about the actual book plot. Gah, this bit is always the hardest part. Okay, well as you guys know we have Blair, the first female Alpha heir...and the time has come around for the next lot of Alpha Games. A set of trials that packs from all around North America come to compete in...to see which pack will lead the shifter race for like the next five years. As the Alpha Heir, Blair must represent her pack in these games. She will be put up against all the rival packs and have to fight for her position. She hopes that by doing well in these games, she will finally be able to gain the respect of her own pack (ridiculous but such is the way). So that they will accept her as their next leader. But when she gets there, things get interesting. A pack that hasn't been a part of these games show up. The Wilds Pack. And their requested winning prize is a permanent alliance with the Summit Pack (Blair's Pack)...they want Blair to mate with their Alpha. So you can see how this is only going to make Blair fight all the harder to not lose her freedom or pack.

The games and people are about to get real intense. Especially when a certain possessive wolf shifter keeps getting under her skin...but can we really blame her? Nope. He didn't even need to break out the smoulder for me to be under his spell lol...So Blair doesn't have much hope, in my opinion. 🙃😍

But whatever she feels, she can't let that distract her...because any slip up could mean her future being changed drastically forever. But some things are out of our control and all we can do is keep going. And just follow Gimli's advice...

it's solid advice

I was going to be nice and give you a teaser, but all the ones that jump out at me all have spoilerish themes...sooo no quotes for you today haha. Apologies to those who live for those moments. Guess you'll just have to read the book in that case. 😉

This was an incredible read and I'm so looking forward to what is in store for us next. C'mon book two...I needs you lol. Thank you to the amazing Samantha Britt for the chance of reading the ARC, of your latest upcoming book, in place of my honest ramble. I feel so honoured to have been one of those chosen few. What a journey you took me on aye. I think I'm a wee bit addicted.

Seems accurate 😆

So, I'm just gonna be over here not so patiently waiting for whatever awesomeness you want to concoct next. If you've never checked out this author, I honestly, suggest that you do so. This book is a great option for shifter lovers...but if you are after a completed series, I'd definitely recommend Shadowguard Academy. But don't forget to mark down Midnight Moon's release on the 26th March.

Anywho, I'm about done rambling. If you are new to my rambles don't forget to hit that follow button, so you can forever be entertained by my weirdness.

Cheerio and happy reading Ramblers.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. We meet Alpha heir Blair who happens to be the only female in all the packs that is heir. She will soon be competing in the Alpha games but before she leaves her BFF drags her out dancing. There Blair meets the most handsome man shes ever met, thr mysterious Asher and his friend. At the games, there is alot of tension as some packs think their better than others. When they are debating on what the winners will get Asher walks thru the door...he is from the Wilds Pack in Alaska and they state of they win, they would like an alliance with the summit pack...aka having Blair mate with their Alpha. WTH! Blair can't believe het ears but the head Alpha agrees. There is more going on at these games especially when her teammate is injured, she falls in a silver laced hole and sorcerers are in these protected woods. Blair and Asher will have to work together in order to survive what's coming.

Loved it
Wow such a great start to a new series by Samantha Britt....I had a hard time putting it down!
I'm not one to post what happened in the book or what it is about....you can read the synopsis to for that. I'm not a big fan when a reviewer tells you what is going on in a story before I read it
What I will cover is that the characters are wonderful and I can't wait to see how they grow in the next book. I found most of the characters easy to like and I wanted to learn more about them which the author delves into each character with a great storyline.
Now the story is about shifters and bonded mates and it was so easy to get involved into the story. It was like a smooth running movie in my head while I was reading. It was like I was right there in the story. Samantha Britt has a way to pull you into a story and it doesn't let go until the ending. The ending was amazing but it is a cliffhanger which I don't mind at all....just means there is another book coming in the series.
I have read every book by Samantha and I say it every time but I think this is her best book....just my opinion. But I did love all her other books just like this one.
Highly recommend

Thank you to Samantha Britt for allowing me to read an advanced digital copy of this book for an honest review. These are my words and only my words. I'm not an eloquent reviewer but every word is from the heart!

This is a great start to a series. The characters are interesting and well rounded. The story is full of intrigue with lots of twists and turns. What should be a simple trip to attend the Alpha Games turns into so much more for Blair, she could not have known how her life would change. With her life completely turned upside down she must face her new challenge and I can't wait to see what happens next. The ending is a bit of cliffhanger.

This is book one of the Alpha Games series and the main character is Alpha heir, Blair Hemmings, of the Summit Pack. She is twenty one and the first female alpha heir for her pack or any others and that has not gone down well with some of the older generation. She has been raised by her father to become alpha when she reaches twenty five and has been preparing for the Alpha Games, held every five years, where the packs compete for pack supremacy, with the winning pack able to ask for rewards from the other packs and have overall control of all governance and ruling until the next games. Usually an Alpha and Beta compete for each pack and Blair will be the first female to ever have competed. She has been training with the pack’s beta heir, Hunter, the older brother to her best friend Stephanie. She may not be as strong as Hunter and other male wolf shifters, nor as fast, but she more than makes up for it in other areas. The games will challenge the shifters senses, intelligence, cunning, strength and logic, over four separate days of competition. It is being held just outside Billings, Montana, where the current leaders, the Badlands Pack are based.
She has an early flight the next morning, but Stephanie persuades her to go out for the night and they end up in a bar, where Stephanie is soon busy being chatted up by a human man. As she sits by the bar a man called Chase comes up to her, but she isn’t interested. She can only have a mate form within her own pack, or she would be forced to leave it, even when she becomes Alpha! Chase and his friend Asher, who she is entranced by for some reason, are from Alaska, where she and Stephanie’s dads have friends. She forgets about him and is more interested in her flight down the next day and meeting Alpha Kurt, of the Badlands pack and the other teams, to find out who her competition is. Alpha Diego of the Moors Pack is an ally of their pack, but Alpha Orlando of the Coastal Pack is certainly not! Orlando’s son Tyler is someone she had a crush on for ages when she was just twelve and he was seventeen. Not anymore. Hunter wants to be mated to her and has crushed on her one-sidedly for years, encouraged by his own father. Blair just isn’t really interested in matign and being a brood mare! The next morning is the opening ceremony, a meeting of all the alphas and their teams, where each pack asks for the reward they would like if they are the winners. Most want trading agreements and quotas of hard to come by minerals and supplies, which their own areas find hard to come by. Just as it is about to end, two sudden and unexpected competitors arrive, looking worse for wear. Chase and Asher as it turns out are from the Wilds Pack of Alaska, who haven’t taken part in the Alpha Games for decades and keep completely to themselves. One of their secrets is that they can mask their scent, so Blair and Stephanie and no idea that they were even wolf shifters when they met them in the bar! It seems some of the Coastal pack tried to detain them and keep them from the competition, but only Blair can see Chase’s bruises, as they used magic to mask them. Something none of the other packs know about!
They put their reward request in to the group. They want to have Blair mate with their Alpha! Blair is enraged, but can do little about it, as this used to be a common occurrence a century ago, with female wolf shifters being in short supply in some areas, leading to declining numbers in some packs. Chase is clearly a beta, but Asher’s status is never revealed, although there are hints that he is the strongest in their pack, and he is above Chase, so could he be their alpha heir or alpha? He reports to someone, maybe the alpha, but who knows? Blair wants nothing to do with them after hearing their request, but Asher pursues her to ask for an alliance, to have a stronger team going forward, especially as they are not used to what the games consist of and know little about them. Blair has studied them for years, in preparation for this day. It seems however, that someone is loading the competition towards their own team and wants to win at all costs! Instead of only the winning team getting points towards the final total, this year, there is a descending points score, of five for first place, three for second and one for third. Any others get nothing. They have four days of events to take part in, the first is a hunt, but while it should have been simple and straightforward, Hunter is injured, leaving her to compete alone for the next game.
Blair soon finds out a few of the Wilds Pack’s secrets, about their magic and being half sorcerer and half wolf shifter, as well as the fact they are there to uncover a magical imbalance and attempt by the Greystone Coven of sorcerers, to take control of the packs and therefore most of the country. They shouldn’t be able to pass through the wards protecting the Badlands pack grounds, but obviously have the help of an opposing alpha and are skewing events for their own use. Either Hunter, Blair or the Summit Pack are being targeted, with Chase and Asher determined to root out the people behind this and also protect Blair. Her own father knows more than he is willing to tell her and disappears to deal with issues at home, making her bring Stephanie with Hunter’s stepmom to the event. Chase and Stephanie have a flirtatious relationship and I can see that going further, as both are of the partying kind. Asher is certainly growing on Blair, but she needs to make sure he and Asher don’t win, as she has no intention of being sold off if she can help it! A deadly ending to the games as one team use magic against another, with orders to kill their opponents, in a fight that should never have been to the death. Blair discovers a lot about her background she was never told and has an uncertain future ahead of her. I can’t wait to read the next book to see what happens to them all!!! Just wish I had found this book earlier, loved it! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

I enjoyed this story. The premise was great and the plot line was exciting with a lot of action. My only grip is that there wasn't a lot of romance. I imagine the author is going for slow burn but not even a real kiss?? Come on!

Good Read

This is a new author for me and I really enjoyed this read, even squeezed a few tears out if me at the end 💔 I can't wait to see where this story goes.

Blair is set to be the first ever female Alpha as her father's only heir but it seems not everyone in her pack in convinced that a female can do it on her own they want her to mate with the Beta's son to rule together but Blair is determined to use The Alpha Games to prove she can do it all. The night b4 leaving for Montana for The Alpha Games that are held every five years she and her best friend leave pack lands to go out, they meet Chase and Asher a pair of humans or so they thought bcoz the next day both males turn up the at the games representing the infamous wilds pack that hasn't participated in the games in decades the twist if they win they seek an alliance with Blairs pack a marriage alliance with Blair.
Now she's more determined than ever to win the games but others seem to have a different plan and someone is out to stop Blair and her team from not only winning but leaving the games alive, as the web of lies begins to unravel Blair will have to hope she puts her trust in the right people along the way.

Definitely Recommend Reading 📚

Midnight Moon: Alpha Games Book One is the latest in a long line of amazing books by the talented Samantha Britt, and I have to say, I am loving it. The world Ms. Britt has created is well thought out, and the mystery surrounding Blair, the Summit Pack, and the Wilds Pack kept me turning the pages well past bedtime. But who needs sleep when you’ve got a great book in your hands, right?

I loved Blair right away. She’s feisty, headstrong, and determined to not only reach her goal, but prove she is worthy of being the next alpha to her pack, despite the obstacles thrown in her way. She’s also humble and knows when to ask and accept the help she’s offered.

Asher is dark and mysterious, and definitely keeping lots of secrets. He knows more than what he’s letting on and I can’t wait to unravel it all.

Overall, this book was unputdownable. It had everything to pull me in: amazing characters and twists and turns containing some jaw-dropping and heartbreaking revelations. There’s so much more I’d love to say, but I don’t want to give anything away. All I know is that I can’t wait for book two, especially after the way book one ended.

Good base story…

… too much overthinking
The overall setup of the book is great.
Female alpha heiress, dark brooding absolutely gorgeous MC… wolf games and such. Strooong love interest (not full filled, which is okay)
BUT
I mean who wants to be somewhere where she is not wanted and not be where she’s is absolutely more than welcome…. When a strong FMC we have it’s often duty over love. That is fine. But her own pack doesn’t want her to be their own alpha so why would she choose or rather force that vs a very strong love interest where she was listened, talked to, being heard….Just to be a boss? I don’t get it…
So I may consider continuing as the base story is interesting with wolfs and sorcerers but it is too more books…. I she made my eyes roll in B1 Im sure she’s going to remain a pita… but maybe Mr. Dark and Brooding is worth it?!

Spice: 3/5
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Shifter Romance
Content Warnings: Violence
ARC Source: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Thoughts:
Midnight Moon by Samantha Britt is a fun and engaging read for fans of paranormal romance. The story delivers all the classic elements of a shifter romance, with a brooding alpha, fated mates, and plenty of supernatural intrigue. While the plot can be somewhat predictable if you’re familiar with the genre, the “Hunger Games lite” action keeps you turning the page. If you’re looking for something light, entertaining, and a little spicy, this book hits the bullseye. It’s an enjoyable escape into a world of wolves and a little romance.

No no no! That's where it ends!?! First a big thank you to Samantha Britt for this ARC and I'm more than happy to leave a review because wow! All the things I loved about this book(I can't even think of a book I haven't loved from this author) are the characters! I felt a bit of a Katness, Peeta and Gale vibe at first but was really happy when the story took a turn. The MC's were interesting and I have a feeling in book two we learn more about their pasts. For this book being about an alpha competition I was hanging on every word! There was action, love(love-ish.... attraction?), lies, magic, tempers, death and an ending that really makes me wish book two was out.

I really enjoyed Midnight Moon and can't wait for the next book in the series. Blair was awesome, and I loved her focus and determination. She already had a lot on her plate and some impressive goals she had worked her whole life towards. I definitely felt her anger at the various men who made some pretty damn big and life altering decisions for her. I would not have mind if she punched a few of them in response, but she had more restraint than I. I was not expecting some of the truths that were uncovered, and I'm so excited to learn more in the next book and see what the implications are for Blair and the others.

Would love to give it more than 5 stars an exciting really well written story with great characters and a fast paced and surprising action packed tale that I cant wait to read more of .. So far the only " heat " has been in the action and not in the bedroom so you get to know the main characters much better than normal. Hopefully we wont have a long wait till the next part as you really want to keep reading and find out what happens next.

Non-Stop Action & Intriguing Mystery

The mystery and intrigue in this book pairs perfectly with the almost non-stop action and rich world-building to create a story that gets better and better after every page. The quick pacing matched the tone of the book, creating a sense of urgency and anticipation for readers as they continue on to see what happens next. Add in the beginnings of a reluctant romance, a healthy dose of angst, and a mystery with incredibly high stakes, and this book comes together to be a fantastic PNR and an easy 5-star read.

I really enjoyed this story. The whole female alpha in training was an interesting take but while Blair was so well trained she was kinda all over the place in her actions throughout the story. Asher was obviously the alpha of his pack - but because he never said anything the amount of miscommunication was staggering. Blairs dad was a jerk. Another man that doesn’t communicate- no wonder Blair was all over the place with her thoughts and emotions. Strong ending and good fight scenes. Bought book 2 right away.

So going to the Alpha games that happen every 5 years was going to be the best experience of my life. I was going as the heir to our pack's Alpha and I was going to be the best I can be. Before the games begin each pack to say what they want , little did I know that I was going to be a prize and not one other pack said no. How do I compete in this game? I have to be number 1 so that I do not have to follow his wishes.

I'm a sucker for a great paranormal telling and so I loved this book. There are secrets being held, magic, wolves, fated mates, loss, and lots of anger on behalf of our FMC. I don't want to give out any secrets, but our FMC is one tough girl. She's independent and strong willed and eager to please but things go wrong and her future changes from anything she ever thought it would be. Go along for the ride and enjoy this amazing read.

Blair's journey is filled with action, suspense, a touch of romance and magic. I could not put this book down. I quickly became invested in the characters and needed to know what happened next. The world building was fantastic - I could easily visualize the story taking place. I got annoyed at all of the information that was kept from Blair -but a good book will evoke all sorts of emotions. There are still lots of questions I need answers to so I am very much looking forward to the next book

3.5 I would have given this a higher rating had the main characters not been so naive about certain events. My pet peeve is when characters refuse to share information, especially critical info, and when they think they can handle something on their own. It just shows ignorance and stupidity. However, I do like the premise of the book and most of the characters. I will read the next in the series.

This is a great beginning in a new shifter series. Blair is set to become Alpha of her pack. When she goes to the Alpha games her plan is to win so that her pack accepts her as Alpha. Blair nevertheless to find her fated mate while there. Especially not one from a pack that no one was heard from in centuries.

I’m in love with Blair! I want so much for her and this ending- I hope there’s some awesomeness in store for her! I’m hoping Asher is better than what I think he is right now. I love chase and Stephanie! I’m hoping they’re a couple that just haven’t realized it yet! I’m so excited for book 2!

I am truly amazed at how this story went…
So many surprises and twist and turns that I just could not stop reading?..
An excellent read….
I love the characters and all the emotional turmoil flying around….
And the good vs evil vibes laced all the way through…
Really and excellent read….

This is a good and engrossing book. However, as another reviewer stated, alphas are supposed to be the strongest in the pack. I'm bothered that Blair isn't.
I was also bothered by the original bargain. I feel it could have been a bit more realistic, such as agreeing to live there for one year and potentially mating.
Still a good book and I'm looking forward to the next one.

I received this book for free as an ARC and it did not disappoint. A strong start to the series, ending on a cliffhanger that makes me wish the next book was already in my hands. Full of strong characters, twists and turns, and wonderful world building that made it hard to put down. I loved this book and had a lot of fun reading it as well.

The Alpha Games: A competition where shifters from all over North America compete to see who will be named the leaders of our race. No female has ever entered before that is until Blair! She’s strong, she’s tough and she is determined to show her worth! It’s an incredible read, exciting, captivating and I’m looking forward to more!
