After the death of his parents, Nyx is sent to an unfamiliar pack where his terrible fiance awaits. While there, he receives the worst news an omega can get. He is infertile, a condition that his mate-to-be does not take well. Now his life is in danger, and Nyx has to take drastic action in one last desperate attempt to survive.
He summons the God of Fertility to ask for his protection, in return for his price... to carry the god's child, a cost that Nyx sees as the fulfillment of his most desperate desire.
“You know the cost for my favor, do you not? […]” “Yes. I know the cost.” “And what is it that you seek in return, omega?” “What I seek is the price itself. […]”
I really liked the first half of the book and the cover, hence the three stars. It was a pretty good story up until Eion [the God of Fertility] fell in love with omega Nyx right at first sight (or better at first rummaging through his body and mind) and instantly chose him as his mate. It felt a bit presumptuous to me. After that it was all veeeeery sweet - to a point where it was simply too much for me.
What I liked even less than the insta-love part in this one was that there were absolutely no barriers between them or privacy. Not in their thoughts, memories, not even their dreams. I didn’t find that romantic or desirable at all. Quite the opposite, tbh.
There were certain other things that didn't work for me as well, so the more the story progressed the more it became uncomfortable for me to read and I liked it less and less. Pity, because I liked the idea of the story very much.
My advice: only consume when you are in a suitably sappy mood to find that all endearing as hell. (which, admitted, I was not.)
I LOVE this book 💜 the lore concept, characters and the plot damnn. too bad it’s a short book :’) Nyx's a soft omega who wants to have pups to take care of. I hate that he was abused I don’t like omegas that are discriminated in books, but the redemption 😮💨🤌🏻 and Eion, he’s the God of Fertility who secretly wants to have a family and take care of pups too. Sooo fated ehehh and damn, he’s so overprotective and sweet 😭😭😭
This book has fated mates, overprotective hero, hurt-comfort, mpreg and rescue trope 💗
Some people said the monologues were too much and repetitive, I do agree it was quite a lot, but luckily, I found the details very entertaining. Clearly, it worked well for a short book and I like this a lot I can actually see this as a great book if it’s full length with lots of depth. And if I hear one more “little one” and “pups” I think I’m gonna die 😮💨😮💨 ooh! and also “little dove” aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh
Thanks to Iman's lovely review, I immediately picked up God of Fertility.
It was beautiful and so emotional for such a short story. It pulled me right in. The concept, the lore, and the potential are there. It is not perfect, but it worked for me, and I enjoyed it. I just wish it was longer and more flushed out. It is dual POV, and it swaps between paragraphs, so that can definitely be jarring and not something everyone will like. Honestly, the love between Nyx and Eion is so tender and passionate. I love how Eion was so protective of Nyx and ready to do anything to protect him.
Overall, it hit all the aspects I like in my omegaverse stories, but the only negative is that it was too short (I keep saying that but!!!), and lots could have been done to expand the story. There is so much potential in the world that Jett has created. I want to see if the other gods may find their mates, more of the dynamics between packs, and the relationship between the Gods and mortals.
This is my second book by Jett, and I really enjoyed their take on Omeagverse. 4.5/5 - round up
this is so sweet and i did enjoy it, however it literally felt long for such a short book. the internal monologues bored me a bit and i feel like this focused a lot on things that i didn’t care about and too little on the interesting parts. (read: sex) the ending was a bit abrupt and i really wanted an epilogue or at least for the story to progress a little bit more.
Everything was going fine. I was reading and enjoying this book…. Sure, there was some unnecessary over explaining, like telling us Nyx used the straps on his bag meant for tying things to tie stuff to his bag… but we’ve all been guilty of that.
Chapters 1-3 were smooth sailing (if you ignore the misuse of flower instead of flour). But then Chapter 4 can along. Up until this point, the narrative had been from Nyx’s POV, but suddenly, every few paragraphs, the POV switches to Eion. Not only does the POV swap every couple paragraphs, there is also the absence of anything indicating that we’ve jumped heads. There’s no page break, you just got to read and wait til halfway through the paragraph to figure out who’s narrating what.
I dislike dual POVs. I really dislike when the head jumping is happening from one sentence to the next. I really dislike when a book is written and formatted in a way that makes the swap unnoticeable at a glance.
An infertile omega named Nyx, runs away from his abusive pack to get help from Eion, the God of Fertility. Nyx's heart has one desire - a pup of his own. Eion's lonely, longing for a family of his own. Turns out, Eion & Nyx are mates. 🫶 It's the magic of insta-love. ✨
After Eion punishes the pack members who hurt Nyx, they go to live in the realm of the gods. Mating happens. They soon have a pup. HEA.
This is the 3rd book I've read by this author. Once again, little to nothing interesting happens, making it a dull read. One of the primary problems is that the story is told mostly through inner monologue, with sparse dialogue and little to no action. An abundance of descriptions further slows down the passively written, short story. Leaving this reader disengaged and disenchanted.
🚫 No more attempts to read books by J.M. Not until they learn how to add any of the following: action / suspense / tension / angst / depth / world-building, and in this case - dialogue.
Finally got a chance to revisit this author! I recently read one of their newer books for the first time and I already knew that this Masterson’s works would be beyond my expectations. Didn’t have a chance to read another of their books yet, but this was the one. Oh my goodness, my heart has melted. That was an angst beginning for the sweetest ending. The only complaint I can make is that it ended too soon. Would’ve loved to read more!
All he ever wanted was family. To be betrayed by the one that supposed to protect him. He finds love and happiness in the one the every one fears but wants
This novella was terribly, earnestly sweet. Zero angst, any semblance conflict was resolved less than halfway thru. And that was not what I was looking for.
DNF @58% ... I think I just have to face the fact that this author isn't for me. While I've mostly enjoyed the stories in the other two books of theirs that I read, I ended up skimming a LOT of those due to the repetitive, slow, endless wordiness of the author's writing style. There are so many elements of their storytelling that I like, but the execution just doesn't work for me. When I started yet again to skim this one and feel bored, I threw in the towel, and I think this is it for me. I'll leave this author's future titles to readers who enjoy the style more than I do.
I wasn't a fan of the writing in that it was bogged down in the manner things were taking place - heavily detailed descriptions, repetitions and inner monologues (thank God Nyx+Eion could communicate telepathically or there would have been a lot of dead air) which ended up just prolonging the prose and in my head it was a droning story.
What I will rate 5 stars for is the vengeance/punishment that Eion meted out. Each person got their just due because of how they had treated Nyx and that's what actually made me finish the story.
This book was surprisingly unique in the sense that it took a different approach than I was expecting. It’s definitely more of a quick read than anything but, even so, the development was realistic. The idea of their touch being able to connect them through emotions and thoughts made the relationship progress really fast BUT at the same time, made that fast progress believable and fun to read.
The concept was so different and I’ve never read this kind of take on an omegaverse story before. And, the writing itself? WOAH BUDDY. Some of the descriptions were so vivid and beautiful that I had to reread them. Overall, if you’re looking for a slow progression/modern progression with a realistic sense, this story probably isn’t for you. But if you’re looking for a sweet quick read that still has depth and emotion, you’ll love this one. ❤️✨
The only thing holding me back is that the main character Nyx is a little bit detached in the sense he doesn’t seem as realistic. He’s almost a little bit TOO sweet to be real and has little personality outside of being a caretaker and warm-hearted person. I’m sure if it were a longer story, it would have delved more into hobbies and other aspects but again, it’s more of a cute quick read than anything.

A quick, emotional, sweet little romance between a human omega and the God of Fertility, Eion. After finding out he’s infertile, Nyx’s betrothed beats him and threatens to kill him. In despair, Nyx reaches out to the God and when Eion appears and sees the bruised and broken state of the beautiful omega, he knows he’s found his mate.
Let me just say I love the punishments Eion put on Nyx’s ex-betrothed and the other people who hunted him down. It was harsh but we’ll deserved.
After the drama of the first handful of chapters, we’re left with one of the sweetest, most beautiful little romances. There’s very little communication but the actions are amazing. And when Nyx accepts Eion as his mate and becomes pregnant with his pup, gah! I was so happy.
A super quick, lovely little mpreg that just made me smile, y’all. The author has a strange way of switching POVs that can get confusing but I become so absorbed in the story it’s easy for me to follow.
I liked the idea of this story, a broken man saved by a powerful god. However calling this a shifter series is a lie. The only feature linking it to any kind of shifter series is the mpreg. Which really, a fertility god could have made that happen without trying to say the “humans” were wolf shifters. That’s the other thing, trying to say their shifters but only referring to them as humans really annoyed me being a discrepancy.
When the MC meets the god, suddenly he sees all and feels all the gods life. That’s just lazy. Making it so the characters don’t even have to build a relationship or trust or even attraction, by “showing memories and emotions through his powers” just killed the whole idea for me.
Don’t really know what else to say but I was expecting more, and although I did finish it, it could have been great if not for cutting corners.

Jeff Masterson has done it again with another amazing book. While this book is shorter than his usual books it’s still sweet and amazing. You read through Nyx’s pov first and you learn to love him cause he’s so sweet and even through hardship he never changes. You read through his abuse then finding Eion. Eion has been alone a long time and he seeks a mate of his own as well as children to hold. Together both Nyx and Eion find one another and fill the void in their own lives. I wish the book was longer. But overall it was a sweet quiet book with not too much turmoil.
I went in without knowing it was an insta-love so that was disappointing. The book starts off well and strong, emotional, excellent setup and writing style. Then bam, 30% in or so, they meet, it's insta-love (explained not poorly) and then the rest of the 70% of the book was basically a very long epilogue without a hint of drama and tension. So, for me, the book had all this nice build up and then nothing after. a slowly leaking balloon. It was disappointing since I had really wanted more. Even if they could have had the rest of the 70% as a falling in love story I would have thought it was great. But they were already in love, so the rest was fluff the story didn't need.
Nyx is an Omega who has just discovered he is infertile. When his Alpha fiance found out, he did NOT take it well. Nyx packed his belongings, stole a summoning spell and ran for his life. When he felt he was far enough away, he summons Eion, the god of fertility. When they meet, Nyx and Eion are smitten.
All the drama happens in the first half of the book. The rest is the MCs getting to know each other and get comfortable with their new life. Nyx gets pregnant and eventually, he meets Eion’s friends (other gods).
DNF @45% Things are explained quickly and in passing (everything is going a 1,000mph) BUT the biggest sin for me?? Insta-love and insta-lust. Missed me with that shit.
Less than 40% (way less) and there were I love you’s thrown around and just “love” and talks of “mates” everywhere. It was lazy. No effort was put in the forging of this romance (in my humble opinion. God, I hate insta love and “fated mates” books)
Nyx and Eion are utterly perfect for one another. Nyx is infertile and Eion as the God of Fertility has been looking for a mate that he can cherish and who will bare his pups. One summoning and a proposal later, their oh so sweet journey begins.
If you’re looking for a sweet omegaverse tale with an overprotective alpha and a sweet omega, this is the perfect story for you.
I was leary about reading this book. I am not into gods and so I thought I could try it and if I didn't like it I didn't have to finish it. Well the writer grabbed me at page one and the journey was amazing. Our two MCs are so sweet I got a cavity. Their love is felt through the pages. It made me wish for someone to love me like Eion loves Nyx. So worth the read. Low angst and sweet read
Tbh I don't think this book is amazing, but I did enjoy it. I think if you genuinely want to get the most out of it, you need to go into it not thinking of it as a fully fleshed out romance and more like.. a fairytale. Like it's a prerequisite novella about the lore of a world/ a short version of the myth of how the God of Fertility met his mate etc. If you think of it in those terms then it's a lot more enjoyable imo.
Not a bad read. I liked the premise of the story and loved the beginning how he comes in to save him in his time of need. After that the connection didn't seem as robust. This may be that they shared alot of the connection building and feelings through touch. Which was not bad but I felt like it left me lacking for some of that insight.
Overall not a bad read i think each of them are a good fit for each other.
I loved this little story so much. I was worried that it was going to be all sex but I really wanted to read an mpreg book where infertility was talked about so I figured I could just skim over the spicy scenes if it got to much. But there was more plot and heart than spice in this book and I absolutely loved it. The characters made my heart clench in sympathy and made me rejoice when they got to be together ❤️
3 stars. This was precious as hell but entirely too short. I wanted more and I think this would’ve benefitted from at least a hundred more pages because while I did like Nyx and Eion together, them as characters were very one dimensional and I just wanted more. I did like the writing and the world building though. A quick, entertaining read.
This was a really sweet and beautiful story. The beginning had me in tears… with all that suffering. I felt so bad for Nyx, but I was relieved he found Eion. I strongly believe that he was supposed to be infertile so they could find each other, and so Nyx could bear his children. It was fate! I would love to read more stories in this world, with the other gods
