Heartbroken and miserable, Andrea is trying to get over the man she so desperately loves. Seeing Lex at work nearly every day makes it impossible to heal, but the idea of never seeing him again is even worse. When she's at her lowest and has lost all hopes of mending their relationship, things take an unexpected turn.
Soon, as life keeps pushing them together, neither of them has the strength to keep fighting the overwhelming feelings that draw them to one another. Both of them are filled with insecurities and self-doubts, and if they want to embrace the unconditional love that ties them together, they will have to grow past those, and accept that they are made for each other.
Life won't make it easy, though, and complications keep getting in their way. If they can overcome it all, their bond will grow stronger, deeper, and unbreakable. But can things really work out between two people so different from one another?
Ahhhh the angst... the spice... the feels... (I still haven't recovered)
Again 5 stars.
The first book was a rather basic book: A woman in an unknown city with new work, new coworkers, new friends finds herself very attracted to her boss and has a multitude of problems. Don't get me wrong please, the first books was still 10/10
But now the second book is where it gets more complex. We get to know Lex so much better, his problems and issues, the way he views himself and the world... Their relationship has ups and downs as they learn how to deal better with each other's insecurities and needs. It's wonderful to see them grow individually and together. I was mad at them, I was sad with them, I was happy for them... I wanted to scream at them, though I probably wouldn't have been much better in their situations.
Although the characters made choices I did not always like, I could always understand where they were coming from. And those imperfections just made the characters so much more perfect and real to me.
And even tho there's so much angst in this book, there is also so much fluff. And thank gods because otherwise my heart could not have survived it.
Again this review is not leading anywhere, so I just wanted to thank the author for writing these books. (And I'm sorry I didn't comment on the wattpad book, but I was reading on flight mode to avoid the ads - my votes probably did not come through either)
If you've made it this far, please immediately go read book one on wattpad.
The drama and scandal Darla Cassic brings to the table in the second book of “Series of Lines”…
The drama, the romance, the intrigue, the steam— from a CEO trope to a loop-de-loop rollercoaster of emotions, and an ending that will make you drop your device in absolute shock. Personally, I cried.
There were so many things, following the ending of book one. Without revealing too many spoilers for those who are peeking glances at reviews (stop it, just go read it!), I will say that I was emotionally unprepared for every twist and turn.
There were moments I hated Lex, rolled my eyes at Andy’s jumps to conclusions, and cried through their break up. (Spoiler alert.) That was the whole fun in it, though, because Darla Cassic’s writing was so descriptive, thought provoking, and heart wrenching all at once.
There was more romance, our usual steamy scenes (Slex, if you will 😏😏😏), and the ENDING. ONCE AGAIN. HAS CRUSHED MY ENTIRE FREAKING HEART.
I don’t think I’d ever been so invested in a series before. Darla’s writing will do that to you. It’s addictive.
I thought I only read parts of this book, but then revisited it and remebered I read the whole thing. Not as good as the first one, I have skipped some parts. The writing is good, it was just too long for me. I enjoyed it, though the ending was just not my type of a story development. I haven't read the third part, just the steamy bits.
