In this new series by #1 bestselling—and critically-acclaimed—mystery and suspense author Kate Bold, Camille Grace, a rising star in the FBI’s BAU unit, is dispatched to the one place she vowed to never return: the deep South. When bodies turn up in the swamps, victims of alligator attacks, something seems awry, and Camille must discover if this is mother nature—or the work of a new serial killer.

Camille clashes with her partner, convinced there is more to the deaths than alligator attacks—and yet she, herself, is puzzled: who would commit such a twisted crime? Why?

At the same time, Camille feels compelled to dive back into her sister’s cold case, and into the disappearance that has haunted her for her entire life. Might she find a new lead?

First, though, she must race a ticking clock to save the next victim in time.

Unless the killer finds her first.

Do same research!!!

The story is pretty good. Special Agent Palmer is a stand alone character. He has all the gruff in the right places. And he knows to make others laugh. Now Special Agent Camille looks like she needs some more work. Some times during my reading I felt like is was read a Nancy Drew novel. Not enough FBI material, especially on how this works. Do yourself a favor do some research on the FBI, State Highway Patrol and local police.

I’m not a big Frieda McFadden fan… no, no need being nice, I’m NOT one. 😂

But these almost feel like the popcorn thriller, corny bs (like Frieda does) but in the police procedural world. 😂

Camille is trying to move forward with her life but the past - her sister's disappearance and her relationship with her father - keeps on dragging her back. She is assigned her first case, it seems an easy one, but she is not convinced, and as she digs into the victims' lives she realizes she is at a dead end unless a new victim shows up. Will she be able to solve these murders and find the culprit? Will she be happy with Palmer as her new partner? Good story and plot.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my unbiased opinion.

A body of a young woman was found in the swamps, Special Agent Camille Grace is sent to investigate. in a swampy area in the last four days.

The two bodies had been found in different parts of the woods, in different swamps. Wendy Pullman was the second body they'd found. The victims both appeared to be attacked by alligators .

Just fifteen days after closing a case in New Orleans and briefly revisiting her place in Alabama, Special Agent Camille Grace is heading back to Louisiana. She’s been finally transferred to the New Orleans field office.

CAMILLE IS BADASS FBI BAU AGENT AND LIKE SO MANY OTHER BOOKS SHE HAS A MISSING SISTER. I GUESS SHE WILL BE SEARCHING FOR HER SISTER IN FUTURE BOOKS WHILE SOLVING OTHER CASES ON THE SIDE. IT IS AN INTERESTING BOOK AND IT HELD MY INTEREST AND I DID ENJOY IT. ;D

It’s an easy read and not a bad story, if you can get past the grammar errors and lack of proofreading.

It was an easy read, but very similar to most other FBI type books out there.

I hadn't read the first book in the series, and while there were some references I didn't fully understand, it didn't take away from the story.

The Voice Acting in the audible format of Not Now by narrated by Laura Covarrubias is cringeworthy. I'm going to finish the book but if the voice acting is as bad in Book 3 is this bad, I don't think I can struggle through.

Laura's voice is pleasant but very soft. Then another character blasts your ear drums at a volume much, much higher (like TV shows and commercials)

I don't know who the other voice actors are but every one of them is horrible. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard. Middle school students could do as good a job.

A body has been found in the swamp and the FBI has been called in. This is FBI agent Camille Grace's first case since moving back to New Orleans. Agent Scott Palmer wants to get more involved in field work he is happy to be helping on the case. He is happy to be working with Camille as he really hopes that they can be friends but he is worried that she might not want to pick up from where they left things.
Camille is happy to be working with Scott again as they worked well together on the last case.
When they get to Hen Creek the case seems to point to an alligator attack so that should be the end of end but another body is found. Can they find out who is killing the victims and making them out to be animal attacks?
Camille knows that she can let things get away with her as she can rush into situations but can she persuade Scott to see what she does? Can they stop the killer before more victims are killed?
The killer has been very careful until now but they wont stop until they find their man.
A good solid read. Camille is a good person that just gets tunnel vision at times but she is good at her job. She won't stop until she finds her missing sister. Scott is more laid back but he is also a good agent that is the more calmer of the two. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book

Camille is a FBI agent who goes to New Orleans to help Agent Palmer on a case. Before she leaves she tells her boyfriend - get a job or leave. In New Orleans women are found dead , no seen injuries, all put in the same position, all resembled each other. Camilla was a smart FBI agent. She also was fast to handcuff anyone who got testy with her. She used to live there when she was younger and had to many memories she tried to forget. Not everyone one seen what she did or why she did it till later on. She insisted on seeing the girls bodies and when she did she found small needle marks on them at the same spot on their bodies. Well it lead to researching voo-doo and black magic. Was that somehow involved and why there was nothing else to indicate to why and how these girls where killed. Oh and when the case was over and she went home , her boyfriend still had no job. So she packed a bag , told her BF " The rent is due on the 15th of the month - and left.

Heading to the swamps

This series is set in the small towns surrounding New Orleans, Louisiana. The main characters, up to this point, have been Agent Palmer and Agent Grace who find themselves with some very interesting backwoods crimes. Agent Camille Grace is a strong willed woman who isn't going to take any lip from a man, no matter his position within or outside of the FBI. As a result of her independent nature she ends up in some dicey situations, but she's not about to wait around for a guy to rescue her, most often it's quite the opposite. I've found the first 2 books of this series to be very interesting with moments of entertainment that are a little different from the norm. Definitely a little different, in a good way!!

Definitely a thriller

The plot was really good. The scene is set in the bayou area of the south where crocks are not only there but a huge part of the story line.. The author did a great job of putting in the muddy merkey crock infested swamp.
Needless to say some of the scenes were not really believable but after all it is fiction. I really didn't get a good feel of just what the characters looked like so I made them up in my head.
As far as the plot goes Camille really ran the show. I had a problem with how she jumped from suspect to suspect without a good reason.
I really enjoyed the book but I don't know who, if anyone, edited it. It really needs an overhall in that department.

Story was interesting enough to keep me reading as it was a different sort of plot. I was fascinated with the alligator angle. For a quick ‘filler’ read between more substantial books, it was good for that.

But a few things ranked it down in my book. Firstly, the FBI agent, Camille, is meant to be a BAU agent. There was very little from that angle at all, which is a real shame. It was weak to say the least.

I also read this on Kindle and the amount of typo errors and mistakes was pretty bad. I had to report so many of them, which interrupted the flow.

Overall, it was okay if you’re just looking for a quick read. But I’m not sure I’ll read any more of the series.

Not Now (Camille Grace FBI Suspense Thriller #2) was a great read by Kate Bold. Camille Grace is once again dispatched to the Deep South. Bodies are turning up in the swamps and look to be victims of alligator attacks. Something seems awry and Camille must discover if it is Mother Nature or another serial killer. She clashes with her partner and is convinced there is more to the deaths than just alligator attacks. Camille also feels compelled to dive into her sisters cold case again. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

I'm enjoying this little series that started with voodoo and navigated to alligators. They are short and sweet and don't dwell too much on the 'procedural' part of the investigation so they don't drag on. Nothing too overly unique in the murder aspect of these, but distinctive enough in some character development and circumstances.

I suspect there will be advancement of a romance and a deeper dive into her relationship with her dad and missing sister as this goes on. I'm up for the ride.

Not too bad. It’s an easy listen and under 5 hours. It’s straight and to the point without a lot of fluff. I will say, I’m not a fan of the various narrators in the book. Some have “life” and some are “dull”. That being said, it’ll be an easier read than audiobook in my opinion.

Okay, as far as the storyline goes it was well put together and each pertinent character had a story.

It took me a couple of minutes after I completed the book to figure out how the title tied into the story.

Good read!

I don't I have read any novels by Kate Bold; and this is a good one. The story is very interesting and not a cookie cutter of any run-of-mill detective stories.
I liked it because every few pages the clues that the
FBI are chasing keep leading to more questions than answers. I like novels set in the south and New Orleans. (I live in Mississippi and not far from New Orleans) Dead bodies keep showing up and have been savaged by alligators. The question is: Were these people dead before the alligators or after?
ENJOY THE CHASE!!

I found "Not now" to be a most enjoyable and suspenseful reading. The development of the plot with all its horrible descriptions was interesting and the revelation of the murderer was not foreseen.
A "fitting" end to the murderer, although I cannot help but wonder what if he had been handed over to to the justice system / courts? The relationship with Camille's partner was well done and I look forward to reading further books of Kate Bold.

Kate Bold did it again in Not Now (Camille Grace, #2). Camille comes back to New Orleans working with the FBI. She gets handed her first case in the area after seeing her father for the first time in years. The case should be an open and shut case--but Camille finds that all is not as it seems. If you enjoy a myster/thriller with twists and turns then this series is for you. I am looking forward to reading the next Camille Grace adventure soon!

A first-class psychological thriller.

Enjoyed reading this with Camille Grace and Palmer working together to find a killer using alligators to cover up his revenge crimes. Nice descriptive writing gives a feeling for the swamp and the area the investigation is in. The little bit of background about her father and sisters seems to be setting the back story for more to come. This was another freebie and I would recommend it to anyone.

Jaws of Death

A clever killer is masking murders as animal attacks. Newly transferred FBI agent Camille Grace is certain something is up. Proving it will put her in danger from both human and animal killers.

This was an entertaining read. It is fast paced. The mystery is good. Could have lived without the family drama but overall exciting read.

Great story idea

Loved the story and plot.
Some grammar issues.
Some plot inconsistencies (why were bodies found where no gator tracks were located?)
Story speed was like the main character, very to the point and fast paced. Not a lot of banter.

Romance level: no kisses, no romance.

This is the 2nd in the Camille Grace FBI series. Although I liked the first one this one just didn't seem to pack the punch the first one did. Camille is just as stubborn and tenacious in this one as the first I just didn't find it as interesting.

I would suggest you read it for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

I guess I should say this is too short but when I got to the last page I felt like I had just read a full, solid story. Way to go! I really, really enjoy this protagonist. She’s a woman and she’s tough, she’s smart and even when she’s emotional it is doable. The mystery was well plotted out and intriguing. Her interesting men around her are people I’d like to see more in the future.

suspenseful

Camille heads to the swamps to determine if recent deaths were accidental or not. The following days prove to be frustrating and terrifying. Also trying to deal with family issues, she’s not sure if coming home was a good move or not. This book was hard to put down. My only wish is that it had been better edited.

Another great thriller from Kate Bold

Having lived in the swampy area around New Orleans, Camille Grace vows to never return. However, as an FBI agent assigned to the area, she no longer has a choice. Her background in this region helps her solve many serial killings. She works well with other agents and gives insight into the minds of serial killers!

Not Now feels very similar to the first in the series. Camille moves back to the south, takes on a new case and still has family issues. Her missing sister is mentioned several times - presumably the focus of a future novel.

This is a short book - a novella really - and is easy to read. It all feels rather unremarkable.
