Blair's life hits crisis point once again when she and Nathan return from holiday to learn that someone has stolen a very rare and powerful object from one of the local witches. Unfortunately for Blair, the object in question is a portal that leads directly into the fairies' realm… and the witch it was stolen from wants her to find it.
With all the clues pointing to the portal's thief being inside the town of Fairy Falls itself, Blair has little choice but to accept her offer. To protect the fairies who've made the town their home, Blair must contend with the paranormal hunters, scheming covens, and an enemy she thought was long gone…
Elle Adams lives in the middle of England, where she spends most of her time reading an ever-growing mountain of books, planning her next adventure, or writing. Elle's books are humorous mysteries with a paranormal twist and tons of magical mayhem.
She also writes urban and contemporary fantasy novels as Emma L. Adams.
How could this happen? I have gotten through the first fourteen books in less than a month and now I will have to wait for the next book. I hope it doesn’t take too long.
This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Blair Wilkes with a young woman who grew up in the Mundanes world. She could never keep a job for very long. Something always happened to make her either quit or get fired. She grew up and adopted family with loving parents but she just did not fit in. One day she applied for a job that she heard about from an email. Once she arrived for her interview she soon found out that not only was it not a normal job but she was not a normal person. The new town was a supernatural town full of different supernatural beings. She soon found out that she was half witch and half fairy. Mini adventures later her and the rest of the citizens of fairy falls must protect themselves against the paranormal hunters and an evil fairy that glamour himself For decades as a paranormal hunter. Many things going on but read on to see if Blair and the rest of the town folks can figure it out and survive.
Blair is back from the meeting of the head witches. Avelina has taken over her flat again and the Knobgrass coven needs her help!?!? Well, things are about to get really interesting. I love this series but, had a difficult time getting in to this book. About 2/3 of they way in it got better, so stick it out if you are able. I had to finish as this is the second to the last book in this series. 4 stars, and that was generous, in my opinion. I recommend this to all others who have read the rest of the series up to this point.
I really enjoy these books, they're a nice bit of escapism but some of the inconsistencies are really grating. One minute the door has closed to, the next the cat rushes through the now open door. Names have been mixed up too, and they're such glaringly obvious errors it would be nice if these things were caught and corrected before publishing. I really despise Aveline and everything that happens around her too, I don't know anyone who'd let someone take over the home they're paying for without some kind of push back!
I kept thinking that something, anything, would get resolved in this book. After I finished reading, the story reminded me of a can of white paint. As you add a drop of color (like a story line) it changes colors. If you keep adding the same 3 colors over and over (like the same story lines being used over and over) all you get is a muddy brown color. These books have just become a revolving door of unresolved problems. No more for me.
Wow! The last couple of chapters had me on the edge of my seat. It was what I thought was going to happen and it was also everything I was hoping for. This last book will hopefully be a satisfying conclusion to everything and a witch/fairy/hunter battle to scratch this itch for a fight I have been gearing up for. Aveline’s appearance and departure was not what I was expecting but she’d do anything for that scepter back in her hands.
While I don’t love the words, “final adventure” related to the next book coming in 2023, this installment of the adventures of Blair and company was as entertaining as the others!
Book #14 is fast paced & grabs the reader's attention immediately. Reading of Blair @ war to save Fairy Falls is interesting & the story moves at a very fast pace. She does seem to take on a lot of responsibility with each book. On to the last of her story.
