Every day is the same, working nonstop on my cattle ranch—until the US marshals need my property to hide a mysterious guest. I can’t know the details as to why he entered witness protection, but that doesn’t stop us from acting on the instant attraction between us. Hard body covered in tattoos, soul-piercing blue eyes, and a filthy mouth, he’s everything I’ve fantasized about in a man but never had.
I know getting involved with him is a gamble, and so does he. When his location is leaked, putting us both in danger, I have to decide if I’ll run to safety or stay and fight.
But when his life is on the line to save mine, is there really a choice?
Cherished by the Agent is a dual POV, forced-proximity, opposites-attract standalone novel in the In Clear Sight series. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone but, due to character crossover, is best read in order starting with Book 1, Guarded by the Marshal. Due to mention of abuse, drugs, violence, and detailed adult scenes (Grayson is not a gentle man), this book is recommended for readers 18+.
Kennedy lives in Dallas, TX with her husband, 8-year-old son, and two Goldendoodles. A bookworm at heart Kennedy loves to snuggle up in bed, or by the campfire, with an unputdownable book. Her novels are stuffed full of humorous banter, the edge of your seat suspense, and enough steam for a great facial. If you like your heroines strong yet vulnerable and sexy, tattooed heroes who can't keep their hands off their leading ladies then this author is the one for you.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the In Clear Sight series. I did read and reviewed the first book in this series, but I do think you can read this book as a standalone without any problems. I loved this book a lot more than the first book in this series. There is a lot of stuff in this book that could trigger some readers so look up the triggers before picking up this book. Also please note that this book gets very steamy so if that is not your thing you should skip reading this book. I loved the characters in this book so much, and they felt like they were made for each other. I loved the crime mixed with the country setting. There was action for the beginning to the end of this book, and I was living for every moment of it. This book was everything I wanted for a Kennedy Mitchell book. I cannot wait for the next book in this series to come out.
My favorite Kennedy L. Mitchell book yet! Grayson has spent the last 3 years as an undercover DEA agent seeing horrible things and he doesn't know if he's ever going to recover mentally. He is sent to Annie's ranch by the US Marshalls to hide out until the find the guy he narc'd on who recently jumped bail. Annie has been working her dad's ranch and is exhausted. She hasn't been able to find any proper help, her ex/occasional f buddy is giving her grief, and she's lonely after her father's death. Grayson volunteers to help out on the ranch, but their budding attraction is a distraction he may not be mentally ready for.
This book is super hot. Like seriously super hot despite it being a bit of a slow burn. There was just so much tension between them right from the beginning with little touches here and little touches there, that by the time the deed was done, I was sweating and looking for the hubby, lol. Cherished by the Agent was definitely instaLUST, but wasn't just a quick instalove. I loved how their relationship progressed and they both grew, together. FLOVED both of these characters. Annie is this tall, super competent, take no crap kind of girl who is really smart with a snarky mouth and most guys are intimidated by her. Grayson is really mentally beat up by what he's had to do for the past 3 years, but his attraction to Annie is bringing him back to center. If you like jealous/possessive heroes, he's going to be right up your alley. A protector at heart, he'll do anything for her. On top of all this yumminess, the storyline is just great and there's tons of witty banter. It's well written, moves quickly, and has lots of action and great suspense. Cherished by the Agent is a definite recommend for me!
Cherished by the Agent by Kennedy L. Mitchell is the second book in the In Clear Sight series. It is a standalone that runs concurrently of book one. It is told in first person, from dual perspective.
This is the second book in Mitchell’s In Clear Sight series. Some events in this are concurrent to parts of book 1, Guarded by the Marshal. This stands well on its own, but they’re best read in order.
Definitely heavier on the sex & romance than the suspense aspect - but I enjoyed that there was more mystery this time around. Gray & Anne were interesting characters. Gray’s time undercover for the DEA has him in hiding at Anne’s ranch.
As a Texan myself, I could relate to a lot of the story’s setting and it was fun to “see” Gray experience ranching and all it entails for the first time in his life. Anne’s love of animals and her desire to keep the family business running shown through.
I especially liked that Anne is a strong, intelligent, and capable woman. Gray supports and encourages her without trying to manage or mansplain. But he’s definitely in charge between the sheets (or on the table, against the wall, etc 😉). It works well for both of them.
Enjoyed getting to their HFN. Looking forward to Shade & Trap’s book, Saved by the Officers.
[I received a digital arc for an honest review] Cherished by the Agent is the second stand alone in the In Clear Sights series by Kennedy L Mitchell.
Ex Marine turn DEA agent , Grayson, needs to hide out when the crime boss he puts away disappeared while out on bail. That lands him at Anne's cattle ranch. Anne has been running the ranch on her own since her father passed away. She fights to be taken serious by the men in the industry and handles everything herself. Her lack of successful relationship leads her to believe she's the problem and her visceral reaction to Grayson has her interested. While she dominates her day-to-day life, she needs someone to dominate her behind closed doors. Gray doesn't think he's worthy of her attention, but she seems to be her perfect match and even if his stay at her ranch is temporary, he can't resist her. They both have dangers lurking in their lives and they will have to protect each other when it counts. Lips parted, her tongue dances with mine, stirring my soul to rise from the dark ashes where I thought it died long ago.
I devoured this one! Grayson was just absolutely delicious and pushed all my buttons. A morally gray hero who is rough around the edges and shows bits of tenderness when it comes to Anne. With Anne, he's respectful and appreciates her independence and strength. Anne is a serious badass female lead. She doesn't need Gray, but wants him something fierce. She's a wine drinking , animal loving independent woman who gets shit done. The steam of this book is off the charts and I was here for every orgasm, both the mutual ones and the one Anne reaches on her own. Seriously, this book is hot as f*ck 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 "Oh, Goldy, you shouldn't have done that." I said, panting against the shell of her ear. " But I'm f*cking glad you did. Now be a good girl for once and stay still while I mark this p*ssy as mine."
Cherished by the Agent is a romantic suspense that wasn't over the top and I really enjoyed that. It does have suspense full moments that are well-placed and fit with the story line. Mainly it focused on the intense chemistry between Gray and Anne, which I couldn't get enough of.
I was very satisfied with Cherished by the Agent by Kennedy L Mitchell. A romantic suspense with a morally gray hero, off the charts steam, ranch life, alpacas, wine drinking, two people who find their perfect match.
Such wonderful chemistry between these two characters.
4,75 stars
Gray and Anne matched perfectly. They were both strong and driven, yet they carried this vulnerability that made them relatable. I loved how they were comfortable enough to show each other their deep fears and doubts. It was also endearing the way one respected the other's decisions and didn't dismiss the other's complaints. Even when they jumped the gun, they were fast on apologizing and righting their wrongs. Their regard and care for each other's issues proved them even more honorable than they seemed at first.
Gray anticipated Anne's needs, just like she knew how to calm him and put his demons to rest. They orbited beautifully around one another and their blossoming feelings kept me hooked the entire time. Adding to all that, their chemistry was pure fire.
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Steam: 🔥🔥🔥.5 Darkness: 🤍🤍🤍🖤🖤 Sub Genres: Small town/ protector/ law enforcement/ morally grey M/F POV: Dual 1st Person Standalone? This book could be read as a standalone but due to character crossover the series is best read in order.
Have you ever KNOWN you needed to do something else but just couldn't stop reading? I am moving, I should have been only reading on short packing breaks but every time I turned around it seemed i had lost a couple hours to my "10 Minute" break. I kept getting caught up. While this might technically be termed a slow burn it was also and Instalust and some of the things that led up to the actual "good stuff" as a lot of romance readers call it turned out the be hotter than the main even! Holy cow! Heat nothing... more like wildfire!
This story turned out to be sweet even with the fact that Gray is certainly no "Gentleman" (and I LOVED it!) because they were absolutely so freaking perfect for each other. I couldn't get enough and am anxiously waiting for the chance to read the next one!
This author did it again and held me completely captivated from the first page to the last. Gray & Anne's story is full of angst, sexual tension, steam, suspense, and the best push and pull between two alpha characters. Yes, two. Get ready for Grayson to leave you fanning yourself, and Anne to show you how to be a true boss babe.
There's not a story that Kennedy L. Mitchell has released that I haven't loved big time, and Cherished By the Agent is no exception. It's the story of DEA agent, Grayson, who has been undercover for a case against a real evil man, and he's done things that have scarred him deep down. He finally is able to close the case out, but when that evil man ends up jumping bond & putting a price on his head, Grayson has to lie low somewhere, so enter Anne & her cattle ranch. I have to admit that I laughed about Grayson's preconceived notions about Anne & her family ranch because he was so wrong. Anne has no life as she's been working all the time since her dad passed away, and she just can't find good help that's for sure. She thinks there's something wrong with her when it comes to sexy time, and little did she know, Grayson, would be perfect for her & vice versa. It's not too long before the sparks flying ignite, and these two are lighting up the pages. Of course there's an ex who won't leave her alone, and the bounty on Grayson's head, so it's not long before the suspense element really pops off with twists coming in hot making it very exciting. I hope everyone hits those one click buttons since you can't go wrong with this author, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
For the last three years Grayson has been working undercover for the DEA trying to bring a dangerous man to justice. Just when he thought it was over the man has escaped custody and he has become a target so he finds himself staying on Anne’s ranch trying to keep a low profile.
Anne is strong and independent, and she believes that has some bearing on what has happened in her past relationships. She is focused on trying to maintain the day-to-day operations of the ranch however when Grayson comes to stay there is no denying the chemistry between them.
Grayson is still trying to come to terms with the emotional toll his job has taken on him but when it comes to Anne, he has a way of knowing what she needs before she does which is what makes their connection so special. Hot chemistry, suspense and two captivating characters who will keep you entertained from beginning to end.
I love a strong female heroine and Anne definitely came through in Cherished By The Agent (In Clear Sight #2). She’s such a bada$$ woman, she’s everything and coupled with DEA agent, Grayson they are definitely a force to be reckoned with. Grayson turned in a major crime boss after an undercover sting operation, there’s a bounty on his head and he needs to hide out at Anne’s ranch. There is some major sexual chemistry, combustible heat and vibes going on between them however, Grayson has reservations as he doesn’t think he’s worthy of love and affection.
Grayson and Anne are vulnerable and emotional characters, yet they fit perfectly together and Kennedy Mitchell really brings out the best in them. Anne is very bossy when it comes to her ranch and I love that Grayson lets her lead but in the bedroom, he’s a dominant alpha and it’s beyond hot and heavy. And there’s the perfect amount of engaging suspense, danger and action. This is shaping up to be another great series.
Oh. My. Damn. This book was 🔥! I could not put this book down!
Anne is a freaking badass rancher used to needing no one and doing everything on her own. Gray's an ex DEA agent laying low from a vicious kingpin. He's dominant, dirty and freaking delicious but feels like the past 3 years have broken him. The chemistry in his book practically lit my kindle on fire but the respect these two had for each other was incredible. He was strong enough to embrace a woman who didn't need him but wanted him like mad and she was strong enough to let him take control of the things she needed. The suspense of his past was fast paced and a great backdrop to the fireworks they produced.
Amazing read from Kennedy Mitchell in the In Clear Sight series. There is character crossover but this book can easily be enjoyed as a standalone.

Review:
“If you ever thought you weren’t the boss of me, you were blind. From the moment you said hi that first day you had my balls in your hands.”
After working undercover for a dangerous criminal, ex-Marine (and currently working with the DEA) Grayson has to lie low for some time and they take him to Anne’s cattle ranch in a small place in Texas.
Anne has been struggling to manage the ranch after her father died. She also feels really lonely living by herself in the big property. Their loneliness bring them together. If you think this is a story where the big bad ex-marine saves the girl, think again. Anne is a strong FMC and she is zero drama and whining. She faces situations directly and never lets things be unsaid. Also, although he has this fame of bad boy with a past not so clean, Grayson isn’t an alphahole, he respects Anne immensely and that’s what I liked best in this book. I definitely recommend it.
Oh, and the spicy scenes are super hot and Grayson is a dirty talker. So, there you have it. I definitely recommend this book.
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. ***
Like other reviewers have said, this book delivered everything promised and more. It was a perfect addition to this thrilling series. For me personally I found myself skipping parts when the heat was turned on, but unlike other books, it didn't detract from the story and we were spoiled with cover to cover action coming from all directions. Right from the get go it was obvious this couple were made for each other, but will they survive multiple threats to have a lifetime of happiness together? Highly recommend that you one click to find out.
Without giving out spoilers, I just wanted to say that Cherished by the Agent was an awesome book which I totally recommend to anyone who like a strong woman and alpha man.
Loved how he respected her opinion and her decisions. Didn't belittle her or her opinion. She is no damsel in distress and independent woman.
If you like this type of heroes and heroines, don't miss out this book.
*This is an honest review I gave after receiving an Advanced copy.
This is book #2 in the In Clear Site series and is Anne and Grayson's story. I simply adored Anne, she’s a fierce and feisty heroine who can definitely hold her own. I loved Anne and Gray’s relationship, they just seemed to fit absolutely perfect together and the attraction between these two is palpable. This book is so captivating with edge of your seat excitement, filled with angst, suspense, intensely hot steam, and a dirty talking hero that’s sure to leave you fanning yourself. A phenomenal read. Highly recommend.
Gray and Anne's story was awesome. Gray came to stay with her to hide from his past on her farm. One look at her and he knew he had to have her. She thought he was hot when she first saw him with his bad boy look and tattoos. Their story has a happy ending. Can't wait for the other books from this series to come out!
Anne and Grayson’s story was everything I was hoping for and more. Loved these characters.
When Anne and Grayson meet you can feel the chemistry between them. They aren’t looking for a relationship, but the more time they spend together, the harder it is to fight the attraction. Will they give into temptation?
Cherished by the Agent was so good. It kept me on my toes and gave all the good twists and turns.
Grayson is being protected by the US Marshalls on Anne's ranch. They have an instant attraction to each other but the relationship really starts to grow when Gray starts helping on the ranch. That's the overall romantic plot of the book. Side characters come in and give us all the twists and turns.
I loved the relationship between Anne and Grayson. They have insta-lust for each other but unlike many books that's not the main characteristic of their relationship. They develop emotionally and mentally rather than just a physical relationship.
I felt like the spice was a perfect balance with the plot which for me is a 5 🌶 The book had me smiling and really pulled me into the story. I didn't want to finish because I knew I couldn't go back once I was done 5 ⭐️ most definitely!
Cherished by the Agent is book 2 in the In Clear Site series by Kennedy L. Mitchell. Wow...This is Anne and Grayson's book. These two have a intense connection from their first meeting. Grayson is hiding out on Anne's Cattle ranch in Texas, after ended a dangerous undercover mission working for the DEA. Anne has been running her ranch alone since her father's passing. She didn't realize how lonely she really was until she meets Gray. This was a hot & steamy romantic suspense. I could not put it down. Another great read from Kennedy L. Mitchell
The second book in this series, and I loved it from start to finish.
Annie, oh man she was one hell of a kickass, and independent heroine who had a hard time believing that there is someone out there that she is worthy for. But then Gray enters her life and holy shit!!!🔥🔥🔥
Gray, after seeing the worst of the worst for the past three years, he needs to lay low and he is taken to the ranch that Annie owns but he never expected to meet/ start having feelings for Annie.
The intense chemistry and steamy as hell moments between these two where 🔥🥵🌶️. And a little action towards the end that kept you on the edge of your sit was just amazing.
5* Anne is used to fending for herself running the ranch alone since her father's death hasn't been easy but determination and hard work is something she's not afraid of. Grayson isn't expecting the connection to Anne he's there after Max decided it was the safest place to be until the case he was working on is concluded. I loved the characters definitely a book to read.
Out of all the amazing books I've read from Kennedy this is my favourite, Grayson is all kinds of HOT. He's dominating and delicious, with a dirty mouth. I loved Anne from the beginning, shes strong willed and fiesty, doesn't need anyone or anything, she can do it all herself. The heat and chemistry between them was palpable. It took my emotions on a rollercoaster ride that I didn't want to get off. Cherished by the agent is another brilliant edition to the IN CLEAR SIGHT series and an absolute must read.
Once again, Ms Mitchell gives us a gem. This book was amazing. Such anticipation of what was to come. When would the bad happen? I was at the edge of my seat a few times. The end was so intense I was getting anxious reading it. The chemistry in this book between Anne and Gray is incredible. It sizzled thru the screen. Anne is such a strong heroine. She didn't need a hero to swoop on and save the day. She is definitely one tough cookie. Her love for her animals is a sweet part of the story. Her Alpacas especially. Gray is a troubled soul. His story and his opinion of himself hurt my heart. The way he jumped in to help Anne despite that, showed he really was a good person. He just didn't see it. He is also very sexy and makes a great book boyfriend. A must read!
Book two in Kennedy L. Mitchell’s In Clear Sight series, Cherished by the Agent, confirmed that this author’s work simply isn’t for me. I read book one some time ago and marked it as a DNF. Still, book two kept appearing in my suggested reads, and the premise sounded intriguing enough to warrant another try. I shouldn’t have bothered.
When Grayson Parker’s three-year undercover mission ends and the kingpin he helped take down skips bail, Gray’s life is suddenly in danger. Max—the U.S. Marshal from book one—must find a safe haven for him, which turns out to be Anne’s ranch in Texas. The attraction between Gray and Anne sparks immediately, but complications abound: Anne’s ex-boyfriend-slash-friend-with-benefits is trying to win her back, and Gray remains a target. Against this backdrop, the two attempt to navigate their budding relationship.
I was immediately put off by the prologue, where Gray engages in an immoral act to protect his deep cover. Yes, he was undercover, but I’ve read romances involving covert operations where the author found ways for the hero to avoid crossing certain lines. This scene soured my impression of Gray from the start. I kept reading, hoping (1) the premise would redeem itself and (2) Gray hadn’t actually gone through with the act, since the scene faded to black. Unfortunately, the book never revisits or clarifies this moment, so I’m left to assume he did it.
As for Gray’s character, I genuinely wasn’t sure how to feel. He came across as clueless—Anne had to teach him every basic task on the ranch. And when the action finally kicked in, Gray did nothing to convince me he could protect himself, let alone a partner. He was overpowered so easily I nearly rolled my eyes into oblivion. For someone with military experience and three years undercover in a dangerous environment, he felt inexplicably “soft.”
Anne’s character suffered similar inconsistencies. She’s a woman in her late twenties, running a ranch after her father’s death, yet she constantly refers to him as “Daddy”—a term that felt awkward and jarring. Perhaps it’s a regional or cultural nuance, but it still landed as cringe. Anne is portrayed as tough, yet she allows her ex to treat her like a doormat. Beyond that, she’s described as fond of one-night stands and has a drinking problem. Taken together, these traits painted a picture of promiscuity that I personally don’t want to see in a main character.
Gray and Anne’s relationship felt rushed and superficial. After spending just one day together, they’re suddenly overwhelmed by deep feelings. The emotional connection was “confirmed” through Gray’s POV, but it didn’t feel believable. The sex scenes, in particular, left me uncomfortable. Anne, who hadn’t exchanged more than two words with Gray, is suddenly pleasuring herself in a hot tub, hoping he’ll see her—and he does. Again, the word “promiscuous” came to mind. When they finally get together, the intimacy lacked sensuality and care. I’ve read books with BDSM elements where emotional safety and tenderness are central, but that was missing here. Their dialogue was crass, and the physicality—Gray slamming Anne against walls, cupboards, and any available surface—was excessive, especially given that they just met.
The action, when it finally arrived, wrapped up in just a few pages. The blurb promised suspense: Gray hiding from a dangerous kingpin. I waited for most of the book for this threat to materialize, and when it did, it was resolved in under ten minutes. There was no real tension, no sustained sense of danger. Worse, the how of the kingpin finally tracking Gray down stretched credibility.
Several moments lacked logic. Anne offers to kill a nurse’s abusive boyfriend—despite being unable to stand up to her own ex. Gray contradicts himself in the same paragraph, saying he “could love” Anne, then claiming he “fell in love” with her just a few sentences later. Anne is scantily dressed in cold, wet weather. There are more examples, but I’ll leave it there.
Although the writing was not the best, I did finish the book, so I’m giving it a rating of 2. But this will be the last title I read from this author.
Cherished by the Agent In Clear Sight, Book 2 By: Kennedy L. Mitchell Narrated by: Daryl Hix, Gomez Pugh
Kennedy L. Mitchell pens another winning novel set in her “In Clear Sight” series and I loved everything about it, from her wonderful writing style to the characters and storylines she created to the perfectly cast narrators who bring it all to life from the pages to your ears. Each book in the series features different lead characters and while their story stands on its own, characters from the previous book make an appearance, so enjoying the series in order written is beneficial. This second book is Grayson and Anne’s story and Mitchell turns up the heat for these two, the chemistry between them is electric and smoking hot. Grayson, former marine turned DEA agent, has worked uncover trying to take down a crime boss who was the ringleader to a human trafficking ring exploiting young girls and women. It was a brutal assignment, and he finally takes him down, but the horrors were not over for him, because the perpetrator escaped federal custody. Grayson is forced into protective custody and is moved into witness protection, going to a safe house in Texas. Anne, a veterinarian, took over her father’s long horn ranch after his passing and it has been a struggle to keep up with the work. Part of that struggle is they do not give her the same respect as they would a man and her workers think they can get over on her, but she is one tough cookie and does not tolerate that. Anne has a cabin on her property used as a temporary safe house and Max Williams, the US Marshall, drops off her next guest, Grayson. Both Anne and Grayson are lost and broken in their own ways, but that does not stop the attraction they feel towards each other. Grayson tries to fight it, but they can only deny an attraction like that for so long. I thought these two were great together and for each other, two powerhouses that get each other. I loved how everything played out in this book, it is a cleverly plotted story with plenty of drama, some angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Kennedy L. Mitchell, thank you for entertaining me with another amazing story and wild and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧And for the fantastic narration, Daryl Hix and Gomez Pugh did an amazing job portraying the characters, giving each a voice that was fitting and was believable. Pugh nailed it as Grayson, grasping every aspect of his personality, from his tormented side and inner turmoil to his protective and caring side. Hix’s Anne was spot on, grasping her personality completely, as well as her strength and determination. Both were just as great performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this fabulous listen.
I started reading this book as soon as I had finished reading the first book! I enjoyed the first book and was looking forward to continuing the series! After reading this book, I can say that I enjoyed it just as much as the first book! The plot developed at a nice pace and it only took me a few sittings to read because I didn’t want to put it down! There was a lot of romance in the plot and it developed at a slower pace than it did in the first book, which made me happy! The romance allowed for some seriously steamy scenes between the two main characters as well! There was some action and suspense in the plot as well, which added to it and made me enjoy it more! It led to a big climax scene at the end as well! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Anne was the main female character, and in this book I had a lot of respect for her because she worked very hard to keep her cattle ranch running and she didn’t complain! She also didn’t care about her appearance and she was a complete vixen too, which I loved! Grayson was the main male character and love interest of Anne! Grayson was a guy that wanted revenge in this book and that’s what put him in Anne’s path when he needed to hide out! Grayson was an intriguing character and he changed things for Anne and the two of them made quite the team and made each other happy! Grayson was protective of Anne as well, even though she could look after herself! This book was written from both Anne and Grayson’s point of views! I was obviously expecting it to be written from dual point of view because the first book was written this way! The synopsis gives the impression that it might only be written from Anne’s point of view! I’m really happy that it was written in dual point of view because it helped me connect more with both characters and see their feelings for each other develop and see how they were dealing with the changes in their lives! It allowed for a few more things to happen in the plot as well, even though Anne and Grayson spent the majority of the plot together because of certain circumstances! I now can’t wait to read the next book in this series! I know that it’s going to focus on secondary characters in this book and be an MFM book! This has me very excited because the two male characters are very intriguing! I’m really happy that it’s already released because I’ll definitely be making it my next read! The cover for this book is also absolutely perfect for it! I loved it when I first saw it and I love how well it matches the cover for the first book! The cover model is also the perfect Grayson!
I loved everything about this romantic suspense. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. This was also my favorite book in this series. It is so well written and focus a lot on the amazing chemistry between Grayson and Anne which I really liked. They were both such strong charcters but they were also vulnerable with each other. He could understand her needs just like she knew how to calm his demons.
Anne is working really hard to run her cattle ranch after her father passed. When she is asked by the US marshalls to hide a guest on her property she agrees. There is chemistry between Grayson and Anne from the moment they meet.
Something dangerous flashed behind his eyes. I shivered at the promise of punishment for that sass. Yes fucking please.
Anne has been working so hard and she has devoted all her time to the ranch. She feels relief when Grayson wants to help her with the chores. Anne is such a kickass heroine, she is so strong and knows what she wants. She is used to taking charge but sometimes she would like someone else to take control too. Grayson could just understand what she needed and saw her heart from the start. The way he did things for her without being asked was beautiful.
“He stole a piece of my heart just by being himself and wanting me for me.”
Grayon is an ex-marine who has been working undercover as an DEA agent for the past three years, in his work there he has done some horrible things. He has hated being the bad guy for so long and now needs to get back to finding himself again. He is morally gray, protective, dominant and very alpha. He needs to feel useful and offers his help with the work on the ranch. He isn't afraid to let Anne take the lead when in comes to the ranch. He respects her and admires her strength and independence. I really liked how he supported her and saw her strength and respected her choices. He knew when to step back but he also took control and protected her when he needed to.
“Anne was everything I never knew I needed to feel whole. She made me think I was more than just a sum of my past, a monster with no future.”
I liked how he completely understood that Anne really needed a man who could handle all her strength and take control. She needed to challenge him before she felt safe enough to let go of the control she held so tightly and submit to his dominance when they were intimate. They were just a perfect match.
Once again Kennedy L. Mitchell thrusts readers into the dark underbelly of crime, and brings us alongside the good guys that keep us safe. I have long been a huge fan of how Mitchell pulls readers into the story seemingly mid-crime. And this is no different. Immediately, you will be enamored with Gray. This man has seen the darkest dirtiest parts of humanity. When his latest assignment ends and it requires him to find a safe hiding location this former Marine finds himself on a ranch in the middle of Texas with only tennis shoes. I adored his take of not only the landscape but the workings of the ranch. It takes no time before he is enamored with the ranch owner, Anne and jumps into help. And then there is Anne, we got to meet this feisty heroine in the Guarded by the Marshall and I was so excited to see she was getting a book! This heroine is no wilting wallflower. She is tough as nails and not afraid of some serious hard work. This woman is fierce, tough enough to put any man in his place, and smart as a whip. She is one serious badass Texas rancher. But after losing her dad she is lonely. And her lackluster love life is taking a toll on her. Everyone she finds doesn’t seem to get her. That is until Gray waltzes onto the ranch and into her life.
I love how these two worked together side by side on the ranch, how a big burly tough former Marine followed Ann’s lead and just did what needed to be done. The sexual tension rolled off these two in waves. Gray dominated and watched Ann submit to him. HOT DAMN. Mitchell can write an extremly hot sex scene, but my Kindle almost lit on fire (during a burn ban) when it was them, some cows, and beautifully starry sky. These two were able to give each other exactly what they each needed: control, freedom, and a partnership. They compliment each other beautifully. But when their pasts come back in full force, how they stand by each other really warmed my heart. If romantic suspense is your cup of tea, I would highly recommend this series. I am so eager for more books in this series!
“Even from the short time I’ve known you, I know you’re not the villain of your story.”
With unexpected twists and turns, a dirty-talking hero that steams up the pages and a take no prisoners heroine, Cherished By The Agent was a fast paced, steamy story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Anne and Gray were HOT!!
“He stole a piece of my heart just by being himself and wanting me for me.”
Anne is such a strong, independent woman who knows what she wants. She is used to taking charge but sometimes she would like someone else to take the reins. Gray seems to instinctively know what she needs and he sees through to her heart from the moment they meet.
“Anne was everything I never knew I needed to feel whole. She made me think I was more than just a sum of my past, a monster with no future.”
Gray is running from his past and thinks he is a monster, but underneath, he is really a fierce protector. He’s willing to sacrifice so that others have a better life. When he meets Anne, he truly begins to open up and feel for the first time in a very long time.
“You’re not broken, baby. You just needed me.”
These two have a scorching hot chemistry that lights up the pages. Plus they truly understand each other and give each other the space and support that the other needs. Their relationship develops quickly, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t have a strong foundation and a deep understanding of one another.
“Don’t let your past dictate who you are in the future. We all have a past, some of it we’re proud of, other bits not so much. That doesn’t make us good or bad—only our choices from now on do.”
Cherished By The Agent is full of heart-stopping suspense and steam. This couple fights for each other and will do anything to protect one another and had me turning the pages late into the night.
DAMN!! I am absolutely loving this series. I am claiming Grayson as another book boyfriend to add to my menagerie!!
I was instantly hooked on Grayson and Annie. Their story is filled to the brim with action, suspense, violence, emotional turmoil, drama and a whole lot of very sexy, very steamy moments that kept my panties exploding! These two had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. They also had me laughing and just plain old gushing with love and hoping that they get to have a happy ending together.
Grayson has had to endure some very depraved things as an undercover DEA agent. Some of those things still haunt him emotionally and mentally. When he is sent to hide out at Annie’s ranch, he slowly starts to be himself again and heal from all the trauma and demons he carries around with him.
Annie is just as feisty and fierce as ever. But she is dealing with some hardships herself and then trying to run a ranch on top of that without proper help. The instant attraction she has with Grayson just oozed off the pages. You could feel their chemistry. The sexual tension between them was ready to detonate at any given moment and I could not wait until the two of them collided and set off massive explosions.
I was addicted to Annie and Grayson. They were just so perfect for each other. When they were together, they were absolute pure fire!!
This story was well written with characters we instantly fall in love with (some we want to kick in the balls), and with a storyline that will keep you riveted to your seat, guessing on how it will all end, and probably rubbing your thighs together to ease the ache that Grayson will have on your lady parts.
