"If you want a better life, nobody's going to hand it to you." That is a motto Lamika finds herself living by. She's a country girl through and through, but as time progresses, she expects her life too as well. Her skillset is perfect for country living, but with her heart set on the big city, she leaves home in a rush, throwing caution to the wind to find luxury in the life she creates.
Just as easily as she moves, Lanika falls in love with Thomas Nick, THE hottest car salesman in the state. With Thomas by her side, she feels like she's struck gold. That is, until tragedy and misfortune strikes their long-term relationship, forcing Lamika to leave behind her fancy life.
In an attempt to get Thomas' attention, she stages a life-threatening situation that catches the attention of a former poet, Rushawn "Rush" Holder. From the moment he sees Lanika up close, his instincts tell him to protect her, to be there for her, and to love her. Unbeknownst to Rush, Lanika comes with more baggage than the bag lady herself and helping her to rewrite her story won't be an easy one to pen.
Will Lanika let her hurt run so deeply that she misses out on a real chance at love? Or will Rush find that loving her requires too much work and walk away as she falls? Find out now in Caught in Your Love!
I was born in Kansas City, MO, where I currently reside. I have always enjoyed writing since I was a small girl. I started off writing short one page stories. I continued to write short stories and poems. I finally decided to follow one of my dreams and signed with Unique Penn Publishers in 2015. I have released three books so far. I enjoy hearing from my readers and interacting with them, whether good or bad. Please feel free to contact me.
For the sake of this being a book club pick, I am going to write my review to reflect the conversation that will be had. Alright, for starters, I felt like overall, this was a cute short story. There were parts of the book that were kind of corny, but overall, it was cute and it does show the power of love, ESPECIALLY when you're pregnant. First of all, just to get straight to it, Lanika, why was there no contact with your family? That doesn’t make sense. Was Thomas forcing you to not talk to them? Why did you assume they wouldn't be there for you while being away trying to get your life together? I guess I am so big on family that I can't imagine going too long without talking to them. Even if you weren't disclosing information about you and Thomas, why no contact? And c'mon girl, you mean to tell me, the very place you were about to jump from, your car was there the whole time from living in it? So, what were you going to do, continue sitting there as a constant reminder? The whole pretend relationship never works out. Someone, if not both people in this case, always catch feelings. ESPECIALLY when you have sex the second day of knowing this person and you're that vulnerable. But that's neither here nor there. I think Lanika not wanting to come clean about what was really happening, even after her mother asked multiple times, bothered me a bit. She should of known that her family would still be there for her. Maybe not. IDK - I truly hate she lost her babies though and had to deal with the asshole, she called her boyfriend. And he was completely out of line for trying to buy her a card after what he did. Had the audacity to be mad when she ended up pregnant again. Boy bye. Some stuff happening truly be a blessing in disguise. Now, on to Rush! wow, he was so nice and trusting from the jump. He apparently really waited for love to come to him. I wasn't really sure what he was expecting out of going over to his parents house, but I guess he had to have some type of drama in his storyline. Rush was a really nice guy though. Love that they both found each other.
I truly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Thomas is a JERK AND TOXIC. My heart went out to Lanika on losing her babies and then to have a trifling man that disregarded her feelings was to much. I am thankful that Rush was in the right place and caught her. Rush is a true KING !!! Lanika find her person. I Love how is uplifted, encouraged and inspired her to want to be better. I am so glad when Lanika finally admitted she need help and Rush stopped everything to make sure she received what she needed to be a better person. I had tears falling from my face at the lost of Papa and that poem Rush wrote. T.Marie you definitely did a fantastic job and I truly love this book. Can't wait to see what is next!!
Baby where do I start First and foremost Thomas is a real fu**boy He pissed me off so bad Now Lanka had my heart palpitating I was no please don’t end your life like that Baby Rush came in and gave her a new outlook on life I’m glad she finally admitted she need help cause baby she had me crying my heart out Now Papa his passing hit me hard and the way everybody was crying I was sad Now Rush parents need to go play in traffic cause he turned out just fine without them Will there be a part 2 or a spin-off in da making 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This Was A Good Read...It Was Deep And Spoke On A Lot Of Things That's Going On In The World To Day. Depression, & Suicide Is Real And There Is Nothing Wrong With Getting Help. That Was Messed Up How Lanika's Ex Thomas Did Her. Like, How He Gone Blame Her For Losing Her Kids And Broke It Off With Her Afterwards. I Am Glad Rush Came Into Her Life. Rush Was There For Her Every Step Of The Way. This Was A Very Touching Story And I Was Too Happy That Lanika And Rush Got Their Happy Ending. I Loved It! ❤❤❤
This was a good read. Lanika went through deep depression to the point she wanted to end her life. Losing a child is hard and she didn't have the right person to help her. Rush was life for Lanika a real man unlike the Thomas dude she first dated. Thomas was real selfish and didn't care what Lanika was going through. This story touched depression and got emotional good read.
I loved this well written emotional story. The pain, despair, and hurt had me all in my feelings. The way this couple met was was at her lowest point in her life, but became the turning point. The love of her friend, lover, and then husband was what her heart needed and what his heart also needed. So glad I read their story.
This was definitely a good book. Thomas was no good but rush was the right one for lanika. Loved how her family supported her. When the grandfather passed I was in tears. Loved how rush helped her by getting the help that she needed. Definitely would recommend this book.
This was such a good book. It had me all in my feelings. I cried and cried some more. If you are looking for a good book that will have you in your feelings look no further.Great read!
Thomas knew he messed up but he still hated to see Lanika getting loved on correctly, Rush did just that their chemistry was everything he let be her find what she wanted to do and he got her help so she could become better!!
This was the love story of the year. Omg this was AMAZING. I didn’t want it to end. This read was AMAZING from the beginning to the end. Every part of it. Thanks for the AMAZING READ.
Thomas was a very bitter man but Lanika told him off good. I was glad the she got the help she needed bc Rush loved her unconditional and stood by her though it all and they finally got their happy ending. What an amazing story without a lot of drama
At this point I going to find a curb or step to jump off of and see if my Rush catch me. This book definitely in the top 10 for 2022. I am sorry Thomas got off to easy it would definitely been on sight every time I saw that selfish bastard. Overall great read
Lanika went through it with Thomas. He tried to break her, but God had other plans. The love of her life literally caught her when she was falling. Great story, a little repetitive but over all great read. Rush is definetly bae!
This book was amazing from start to finish, I want to be loved like this, the title is so fit for the story, it was so refreshing and therapeutic, best book this far of 2022
I’m so glad she found her knight and shining armor and they are happily married and having babies. Thomas was a straight A-hole and he didn’t deserve her.
Omg thus emotional rollercoaster had me everywhere. Jesus be the reason! This lady had been thru the wringer and back. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that everything that play in our head its always gonna be that outcome. But I'm glad she was loved to the max by all the right people.
