Nothing Serious

Rate this book
Vivaan Rajshekhar’s first meeting with the haughty Dr. Ira Deshmukh is like a fantastic figment of his imagination. To his annoyance, he finds that Ira has agreed to be betrothed to another man. Being the proverbial, successful, commitment-phobic bachelor, Vivaan’s views on love and marriage are equivalent to leaping off a cliff, hoping to sprout wings during the free fall.

Despite the fiery attraction she feels for Vivaan, Ira is determined to marry the man her father has chosen, for reasons she cannot reveal. When she reluctantly agrees to work at Vivaan’s charity hospital in a remote village, she doesn’t expect her decision to upend her life.

Seeing that Ira is unhappy with the arranged match that is part of a business deal, Vivaan employs all his wily tactics of persuasion with the intention of convincing her to ditch her overbearing fiancé. His charming attempts at seduction, disarms an old-fashioned but feisty Ira. However, his grand schemes are shot down in flames when he realises that Ira is not easy game. She refuses to have an affair with him, even though she is helplessly drawn to his warm, charismatic personality.

The tug of war tangles them in an ambiguous bond of sterling friendship, unbending restrictions, ridiculous banter, and unrequited passion.

Until Vivaan discovers the truth behind Ira’s stubborn resistance... Would they be able to resolve the deadlock? Or would Vivaan have no choice but to let Ira go?

This is a sweet love story with lots of drama throughout. The protagonists share beautiful chemistry and I was rooting for them throughout. The relationships between sisters, mother and daughter, father and daughter etc, were very important and an essential part of the story. I enjoyed this book and would love a sequel.

A sweet romance, which not only is about the main characters but also about their families. There is a lot of drama including hiding inside a wardrobe. It depicts the relationship between parents and children, and between siblings. The characters are depicted beautifully and are realistic. Their feelings have been described well and the story moves at a comfortable pace. Ira is strong and I could understand her point of view when it came to her loyalty. I loved the book and would like to read about these characters more, maybe a story for Kritika.
A must read.

It is a breezy romance with touches of light-hearted humour, fragmented family ties, and complex relationships.

Vivaan's character is vibrant and self-assured, providing the buffer needed for Ira's intense, conflicted personality. The scenes are written very well, especially the nuanced dialogues between the protagonists.

The unexpected twist, in the end, resolves issues beautifully. A must-read for romance lovers!

Dr Ira Deshmukh and Vivaan's meeting was unusual, crestfallen Ira and drunk Vivaan exchange lot of emotions without uttering a single word.
Ira has her own set of troubles and Vivaan's persistence to woo her is adding to it.
Its refreshing to read how Vivaan keeps bringing drama and some light moments in Ira's otherwise staid life.
It's a Slow burn romance, Leena's writing as always lucid. I really liked how thoughtfully she had weaved mental illness in the story.
