“You can’t always get what you want.” “But, if you try, you might find…”
You’ll get exactly what’s coming for you.
FBI agent Olivia Knight has seen the realities of what happens when nightmares come to life. When she’s called to investigate a case of an apparent murder-suicide in an affluent community. She finds herself buried by the unexplainable questions that arise regarding the couple's seemingly perfect life. When a deep dive into the life of the philanthropic couple leads to a revelation to a potential double life. Olivia finds herself wondering if their hidden life finally caught up to them...
They say the purest form of good in this world is love. But what happens if the love you feel is all a lie? What happens when the thing you love the most turns into a monster that breaks you?
With her own romantic life in shambles, Olivia begins to wonder what price one is willing to pay for love? And what is the truth behind this case of love, lies, and suicide?
Elle Gray lives in a small town with her 2 cats, and her handsome husky. As a girl, she was obsessed with crime novels and thrillers.
Today, she loves writing and creating thrilling novels with courageous, strong heroes/heroines and dangerous psychopaths. She invites you to join her exciting world of detectives and FBI agents that take down killers and kick butt.
These books are getting worse as they continue. The "seasoned" detective, always chewing her cheeks or lips, constantly going into the same detail over and over about her Mom and family and feelings for Brock. Very little of this book was about the mystery and solving it was a fairy tale, made from clues that weren't even connected to crimes they were aware. I had a hard time finishing.
It feels like the author (or in this case, authors--maybe that's the issue) is writing too many series and doesn't have enough time to develop a full story for each novel, so instead she repeats things again and again. We know Olivia's upset. We know she's conflicted. The problem with spelling it out for us, continuously, is that Olivia doesn't feel like the "strong heroine" Elle wants to write but instead like a spoiled child who doesn't know her own mind. And that's too bad because she has potential.
I didn’t like that Olivia seemed so unbalanced and emotionally immature. Her meeting back up with her ex fiancé plays out unrealistically. The murders in the book were interesting but not fully developed. I much prefer the Blake Wilder and PAC Arrington series.
I enjoyed book 4 of the Olivia Knight series—still not as much as the Blake Wilder series, but it’s something to hold me over while I wait for new releases.
That said, I agree with other reviewers: I really wish Elle Gray would stop portraying Olivia as so nervous and overly emotional. She’s meant to be a strong, hardened FBI agent, yet she often comes across as anxious and borderline cowardly, which is frustrating and inconsistent with her role.
I’m also growing tired of the painfully slow-burn relationship with Brock. Four books in, it’s time for them to either acknowledge their feelings or drop the storyline altogether. Dragging it out this long is frustrating as a reader—especially after seeing that Brock barely appears in book 5 due to being assigned to another case (at least that is what I assume from reading the book 5 description). It feels like it’ll be several more books before we get any real progress… ugh.
As for the mystery itself, I guessed the killer almost immediately, but the author did a good job of making me doubt that assumption before the final reveal. Overall, it was a pretty solid plot and an enjoyable read despite my complaints.
Olivia is a mess - as are the perpetrators - in this series!
The co-authors have certainly crafted disparate personalities for the (so far) trio of inhabitants of this little FBI microcosm.
The entire cast of miscreants - victims and unsub - are on the first hand entirely worthless, and on the other hand, totally sympathetic in a peculiar way, despite the body count. The “victims” are revealed as something unanticipated.
Love,Lies, and Suicide( Olivia Knight FBI Mystery Thriller Book 4)
OMG!!!!!!I!!! I loved it. Who would have thought that a person could use plants that were poisonous to kill. Not just to kill but get revenge on the people who hurt them. You almost want to feel sorry for the guy, until you realize that he would have killed your partner and another police officer just to get away. Crazy!!!!!!!
Once again, kept me on the edge without any idea of who's responsible. Story line was something that I could imagine happening, just how evil some people are. Olivia and Brock have their hands full, then toss the twists and turns. Just a a something to think about out of nowhere. Old flame coming to town and good old family problems at the Holidays and much more 🤫🤯 .
Olivia and Brock had their hands full trying to catch the killer in this very exciting and well thought out thriller. Poison has been done before but not in this unique way and the frustration Olivia and Brock dealt with was very real. I also very much like the personal touch to the story that makes the characters even more believable and I look forward to the next edition.
The story about the couple who were murdered was good. I know scam is a very common item in the present time but I guess I didn't think you would become a millionaire. I also learned that the was a lot more poison plants around. The killer and his reasons were an interesting end to the book.
This story was intriguing, complex, and mysterious. As the FBI duo try to figure out their latest case, it gets more complicated than they ever expected. It'll definitely keep you guessing until the very end. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
If it hadn’t been for taking God’s name in vain I would have given this book 10 stars but that’s something I can’t condone. It was a fast paced book with so many twists and turns that had my head spinning trying to figure out who the killer was. A lot of dark secrets, mystery, romance and jaw dropping suspense. The ending was explosive and unpredictable.
When suicide does not seem to fit the scene, Olivia and Brock are trying to figure out who might want these two dead. But as they uncover more of their sordid backgrounds, they are shocked to discover the secrets behind the screen.
A great read! I am loving the chemistry between these two, and what they bring to the cases they are solving. I cannot wait to read more!
What a book! It kept you guessing the whole time! The character development was good. And the mystery was well thought out and unique! I can't wait until the next book comes out. I highly recommend it!
I received a digital ARC for this book and this is my honest and unsolicited review.
The ups and downs, the side to side action in this book were extremely dizzying. At times even confusing, but of course all of that led to resolution. This wasn't my favorite of the series especially with the introduction of an ex.
I love the Olivia Knight series. I thought this time I knew exactly who the killer was, and I almost thought I was right until that little twist proved me wrong yet again. I hope Olivia Knight is around for a long, long time.
I read all four books of Elle Gray*s " Olivia Knight* series. I was so excited to read the fifth one, when I realized there isn't a fifth. YET! Please hurry, I can't wait too long to see what happens between O?Olivia and Brock!
Can't wait for the next book in this series. I love the story of Olivia and Brock. They bring the best out in one another and make a great team. As a helpless romantic, I'm hoping they become a couple. 😊
I didn't expect to have become so invested in Olivia and Brock, but I have. I like that the writer's are taking us through their inner journeys at the same time they are solving their cases. Can't wait for the next one!
At least an 8 star book and a 12 star rating for these authors and all of their series. They can not write quick enough for me. Great characters and fabulous story lines.
This series is well worth the time to read,it is suspenseful entertaining plenty of morbid mystery with a surprising take on partners. I wish there were more books in this series
I was glad that this book let me into the private thoughts of Olivia and Brock a lot. The excitement is intense. Who is killing all these folks? If you like crime that is hard to figure out, you'll love this. Elle has done it again.
This is a great thriller. This is the kind of book you won't want to put down. This book is very exciting. I can't wait for the next book to come out. I highly recommend this book.
The premise of this story is compelling, even entertaining. There are twists that you won't see coming, some suggested romantic possibility and plenty of turmoil. Well done!
Very interesting storyline and how someone can seek revenge. Learned some thing’s I did not know while enjoying a good story. I love the relationship between Olivia and Brock. Of course also the perfect cliffhanger!
Finally things might change for Olivia, but I won't give any spoilers here. I'm in love with this series. Elle Gray was a new author to me when I read her Blake Wilder series and I find myself entranced by her writing.
Another good read, a little slow in some area, but all in all very exciting with suspense running wild. Always a nail biter till the very end then the cliffhanger leads you to wanting more.
I enjoyed the mystery in this book. It’s hard to care about the murders of two characters you end up not liking at all, but the storyline kept me going and the ending was not one I would have guessed.
I've read 4 books in the series so far and 2 things: 1. I wish Brock and Olivia would just settle the romantic tension between them. 2. Sometimes Olivia vastly overthinks things/situations and it seems like page filler. I do love the series, so onto book 5 I go.
I’ve really gotten into the Olivia series and everything so far I’ve liked and can’t wait for next one, however, I really wish Tom hadn’t worked into the story! Just me but I’m team Brock!
