Have you ever thought about all the different types of writing you can do? You may write papers for school and e-mails to your friends. Some of you might enjoy writing stories and poems. Communicating through writing can take many forms. This book will show you twenty-six of them - one for each letter of the alphabet. In school you could write to answer Questions on a Quiz, prepare a Report on the Rainforest, or create a Sensational Speech for Social Studies. After school you might write a Long Letter to a pen pal in London, a Newsletter for the Nature club, or a Play to Put on for your Parents. You could even write a book like this one, making up your own list of 26 more ways to communicate with words!
I read this with my children. I really enjoyed this book because it showed us all the kinds of ways we write while I was able to refresh their mind along the way the order of the alphabet as I asked them which letter came next before turning the page. There are also small examples of writing on the pages. It inspired my children to write their own stories. The drawings are also very nice. Great book overall! 📚😀
Fun book to show students the many faces of writing. I'll be using this to help my kids make lists of things they have written, and also use to write some list poems -- alphabetizing how we write, what we did over summer vacation, etc.
I gave this a 4/5 not because I didn't like it or it was bad, but it just wasn't my the kind of book I would be drawn to grab and read. Although, this is definitely a great book to read to Elementary students when teaching them the many different ways people can write (writing genres). It's also organized in alphabetical order and has some sort of poem vibe to it.
This is a great story to introduce kids to different styles of writing. It's an entertaining story that can also encourage to students to write more about a variety of topics. I think it could be a great tool for teachers to have in their classroom.
While I like that this book used every letter of the alphabet to introduce students to various forms of writing, I felt that it was a bit childish, and would only be useful for very young students.
I liked in this book how it showed many different types of writing that you could do. I think it is a great idea for kids to have their finger tips. I wasn’t a huge fan of the book because it just wasn’t my style.
Good writing workshop resource. Pull out when a writer is stuck in a rut, writing in the about the same old thing, or when a writer dares to say, "I don't know what to write about!"
This book would be a great book to introduce writing to your class. It would help them learn what to write and how you can write. It has great ideas for kids at this stage of being a beginner writer. AR: 2.0 Lex: 350 Trait: conventions
The main question of this book is: has the reader has written anything good lately? Then the authors proceed to take the reader through 26 ways, in alphabetical order, to write interesting things.
Examples: A is for an autobiography - and the illustrations help explain it; K is for kudos (compliments) for the kids in their class - and the illustrations show a note for someone; W is for word wall in the classroom - and the illustrations show what that looks like and how fun it is.
This is a great book to encourage young readers and writers to look at their writing in a new way.
This is a fun alphabet book that shows twenty six methods of written communication, one for every letter of the alphabet. It's a creative way to show that writing can be fun and inspires children to write something themselves. Our girls love to write and this book gave them more ideas for different writing activities.
An alphabet book that highlights something you can write for each letter (for example - autobiography, brilliant book report, etc.).
I love that the cover of this book is also the cover of the book that the adult on the first page is reading to the kids. The pictures very clearly show an example of the writing suggestion.
I gave this book a 3 because it is fairly basic but can help students think of writing ideas during a writers workshop time. I like that students could potentially flip to any page and that could instantly give them a topic to write on.
This book shows many different forms of writing in a fun and kid-friendly way. This would be a good text to get kids excited about writing! I love that each page is a new letter of the alphabet.
