Pippa has long felt like the odd one out in her family. Taking a job driving a mobile bakery van around Shetland's villages gives her a sense of freedom and purpose, but also makes her realise how much she wants to belong.
Natalia has recently returned to Lerwick hoping to reconnect with an old flame. But she's engulfed by loss and rejection when she hears that he's moved on, and Natalia's world is turned upside down.
Autumn is dedicated to her job in hospitality and relishes her role as general manager of Lerwick Manor's new hotel. No guest request is too big or too small, but her own unrelentingly high standards could push Autumn to her limits.
Will the beauty of Shetland help these three women find the friendship, support and healing that they all need?
This was another brilliant escapism read In the Shetland series. This is book 3 in the series but This could also be read as a standalone if you haven’t read the previous books. I loved how this book explored a Lot of the other characters namely autumn Natalia and pippa and how being in the Shetland’s helped them to find themselves and also to overcome obstacles put in their way and how they found love and friendship and how it also covered a variety of relatable health conditions in a very sensitive and open way which a lot of readers will be able to identify with
This was a heartwarming read that shows a little bit more understanding Of others rather than jumping to conclusions or going on first Impressions makes a difference along with a hefty dose of community spirit goes a long way to making The world or in this case the Shetland isles a better place.
Looking forward To The next instalment of this series already.
What a wonderful return to Erin Green's Shetland, to Lerwick Manor and a whole host of familar characters, ready to welcome you back with open arms.
It was lovely to be in the presence of Ned and Jemima again and seeing just what new ventures they have launched since the last time we met.
Well it appears they now have a hotel, the Manor house has been turned into a hotel and Autumn is the general manager and one of three viewpoints we have for this book. She is a people pleaser but is likely to damage her health if she doesn't curb some of her natural tendencies. What I loved about her was dealing with the guests every last request including some rather bizarre ones.
Then we have Pippa who is Jemima's cousin, and he been put in charge of their mobile bread delivery van. Pippa is viewed a certain way by everyone in Lerwick and seems to be resigned to it, but also wanting to change people's perceptions of her.
And then we have Natalia, who has booked into the hotel hoping to surprise Ned and take back her place as his girlfriend. Only she has another thing coming, but as she is reeling from one piece of news, something happens that completely changes her life.
I wasn't keen on Natalia initially but I must say she grew on me as the story progressed. However she did have a very distinctive voice even if she did seem slightly delusional at times.
I also loved seeing Dottie again, who seems to know everything about everyone before they even know anything about themselves. She is a wonderful character and I wish all manor houses had their own Dottie.
This is thoroughly enjoyable and had me thinking about the characters even while I wasn't reading. I am absolutely loving this series a lot, and given I have the next book on my kindle already, I think I may have to read that next! I can't wait.
Thank you to Headline and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
First time reading an Erin Green book and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Starting with the dedication, I knew I liked this author already!
Dedication: “To those pesky imperfections we each have, which make us unique and fabulous!”
Written from three different view points, and filled with characters. Half way through things really picked up and the story took a turn I didn’t see coming. The three main characters, Pippa, Natalia and Autumn, are incredibly different. All of the characters are incredibly different, and yet I felt like Erin Green did a fantastic job of allowing you to get to know everyone in a fun way. I related very easily to Natalia and Autumn, and enjoyed their stories as it was very relevant to my life currently.
My favourite character was Jemima. You get to know her through the others’ view points. I loved the depth and kindness she exudes. She definitely doesn’t have it all together, but she genuinely shows up for the people around her.
For those of us that are parents, I could not stop laughing at Pippa’s joke about the return slip and 30-day return policy with the maternity ward. My kids are 8 and 6 now, but I remember those hard days in the infancy phase!
The conversation between Autumn and Natalia towards the end of the book really hit home for me. It was kind and powerful, honest and graceful.
Will definitely read more Erin Green, in the hopes that other characters of hers are just as relatable. And now I want to book a trip to Shetland as well!
Would recommend this book for a book club as there are many different themes to discuss.
I couldn't put this book down. I tried to so I could get some sleep but my mind wouldn't let me. I had to keep reading till I'd finished. Brilliant. Loved every character.
This is book #3 of the Shetland Isles series and is the story of three women at the Lerwick Manor Hotel on Shetland. Pippa has been given a new job driving the hotel’s new bakery van around the surrounding villages, Natalie has come back to stay at the hotel in the hope of reconnecting with an old love and Autumn is striving to be the best at her new job as hotel manager.
This is the first book I’ve read of this series, and if I’m to be truthful I really struggled with the storyline and the characters initially. The book seemed to follow straight on from the previous book, with no brief catch up to jog our memories, or in my case let me know who was who. The chapters alternated between the three different characters, and whilst I had no problems with the characters – they were all interesting in their own way! – I found it hard to work out what was going on because I hadn’t read the previous books. I did settle down into the storyline though, but it did take me a lot longer than I expected it would and that did detract a little from the enjoyment of it.
However, as I’ve said, I liked the characters and found them all interesting. I loved Pippa on her bread round! She went from not wanting to do it at all to proving everyone wrong and being the master of the mobile bakery by the end of her first round! Her storyline filled my imagination with images of the bread van travelling through these beautiful little villages with Pippa in her apron selling her wares! I struggled to like Natalie initially, but as the story moved on my opinion of her changed. She came across as a little self-centred, but there was a lot more to her storyline. Autumn was lovely, and whilst I’m all for striving for perfection, she did take it a little too far to the detriment of herself. All in all, this was a heart-warming, emotional and sometimes fun story which focussed on friendships, family and love. Whilst I struggled at the beginning, I’m glad I kept going with the book as, by the time I’d finished, I found that I’d really enjoyed it! The characters were likeable, it was well written, and the location sounded absolutely perfect! I do think you need to have read the previous two books in the series to fully appreciate the women’s stories, but I will definitely be going back to do just this.
Another wonderful visit to the Shetlands – I’m loving this series! The characters are so real to me now and I feel part of their community so I’m thrilled every time I get to spend time with them. In this instalment we get to follow three very different women and their various fates, plus catch up with old friends. We also meet Levi again, one of my absolute favourite characters from the previous books. I’d been waiting for his story and I wasn’t disappointed – he’s a gorgeous hero! The three women all deal with difficult issues that test them to their limits, but life has a way of working out in unexpected ways and I truly enjoyed finding out how everything would be resolved. Loved this and am very much looking forward to the next book in the series!
*I received a copy of this book on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this opportunity*
The third book in the Shetland series by Erin Green, SUNNY STAYS AT THE SHETLAND HOTEL follows three characters as they settle into a season of growth at the Shetland Hotel. While not necessary, I would recommend reading the first two books in this series to fully appreciate this latest installment-- as a new reader, it was obvious I was missing some of the references to past plots, but it wasn't necessary for understanding the novel as a whole.
The three women, Pippa, Natalia, and Autumn, do mix and mingle-- but most of their stories take place separately. Pippa, used to being painted as a quitter and the youngest in her family, struggles to prove herself competent and kind to her community while finding love along the way. Natalia is a hand/makeup model returning to try and revive an old flame, but after a medical emergency she has to reflect on what she truly wants out of life and who she can rely on for support. And Autumn, the new hotel manager with OCD tendencies, strives to find a more sustainable work/life balance in her new surroundings.
This book would be a great choice for someone looking for a sweet, simple read or past fans of Green's work.
Heartwarming, uplifting and utterly sweet, this book certainly lives up to its sunny name.
All the characters were brilliant and I loved the split perspectives throughout the book allowing us to catch up with each character as they navigate their own lives and dramas. From the much aligned Pippa who just wants to shed her old reputation and show the world who she really is, to autumn struggling to maintain a work-life balance before she reaches her edge, to Natalia who swans back to the hotel in hopes of winning back Neds heart and encounters events she couldn’t possible foresee…
All of the stories and plots for each were brilliant and so entertaining. I couldn’t believe how quickly they chapters flew by.
I’d never encountered anything by this author before and this was my first read of the books in this series, despite this being number three. I didn’t feel too much at a disadvantage at all and this could certainly be a standalone for those (like me) who hasn’t read the previous. I was quickly brought up to speed and it was effortless to read and get into. Really enjoyable!
Thank you to the author and publisher via NetGalley for this book in return for my honest thoughts and review.
Really enjoyed book 3 in the Shetland series by @erin_green_author 5⭐️ It was good to revisit some of the characters from the other two books!! Dottie still helps out at Lerwick Manors new hotel! Pippa tries to prove herself to others, Natalia returns expecting to continue an old relationship and Autumn finds herself dealing with the burnout for trying to keep up with her high expectations and not letting guests down!! Many issues covered in the book, great for opening up different discussions!! Would recommend this series and can't wait for book 4 later in the year!!
What a brilliant read, not that I expected anything less, I’ve loved this series so far. It was great to be back in the Shetlands again and catching up with everyone. I am so happy that Levi finally got his happy ending. This man has been a staple since book one and I really wanted someone to notice his big heart and love him. Pippa is a great choice for him, I loved how he stood by her and saw the real her, even when she struggled to see herself at times. The themes in this book were very real and identifiable to lots of people on many different levels. Learning to love yourself, sounds so simple but it can be the hardest thing to do. Seeing these characters grow and change gave me a warm glow and some hope; it’s ok to not be ok, but it’s important to recognise it, talk about it and then move forwards. Natalia and Autumn are wonderful examples of self awareness and self care. Simply brilliant from start to finish and I really hope we get to visit again.
This is the third book in the Shetland Isles series of books, I think that it is more enjoyable if you have read the first two books. I really enjoyed reading this book, the majority of characters are ones who have featured in the previous books, apart from Autumn who is a new character. This book features Pippa and Natalia, who we see a different side too and Autumn, as the Shetland Hotel gets up and running. I was a little disappointed in Ned in this book. His treatment of some of the characters (no spoilers) wasn't very good. This book has some strong themes about Anxiety and Strokes. I think that it dealt well with them, especially with the younger people. I enjoyed reading this book and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Thank you to Netgalley and The Publisher for my ARC.
I felt Shetland much more in this one. I would not say the characters were likeable from the start apart from Autumn she was likeable all the way through. Natalie and Pippa grew on me when life through them multiply obstacles. Pippa is much nicer than most believe she is. Natalie whatever she had done and not done did not deserve what Ned did. She got the biggest obstacle of them all realising life for her is much more than Ned Campbell.
I really did not like Ned at all in this one. His treatment of Natalie and how the staff seemed to fear him when he came into a room or area. If I was Natalie, Jeminna is welcome to him.
I received an ARC of, Sunny Stays at the Shetland Hotel, by Erin Green. I really liked the characters, Autumn, Pippa, and Natalia. Different personalities, put true friendships.
Having thoroughly enjoyed the previous two books in the From Shetland, With Love series, I was so pleased when I was accepted to read and review Sunny Stays at the Shetland Hotel! This book also works as a standalone as Erin gives a full insight and background into the previous characters and the setting of the previous books.
In this book, we hear the stories of three women at the Lerwick Manor Hotel in Shetland - Pippa, Natalia and Autumn.
I loved Pippa - although she was not keen at first, she embraced her new job driving the Bread van and going round the villages meeting the people at the heart of the community. I did smile and laugh when I read about the loaf being cut in half and how it was planned! Brilliant! Pippa got so much from working on the bread van, just as much as the villagers she helped on her delivery round. And Pippa and Levi make the perfect strong team - I was so pleased when they got together.
Natalia was a tough character to like at first. When Natalia arrived, I wanted her to leave as soon as she knew Ned and Jemima were married because I was worried the trouble she may cause to their relationship and business. As the book went on, I did warm to Natalia and she found an unlikely friendship with Dottie who only had her best interests at heart and Dottie did all she could to help her in her recovery.
I loved Autumn - my favourite character but I kept rooting for her to make sure she looked after herself more as she was suffering so much due to working far too hard. Pippa is a perfectionist but this was detrimental to her health. Her dedication and love for Lerwick Manor shined through and she worked so hard - I was in stitches with some of the requests she got asked for - and she fulfilled them too, however much work it was. Autumn is an asset to the Hotel and Ned and Jemima are lucky to have her.
It was great to be back in Shetland, meeting new and old characters and the Alpacas! Friendship and love are a key theme and everyone needs a friend to lean on for support and to share good and bad times with.
Thank you for another fabulous read! I am very much looking forward to another visit to Shetland with Book 4 in the series - A Shetland Christmas Carol!
Thank you very much for my advanced copy. This review is based on a NetGalley ARC provided in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion.
I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and Headline and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Pippa has long felt like the odd one out in her family. Taking a job driving a mobile bakery van around Shetland's villages gives her a sense of freedom and purpose, but also makes her realise how much she wants to belong.

This is the third book in the series but I feel that it could work well as a standalone. Erin writes these books in such a way, that I truly feel like I am being welcomed back by friends. Such a lovely escape, ideal for a heart-warming holiday read.
Sweet book but I found two of the characters extremely grating and had difficulty finishing. I'll give the Shetland books another chance since I've heard good things about this series but Natalia and Pippa were just too obnoxious.
I recieved an ARC from Net Galley for my honest review. Thank you to Net Galley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity.
I love the Setting of these books. Author makes the Estate, Allotment, and Cafe come to life. Now we've added Rolly the ambulance turned Bakery Delivery Van and seeing Manor House becoming upscale Hotel. All the descriptions of baked goods maked me hungry.
Enjoyable because I've read first two books and got to catchup with characters I loved. As a Standalone I found 3 Main Characters hard to like.
Natalia is self centered. She's back after months away and upset that her On Again/Off Again boyfriend has married in the months they’ve been off. Her 'How could he??? I'm beautiful!!! is just so pretentious.
Autumn just wore me out with her 'I'm a Perfectionist. No one does as good a job as me' attitude. Her constant people pleasing and ocd hand washing was so unhealthy.
And then there's Pippa who whinges on continually and uses her childhood hurts as an excuse for everything. I'm going have to agree with Levi: ‘We can all blame everything on our past, but there comes a day when you have to leave your childhood behind and focus on the here and now, regardless of the scars.’
Glad to see all 3 of them find some form of resolution/happiness. And I got to revisit the annual Allotment Festival! Way to go Dottie! She's who I'm going to be one day.
I love forward to being back at Lerwick Manor for Book 4. A Shetland Christmas Carol will definitely be on my 2022 Holiday Reading List.
Shetland is on my bucket list to visit so I jumped on the chance to read this and immerse myself in the place. Unfortunately, this book just didn’t work for me. The three women were not hugely rounded as characters and there was too much telling me what they were thinking and doing rather than showing me with dialogue. It meant that I skim read a lot. I knew there were other books by this author based on Shetland and I think Pippa’s story would have been much easier to read if I had read the earlier books. All three characters were mostly annoying, self centered and hard to like and care about. They just kept ruminating over the same thing throughout with no real moves forward. There were too many other characters that didn’t get enough page space so when they got mentioned further into the book I wasn’t sure who they were exactly. The few descriptions of Shetland were nicely presented but at the end of the book I didn’t really have any better knowledge or inner visuals on the place. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.
Sunny Stays at the Shetland Hotel is the third in the From Shetland, With Love series by Erin Green and it’s just the most fabulous summery read that I devoured in very short order. It’s a book that reminds me why I love women’s fiction so much and when you find a series that you are really deeply invested in and just can’t get enough about then you want to shout about it from the rooftops and that’s what I do whenever I can with this wonderful series. This new story can easily be read as a standalone but I would suggest you read the previous books to familiarise yourself with some of the characters and in doing so I can guarantee you will become as deeply engrossed in this setting, the brilliant plots and the varied cast of characters as much as I am. I felt this time around I really got the same excitement and feel good vibes as I had from book one as familiar characters made a reappearance as well as the focus turning to three new characters. Each of which were perfectly crafted with one you love to hate, one you completely identify with yourself and the other you reserve judgement on for quite some time considering her actions in book one as she has an awful lot to prove.
Lerwick Manor is unveiling its latest venture after the success of the Stables arts and crafts gallery and the artisan coffee shop. The Campell family home has been refurbished and is now a hotel run by Ned and Jemima. It was great to see both of these characters back with more of a role in this book as I adored their storyline in book one and it’s always great to see a continuation of characters you became enthralled by. Pippa, Jemima’s cousin, has swapped roles, giving up her job as a waitress in the café in order to run Ned’s latest great idea - The Artisan Bread Basket. She will drive a converted ambulance around Shetland’s rural communities selling breads and baked goods from the café. Pippa isn’t one bit happy about this and she remains that way for quite a bit of the story until slowly the wonder of Shetland and the people she meets really start to get under her skin. For quite some time it was niggling away at me how did the name Pippa ring such a bell with me but it’s only as little titbits were dropped in every now and again that it came to me and then my opinion of her changed based on what I recalled of her. But can a leopard change its spots? She truly has an awful lot to prove to Jemima and those that word at Lerwick Manor.
The first thing I felt she needed to do was get that big chip of judgement and resentment off her shoulder. She was so woe is me. I’m always second best and I have to grin and bear it. Well her prior actions left a lot to be desired so no wonder people didn’t always give her the benefit of the doubt or view her in the best light. She has a habit of letting people down but Ned was willing to give her a chance but would she take it with open arms or complain every step of the way? She is renowned for holding grudges and being seen as the proverbial black sheep of the family and really wants to change people’s opinions of her. ‘I need to be my own person and not the Pippa who simply puts up and shuts up, goes with the flow and accepts the casts off of live. Trouble is, I’ve done it for so long, I appear blasé about most things, but deep down it matters, it truly matters to me that others start seeing my worth’. But the more I got to know Pippa the more I felt some empathy towards her and I felt she just needed a chance to turn preconceived ideas about her around and try and get past her childhood issues and insecurities and let her guard down a bit. After all there could be someone perfect for her out there if she opened her eyes and looked a little harder?
Natalia is the character I loved to hate but again she does undergo quite a journey and transformation and comes back down to earth in a way she had never dreamt possible. She arrives to stay at the manor and is all secretive. She wants to keep her arrival under wraps until she can meet Ned again and pick up where they left off. You sense from the off that with her introduction that she was out to cause trouble and put the cat amongst the pigeons. I desperately didn’t want her to upset the utopia and harmony that Ned and Jemima had established. Natalia had her own agenda and she believed that the stay would mark the beginning of the rest of her life but little did she realise that this would happen but in the most unexpected of ways. The manner of which the author managed in a very apt way and it made me feel sympathy for Natalia but also admiration for the way she left aside her guilt, disgust and self-loathing and instead she became dignified and graceful and accepting of the new situation she found herself in.
Without doubt, my favourite character was Autumn. We can all identify with some little bit of her personality and she was just written so well that I felt every emotion she was battling with trying to be 100% perfect in her job and with regard to all aspects of her life. But she couldn’t possibly maintain the level of perfectionism that she strives for in her every waking hour as the new general manager of the hotel. Autumn has deep hidden issues. Well they are hidden to those that surround her but they become pretty evident to the reader fairly early on and it’s heart-breaking to see her going through such stress and anxiety and the length she goes to make sure everything is in tip top shape and impeccable. She put herself under so much unnecessary pressure but there was a reason for it and it wasn’t something to be scoffed at or by someone saying ah just get over it. This need for perfection is part of her identify but has the time come when she will have to address these issues and let the urges not overtake her anymore? I was rooting for Autumn that she would find an outcome that would work for her and that she would take time to concentrate on herself as she was always there for both Pippa and Natalia. Maybe they could return the favour and allow Pippa to alleviate some of the burdens she shoulders herself with?
From beginning to end, I adored every moment of the time I spent whisked away to the Shetland Islands and in this case specifically Lerwick Manor and its surrounding areas. Erin Green has created a vibrant community that you wish to return to on a regular basis. In fact, if she could just write a little bit more quickly about this special setting and the incredible characters that would make me very happy indeed. You can tell how much the author loves writing these books because her excitement and enthusiasm just radiates from the pages. So much love and attention has gone into creating an unique and warm community where every little detail is thought of which all combines to make such a feel good and engrossing read that you wish would never end. There are three strands to the story given there are three characters but you never feel as if they are disjointed instead all the individual threads weave together into one warm hug of a read that is impossible to put down once you start reading. Book number four, A Shetland Christmas Carol publishes in September and knowing how good these books are I certainly won’t be waiting until the Christmas season to read it.
Returning to Shetland in this delightful, fun, and uplifting story is something to savor!
Sunny Stays at the Shetland Hotel from Erin Green’s Shetland with Love series, is full of hometown charm, characters who make you fall in love with them, and a storyline full of the challenges of life, love and friendship. It is an endearing look at how friendship can change a person’s life and how unconditional love can set one on unexpected and meaningful paths. Erin writes with insight, and depth, her words bursting with uplifting and affirming messages about family, friendship and the power of forgiveness, purpose and belonging.
This is the third book in the series, the second one I can’t wait to read but it doesn’t get released in the US until October. I’ll have it just in time for the holiday season, as the title From Shetland, With Love at Christmas will be just what I need to settle into the spirit of Christmas.
In Sunny Stays at the Shetland Hotel, Erin takes us on the continued story of Lerwick Manor and the lovely people who run the new hotel. With a host of fun, quirky, loveable (well most of the time) characters, the story revolves around the running of the Manor and the men and women who can’t seem to keep themselves out of one adventure after the other: Pippa, Autumn, Dottie, Natalia, Ned, Levi, Mungo, and Jemima. Even Floss, the Shetland Collie, is part of the adventures.
I adore books that make you feel good. Erin’s books remind me of how important it is to have family and friends who see you for who you are, flaws and all, and who love you through it all.
Thank you, Erin, for another enjoyable escape away into the magic and peace of the Shetlands and into the lives of the special people in your story.
The plotline of this book sounded good, but the reality didn't work. For one thing, I never felt that I was in Shetland - I realise that you can't have too much bad weather in a book that has 'Sunny' in the title, but I found it impossible to believe in a Shetland that had pretty much wall-to-wall sunshine. Rain is only mentioned on one day and it never, ever seems to be windy or cold.
My other big issue with this book is that all the main characters are fairly one-dimensional and two of them are very unpleasant. Autumn is a brilliant hotel manager but struggles to keep her OCD under control. Natalia is obsessed with status and money while also being delusional, living in a self-centred fantasy world. Pippa is an entitled whiny girl in her late 20s who spends most of the book throwing childish temper tantrums while complaining that no one treats her like an adult. Natalia and Pippa both experience overnight transformations into nicer people, but I didn't feel that either transformation was convincing - it felt more like an author realising that these two characters were so unpleasant, they had to be changed into nicer versions of themselves quickly, before everyone stopped reading!
There were bizarre 'diary entries' written by another character which headed some chapters and which appeared to contribute nothing whatever to the story. However, it seems from reading reviews that this book is the third in a series, so possibly the diary entries make more sense if you've read the earlier books.
I struggled to finish this. Maybe it would've been better had I read the previous books in the series but I don't think by much.
I found the skipping between 3 characters who were quite similar meant I had to keep reminding myself who was who. Then there were random diary type paragraphs written by another character which I thought was leading somewhere but didn't.
I'm not sure how much research the author did on Shetland as a place either as the book mentions woodland walks when trees are pretty scarce there.
I love the Shetland series by Erin Green. This is just another one that I devoured - I loved reading more about the residents of the manor and its surrounds, along with meeting new residents and visitors.
Natalia's story was a brave one to include, and I hope it teaches people that being different is ok.
The family story with Jemima, Pippa and Callie is an interesting one, and one I am looking forward to explore further on in the series.
Thanks for the opportunity to read this book! I would recommend it to everyone!
Really enjoyed reading this book. It has everything you need for an entertaining summertime read, friendships, romance, and gorgeous location all wrapped up in the Shetland Islands. Centred around three women but also encompassing many more, we find out lots about Pippa, Natalia, and Autumn, their lives, secrets, and hopes for the future. Loved it, even though I hadn't read the previous books in the series.
I didn't realise that this was part of a series when I originally read this, however this didn't impact my read and it can easily be read as a stand alone.
I loved this book - it was very well written, kept me engaged right from the start and was well paced throughout. I loved the setting and the characters, they were brought to life fantastically.
Pretty easy reading, had to get used to different characters speaking but at least the chapter was headed with who it was. Didn’t feel much sense of it being set in Shetland, it could have been anywhere and apart from using local place names could easily have been the Home Counties! Too many characters and just nauseating goodie goodie or shallow. Wouldn’t necessarily recommend.
I am delighted to be back in Shetland and learning another story but with all the usual characters that I've got to know and love. Can't wait to read the Christmas book but will wait till nearer the time. Highly recommend this book and series
