Anna Elliott is an author of historical fiction and fantasy. She enjoys stories about strong women, and loves exploring the multitude of ways women can find their unique strengths. She was delighted to lend a hand with the Sherlock & Lucy series, and thrilled to continue a new spin-off series featuring Becky and Flynn. Her first series, the Twilight of Avalon trilogy, is a retelling of the Trystan & Isolde legend. She wrote her second series, The Pride & Prejudice Chronicles , chiefly to satisfy her own curiosity about what might have happened to Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Darcy, and all the other wonderful cast of characters after the official end of Jane Austen’s classic work.
Another will written British 🏰 WWI romantic family and friends relationships adventure thriller novel by Anna Elliott (The Becky and Flynn Mystery Series book 2). Becky and Flynn are still at the hospital where a injured pilot tells of pictures 📷 he took for an up coming military action. The pictures 📷 were taken by German spy who is recovering in the hospital. They put in place a plan to get information about the pictures 📷 from the spy. All goes as planned until the spy is shot and Flynn and Becky save him. They then uncover the spy at the hospital. I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of mystery adventure novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to Alexa read books 📚. 2023 👒😉😀💘
Anna Elliott is one of my favorite authors specially her Sherlock Holmes series. Happy reading on Valentine's Day 😇
November 1915. Western Front. A pilot taking aerial photographs has had them stolen while being attacked and injured. Becky and Flynn have been entrusted to find the plates. But is there a spy in their midst. An entertaining historical mystery with its likeable characters
HIDDEN HARM picks up where GUARDED GROUND leaves off. The first book in the series isn't really a cliffhanger, but there is some unfinished business for Becky and Flynn.
Mystery in time of war can be tricky. There is the need to find a solution while doing one's job on the front line. It is also an opportunity to point out the advances in medicine and technology forced by the battlefront. This episode of the series finds Becky in the company of Marie Curie and her daughter Irene on a mission to aid the war effort and locate missing items vital to that effort. Flynn is, of course, part of that mission.
I appreciate the fact that Anna Elliott provides historical notes at the end of these books to let her readers know what is history and what is not. Combining actual people and events with a good story is a great way to impart archival information that stays with the reader.
As I mentioned in my review of GUARDED GROUND, this series is an offshoot of the Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James Mysteries. If you want to know just how Becky and Flynn fit into the extended Holmes legend, I would highly recommend reading those stories by Anna Elliott and Charles Veley.
Good story about a pair of minor characters in another fictional book series - Sherlock Holmes, both Becky and Flynn were part of the "Baker Street Irregulars" and are now successful adults in their own right, brought together by the tumultuous events of World War I. They are the two lead characters in this series, although Sherlock Holmes makes brief appearances throughout the series, but he is ever in the background, working to unravel a German spy network. Becky and Flynn are bound together by circumstances and their previous relationship in the "Irregulars", complicated by both events and their semi-recognized attraction for each other. each book in the series CAN be read as a stand-alone, but reading the entire series gives one a better appreciation of the political, military, social, and personal landscapes that the characters have to navigate.
Books 1 & 2 of the Becky & Flynn mystery series are both delightful additions to WW I era historical fiction novels. Slight inclusion of their mentor, Sherlock Holmes, added to the intrigue of these mysteries and was particularly well done.
The novel introduces us to the harsh realities of trench warfare as well as the important emergence of working & professional women. While the World Wars cost us dearly in life and property, they also ushered in a more equitable relationship between the sexes. All in all, these were thoroughly enjoyable reads.
Very highly recommended for all who enjoy early 20th century mystery novels.
Becky and Flynn are called upon to find aerial photographs crucial to the Allies during Workd War I. Becky must combine her skill as a surgeon with her skill as an investigator while Flynn poses as an escaped prisoner to root out the spies.
Kitty also must work with Curie who designed and raised funds for mobile X-Ray machines on the front to save lives. Kitty and Curie race across France to get a needed machine to the wounded men.
Becky and Flynn are still struggling with the issue of turning their childhood friendship into a love affair. But as their mentor Sherlock Holmes taught them that duty comes first.
More please!!! 😁 I had no idea that x-ray machines were put into vans and driven around the villages and battlefields during the war!!!😃 The fact that Marie Curie invented this process is amazing, but to top it off, she drove the vans!!!😁(And she fixed flat tires and did maintenance!!!) Thank you for such an interesting took into the past!!!😉 I obviously enjoyed Becky and Flynn very much as well!!!😄
I liked the first book more, but this one was still good. Becky and Flynn continue their investigations, looking for spies. But this is war, so everything and everyone are not what they seem. This book is longer than Guarded Ground. There's a bit more intrigue, and enemy dodging though because while trying to root out a spy, there's also missing military Intel to recover...
I love the characters and have read all her books—hoping for more. Would love more when they were young as well. This mystery threads historical facts within the story. The suspense continues to build. Very gifted writer! I highly recommend this series along with her other books.
Becky and Flynn are at a hospital near the front where they previously had dealt with Nurse Russell, the traitor. Once again a situation as rises where Flynn attempts to get hold of material critical to b the war effort . Fighting the enemy and solving another mystery at the same time, this is an excellent read I recommend it.
I am really enjoying this series. The plotting is intricate and not predictable and Anna Elliot’s writing is a pleasure to read. Having Becky and Flynn, now aged to adults during WWI, was a wonderful development. I can’t wait to read the next one! Highly recommended!
Superb. Exciting. I can't say enough of how much I enjoyed this story. The suspense is awesome and the characters and their roles are incredibly enjoyable. Waiting impatiently for the next story and more of Sherlock and Lucy.
Becky and Flynn work to save lives and secure military intelligence in France. Marie Curie and her teenage daughter Irene add historical realism to this excellent novel. Cameo appearance by Sherlock Holmes. Enjoy!
Just as good as the first one. I'm moving right along to the third. My only quibble is that they are a bit short. It takes several to add up to a normal book? So not a bad binge choice
