The whole school thinks she's hooking up with the bad boy from juvie...
Addie's first day at her new school is a disaster. She's accused of being a narc, stealing a boyfriend, and starting a fight—all before lunch. Now the king of the bullies has her in his sights, and it's painfully clear that this sweetheart doesn't have a single friend at this school. Until the guidance counselor pairs her up with the other new kid—the tattooed bad boy who transferred from juvie.
Sure, Vincent says he's not her friend. But when a jerk gets too close, he's there to shove him away. And when she faints from hunger, it's Vincent who brings her breakfast the next day. When rumors start to fly that they're hooking up, Addie knows she should probably set the record straight. But, the thing is...those bullies are scared of Vincent. They're convinced that he really is the big, bad wolf he appears to be. So Addie finds ways to stay close to the loner...
Maybe too close. She's putting on a show at his locker one day, when it happens—she's caught. His eyes burn with heat as he stares at her hand on his chest, and her belly flutters when he leans down close. "What game are you playing, Little Red?"This is a standalone, sweet YA romance. Perfect for fans of Jenny Han and Kasie West!
This was a fun read. I've been going thru a restless period in my romance reading where it's been hard to find anything to read that I don't end up dropping it & moving on to something else.
The premise of this YA book was interesting enough to hook me into picking it up & was engaging enough to keep me eagerly reading to the end. I enjoyed how Addie softened Vince's oppositional defiance, & Vince helped Addie develop a spine. And I loved how in several places the author has you thinking the plot is going down a stereotypical path only to veer into an unexpected direction - so the story is well written as well as rather innovative. Very satisfying! Didn't realize it was part of a series; I'll definitely want to check out the others
Romance- I love this trope: the sweet girl + “bad” boy who has been dismissed as worthless by his family/society. It’s a great premise, and this book did an alright job of it. I didn’t enjoy the prolonged plot point of him pushing her away (not just sending disinterested vibes, but actively trying to get rid of her) and her doggedly and desperately sticking to him like an unwanted barnacle. He certainly tried to scrape her off. Where’s the chemistry in that dynamic?
The FMC was absolutely 100% the main pursuer of the relationship. When the final scene came when there could have been some delicious angst in their conversation when they were putting themselves out there (the MMC was about to beg her to take him back- my fave!!) the author sidestepped it and his begging wasn’t needed anymore, which made me sad.
Writing average.
Characters- The FMC was likable (albeit a little over-timid). The MMC was also likable, esp with the understanding that came from his POV (but he was overly stoic, imo).
Content- Language- one “damn” Substance abuse- the MMC mentions that he does marijuana occasionally to relax. That was because he was so unhappy, but the FMC helped him forgive and move on with his life in a productive manner, and he mentioned he didn’t seek out the dealer anymore. Spice- Some sweet kisses Cover- fine POV- Dual POV Cliffhanger- no Format- Audio via Everand Narrator- kinda affected for the FMC

One Little Lie de Maggie Dallen seríe The First Loves libro 3
Argumento:
Pero . . .
No tenía desperdicio! Pero él no se pudo resistir mucho tiempo y ella lo enamoró por completo.
No hay escenas fuertes en esta historia de amor, es un romance juvenil dulce y ligero con el tema de los opuestos se atraen.
3.5⭐️ Honestly it dragged on for a long while. Cause it felt like so much of the story was set up, like they didnt really start the fake dating plot until like 60% of the book? Though besides that I really enjoyed Addie and Vincent they were entertaining and their banter was so fun! I think we got too little of their romamce progression as it was mainly focused toward the end. I mean it seemed like after they officially started fake dating soon they loved each other and I was like woah a little fast? But I did really like the gradual strangers to friends to lovers and the whole ‘you get me like no one else ever has’ concept. Also I LOVED the grumpy x sunshine personalities, it was done so perfectl. Addie is so sweet and Vincent would growl at me if I look at him for too long, aren’t they just so perfect?
Addie’s the new girl in town and has found herself caught up in a touch of scandal. It’s completely out of character for her as she’s the nice girl who avoids conflict at any cost.
Vince is a walking conflict. Between being touted as his school’s reigning broody bad boy and trying to untangle his family’s past he has zero time to help Addie repair her reputation.
I live for stories like this with all the feels and some intrigue. It’s an emotional coming of age story for these two. The falling in love happened without them realizing it but it’s the growth they go through to keep it that makes this one a must read!
One Little Lie by Maggie Dallen. Starting a new school is hard, but Addie's first day of school is the worst! She's accused of being a narc, stealing a boyfriend, and starting a fight—and that's just before lunch. On top of that, she's snagged the attention of the school's most popular jerk and he won't take a hint. But worst of all? Rumors start flying that she's the property of Vincent, the terrifying bad boy. Would Vince treat Addie differently? Would Addie fall for the boy she used to protect herself? *** My Opinion: AWW! <3 This book has the cutest Badboy/Grump ever! And when he ordered Addie to 'eat'. I'm reminded of Edward Cullen from twilight ordering Bella to eat! Addie is so relatable! I'm that kind of person who smiles through everything! It's interesting to read a character who is a lot like me! Only... Where's my Vince?!? It was a cute read, I was expecting a long compilation like in some books, but it just made the book sweeter! ~ I love how caring Vince is towards Addie, how he is secretly always thinking of her despite his "I don't give a crap" front. And how from only one incident he still gave her food and make sure she was eating well. I understand Vince's feeling of unwanted. I think most of us felt that kind of pain. I'm so glad he has Addie to make him feel wanted! ~ I love how Addie wants to make everyone happy and refuse to say things that would make people upset. I understand that "need" to make everyone happy. Although I'm not as bad as Addie. I just love making people laugh and smile. I learned it too late that we can't please everyone at the same time, if we're making someone happy, there's always someone unhappy. That's why I'll just stick to pleasing God! Although, it goes beyond my conscience that my brain would always think about what to do to put a grin on someone's face. Reading Addie's struggle made me realize that it is tiring! Her struggle is real! I love how Vince told her that it was okay to tell the truth even though it might hurt other people! It's just so hard for me to say these little things that might offend someone, I always go with the fabricated truth XD. But being a book reviewer, you need to write an honest review! And the more I practice on focusing more on the truth (kindly ofc) rather than what people might react, the easier it is for me to not sugarcoat my words! Thankfully, all the authors I reviewed were so kind and there's no complaint of my reviews until now! ~ I love this book because: the bad boy was so sweet, the couple is so cute, sugar-sweet ending, relatable characters, it is beautifully written. *** Highly Recommend Book and Author <3 ^Sweet and Clean Highschool Romance, Bad Boy Trope, GrumpyxSunshine^
Addie hates conflict yet her first day is filled with moments of conflicts from the outfit and makeup her step mother gets her to wear to fit in to two guys facing where she is hiding to avoid entering her new school that's before the first bell rings. Addie and Vincent "Vince" are both new to Lindale High private school, Vincent due to his mother's passing and his dad, Rudy Baron (Leo's grandfather) finally taking responsibility after 17 years and Addie so her mum can pursue her dream of culinary school in Paris, is living with her dad and step family in Montana. Vince does not say much to avoid engaging in the crazy seems to be his motto. Vince has Addie and Leo's mother, Eloise (Vince's half sister) who care about him whereas other students are afraid of him and his relations, The Barons are putting on a good front yet very antagonising that Vince finds amusing especially at family dinners. Vince and Addie each have their own deadline for being at Lindale High, Vince - 3 months until he's eighteen whereas Addie it's 6 months until her mother returns home. Addie is intrigued and interested in the mystery that is Vince whereas Vince is attracted to Addie but believes bad things happen to the people around him. I liked that Savannah gives Leo, high school quarterback, Vince's nephew what for and challenges Vince to treat April well. This story hooked me in with two people struggling to fit into their new life and handling it differently, one avoiding conflict and the other causing or encouraging conflict to avoid close relationships due to past hurts yet their unexpected partnership gives each other an allie with a few other defenders, friends and relatives that provide fun and caring moments along the way.
## REVIEW IN ENGLISH ##
This book was entertaining and short, but I still didn't love it. Honestly, I expected the book to be a lot better. I like to read from time to time books that talk about a "bad boy - good girl" but she seemed pretty stupid at certain times. Also, this book seemed to me like they tried to cram too much plot into it for how short it was. Still, it's enjoyable if you're looking for something quick to read and fun.
Opposites attract? In this case, maybe not so much - at least at first. Addie is such a sweetheart, and Vince is... very much not. :) Let's just say, it took me a bit to warm up to him, especially in the early scenes from Addie's POV.
But I enjoyed their journey to get to know each other and help each other learn to better deal with their respective less than perfect lives. Addie and Vince complement each other wonderfully, and I loved to see how they bring out the best in each other.
While Addie's familiar group of friends can offer their help only remotely via video chats and texts, Addie and Vince get additional support from some of the locals you might already be familiar with if you've read books in Maggie Dallen's "Fall in Love Like a Princess" series (lookin' at you, Callie and Isla!). :)
I liked how unhappy the two transfer high school students were when they started to their new high school. Both had come to live with parents they did not know or appreciate and blamed for their feelings of being 'mistakes.' I liked how Maddie decided to follow the unapproachable hulk Vince around to keep up the rumor that he was her boyfriend. Again Dallen writes another story of how the two manage to help each other through their misery to a 'happy ever after.' She also deals with common situations in today's world and shows how being able to forgive and change attitudes early in life can lead to peace and joy.
Addie is a sweet, innocent teen girl going into her senior year of high school at a brand new school. Being a teen girl isn't hard enough now she has to start over and find a way to fit in and avoid bullies.
Vince is a tough exterior guy with a gooshy inside no one knows exists. He is forced to move in with his father when tragedy strikes his home. He feels no one wants or loves him.
Addie and Vince have more in common than either one thinks.... can they build a bond that's strong and full of love?
One little lie really shaped both of their futures, but was it for the better... you'll have to read to find out.
The cover made me feel like this was gonna be a little bit more happier than it is. So far both their lives are depressing but in different ways. He’s like an estranged foster kid. She is also a new kid, but she has zero backbone and wants to go for herself while he has too much is always hurting people.
It was a kind of fake dating plot mixed with him being grumpy. It is fun to see him be less angry and forgive family.
They do have an argument, which makes her realize things that she needed to realize. There is kind of a break up.
I will probably read the next one about Elijah/Noelle cause they intrigue me.
Content Couple mentions of marijuana Mention of overdose Fighting Stealing Death couple curse words Few kisses
This one is my fav!!! I love how sweet Addie is and how broken Vincent is! They're so perfect together and I love the journey they go on to figure it all out! This one has ALL the FEELS!! I laughed, cried, and fell in love!!!
"Hasn’t she figured it out yet? I’m not the hero of this story. I’m nobody’s hero."
Also, I love that Addie loves Nancy Drew! I grew up devouring those books so I love that Maggie adds those cute little touches to her characters!! This is a clean YA grumpy/sunshine bad boy/good girl type of story and it was fantastic!!!
Addie moves in with her father, step-mother and step-siblings when her mother pursues her dream of a new career by studying in Paris. Addie is sweet and wants everyone to like her. She’s a bit of a doormat, though, until she finally learns to stand up for herself and falls for a “big, tough, giant-hearted brute”. A very sweet YA novel. I recommend it.
As a general rule, I love Maggie Dallen’s YA romance. Maybe my bar is low, I’m not sure, but I’m invariably entertained. I genuinely liked this entire series. It hit all the right marks. But this one was the one that literally had my shoulders shaking with laughter. It’s a bit of a comedy of errors, but it still has its serious moments. If you like a bad boy hunk with an edge of broodiness, I recommend. (from Sugar Pie Reviews substack)
I hate ebooks but I paid for this one cause it looked too dang good not to read. I was right. I want it on my shelves immediately. Imagine Jess and Rory from Gilmore girls but they go to the same school, they’re both the new kid, Dean didn’t exist, and Jess is the one with the ridiculously rich/dysfunctional family. Good gravy I wish I could go back in time to before I read this so I could read it fresh again. 10/10 would read again and I don’t really do that so… you should read this.
cute sunshine/grumpy book, has language but is super endearing
I love when the protagonists understand each other on deep levels like this! Living with family they barely know, new at school, and hesitant to show the world who they really are. I love how fiercely protective he is and the instant connection they have. I love how they push each other to be their best selves and truly see what no one else sees. So cute.
Vince and Addie are such a great combo. I love how they find themselves dealing with the same things for very different reasons. The character development was good, the story believable, and even a bit original. Super sweet and clean. Definitely recommend. It was also fun to see the two worlds cross between the NY group and the MT group
One Little Lie is a great YA read! Addie, who's from New York and Vince, who's from California are both forced to move to Montana. Neither one wanted to be there, but they did not have a choice. One little lie "made" them a couple! Great read to see how this bad boy and sweet, innocent girl help each other through some rough times! Highly recommend!
There’s nothing like a good bad boy story. I love writing them and I LOVE reading them.
Addie is the perfect person to end up with Vince. Seeing them together was the best 🥰. And I love the way Maggie still kept all the characters from previous books in the series relevant.
It was such a sweet romance and filled me with all the love bubbles!!
This was such a cute fluffy read. It’s very stereotypical with lots of teenage angst but it served as a really good palate cleanser after the spicier stuff I’ve been reading. Addie is just so adorable and Vince is the right amount of dark and moody. It’s got the happy ending that everyone deserved. I’ll read more by this author.
This book was short and sweet. I love Maggie dallen books because of this. this book was just so cute and a good book to read to get you out of a slump. There isn’t too much drama and is mostly a light hearted book. Super good 4/5.
There was something missing from this book, it just didn’t feel fleshed out. Seems like it was missing at least 50 pages to really get you engrossed in the story and understanding who the characters were. That said, what is there is good.
It was so short. Or at least it felt that way for me. I felt we were just getting to know the characters and then it was over. I guess I liked them so much I wanted it to be longer.
“Marsha is saying the words I’ve always wanted to hear. You are wanted. Mistake or not, you are wanted. We want to get to know you, the real you. We will love you just as you are.”
