A wonderful book

This story delves into the relationship between a bear and a boy. The humanistic characteristics of the bear make this book very enjoyable.

This is the first of the author's several books I've read and I cannot recommend it enough. Outstanding writing by Amy Winfield. I can see how the vocabulary can be challenging--in a good way--for some kids, which is a great thing! Winfield poetically and sometimes silly-ly uses literary techniques, like just enough cliffhangers to keep the reader intrigued and begging for just one more chapter before bedtime (or class time). There's some gross humor (fart noises, bodily functions LOL) but also heart-wrenching situations that keeps the reader enthralled. 100% recommend, especially for 3rd/4th/5th graders--though I'm not a librarian: that's my best guess. Themes of bullying, friendship, love, family, and much more! Truly gifted author. Crafted a terrific story!
