We are driving on Street Runs Road now. This is the road--the place where it happened, the birthplace of my journey, the crossroads, the crux of time where the line between life and death merged. It is the place where I was forever changed. In July of 1983, JC Pezzini and his parents were involved in a deadly hit-and-run car accident. A mysterious Good Samaritan referred to as "She" was the only reason JC survived--and finding She has become his all-consuming passion in life. More than twenty years later, JC is a filmmaker, a voyeur, and a man haunted by his past. With the help of his psychiatrist, his friends, and old acquaintances of the unknown woman, JC will attempt to get closer to She than he could ever hope to--even in his most lucid daydreams. Whether through regression hypnotherapy, time travel by means of an anti-reality chamber, or sheer determination, JC won't stop until he recovers the answers he has been searching for all these years. After coming across a stunning She look-alike named Angela, JC is convinced he's almost completed his life quest. Only then are the real answers--and the shocking secrets that have hidden the truth--revealed.

So this story follows a man on the hunt for a girl who saved him 22 years ago and he meets a look a like, named Angela. When I first read the description, I was definitely curious and I wanted to read on. Parts of the plot was engrossing and I just wanted to find out what was happening and the background information. It was a nice read but not outstanding as I was disappointed. The plot proved weak at parts and the ending was poorly executed.

Some mysteries or areas were badly explained and slightly left to ambiguous conclusions especially parts of the ending to do with Angela. I didn't like the whole Anti-Reality Chamber due to the weird scenes that took place there and I didn't like the link between Angela and She, I just thought it was silly. Also, the dialogue at the end is cliche and made me cringe but I did like the turn of events.

I couldn't see where the story was going, so numerous events were unexpected especially the end, I did not see that at all.I thought it was going to go somewhere completely different but I'm glad it didn't. The writing was a pleasure to read as it wasn't too descriptive but described what was going on just perfectly.

Overall, I did enjoy this book minus a few aspects but I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quick thriller or mystery, I'm incredibly grateful for receiving this copy and I gave an honest review.

Every time I crack open a book, it's like a portal into a brand new, fresh world of creativity and motivation to create my own world. Sometimes, I'll have to put the book down to write for a few minutes before picking it up again... but that's only if the book is insanely good - such as "She" by James Caterino. Seriously, people, I cannot recommend this book enough. I almost didn't want it to end it was so good, and it inspired so much creative writing I did.

Though I have read a lot of books, this one really stood out. The plot line is unbeatable, unpredictable, and overall outstanding. The sentence structure is amazing - I wanted to write down every other sentence in this book because it was that good. And don't even get me started on the dialogue - talk about realistic! I could hear the conversations in my head so perfectly, I knew exactly who was speaking and how they were saying it... I could even picture the body language.

This book, this incredible book, has set a new standard for my writing. It's made me look ahead to how I want to be, look back at what I need improvement on, and if I need a motivation boost, I just read a paragraph or two and suddenly my story comes out just how I want it to sound. I look up to James Caterino with great awe and amazement. If you haven't read his books, I highly suggest putting them at the top of your "to read" list. Action packed, with characters that literally come to life and befriend you. I only wish I could thank the author profusely in person for writing, and tell him to never, ever, ever, ever stop.

From the opening scene as we enter into the voyeuristic mind of JC Pezzini, I was hooked by the story's artful, visual narrative and noir-ish tone. The author's richly-detailed descriptions and pulpy delivery style also make this a fun book to read. There is a great atmosphere in this story that can best be described as "erotic noir".

This book is a murder mystery, a time travel adventure, a romance and a supernatural science fiction tale all wrapped into one tightly wound page turning story. What makes it all work is "She" herself. What a great character and a super creation by the author. The more I read, the more I wanted find "She", just like the novel's protagonist JC Pezzini. The suspense and mystery continue to build as we are introduced to a company of fascinating and believable characters along the way.

The book also delivers in the end with a shocking finale that is emotionally rich and logistically satisfying. A unique and seamless blend of eroticism, mystery, suspense, and science fiction, this atmospheric book does a great job of establishing a sense of time and place. In turns riveting, sexy, scary, and above all imaginative, "She" is a contemporary science fiction thriller that will be enjoyed by anyone who likes imaginative entertainment.

The book opens with JC seeing this elusive image of "She". A person, memory and emotion that has haunted him for 22 years. Is it possible to find that person that so dramatically impacted his life at 13 years old when his parents are killed and he barely makes it out alive? He longs to reconnect with the perfect "She" that no one in his real life can ever surpass. When he finds two women that are very similar to that memory of "She" things really start to happen and get very interesting. The author did a great job of setting the stage and providing descriptions down to the smallest detail to place the reader in the same frame of mind the lead character, JC is in. A very well executed premise and plot deployment.

I really wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I was pulled into the story from the very beginning and my curiosity and imagination kept me engaged for the remainder of the ride!

I did receive this story from the author for an unbiased review and I'm so glad I took the time to read this very entertaining and thought provoking novel. Very well done!

When I started "She" I wasn't sure what to expect. The story is one of voyerourism, obsession and time travel (of a sorts). JC is trying to find the woman who saved his life, 20 years ago after a horrific accident. This search has become his life's work and while he see's parts of his "She" in other women, there is always something missing.

I found myself TOTALLY sucked into the world that Mr. Caterino created. JC was a character that intrigued me, even though a great deal of his attempts to find "She" were downright odd. Without giving the ending away, I loved how the story came full circle, what JC was willing to do and give up in order to try and find "She" as well as how, I feel, he found himself too.

For me, I found it fascinating to be inside the head of a man who was obsessing, it was a breath of fresh air when it comes to characterization and development of a story line.

With hints of the paranormal, romance, mystery and intrigue, this book took me pleasantly by surprise and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a well written, intriguing story.

Looking foward to Mr. Caterino's other works.

Wonderfully atmospheric, noir-drenched mystery involving a past life and an a romantic obsession. "She" is an incredible character. This kinky supernatural/sci-fi tale shares a similar plot to Caterino's published horror screenplay. ."Steel Phantom". I highly recommend both books for those craving suspenseful stories that will tale you to surprising places.
