This book has a great topic for a children’s book! Kindness is something that I believe needs to be shared with children. This book is a tool that will help caregivers and parents to help children learn about what kindness is and how to act kind!
Melissa is a kind girl but sometimes she forgets to act kind. She forgot to say thank you to her mother and watched cartoons instead of making her bed.
Her teddy bear is concerned and decides to give her dreams about kindness. He takes her to the Kingdom of Sweets in her dreams.
She meets a brownie, muffins, gingerbread and donuts who all help her on her journey to discover kindness in depth.
Gingerbread helps Melissa to learn how to share. Donut helps her to learn that a kind word can mean a lot. Muffin helps her to imagine how she would want others to treat herself. These are a few examples of kindness.
The story words are rhyming and easy to read. The Kingdom of Sweets is illustrated in bright colors and easy to follow along with the illustrations for a young child.
This is a wonderful book about kindness to help young children along their journey of being more aware of being kind.
I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.
I have read a few of Elizabeth Cole’s books including My way to keep anger away so I was pretty sure that this would be another great children’s book.
Melissa is usually a sweet and kind girl, but no one is perfect. When she forgets to say thank you and then forgets to do a chore as she promised her mom she would, her teddy bear decides to take her on a journey in her dreams to teach her about being kind to others.
The story is told in rhymes and the illustrations are cute and colorful. It encourages children to use their imaginations as well as teaching them ways to be kind.
Little Melissa sometimes forgets to be polite, to say thank you, to mind her mother. It takes her favorite Teddy bear and a trip to the Kingdom of Sweets to remind her of the significance of kindness to others. In our world that has become increasingly crass and impersonal, the necessity of kindness in our children cannot be overstated. Sharing, togetherness, compassion, and empathy are demonstrated in such a colorful way that young children will eat it up! Using simple prose and charming rhyme, plus scrumptious illustrations (by Tatyana Kim), the author has created an appealing book with important lessons. Kindness makes you feel better, and that’s the best lesson of all.
This is an excellent book that promotes social and emotional development in children. In the story, a girl name, Melissa learns the importance of kindness. During the night, she dreams of a place filled with sweet treats. Each snack she encounters shows her how kind deeds and words go a long way in building strong relationships with family and friends. The story is beautiful written with rhyming words and the illustrations are magnificent as well. I highly recommend this book, A MUST READ!!
I generally enjoyed reading this book. I was able to make the story more exciting for my 3 year old by reading all the dialogue because it rhymed. The pictures are nicely drawn and create the scene for each page, makes you feel like a part if the story. Lastly I wanted to say, the story's turn around for the little girl was written with such realism. That's pretty creative.
This is a sweet rhyming book about kindness. A little girl Melissa is general kind. But sometimes she forgets to say things like thank you. Her teddy bear decides to teach her a lesson and at night in her dreams takes her to the Kingdom of Sweets. Melissa learns the meaning of kindness.
My Way to Kindness is a beautifully illustrated installment in My Way Series that begins with Melissa, a sweet and lovely girl who struggles with showing kindness to her mother. She forgets to appreciate the treats she receives, neglects to say thank you, and doesn’t follow her mother’s instructions. Her best friend, a teddy bear, decides to teach her the value of kindness by taking her on a dream journey to the magical Kingdom of Sweets.
I loved the idea of the Kingdom of Sweets, which can inspire kids to imagine their favorite sweets and treats while creating their own magical version of the kingdom. As with the other books in this series, the author presents a variety of scenes, showcasing how kindness is a way of life in the kingdom and how it brings happiness to everyone who lives there.
The book delivers a beautiful message about the importance of kindness and emphasizes that no act of kindness goes unnoticed. I also really liked the idea of earning a freckle as a reward for each act of kindness. It’s a fun and creative concept, and parents can adapt it into their own reward systems to encourage kindness in their children.
The illustrations are vibrant and engaging, perfectly complementing the story and capturing children’s attention. This is a lovely book to teach kids about the joy and impact of being kind to others. Highly recommended!
