Merciless Survival

Rate this book
She wrecked his mission, but he stole her heart.

SEAL Team Blackout Operator Ronin Ramsey is confident that this will be a successful international op. Locate the enemy and get out—simple. Until all hell breaks loose and he discovers a group of women are being held hostage by the very terrorist his team’s after. And the surprises keep coming when a certain brave and stunningly beautiful hostage triggers big protective instincts he’s never felt before—not to mention the tension smoldering between them.

Farah Wolfe is just trying to make a difference in the world with her work in Nigeria. Now it seems the group that took her hostage isn’t finished terrorizing her. If not for Ramsey, she wouldn’t even be alive, though he doesn’t want to hear about her growing feelings. Keeping secrets from him is easy. Keeping her hands off all those steely hard muscles? Impossible.

For Ramsey, duty calls, and that means he can’t even hope for the things other men get in life. With time running out to stop the threats raining down on them, Ramsey and Farah have no choice but to break some rules of engagement…and more than a few when it comes to love.

Ramsey and Farah are fire together. The chemistry from the very beginning is intense. There is action and danger and some steamy steamy scenes.
Now I am interested in Mustang and how that is going to play out along with the rest of the danger the team faces.

Ronin and Farah have this intense connection right from the start because she is in a hostage situation and he rescues her. And then when she is targeted again he saves her again. They fall hard and fast for each other. He is kind of a pr^ck in the first book but he is a big old softy in this book. I can’t wait to see how this series progresses!!

(4.5) Page turner, providing suspense and steamy romance. Book 3 in Seal Team Blackout. Seal Team Blackout are all *dead men* to the the system, family, friends. Their history is not wiped out, they are just processed dead. Ramsey and the other members of his team are on in Nigeria tracking a terrorist when they are tasked to rescue some captives. There appears to be a link to the men they are tracking. Farah is part of a humanitarian group and is taken captive with the others in her group, women and men. The live stream in real time shows Farah trying to protect the others and raising her face to the terrorist. Ramsey sees those eyes and is struck. Farah has strength, determination and so much more. Ramsey is our alpha hero and so much more. Intense, steamy, some twists and all around great read. I enjoy this series, and man the bombshell that was dropped at the end had me going WTC, (ok really I said worse) and my mind went to all different scenarios. Thank you to the author Em Petrova and Booksprout for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

Em Petrova has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Farah and Ronin. Farah is working for the Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance in Nigeria. She is in her office when her friend Cassie comes in. They are talking and all of a sudden they hear screams and gunshots. Cassie starts to scream and Farah stops her and tells her that they need to get out. Before they can leave, they are caught and taken hostage. There are sixteen women working at the office and they are all loaded into a van and taken away. Ronin is part of an Elite underground Blackout op team for the Seals. His team is called in to rescue the women. When Ronin sees the live feed of the women, he is attracted to Farah since she is not backing down from the bad guy. When Ronin and his team get to where the women are being kept, they take out all the guards, then Ronin and a few of his team go and look for the women. When they are found, they are shocked to find a newborn baby. They get the women out and to a safe place. Most of the women decide to go back to the states. Farah and Cassie decide to stay and continue to work. Farah has seen one of the kidnapper's faces and now she has a target on her back. She is at home and taking a bath when a man comes in and tries to kill her. Ronin saves her just in time but the man got away. Ronin and his team take her to another town and they get a hotel room. Farah doesn't want to be alone so she asked Ronin to stay with her. They end up sleeping together and she tells him that it would only be that one night. Ronin knows he shouldn't be doing what he is going to do since he is always gone on missions but he can't stop himself from being with her. The next morning, Ronin has to walk away from Farah. He tells her that the CIA will be coming to move her to one of their safe houses and she would be in safe hands. Farah is at the new safe house and she is not feeling well. She thinks it is because one of the guards has given her the wrong water. Sparrow, the leader of the Seal team comes to see how she is doing and they end up talking he thinks with the way she is feeling, she might be pregnant. He takes her to the clinic. While Sparrow is gone the headquarters for the seal team gets attacked by the buy guys. After the fight is over, Ronin finds out that Sparrow has gone and seen Farah and taken her to the clinic. He goes to the clinic and this is where he is told by Farah that she is pregnant. She tells him that she wants the baby and she can raise it by herself. Things don't work out the way that Ronin wants them to. He tells her that things are not over and that he is sending her back home to the states. Sparrow wants to talk to him and while they are gone, Farah does some thinking. Farah calls her friend Cassis and has her come and get her from the clinic. Unknown to Farah, the guy Cassie has been seeing is one of the ones after her. When Ronin goes back to Farah, he is told by a nurse that she is gone. He and Sparrow want to know what happened and how she got out. They look at the emergency exit and think she went out that way. They check the security cameras and see her getting into a car and see Cassie in the car. Farah tells Cassie's date that she wants to go to the airport so that she can go home. Stephen tells her that they are not going to the airport. He takes her to his home where his wife is in labor. Farah is told to help his wife deliver his son. Farah knows that after the baby is born, she and Cassie will be killed. Ronin and his team find out who the man was driving the car with Cassie and Farah and knows where he lives. They go to get Farah and Cassie. Farah is in the middle of delivering the baby when she hears gunshots. She is too busy to worry about them right then. Ronin comes in and tells her and Cassie it is time to go. She tells him that she can't leave just yet. She tells him to get Cassie out and she would catch up to them after the baby was born. Ronin stays with her and after the baby is born they leave. Ronin has decided to stop fighting what he feels for Farah and starts to tell her how he feels but she is asleep in the car.
Will things work out between Farah and Ronin?

Ramsey and Farah’s story, Merciless Survival is book three of the Seal Team Blackout series. Wow each book just keeps getting more in depth and more intense, and keeps me sitting on the absolute edge of my seat, I cannot read fast enough in order to turn the pages fast enough to find out what’s next. Seriously this is an amazing story. Ramsey and his team are watching a live video of a group of followers of a terrorist that is bound and determined to rid what he believes is his country Nigeria of outsiders, this live video is the kidnapping and the killing of some hostages. When Ramsey sees Farah and see’s her not backing down from these terrorists even though its an extremely dangerous move on her part he can’t help but be impressed and a bit in awe. Such a strong woman, but he’s yet to find out exactly what she’s made of. Ramsey and his elite Black Ops team are task to the rescue mission. Black Ops are the team that handles the impossible jobs that no other team can or will do and they get the job done-Pronto! Ramsey from the moment his eyes landed on Farah’s in the video felt a connection, he takes it upon himself he is the one to get to her and save and then protect her at all costs. The team does an amazing job in and out everyone dead that should be dead and everyone out that should be out. Operation a Success. But, it isn’t over for Farah, will Ramsey be able to be there for her? Can he protect her and still be there for his team? Will they recognize that the completely crazy off the charts chemistry they have is real and for a reason? Will they both ignore it and walk away? This is one of the better books I have read. This is absolutely by far and away one of my all time favorite authors, I have never been disappointed with one of her books. I highly recommend this. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions

“Merciless Survival” is the third book in the ‘SEAL Team Blackout’ series. Each book in the series has somehow been even better than the last – and that’s no small accomplishment because each story has been a wild ride with terrific characters. You can read and enjoy this as a standalone, but if you start with this one you’re probably going to want to go back and experience the others as well.

Ronin was a memorable secondary character before, and now he gets his turn in the spotlight. He and his team are watching live watching live when terrorists in Nigeria traumatize and abduct aid workers in that country. A woman who won’t cower before the terrorist leader captures Ronin’s attention. He feels an inexplicable need to get to her, specifically, before it’s too late. That woman is Farah. She’s a smart and capable woman, who’s carved out a life for herself doing what she knows are meaningful things for the people of Nigeria. The initial terrorist attack and abduction is just the beginning of what will be and incredibly life changing series of events for both Farah and Ronin.

There are plenty of twists and turns in this story, intense action scenes, and scorching hot chemistry between the two lead characters that leads to heat you can practically feel rising off the page. It’s emotional connection, as well as physical. Be advised that while reading this book, you may laugh, cry, cross your fingers, and bite your nails. I’ll warn you, once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. The ending was great … except I didn’t want it to end, because Ronin and Farah were impressive separately and Incredible together!.

SEAL Team Blackout is turning out to be a really good series. I always end up reading the book in one sitting, and being wiped out the next morning, lol.

Fatah held up much better than I would have under the same circumstances. So I was really surprised when she made what I considered to be one stupid move. Farah didn't react emotionally when in a difficult situation. She was resilient, independent, and intelligent. Her friend Cassie just followed right along behind Farah. Cassie seemed nice, if not a bit dense, or maybe she was too trusting. She also seemed to react base more on emotion than logic.

Ramsey was a goner from the beginning, but I wondered how many times he was going to have to save Farah. Ramsey and Farah had great chemistry. I imagine after all of the high intensity traumatic encounters they dealt with, they were left with high intensity physical encounters. It did make me wonder what would happen when life calmed down.

I did wonder about the friendship with Cassie, but can't think of how to voice my questions without having to do a spoiler alert.

The book was a faced paced read full of action, danger, and suspense. It had some intense moments as well as a couple of sad ones. I liked the team members, their brotherhood, and sense of family. It was also nice to revisit Sparrow and Gia. I am looking forward to Mustang's story. I am going with 4.5 stars.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received via Booksprout.

"Merciless Survival" is Book 2 in author Em Petrova's SEAL Team Blackout series.

The team members of SEAL Team Blackout are considered to be "dead"- meaning that their existence is wiped out on paper in order for them to enter the most dangerous and covert operations on the planet unable to leave any form of a trail. Ronin Ramsey is one such member of the team. He and his fellow team members are sent to Nigeria on the trail of a terrorist. There he meets Farah Wolfe, an American humanitarian aide worker who was being held hostage along with some of her co-workers. Ramsey is immediately taken by Farah's steely nerve, strong will and beautiful appearance.  While saving her life, they develop a strong connection and undeniable chemistry. However, being a "dead man" does not lend itself to romance or dating a woman, so Ramsey does not pursue his true desires. After watching Ramsey leave, Farah chooses to remain in Nigeria to continue her humanitarian efforts. The danger is not over yet for Farah, and Ramsey and his team are once again called into action to hopefully save the day. Will they be able to save Farah? Will Ramsey be able to continue denying the feelings he has for her?

"Merciless Survival" is fast paced, with an intriguing storyline featuring action, danger and eliciting a  myriad of emotions in its readers. A strong cast of likable characters rounds our this book, leaving its readers eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

A definite must read!!!.

Merciless Survival is the third book in Em Petrova’s new Seal Team Blackout Series. This is an alpha military romance that is suspenseful, action packed, and filled with intense passion and fantastic characters.

From the moment SEAL Team Blackout Operator Ronin Ramsey saw her face, he knew his life and heart would never be the same. The trick was figuring out how a dead man could build a relationship with the women he has grown to love. For years Farah Wolfe has worked in Nigeria trying to make a difference but after a terrifying kidnapping and rescue she begins to question her life choices, and the intense and unexpected connection she feels for Ramsey only adds to her confusion. But as the attempts on Farah’s life continues, will Ramsey and his Blackout team figure out whose after Farah in time to save her? Read it and find out!

Wow! Another fantastic addition to this amazing military suspense series! All the books in the Seal Team Blackout series contain a happily ever after and can be read as a standalone. However, reading it in order will give you a better appreciation for the characters and the series itself. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Ramsey and Farah

This book was non-stop action. Farah and Ramsey have some serious chemistry. Between the action and the romance, I couldn’t put this book down.

Ramsey fell in love with Farah before he ever met her, and then spent months trying to keep her safe. SEAL Team Blackout is still on the hunt for Abubakar, but now they’re stuck searching for his followers in Nigeria. When Farah and her fellow aid workers are abducted, Ramsey and his team are sent in to save them. What he finds is a strong willed woman who keeps her head in the most stressful situations while helping those around her.

Ramsey is torn between his team and his love for Farah. Circumstances keep shoving them together and forcing him to realize he has to find a way to have both. Farah is forced to spend months in hiding, though she has always been an independent woman, she finds herself wishing for Ramsey’s company and has to untangle her own feelings for the secretive SEAL who keeps saving her life.

This was a fast paced book that had me devouring every word. Ramsey and Farah had some major hurdles to get over in order to get to their happily ever after. I hope we see more of them as the series progresses and Blackout searches for Abubakar.

The Blackout Team was in Nigeria this time awaiting orders for their next op, when some humanitarian workers were kidnapped. Blackout was called in to rescue the women kidnapped. Among them was Farah Wolf, a very strong, independent, take charge woman that even had to deliver the baby of one of the captives. Blackout Operatives safely rescued them all returning them to safety, but Farah had found extra comfort in the arms of Blackout Operative Ronin Ramsey. After, Blackout Ops left them the CIA was in charge of watching the women who chose to stay in Nigeria. Then Blackout got a report that an attempt was going to be made on Farah's life. Ronin barely made it to her in time to save her from being killed. They took her to a safe place for a while, where her and Ronin had a chance to get closer. Eventually, they had to say goodbye so she could go to a CIA safe house. Would they ever get the kidnapper? Would Farah and Ronin see each other again? A fast moving story with lots of action that will keep you turning pages to see what happens next.

This is the third book in the SEAL Team Blackout series. You can enjoy this as a Standalone but it is connected to the other books in the series. I absolutely love this series. These SEALs are alphas through and through but when they find the right woman their edges often and they'll do anything to protect her. Ramsey is part of SEAL Team Blackout, he's been reported as dead, to the rest of the world he doesn’t exist. He's been perfectly happy with focusing on renovating his warehouse home and keeping his relationships to one-night stands with women who don't even know his real name, that is until he saw Farah. Farah working in Nigeria when she ends up being kidnapped and help hostage. She's strong and independent which is one of they reasons Ramsey is drawn in but is there even a possibility of future between them? I love that Farah is strong and independent, she's the perfect match for someone live Ramsey. Can't wait for book four.

Ronin and Farah Surprised Me!!!
I am completely hooked on the SEAL Team: Blackout series of black ops contemporary romances by Em Petrova. She is one of my go-tos for romantic suspense with a military vibe, and “Merciless Survival,” Book 3 in the lineup, definitely doesn’t disappoint. I’ve been looking forward to Ronin Ramsey’s story since my first glimpse of him earlier in the series. He’s smart, sexy, and ruthlessly protective of the people he cares about - including a beautiful, defiant hostage of the terrorists his team has been hunting. Farah is a non-traditional beauty, a compassionate woman working for a humanitarian organization in Nigeria when her office building is attacked. The HEA for these two is hard-won and has to be navigated with guns blazing and bad guys on their heels at every turn. All the brotherhood, action, sweet and steamy moments, and plot twists that I expect in an Em Petrova story, and this one is a GEM!!! Looking forward to Book 4!

Steamy, fast-paced action, suspenseful and romantic, this novel has it all. When Ronin Ramsey saw the live footage of hostages under siege, he quakes in his boots for the woman who stands up to the terrorists, showing no fear. While he respects her stand, he knows that she is signing her death warrant if she antagonizes them. Sent in to rescue the hostages, he finds Farah Wolfe every bit as enticing and beautiful as his first impressions of her. Everything inside of Ronin begs to keep her safe, but when she keeps getting into trouble, he finds his hands full rescuing her, not once but three times. The attraction between the relief worker and the Navy SEAL just keeps getting stronger, until they reach the point they can no longer deny their feelings for one another. However, whether or not they survive the hail of bullets is another matter altogether. I received a copy of this exciting romance as a gift through BookSprout and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Never did Ronin Ramsey think that being on an op with his Blackout Team in Nigeria chasing a terrorist intent on wreaking havoc in Americs would lead to finding love. Farah Wolfe is a humanitarian worker in Nigeria when suddenly she's captured, forced to march 10 miles in the hot sun, thrown into a small room with ten plus other woman one of whom is about to give birth. Not exactly her best day. Yet she becomes the calm in the eye of the storm. She courageously stands up to her captor when in fact she may die because of it. Team Blackout comes to the rescue and Ronin is blown away by Farah's stalwart demeanor.he's captivated. Keeping her safe becomes almost a full time job and they become closer all the while. How can he be long term when he technically doesn't exist? An completely unexpected turn of events shakes him to his core but steels his resolve in keeping Farah in his life permanently.

Loved it

Ramsey is a walking dead man and is part of a special team that goes where others can't or won't. They are looking for a terrorist when they get a video of hostages taken from Nigeria. One woman stands out. She's brave and very attractive and Ramsey is in a rush to save her.

Farah is Nigeria doing humanitarian work when a bunch of masked men bust in and take everyone hostage. After being rescued Farah and Ramsey have a one night stand but neither can get the other out of their head. Once she goes back to her temporary apartment someone breaks in and tries to drown her but Ramsey saves her again. They send her to a CIA safe house and Ramsey decides it's best to cut ties before he breaks her heart. Farah is taken once again and it's up to Ramsey and his team to find her.

Action packed. Lots of sex. Sad. A woman who has some bad people after her and the man who keeps saving her. Hard to put down.

As part of SEAL Team Blackout, Ronin Ramsey is legally dead, as in nobody knows he still lives and is part of a covert SEAL team...which is in Nigeria, looking for a terrorist who escaped the team in the U.S....When humanitarian aid workers are targeted and taken hostage, with some executed in front of live-streaming cameras capturing the events, Ramsey is drawn to a woman who dares to glare back at the terrorist. Terrorist unmasks to say she's next, letting Farah see him so she can identify the man...Ramsey and team are tasked with finding and rescuing the women after they are separated and forced into van...but can the team get to them in time and will his attraction to the brave woman make him rethink his life choices...you will need to read this thriller to see what happens...I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

4.5***** stars. Ramsey sees Farah for the first time watching her kidnapping and threats from a terrorist that wants to kill her. He and his team of elite Black Ops Seals rescue her, several other women and a newborn. This group of men are so deep undercover that they have been declared dead as to carry on missions no one else can do. He has stayed to guard her and help her through this traumatic experience. They have an immediate connection and it is difficult for him to leave her. He shows up to save her again when a murder by drowning attempt happens. She is incredibly strong and holds her own while the terrorist tries to rid Nigeria of outsiders. Well written and fast action keeps you on the edge.

I have mixed emotions about this book. Being a fan of WEST Protection written by this author, I knew this story would be exciting. There’s a lot going on in Nigeria where aid is being distributed to those in need. Farah loved her work, enjoyed friendship of others and made a difference in the world. While sensual scenes often add spice to a book, I felt when hostages are released after horrific captivity was endured, the last thing one would expect would be sexual activity. Sorry, maybe I’m thinking food, water, medical attention, showers, clean clothing, etc. might be the first thoughts. I can’t even imagine how filthy the rescue crew must be after enduring terrific heat, dust, winds and long travel, to fall into bed. The storyline itself is excellent and kept me reading right up until The End.

Another outstanding addition to a great series. The writing is excellent. The story is captivating. The characters are well thought out and brought to life easily and perfectly. I love Ronin, another deserving hero who has to follow his own journey to understand that he isn't broken and he is enough. I love Farah. She is strong, independent, cool headed and falls apart in her own way. I enjoy the way she processes things and meets her truths head on. The suspense is breathtaking. The action is well timed. The team and their families is comforting and welcoming. The loss is heartbreaking. My emotions were all over the place in a good way. I want to smack Cassie for being so naive and clueless. I can't wait for Gunny's story. 5 Stars.

This was so good, I just loved it!
Farah was working for a humanitarian aid in Nigeria when she and her work mates were kidnapped. The Blackout team were called in to rescue them when Ronin meets Farah.
The elements of danger and drama added to the intensity of the story. I enjoyed the team dynamic and the chemistry of the guys playing off against each other.
I also loved the connection between Ronin and Farah and how protective he was of her, plus how involved he was from the start. It's how you would want your man to be. Well in an ideal world.
Em Petrova writes a fascinating book that had me spell bound from the start. So good, it really was!.

A masterful story, with heartache, pain, and so close to real life that you just want to hang onto your family and not let go. Farah is a volunteer, giving of herself in Aferica hoping to make a dent in the heart wrenching human strif but with the rebels in country everyone in her office is held hostage, but she learned to not let them see you sweat. When Ramsey first sees Farah, he sees courage, strength, and heart. His new mission is making sure she has life beyond captivity or death. I could never imagine the struggle that occurs when your life and those around you, I admire her strength and determination. I am loving this series.

In Merciless Survival, the 3rd member of Team Blackout meets the woman who will change his life forever - and has to save her more than once from a ruthless terrorist. What gave me goosebumps is the hostage scenario that could be straight out of the news and the way these guys are willing to fight to the death to rid the world of evil, one villain at a time. Thankfully, this book delivers shivers of a different kind, too! The chemistry between Ramsey and Farah explodes into sexy, life-affirming scenes and forms a bond that neither can deny, leading to a happy end for them. The hunt for the head of the terrorist organization, however, will continue. I for one can't wait!.

Farah is working in Nigeria to help people there when she is kidnapped with the whole office. Being the strong woman she is she helps others during this scary situation. Ramsey and his team are in Nigeria because of a terrorist and jumping in to rescue the women.

From the moment Ramsey sees Farah on a livestream he has feelings for her.

Since Farah was such a strong woman she is a target for the evil guys, bringing Ramsey in her path again. When they are together sparks fly and the heat is on. They can't keep their hands off each other.

But is there a future for them, because actually Ramsey doesn't exist anymore. But life has some surprises is store for them.

Great action read with passion in it again from this writer.

It's no surprise that alpha men are attracted to women who are strong. And Ronin Ramsey is no exception. When he sees the video of Farah Wolfe straightening her spine and holding her own against a terrorist, he can't help the admiration he feels toward her. However, he isn't prepared for the connection when he sees her in person during the rescue of a group of hostages. These two have a chemistry that they can't deny, even though there doesn't appear to be any hope for a long-term relationship.

After the rescue, Farah decides to stay in Nigeria. But then it becomes clear that the threat to her is not over. The team races to keep her safe while Ramsey tries to fight the attraction to Farah. There's plenty of action and suspense, and a couple twists toward the end.

I wondered if the Ramsey with his revolving warehouse door of women would ever settle for one. But he sees Farrah on video holding strong against the men who kidnapped her and her coworkers even while they are taking them out one at a time and she is threatened to be next and he feels an instant connection. He rescues her multiple times in this book. They fall into bed almost immediately afterwards and for someone who gets around so much you’d think the first thing on his mind would be condoms, but maybe he doesn’t bring any on his missions. She was stubborn and foolish at times. I wouldn’t have been so brave against captors, but she didn’t need to stick around and keep putting herself in danger.

Prepare to read it straight through as it hooks you right from the start.
Ronin and the rest of Team Blackout are sent in to rescue aid workers that were taken hostage. He is drawn to Farah after seeing her stand up to the terrorists in the video. The two bond, but the roller coaster ride is not over as she is captured again and again. Surprises situations stir up trouble and more urgency to get her back to safety. Loved the action, the characters, their backstories and determination. Plenty of drama, danger, steam, intense feelings, happy surprises and much more. Great ending and can not wait to read more of this group.

The SEAL Team Blackout books just get better and better! Ronin is intense and fits perfectly into the team of “dead” men. Sent into Nigeria and rescuing a group of hostages, including Farah, he falls hard for her, but can’t see space in his life for her, and she chooses to remain in her humanitarian work. But that would be way too simple an ending, and fate has other plans. Farah is a great character, and a perfect foil for Ronin – and the ending is nerve-wracking and will also have you cheering. Roll on more of Blackout!.

This was a very fast moving story and with lots of action and adventure. While the Blackout Team was in Nigeria, they were tasked with rescuing some humanitarian aid workers. Ronin is mesmerized by Farah from the moment they saw her on the live video stream trying to protect the others. Although the Blackout Team is able to rescue the group, they later find out an attempt will be made on Farah’s life and they barely make it in time to save her. But this allows her and Ronin more time together before she has to go to a CIA safe house. The Team continues to look for the kidnapper. So much action and such a great read!
