All On The Board 2: Your Daily Companion by All On The Board
287 Pages
For those not already aware, All On The Board are a couple of customer service assistants for the London Underground. Originally anonymously (Banksy Style!) writing on customer service boards all around the underground for a variety of reasons or occasions, these two gents finally unmasked themselves for the release of their first book, All On The Board: Inspirational Quotes from the TFL Underground Duo, in 2020.
Having read the first book I have been wanting to get around to reading this, their second, for some time since its release in November 2022, and that day has finally arrived.
The pair have chosen to split this second book into three sections, organised by time of day. They therefore have poems/boards to read in the morning, in the afternoon, and at night.
After the release of the first book, the authors have made it known that they have received a lot of grateful messages from readers who are suffering from either physical conditions, or more often, periods of mental health episodes and so they have focused on these areas for the second book, to try and provide a literary support for anyone suffering in one way or another.
Whilst this a very noble cause, and will most certainly help myself and plenty of other readers in times of difficulty, I must say that I enjoyed the first book, which was a collaboration of their best boards to date, more. This is simply due to the variety of subjects that were covered on those boards, such as concerts/events taking place within London, celebrity occasions such as birthdays, deaths etc, international recognition days such as international women’s day, as well as covering the topics of physical conditions and mental health issues.
I would still recommend reading this second book, as you never know what you may discover that connects with you.

After two London Underground customer service assistants, Ian Redpath and Jeremy Chopra, caught the attention of passengers by posting a poem on the customer information board at North Greenwich station seven years ago, they became famous.

Everyone seemed to love the duo, and stopped to take selfies next to them.

The duo continued to write and post. Their quotes, poems, and inspiring words have reached more London commuters than any advertisement could have achieved. They have even published two books compiling their reflections, mostly on mental well-being.

This book is one of the two. I like the words but not really the way the words are shown in the book. Many are small fonts and all too often they are handwritten, capitalised. The worst is the page of white-coloured words printed in a background of tawny colour with gradient design. I’m not sure if that’s the trick to ask us slow down the reading speed. Honestly, I haven’t got a clue.

That makes me worry if I’m getting presbyopia or too old.

What an extraordinary book, written by what must be extraordinary people. So uplifting, inspiring and helpful to people, to fight their battles in daily life. What amazing, caring, understanding people, Ian and Jeremy must be, to be able to write the way they do. I alternate between having tears in my eyes, laughing out aloud and wanting to shove it under peoples eyes: seeeee! THIS is what I mean!
I salute you both! Keep on writing and inspiring us, and thank you!
And for anyone, who has not bought this book yet: GO AND BUY IT NOW!
