Falling in love with Elijah Booth was never Milly’s plan, but the warm Texas summer, two adorable aunts and a horse called Smoky might just change her mind.
Milly Parker, a British singer, has packed her bags and is heading to her aunts’ house in Austin. Sally and Carrie run the best coffee shop in town, and Milly is about to become their newest barista.
She’s also about to meet some of Sally’s best customers. From nine to ninety-nine, they come in all ages, shapes and sizes. One in particular, Elijah Booth, catches her eye, but he is not like the boys she left behind.
Elijah, like almost every other single person in town, has made a vow of celibacy—not even a kiss before marriage.
Can Milly adjust to her new life in a new country and the new rules that come with it—or will she start to wonder if her new normal is even normal at all?
Reader advisory: This book contains mention of domestic abuse, using alcohol for avoidance, and a surprise pregnancy.
Milly, an English singer, leaves home, a boyfriend dumped after a marriage proposal, to go to her aunts' house in Austin to help them in their coffee shop. When she meets the Booths, the most powerful family in town, let's just say she doesn't make a good first impression, except for Elijah. He falls in love with her from the first moment. The townspeople live under a series of strict rules: no drinking, no sex before marriage... Milly respects their decisions but doesn't share them, but that initially isn't a problem because she doesn't expect to stay long either. But Eli's charm makes her doubt everything, even her reluctance to settle down and start a family. Easy to read and fun at times.
I received an ARC of this book and here is my review
Milly moves from England to a small town in US to help her Aunties with their café, since one of them is sick. She soon discovers that the town has a retrograde view about courting and marriage and that it is controlled by a powerful family. Then she met Eli who is part of that family and things get complicated.
This book is well-written. The plot is interesting, and the characters well described. I liked the fact that for ones the woman has—sexually—more experience than the man. A cute, sweet story to pass the time.

I was gifted an ARC of “(Not)Normal” (Mixed Emotions #2) by Katy Hunter in exchange for my honest review; and here it is. This is the second book of the Mixed Emotions series, but your able to read them as standalone. I give this story four and a half stars. It is a sweet, nice storyline that I haven’t come across on my reading. Love reading how both MC, Elijah, and Milly journey to finding each other. This book has some sad moment, as well as some risqué moments, mix in some action taken from Milly in a town that just don’t allow women to be nothing else, but a housewife and you have a good read. Can’t wait to see what Mixed Emotions series comes with next. If you enjoy reading about sweet love than this book is for you.
It was a very entertaining story with a twist on the virgin trope that I loved! It's very fast paced (read it in two sittings!) and I couldn't put it down. Some of the side themes of the book are a little heavy, but they work well with the story and the community within the book. It's well balanced and very cute! Such an easy read. I recommend!
