An explosive ceremony rocks Winter’s caves and those responsible must flee to the Drake village and start a new life.
When Harlow is imprisoned by the Queen’s guards, Slater is forced to flee for his life and team up with Jax—the one man he detests more than any other. Together with courageous Zadonians from all four races, they devise a daring rescue mission to save Harlow from impending death. Nothing is what it seems, however, and Harlow finds herself being drawn into political intrigue that will change the landscape of Summer and Winter forever.
Torn between Slater’s wants and needs, and her own—will Harlow stay to keep Slater happy or follow her heart and return with Jax?
Nikki Minty is a writer and avid reader. She loves fantasy, sci-fi, thrillers, mystery, and romance - especially those with added supernatural elements or magical realism.
Another spectacular cover, and I love that we get to see Sphinx as well as Jax. This book was action packed and full of eye opening moments. Having now completed the series, I can appreciate the authors overall message throughout the 3 books. I believe it’s a positive message. We got to see a lot more of Summer in this book, as well as getting to know more about the different characters, and what makes them tick. There was a lot of character growth from the beginning to end, and I enjoyed seeing everyone through the different points of view. The series rounded off nicely and left me feeling satisfied.
I received this book for free and I’m leaving an honest review.
What an adventure! This final installment was sensational. It kept me guessing the whole time. I think the characters are sensational and really drive the story forward. I highly recommend this series.
Just like book 1 & 2, Powerful Purples cover is Amazing. This cover is extra special for me, because Jax is on it. He has become my favourite character of the whole series.
This book sent me through every emotion, from laughing out loud, to biting my nails and sobbing. There's an incredible amount of character growth in this instalment. I love how all the characters are unique and somewhat incompatible, yet they all come together to help do what's right.
The Summer scenes were action packed and had my heart racing. I enjoyed the descriptions of Summer and some of the unforeseen events that occurred.
The overaching storyline of the entire series really comes together by the end of this book, and it was all I could have wished for and more.
I received an arc copy of Powerful Purples through NetGalley, uploaded by Book Go Social.
Powerful Purples was fast paced with much more action and character development than the previous two, making it my absolute favorite of the three. This trilogy took us places I wasn’t expecting and made me root for characters I’d previously taken issue with. I rather enjoyed the friendship dynamics of this book and seeing more of Summer. I was hoping to see Autumn, which we didn’t. I’m hoping the author has more books planned in this world in the future.
I received a free arc copy of Powerful Purples for an honest review.
This was definitely the best book of the series. It keep awake until all hours reading when I should have been sleeping. I absolutely love Jax and I was very excited to read from his POV. This book has 5 POV’s, and even though that sounds like a lot, it works well. All of the characters are so different and see situations differently, which adds a new set of dynamics. I was surprised to find that some of the other less appealing characters grew on me by the end. I even found myself coming to like some of them. I highly recommend this series.
I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. Book 3 dove deeper into the land of Summer and we got to learn more about the Vallons and some hidden secrets. More characters were drawn into the story and the plot thickened, changing everything. I wasn’t a fan of Slater, but after reading this book I’ve grown to like him. This being said, I love Jax, and I was so excited to read through him. I want a Jax for myself. He’s become one of my favorite fiction boyfriends. Overall this was a nice wrap up of the series and I look forward to seeing what Nikki has planned for the future.
I absolutely loved where Powerful Purples took us. So much happened and it was action packed. Zannah is my new favorite character, I love her sass and strength. I think there is a good moral behind this series, and something to be learnt. My only small complaint is that we didn’t get to see more of the Rukes. I’m hoping the author hasn’t finished with this world because I’m desperate for more. Thank you Nikki Minty for sharing your wonderful series with the world.
Book 3 was a perfect finish to this wonderful sci-fi fantasy series. I like the direction the story went, and I feel there was a lot of character growth. I loved the Summer scenes, they were high impact and the Spring scenes were wholesome and filled with emotion. Slater/Alex really turned around in this book for me. I think this is a solid and enjoyable sci-fi/fantasy series for young adults. I highly recommend it.
This was a riveting end to the Zadok series. I loved the character development, the balance of relationships, how they all change, and where the characters end up. It was fast paced with lots of action and a few surprises along the way. I’d like to see a book 4 so we can see the future of the twins, and further mixing of races.

I absolutely loved this conclusion. What a way to wrap up a series. The many different settings and points of view kept it exciting. Best book in the series by far.
I was given a free copy of Powerful Purples. The cover artist has done a fantastic job of capturing Jax and Sphinx. This cover is sensational, and in my opinion, the best of the three.
Powerful Purples was an intense final instalment to the series. So much happened chapter by chapter, my head's still spinning from all the twists and turns.
I like that we got a closer look at Summer and some of the newer characters motives. Not everything is as it seems, indeed.
We got Jax's POV in this book, which was good. I enjoy knowing what all the different characters are thinking and what's driving their decisions.
Having read Pastel Pink two weeks ago and Ruby Red last week - I was able to fly through this series and with good reason. It's a near-perfect YA series - that just kept on giving. Each story built on the last but also felt like it was its own story as well. Powerful Purples would have been confusing had I not read the other two but not completely. Minty's writing style and ability to build insane worlds with complex characters make these stories come alive.
Powerful Purples was such a fitting end to this series and one that I'm glad that I had the honor of reading. As I said, Minty's ability to write these complex loveable characters in this insanely well thought out world makes these books stand out to me. Usually, you get one or the other with YA books - but this had both.
I think the bigger and more important thing that each one of these stories had - but this one had in spades was the story behind the story, or what I as a reader took away from them. It was such a great story about the power of inclusion and the power of looking beyond color, race, or creed. It's obvious if you're an adult reading these stories that there is subtext and messages hidden in the story - but I wonder as a younger adult a few things. One of them is would this even stands out to me. My generation (millennials) have been fighting for this but were raised by racists who were raised by racists and bigots. We're learning how to do a lot of this, which is why these stories and the inner messages in them stood so far out to me. But I hope that a younger generation reads this as "yeah, that makes sense" versus "I hope that's true".
Minty did all of this with beautifully written stories that without the inner meanings still were some of my favorite fantasy/YA books I've read in a long time. I hope that people looking for new stories can pick this up. Especially those who want beautifully written YA. I also hope that those that can grab the audiobooks, do. These books are SO well done. The different characters by different narrators are so hard to come by and it just feels so natural here. The production value is definitely there.
Powerful Purples is the third and last novel in The Zadok Series of fantasy books by rising and truly talented author Nikki Minty. This is a beautiful saga written with love, care, and attention to details, perfectly suited for young adults.
Nikki successfully combines fantasy elements with magical realism and thus creates a unique adventure filled with endearing characters that you can’t help but care for. But the most important message of this captivating trilogy is that we all need to fight so that there is inclusion and equality in our society.
The two previous books, Pastel Pink and Ruby Red introduced us to this fascinating world and its inhabitants. Powerful Purples will continue to escalate all previous events and will deliver a roller coaster of an adventure that will keep the reader or in our case, the listener, on the edge of their seat.
I really can’t tell you anything more about the story except that all our heroes need to be on their toes and at their best in order to survive and overtake this new challenge. If you want to understand what’s happening and not miss anything, I highly recommend that you start from the beginning, with Pastel Pink. But rest assured, the conclusion to the Trilogy is more than satisfying!
The audiobook version of Powerful Purples is performed by award-winning narrators Khristine Hvam, James Patrick Cronin, and James Fouhey. Each one of them is fantastic in their own way but combined they are delivering a superb narrative experience that will thrill, delight, and entertain the listener. The audio production is crisp and clear, the narration is superb and the characters spring to life in our imagination thanks to the vivid writing style.
So, if you’re on the lookout for a good young adult fantasy adventure I got you covered with not one, but with three excellent audiobooks. The Zadok Series is great and I highly recommend that you give it a try. This is top-notch entertainment beautifully written and expertly performed!
I'm experiencing so many emotions right now. It's like I was in Zadok, living with all the characters and having a good time, but then all of a sudden, I was dragged back to Earth and reality. While I'm sad that the series is over, I'm also glad that I got the opportunity to be a part of that world.
The characters have matured so much over the course of the story. They went from being prejudiced and close-minded to understanding that our race doesn't define who we are. The issue is so similar to the real world, and I commend the author on tackling this issue so beautifully in the book.
I got to see a lot more magic, strategizing, and fight sequences in this book, and it kept things exciting. I was so pumped from start to finish. There were many obstacles the characters were facing, and when I started reading, I was wondering how it would all be sorted in approximately 350 pages. But the author flawlessly took care of each problem without making the story seem rushed.
It also had more romance than the prequels, and I'm glad that everyone got their happy ending. I was worried about a certain character becoming toxic, but their storyline was explored well.
It was also a thought-provoking read for me. There were times when I wanted to punch certain people, but I had to stop and see things from their perspective as well.
The book was full of twists, tension, friendly banter, and lessons. I recommend it to readers who enjoy books with a blend of science-fiction and fantasy with the found-family trope, strong characters, and loads of action.
What an absolute perfect ending to an amazing series!! 😍
I have enjoyed every second of every book, there hasn’t been one dull moment. You are constantly wanting to know what is going to happen next and what is going to happen to certain characters After everything that happened in book 2 I was dying to see where things went in book 3 and I was definitely not disappointed!
Nikki has done an incredible job at the world building, the plot and creating all the characters. It was so nice seeing how some of the relationships went in this book, especially one in particular I was surprised I was rooting for! 😂
The suspense in this book was extreme and honestly there were a few twists I did not see coming! And I definitely couldn’t have asked for a better ending 🥰
So proud of Nikki for the amazing series she has created! Everyone definitely needs to read these books 💜
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
i was so excited for this book after pastel pink & Ruby Red It's a briljant read after book one & two I loved this book. great characters, great world building, easy read.
AGHHHH this is such a gorgeous book series! I mean just look at this beautiful book, the last in the series, gorgeous, beautiful, stunning. And soon to be made into audiobooks! Nikki Minty, the author, is so kind and nice. She has answered all my questions about the series and about being a writer. The cover is absolutely stunning and a gorgeous addition to my bookcase, created by Indicreates (but let’s pretend its RJ). Where do I even begin with this book and the fantastical Zadok world. - I love how Harlow throughout the whole of this last book has remained firm in her romantic feelings towards Jax. Loving Slater only as the father of her children. The confusion is in, ‘what is best for her kids.’ Which definitely brings an exciting and unexpected turn to the love triangle. - I was so happy in the last book that we got Zannah’s perspective, and in this one, we’re spoilt with it. I love her stubborn strong-headed view, that contrasts the other characters more indecisive, calmer, and generally nicer personalities. We also get to understand the perspectives of those around Harlow and their ‘difference of opinion’ on her, as opposed to Slater and Jax. - Plus, I just love how badass Zannah is! “He’s spilling more blood than words.” - It’s also so funny, there are some moments throughout this novel that have really made me laugh. - We get more hidden backstory on characters, especially Zannah, *cough* *cough* Oscar… - The art throughout and formatting is always gorgeous. - I also just love how all the characters interact, all of them have flaws. They’re not perfectly designed to fit together and balance each other. In fact, some don’t like each other. But they all try to get along, and we get to watch this gradual progression of their group/family. It makes the team feel really authentic and real. - I LOVE THE SWIRLING IRISES! - Jaxs just gets more attractive. - All the books come together in this one, and I appreciate the validation of their choices. For example, that Harlow had to leave. This book is so heavily character-driven and I live for it, we really get to see how their choices have affected their lives and the lives of those around them. - It’s an amazing series, please just give it a read. You can buy yourself a copy on Amazon, Book Depository, Booktopia, Barnes&Noble, and at so many other retailers. Don’t forget to check out the authors Instagram @nikstamint and other social media handles such as her website mikkiminty.com Thank you so much for listening to me rave about this book. I hope you like it as much as me!
I absolutely adored this series!! What a phenomenal conclusion to the Zadok Series. Although I'm kinda gutted that it's over 😂💜 Nikki Minty is a world-building master and I loved getting lost in this universe she's created. Of the books I've read so far this year, the Zadok trilogy has been three of my favourite books. I'm stoked to learn that audiobooks are in the making! I'm going to be checking for audiobook updates like a creeper😂💜 Bring on the audiobooks! 🤩 🥳
Thank you again Nikki for a wonderful book and a fabulous world to emerge myself in. I loved every word!! 💜💜💜
I still love these books even after reading for the 3rd or 4th time. Though I always hate the ending and I can see that there can be room for a possible 4th book to introduce the Ruke species besides just Acacia, it will still be a number 1 read in my opinion. It has everything I’ve never read before that isn’t cliche with magic elves or vampires and people needing to go off into war cause their whole kingdom is in danger.
This book series focuses solidly on the confrontation of the Zeek colour systems, but ultimately changes and encouragement the colour systems of each other species to be taken down. Is very political, but still embraces romantic sides and dilemmas of the main female character Harlow who can’t seem to choose between to smoking hot guys! Though this book isn’t a spicy series, but put that aside and enjoy a slow burn that takes you on an adventures of different kingdoms of sorts of winter summer and spring and the wonderful landscapes and lifestyle. The final book is very rushed towards the end to give the readers a happy and inclusive ending, I still feel there’s a lot to be missed for Slater and the overall outcome of the colour system and interracial relationships, but also Acacia backstory?? The first two books hold a lot of mysteries to be solved, and had always left me thinking what could possibly happen next?? Well the final book was mostly just a sum up of the first two. The last book still holds a lot of drama and mystery to be solved when using the different POV’s of Zannah, Slater, Harlow, Jax and Zavier, I just found there was too many POV’s at one time when the first book was solely on Harlows most of the time. At least we get to see the opinions and couches development of beloved five characters.
I will always still quite enjoy these books, as I find that it is like nothing I have read before. I have never read or seen a book that is quite like the Zadok Series and it’s really refreshing to read new ideas and stories that are not cliche of the fantasy or romance genres.
5 stars all round ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Don’t judge till you try and I love that this book is all self made and the covers are designed by the author’s choice and self published. Nikki Minty 🔥 I will forever be a Zadonian
“Powerful Purples” picks up right where Ruby Red left off. This is the third installment in the Zadok Series and will be reviewed as a stand alone book. If you don’t want spoilers for the series or previous books, don’t read ahead!
Overall, I really enjoyed this story. It is not a stand alone and should be read after the previous two novels. However, it wrapped everything up from the first two stories nicely and included storylines from all of the main characters. All of your favorites are still around plus development of some of the lesser known characters. Zannah’s voice and point of view were a welcome addition—- relatable, honest, and hilarious. I felt that the author stayed true to the main protagonist as well and kept Harlow’s reactions and responses consistent with her behaviors from the other novels. The full blog review can be found at heatherlbarksdale.com
I ended up checking out this book on mixed platforms (Audible and ebook). I absolutely recommend this on audiobook. Like the other stories, each of the voice actors are clear and easy to listen to.
I received a copy of this story in exchange of a fair and honest review.
Overall: I can’t believe I’m already at book three! I’ve loved every minute of this series, but this installment really stepped it up.
Story: This book was full of tension, and it was so hard to pause once I got into it. We get to know the characters even more, and see more of the summer side of things. I was dying to see what choice Harlow would make in the end, and how she’d get out of her predicament. I’m not crazy about Slater, Jax is amazing, and I’ll always love Harlow. Also, I don’t want to give too much away, and you should definitely start at book one or this won’t make much sense, but you really don’t want to miss out on this series!
Narration: Another great round of narration, with each narrator taking a different POV, but still distinguishing voices, so it’s easy to tell who’s narrating and who’s talking. They really bring the story to life, and even though you’re listening, it’s easy to get lost because you’re almost watching it unfold as you hear it.
I receive a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I have to say that I did not want this series to be over. It kept me engaged with each paged turned. It does pick up where the last one left off and there is unrest that is hanging in the air. So much has changed for the intensely amazing cast of characters. Harlow's life is on the line. Slater and Jax have to work together. It made me smile and want to cry and I had to stop and take breaths and not get upset. I don't want to give too much away for it is definitely worth the read and reread.
Powerful Purples is the explosive finale of the Zadok series, and wow—does it go out with a bang. Secrets unravel, alliances are tested, and the stakes are higher than ever as the color-coded world tilts on its axis. It’s fierce, emotional, and dripping with the kind of twists that make you stop, blink, and immediately reread the page. Nikki Minty ties the saga together with passion, heart, and just the right amount of chaos. A bold, breathtaking conclusion that will leave you both satisfied and a little heartbroken to say goodbye.
Powerful Purples explodes with action, emotion, and jaw-dropping twists as the Zadok series reaches its thrilling finale. Harlow and her friends face impossible choices, political intrigue, and magical dangers that push them to their limits. Nikki Minty’s world-building is richer than ever, the characters are fierce and deeply relatable, and the stakes have never been higher. Dark, clever, and utterly addictive—this book is a satisfying, heart-pounding conclusion that fans won’t forget.
What a fabulous conclusion to this trilogy. Definitely got the conclusion that I was hoping for. The twists and turns kept coming in this third book of the series. I particularly loved the character development and how the relationships between each of them unfolded. Can't wait to see what the author, Nikki Minty writes for us next. I'll be first in line to buy the book.
