For Harper Calwell, family is the glue that has bound her life together since the death of her father. So when her brother announced that he wanted to pursue his dream of opening a coffee shop, she left her own aspirations to help him achieve his goal. Harper tells herself the work is rewarding, but the days drag on, and somewhere she feels she is cheating herself out of her own life.
The monotony of her routine takes a twist when she and her brother’s friend Andy, the arrogant, successful owner of the burger joint across the street, share an accidental kiss. She finds herself becoming distracted as their friendship becomes a relationship, and that newfound passion reminds her of what she has left behind. But when a shocking deceit leaves her questioning those closest to her, Harper has to decide whether her heart has been fooling her all along.
This book had all the makings of a great story and while the author managed to clean it up And pull it together it got lost along the way. There were so many storylines running together that the couple in question sort of get lost for a bit. To be honest I almost didn’t finish it but pushed though and was glad I did. Andy and Harper are so cute. He is the suave guy that gets all toung tied around a girl that’s played as insecure but seems that’s only when it comes to Andy. Things a cute Story but really takes effort to see it to the end.
A handsome successful business owner noticed the new coffee owners across the street. One he was developing a friendship with and the sister he was feeling more than friends about. The female coffee owner should really be an artist but is helping her brother follow his dreams. In the end they both get to follow their dreams.
I liked the premise but the plot was very flawed and the dialog was really choppy. The characters were very shallow and I never felt very committed to them. I wanted to enjoy this book because I really appreciate a small town romance where you fall for the town ,the new best friends, the family and the protagonists but I believe the author got lazy.
This was an interesting book and interesting characters among girl friends. The idea of a brother and sister working together and co-owning a business was a far stretch of the mind. In end was expected and the following story should be interesting.
This story is different than most I read. I was unsure as I was reading if I could get through it. But I got to the end and thought wow that is a great story. Going to have to get the next book in the series. Give it a go, you will be surprised.
I actually like the story, but it moved very slowly. I felt as if I got to know Harper and Andy quickly and then spent a long time waiting for a climactic moment.
I did wind up enjoying the story but felt it didn't need all 50+ chapters.
I absolutely loved this book. I laughed so many times I lost count. I loved everything.... from the relationship between Harper's friends and brother to her aunts. I loved the shy unsure side of Andy. I can't wait for book two, I hope it's Emily... Gia needs a store also. That is such a pro for this book you meet so many people that hopefully will get stories... I want more!!
This was a first read on this new author and her first fiction book. I enjoyed the read and the story line kept me reading with interest. I look forward to her follow up book.
