What would happen if humanity came to an end? Who would rise to the top of the food chain, who would dominate Earth?
Follow the STE Space Team as they return to their base in Edinburgh, now abandoned. A hundred years have passed on Earth. It’s not what they remember. Neither is a certain, predatory species whose murderous welcome makes it clear that this Space Team no longer has a home… nor a right to live…
If you thought seagulls were already cruel omens, then get ready to see them at their worst. In this post-apocalyptic Earth, they're mutated. They're deadlier. And human is their favourite dish.
This novella marks the second in the 'Fight or Flight' Collection. For something a little more humorous then be sure to check out the first in the series; "The Pigeon Detectives".

This is another book in the author’s ‘Flight or Fight’ collection. As with the first book the story is about killer birds. Not recommended for people who are phobic about birds!
Five astronauts return to earth after a 100 year mission to investigate another possible home planet for humans as the current one is rapidly deteriorating. Obviously they did the trip in stasis. When they return, they land near the Edinburgh space station but the place looks deserted and overgrown as if it has been abandoned. Then they notice the enormous seagulls!
The birds are almost as tall as humans with very sharp looking beaks. They are actually carrying weapons! Along their wings they have almost arms with primitive looking hands on them. And they are vicious! The survivors are marched to the Edinburgh castle where they witness a horror beyond imagining so I can’t tell you what it is.
This is another quick read, at 87 pages you can read it one sitting. It was quite gruesome but it WAS billed as horror. Next time I’m surrounded by seagulls I will certainly remember this book. The ending was excellent. I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as the first book but it was more impactful so I’m going with 3.5 stars rounded up. Many thanks to BookSirens for providing the free e-arc which I reviewed voluntarily and honestly.
This was a well-written, quick, and easy-to-read short story that was crisp and straight to the point. It had some creepy world-building that totally amazed me. The main characters were complex but relatable. And the “bad guys” were freaking nasty. Oh, my I will never forget them. This was such an enjoyable read that I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, but I must go back to read book 1 first. Sean P. Gibson thank you for this surprising story boy do you have a wild imagination. I encourage everyone to read this whole series.
Favorite Lines: “Get your Grav injections ready so that your body can handle the gravitational shift! I want you walking on your feet when we land, not kissing the floor like starfish!” “Don’t tell me that we’re the aliens on our own planet.”
It was my pleasure to receive a free copy of this book but that does not in any way affect my opinions in this review of this entertaining story.
GULLONIZATION is Book 2 in THE FLIGHT OR FRIGHT COLLECTION, a three-book Series featuring diffuse "Horror from the Skies." Book 1, PIGEON DETECTIVES, featured gory horror with some unexpected bizarre twists. GULLONIZATION is Science Fiction Horror, in which an exploratory space mission to a formerly undiscovered planet returns to Earth after a century in stasis (I'm unsure as to how they transported sufficient fuel for a round trip of such distance and another one-way to the "new" planet) and land at what they expect to be Edinburgh. Of course, this is not the Earth they left a century earlier. They might have been safer landing among Prehistoric Dinosaurs. This doesn't bode well for the future of humanity.
This was really good! I did really enjoy it! A nasty scary idea, can't imagine where this will go! It intrigued me from the start & it hooked me to the end! Great! A good short story & hopefully a good introduction to this writer!
This story surprised me with the plot and the ending. I think it would easily fit into a Sci-fi Horror label. It reads rather simplistic and cuts to the chase quickly yet it is intriguing. I wonder how someone could envision such horror?
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
After reading this book I sure am glad I do not live anywhere near sea gulls. This author has quite an imagination and a somewhat worrisome possible view of the world. It can seem quite bloody at times.
