Every tomboy deserves to score the guy of her dreams.
Bailey: I’m the Tomboy. I’ve dreamed of playing quarterback since I was a kid. No one on the football team wants me around, though, and I need to prove to them that I belong.
Zane Hastings is the only guy who welcomes me. But when he plays me like a fool, I don’t want anything to do with him. Then he comes to my rescue when some guys give me a hard time. Maybe he’s not such a jerk after all.
Maybe we can be friends.
Zane: I’ve never met anyone like Bailey. She’s smart, kind, funny, and the most beautiful girl I’ve ever met. We’re great friends.
If I want to be honest with myself, being just friends with her isn’t enough. I want more. But I’ve had a painful childhood and I don’t want to drag her into it. Bailey’s happy, carefree, living a practically perfect life. I still have demons I haven’t gotten over yet.
She and I can never have a future together. Or can we?
Rebels Don’t Fall For Tomboys is the fifth book in the Invisible Girls Club, a sweet YA contemporary romance series. If you like invisible girls who snag the boys of their dreams, this book is for you!
Hi! I'm Emma and I write sweet YA romance novels that will make you swoon. When I'm not writing, I love to read, play video games, get lost in a good movie, and I eat way too much junk food. My sweet YA books include The Invisible Girls Club series, The Hotties Next Door series, and Crushing On The New Guy. I also write sweet adult romance books under Emma Lynne, including the Single Girls Club series. I love hearing from my readers, so please don’t hesitate to email me or follow me on Facebook.
This is the fifth instalment in the Invisible Girls series, but you don’t have to read the first four to enjoy this one. That said, there are a lot of cute references throughout to the original four couples! This book is so incredibly sweet. Bailey and Zane are now sixteen (they were only six years old in the last book in the series), and despite being opposites in personality, they’re perfect for each other. I love how the author’s definition of “rebel” is a football player who doesn’t care about his grades and spends all his free time reading. Mmk. Nevertheless, this was a cute story that had some well-dealt with themes of grief as both Bailey and Zane have lost loved ones in the past. Like the others in this series, this book reads as a lower-YA (despite the characters being sixteen), and it’s perfectly clean–no swearing, smut, or violence. 4 stars
I swear, the Hasting brothers are so ridiculous. I honestly thought Zane would he better seeing as he was a readaholic as a kid, didn't take him for a jock. But I was surprised by how nice he was and how he stood up for Bailey even after the QB thing. But....like his brother he had to go and ruin everything. Omg, the amound the angst and pining and ugh.....over 25% of the book AH!😤 So many eyerolls. I HATE when a dude (or girl) pushes their signficant other away for literally NO reason. Pure fear of heartbreak that they are already CAUSING. So yeah, I was hoping it'd be better than Zack and I can't BELIEVE he thought his brother wouldn't get it....but yeah, no. Zane gets the same 2 stars as Zack. Heartbreakers over here smh And it didn't help cheer ME up any, as I also just lost someone. I expect my rom coms/romances to pick me up not bring me down 😓
First of all let me begin my review with this statement I DEMAND a book about Manny, he was brushed aside unjustly and he deserves his love story now to my review This series continues to amaze me for how cute it is, I've been looking for this vibe for a while and finally I got what I want This book takes place ten years after the previous books where we will meet a teen Bailey (Braydon's baby sister who was six) and a teen Zane( who was Zack brother and was six), Bailey just transfered from boarding school to public school where Zane is preparing to be the Quarterback, but Bailey applies and snatches his position from him, at first nobody accepts Bailey in the team but Zane accepts her and they form unlikely friendship both they lost people they care about .. how will love find its way to their hearts ? the book was really nice and have a darker theme, but man Zane needed a real slap in the face for him to open his eyes and see how many people love him, Ally and Zack are angels and everybody is willing to cut their arms and legs for him, yet he sees himself as unlovable and his life is hard? Bailey is an absolute angel I loved her soo much, she is what every girl wish to be, strong, determent and an amazing sport .. the book was really nice and I smiled a lot during the book
It was an okay story. I don't like the idea of female football players (unpopular opinion, I know), but I liked Bailey. She wasn't bratty like I worried and she honestly just pursued her dreams and saw them become reality. I also appreciated that she was a tomboy who still loved pink and sparkly things.
I liked the themes of grief and connected to that aspect of the book. I also related to Zane a lot, although I didn't really care for him as a character. He was Zach 2.0, and Zach was what made me not like Bad Boys Don't Fall For Shy Girls (the third book in this series). Zane's character, thoughts, and storyline were a copy/paste of Zach's, and I honestly found it repetitive and annoying to read, especially in the last half of the book. And once Bailey and Zane got together, I didn't feel anything for them as a couple.
The guy characters I did really like were Luke (the jerk football player who reformed) and Manny (Bailey's best friend). I honestly wanted Bailey to have ended up with Manny or Luke. That would have made this book a five-star read. Wish that had happened!
Wow!!! Bailey and Zane are just a wonderful couple!! Seeing Bailey grow up and Zane from the first generation was incredible. Bailey is a tomboy but has her moments as a girl who loves football. She always wanted to play football as a QB and she got her wish. Zane had a troubled childhood who loves reading books but plays football to get into college. Bailey and Zane had their ups and downs but once they communicated everything came together in a way. The bike rides are one of the most important times. Manny and Bailey's friendship felt so real because this does happen a lot with friends but sometimes that is all it is friends. I enjoy reading this book so much. I laughed and I cried. I absolutely love how we see the first generation in the books and see how their lives are. I can't wait to read the third generation now...
I did like the previous books in the series better than this one. It felt a little awkward during some parts of the book and the writing wasn’t the best. It was kinda of a slow burn and to be honest nearing the end I almost forgot they were suppose to be more than a platonic relationship. The book kinda dragged on and I never really felt to satisfied with the end. Bailey gave the vibe, “I am different, I am not like the other girls” and she was annoying at some parts. She started to grow on me as the book came to an end, but by then I just wanted it to end. Zane was going through a lot and I never really felt like he got the talk and help he needed. I really love zane and could relate a lot to him. i also felt like his friends weren’t really his friends… like idk how to explain it but something felt off. The footballers and cheerleaders were a bunch of cringy characters and didn’t had much to the story. After reading this I remember why I usually read the books I do, adult romance. I usually love emma daltons books but this one felt off and I didn’t enjoy it as much. :/
I am halfway through this ten book series, and I have really enjoyed reading each and every one. This is the story of Bailey, who has always dreamt of being a female quarterback. When she joins the team, she is met with a lot of pushback from the boys, except for Zane, which is the boy who she took the QB position from. It starts as a friendship, and it develops into love. This is a sweet, YA book that I would recommend to anyone who likes that genre.
The Love story between Zane and Bailey is one that is complex. That’s what makes it one for the ages. The author has given the readers a true relationship. One that is messy and has many twists and turns. That’s what makes it so real and relatable. Unlike other authors of the same genre Emma Dalton makes you realize love is messy and isn’t easy. There is realism in her description of love.
Here we are folks, book 5 tells the love story of two characters who were introduced early on as children: Bailey Barrington and Zane Hastings.
Reading about them as teenagers pretty much put me in my feels y'all.
I enjoyed reading about how the original four ended up. Even getting to see a character I never expected.
Now, reading about these two (Bailey and Zane) was sort of a rollercoaster of nostalgia, since I'd read about Brayden's love story with Kara and Zack's love story with Ally. This book was a combination of the two. Take the football aspect of book 1, the second broken boy of book 3, and many more, and you've got this. No fake dating.
I love a good sports romance and Bailey reaching for her dreams. Speaking of the younger Barrington, I love reading about how much energy Bailey has. I would love to have her as a friend IRL because she was impossible to dislike.
Zane, on the other hand, is so much like Zack. Not in just physical appearance, but in... everything. He might just be even more broken than Zack was as a teenager. That's not a spoiler, okay? Read the blurb. I still loved him regardless. He's the dude who looks all tough but is really a soft puppy when you get to know him.
What I loved more than anything was the POVs. The first four books gave you a small glimpse at the male's POV. This book divides up evenly, giving you both Zane's side of the story as much as Bailey's.
When I first heard about this book, I had no clue about how this would go. But now, I loved it and I hope you do, too.

I really enjoyed this book, I do hope that Manny gets a book because I’m curious to see if he’ll end up with someone.
Plus Trey, Luke, Dion and Flynn needs a book too. I was wondering if they find someone in school or in college or something.
Besides all that you could tell that Zane cared about Bailey a lot but he kept pushing her away. Due to him losing everyone he loved. And not only that he didn’t want to hurt her. I was glad when he finally admitted to her and also not push her away. Once they actually had that talk at the bleachers.
It’s interesting to learn that they both ended up together because I remember him going to her sixth birthday party and not wanting to be there. He wanted to leave but she wanted him to play them lol. But I can’t remember Manny at all lol.

Love this book! After reading the first 4 in the series I was super excited to find out there was a 5th book being released. This book, just like the previous ones, display such raw teenage emotions and the characters come to life with expressions and actions. Bailey and Zane do their best to beat the odds and fight for each other and their love. If you love a great clean teenage romance these are the series for you
I really liked the storyline and the character development. I also really appreciated the supporting characters in regards to dealing with mental health issues and struggles with grief. I do think that the grief and mental health discussion could have been more elaborate through the book. But I think it did well as a modest story that is clear, simple, cute, clean, and loveable. Every romance pair by Dalton is absolutely adorable.
9.-12.12.23 DNF at 25% This is book 5 in the Invisible Girls Club series and with this one a “new generation” starts. I was actually looking forward to continuing this series, but my KU subscription ended and when I renewed it more than a year (maybe even two years..) later, I had a lot of other books I wanted to try first, so I ended up not borrowing a second time. If you enjoyed other books of this series you will probably enjoy this one too.
This book was very disappointing. Even the title was misleading. The guy was more emotionally damaged than a rebel. The girl wassn’t a tomboy but a star athlete like many others both pro and amateur. Maybe the author was so eager to write “lnvisible Girls: The Next Generation” that she spent more energy updating old characters than on developing new ones.
I loved everything about this series including the jokes in the book, one of my new favourites. PLEASE recommend this book series to everyone you know that has a romantics heart ❤
I got annoyed with this book to be honest. I can handle and understand a couple conflicts, but to play the victim card over and over and over again was too much. I almost stopped reading it. Having said that it was nice to finally get to the sweet part at the end of the story.
Zane and Bailey are adorable together. From the beginning they care about each other and it only increases when Bailey gets starting QB. They grow so much closer by being on the football team together. I just can’t take how cute they are.
It’s getting a bit redundant. Zane is a bit too much like Zach. There are a few things I liked. It was a bit hard to think a girl was a better QB. Still a fun read. Super slow burn. A minor trio situation that’s resolved
