Empath Found #1-3

Empath Found: The Complete Trilogy

Rate this book
Fi has always known there’s something not quite right about herself.

Not quite human.

For as long as she can remember, Fi has been sensitive to other people’s emotions. So sensitive, she works a night job as a cleaner to avoid being overwhelmed by all of their feelings.

After a night on the town goes wrong, Fi comes to the attention of the Academy of Avalon. The obscenely beautiful jerk of a man who comes to collect her confirms her suspicions — Fi isn’t human at all.

But all is not as it seems in Avalon. Magic is dying, those who have it are hunted, and at least one person really doesn’t want Fi there.

Fi also has to figure out how to deal with the insane magnetic pull she feels to some of the most gorgeous and magically powerful males at the Academy. What’s a little boy drama on top of an identity crisis?

This is the complete Empath Found trilogy, featuring The Terrible Gift, The Unwanted Challenge, and The Reluctant Keeper, as well as new bonus content. This series is a fated-mates-with-a-twist, medium burn reverse harem. Suitable for readers 18+

I love this series and the bonus content added to my enjoyment, esp the additions to the extended epilogues. Each of the main characters show growth throughout the series and the world building is so engaging, particularly the take on fated mates/bonds. I’m hopeful there’ll be more written in this world someday besides Fi’s trilogy and Shira’s duet (which is also amazing). There is some ow drama with one of the guys but I felt like it was toned down some with the revisions of this boxset from the original. I still could have shaken the guy in question but his character’s story and both his and the FMC’s personalities make the ow drama make more sense in this case.

Book one:
I loved how it started, the plot looked interesting, the world also... but half a book I realized
I hated the one dimensional male characters and their mating bond made their interaction to the heroine insta boring
The heroine is a twenty year woman acting like an average teenager, but people around her sees her as strong, unique and independent. I don't get it.
The world remained underdeveloped because the author is focused on how the heroine, previously described as strong and independent, can be a submissive partner to one of her mates... I guess this is really important for the plot...
Book two:
Didn't finish, she meets mate number four, characters remained one dimensional... lost interest

I tried, and tried, and tried, but no. I was unable to connect. I do not believe that these 3 men would have such a strong pull to her. There was nothing wonderful about her except the rarity of being a empath.

It was a great premise…
DNF. I gave it a try.

Listen- this is in no way a high fantasy book and if it were it probably wouldn’t get four starts. However, it goes a good job of providing you with a solid amount of fae smut, cute relationship moments, and drama.

The stakes are really NOT that high and makes this a cozy read for me. When I’m reading romance, I don’t want a ton of terrible things to happen! And if bad stuff does happen, I just don’t want it to last forever. That’s just me though.

I liked the pacing of this book, the relationships, the setting- our FMC does follow the quirky accidental chosen one trope, but I didn’t mind.

This series was my first foray into the RH universe and I was pretty much hooked within a couple of chapters of this book when I originally read it. Then listened to the series.

I have read a number of RH books now and this series would have to be hands down my favourite.

To read that Colette had added alot of new material and an extended epilogue was music to my ears and another excuse to reread this amazing series.

The added content took an already amazing series to a whole new level. Especially the epilogue. This is the epilogue I had hoped for originally. On all my rereads I always wondered what happened next. Did they have kids and what was that like.

When I finished reading this book I felt like it was actually complete now. Fi and her guys felt like they had said all they needed to say and my heart felt full. I got the ending I had always hoped for and so when I got to the Author notes I was happy to finish this book.

Of course I will reread it again no doubt lol. Multiple times.

Well done Colette, I take my hat off to you and thank you for this amazingly beautiful story and introducing my to RH and the Fae world.

I received a free copy of this book from the Author and I voluntarily leave an honest review.

Fae Fantasy with RH and Magic

Almost 5 stars, but still an excellent read. I read through this series as quickly as I could because it was hard to put down.
Fi is thrust into a world she has no idea existed, with powers she doesn’t know what to do with. She chooses to stay in Avalon and explore her powers and more about herself, learning a new way of life completely different from her old one. She finds friends, mates, family and many enemies. Fi is definitely forced into an adventure she wasn’t at all prepared for, but gets help along the way from her mates and allies.
Her mates are all so different from each other, each with a different Fae affinity and extra gifted power that comes in handy on her quest. She faces obstacles and trials that test her strength and resolve, but overcomes them.
After all the build up in the first two books, I expected an epic ending. The “showdown” in the council chambers was a little anticlimactic to me. We don’t even find out what happened to the other council members. I would have liked some more info about the new council, who took over the school, or if the Assembly and other races helped out at all after the chaos settled. I did enjoy the epilogue, but still felt the ending was a little rushed.

The same good story you knew but with some extras and a gorgeous new cover!

This story is one of my favourites, I love the relationships they all build with together (and how well the guys get along!), nothing feels rushed and I have the feeling that I know all Fi’s guys (and would willingly steal a couple, if not all, of them). They fit so naturally together and you really understand how they all separately fit with a different part or need that Fi has.
And omg I’d forgotten how much Enfys annoyed me 😆

What I also love about this book, is that Fi is the chosen one, but it doesn’t feel as if everything in the book centers around that and we still get a lot of the ‘normal’ relationship stuff and seeing Fi get used to this new world she got dropped in. I especially like that the books don’t focus on like this ‘one big battle’ that is supposed to be the end all of their problems. That said, if you love like ‘the big fight’ and well, a lot of fighting, this probably isn’t the book you’re looking for.

NO spoilers - Fated mates, Reverse Harem, Fae, Chosen one, Fantasy, medium burn/spice Adult read

Loved this Trilogy, have read it twice now and class it a relaxing weekend read where I need a book with a little bit of everything in it but nothing that will have me throwing down in anger, desperation or tears, a feel good book in other words.
The main characters are well rounded and lovable, flaws and all! Each with distinctive personalities and skills.
The side ones have intrigued me enough to search out their stories and the spice was varied enough to titillate but not detract from the plot.
Settings were easy to envision and the story line flows smoothly.
Enjoyed the epilogues very much, only niggle I have is that personally I would have liked a little more of the battles at the end, seemed to end a tadge abruptly and the FMC participation a little anticlimactic.

Complete collections in one are my favourite ways to read a series and this omnibus does not disappoint.

Give it a few chapters

An interesting take on why the fae lost their homeworld (not a spoiler, they don't in this book) But I'm sure we've all come across books that spoke of them having to leave it to live on earth instead. Would have been a 5* If we hadn't been teased about all the other mythological creatures then give 2% mention.

The heroin is likeable enough after about 50% of book 1, I almost gave up to be honest. Glad I didn't because it picked up. Her gift is different from the others but for all the build-up she doesn't really do much with it. It's a good read although her story is tragic, she does shine through towards the end.

good

The storyline and characters were all well written and thought out. I enjoyed watching each of the harem come together in their own way. My only issue is how the author decided to wrap up the series. We get the main plot resolution through these long time jumps but they are brief retellings. I get that the point is a society can’t be fixed overnight but the author could have told some of these battles/events in real time and let us experience them as the characters did. I think it would have given the book a stronger finish and I would have liked it more. Overall I would recommend this book to people.

Addictive

This is book is like so many of Colette’s books addictive. I was on the edge of my seat wishing I had more free time so that I could keep reading. I would definitely recommend this book if you are a fan of Colette’s other books or even if your a fan of RH in general. I loved the way the relationships developed and how we were given insights into each of the characters mind without feeling like it was disconnected to the storylines progress. It will definitely be a book I will reread.

Well I read the whole thing. Given it was 3 books in one that says something. It also entirely forgettable. 2.5* rounded down.

This is reverse harem - not a strong genre to begin with. Then it is paired with fairly middling fantasy of the high school variety. This is not a good pairing. The characters have to be older for it to not be utterly squicky but sadly the writing leaves the main character with the personality of a 15 year old. Add in the way way too old partner and the "dom" partner who isn't and it just doesn't quite work.

Much better

I read the first two books in this trilogy a while ago and struggled with it. I stumbled on this omnibus and grabbed it, not realizing at first that this was the same series that lost my interest previously. I’m not sure if this collection has undergone an editing makeover but I enjoyed the series much more this time around.

I especially liked the multiple epilogues.

This is my second time reading through this series. I hadn't read it since Covid I think, and my tastes have changed a lot. Kidnapping plots are so overdone and I didn't love how this book went about it...twice. once, I can handle. But when the plot is nearly about kidnapping in every book, I lose interest. The second thing, the whole story is majorly built up and you know there is going to be a massive takedown. It was so fast, almost like it didn't even happen. So I was pretty disappointed in my reread.

Couldn’t put it down!!!!

I really enjoyed the characters in this trilogy. Collette Rhodes did a wonderful job of putting the right shine on all the important personalities.
I particularly love that Fi still showed her displeasure at the gods who gave her the task of bringing balance.

Great story!

I wasn’t familiar with this author or these books when I read this trilogy and I really enjoyed it. I especially liked the author not using a lot of ridiculous hoops and obstacles for the characters. It gets old when characters keep doing things wrong to mess up their relationships. I look forward to reading more of Colette’s books.

With the first book, I had higher hopes for the series.
It hooked me enough to read to completion but the last book totally lost me.
I guess I would recommend it to my friends, if only to get their opinions on it.

These books are set in the same world as the Deadly Dragons Duet and I wish there were more in this world! Dark Romance can become a lot and sometimes we need a good book that doesn't send us spiraling. This series is one of those for me. I will re-read this series over and over again.

Not a bad read… the story was interesting. The depth of character was lacking. I also did not enjoy the smexy scenes 😩 they just didn’t do it for me. I powered through all 3 books and the epilogue, will also read the Deadly Dragons Duet because I enjoyed the storyline.

Good Read

This was a brilliant read with lots of ups and downs through the book and a story that had me addicted from the get go. I loved all the characters by the end and fell in love with the story. I would recommend giving it a read.

I'd read it again

Good characters, original story, I like how the FMC didn't want to be the hero and didn't become some dictator queen in the end.
