Anybody who has met Craig Hazen will love this book. His voice comes through so well that I could picture his expressions as I read. For those of you who do not know him, do yourself a favor and read this book and get to know him.

There are a lot of books out there on prayer but this one is different in that it asks and answers an important question: Why we don't ask and why we should. The book is one of those that you can read fairly quickly but you will find yourself wanting to read again and again.

A good reminder to align our hearts with God's as we seek Him in prayer. What a benevolent God we serve, who does not shy away from our petitions, but delights to give us good gifts. Lord, teach us to trust You deeper and to rest in the knowledge that You are both a sovereign and kind God--so that these two truths may lead us deeper into fervent prayers.

Will God really give us what we ask?

Craig Hazen remembers reading John 15:7 and hearing a voice tell him, "You don't really believe that." This began a journey for Hazen to find the meaning of this promise and implement it in his life. Hazen shares with us some of the things he has learned and shows us how to apply effective prayer to our walk with God.

I think Hazen provides insight into an important aspect of prayer. One which is often misunderstood or overlooked. I think his treatment could use some work in order to provide some helpful balance. It is a good read as one of several books on prayer, but not great as a stand alone resource.
