For twenty years, Tyler Hayes had been ripped from his childhood home. After the horrific accident that took away his parents’ life, Tyler’s grandfather removed him from the mansion and sent him away.
Now, after twenty years, his grandfather had passed away and he could finally go home. However, even in his death, Tyler’s grandfather had betrayed him once again, leaving the mansion to a woman he had never met.
Even though Kate Mitchell had never met Tyler, she knew all about the accident that changed the Hayes’s family. Unbeknownst to her, was how she was going to end up being caught in the middle of a long estranged relationship between two different generations.
Two complete different personalities would have to learn to get along and play nice in order to survive a will that would change their lives.

Before you read further, please note that I was contacted by the author and asked if I would read the book and post an "honest" review. I have written to the author and suggested some things that I hope will make future work even better. Here is my review:
Moving On is a good work by a new, young author who is striving to Move On herself in her skills and creative writing world. The book could use a good editor to take care of some grammar issues and also some wrong wording that can easily be corrected. That is always something that a new indy author has trouble finding, a good editor.
The story is part Romeo and Juliet and part Pride and Prejudice. I can see parts of each story within Moving On. Kate Mitchell is a young woman who becomes associated with a Grandfatherly man who has volunteered at the Nursing Home unit where her grandmother is. This man provides loving care for her grandmother and then befriends her as well.
Their relationship becomes one of a grandfather/granddaughter even though they aren't blood relatives (I can relate personally as I have several relationships like this). When Grandfather Hayes dies he asks Kate to do something for him, he asks her to do her best to help his grandson from whom he is estranged. Kate promises. This leads to the most unusual year of her life.
Grandfather Hayes wants Kate and his grandson, Tyler Hayes, to live in the same "Family Home" for the next year. They will have two chaperon's, the older caring Marianne who has taken care of Tyler as well as Mr. Sawyer the elderly lawyer of the family.
The story brings a disgruntled, angry, bitter young many home to face some issues. It brings a young Christian woman who loves life and cared deeply for Grandfather Hayes to a place where she is going to have to face some of her past issues as well.
Both young people lost their parents in ghastly ways at early ages. They have to face those demons and deal with them. They also have to face the reality of learning to care and trust each other.
The story is a bit simple. The plot is predictable. The dialogue somewhat simplistic. There are many things I might have developed differently, such as their wealth, their friends, Kate's Christian walk. etc.
But all in all this was a fun read. I must admit that I have twenty other books I am suppose to read and review. I told Trisha Grace I would read three chapters and give her some thoughts. Instead I got hooked and read the whole thing.
Simple, YES, Predictable, YES, Enjoyable, YES!
Why only four stars? Because she needs an editor. She needs some development in her writing. If I give her four stars she has nothing to work towards.
I started reading the book and was immediately drawn into the quirky conditions of the will that Mr. Hayes had drawn up for Tyler and Kate. I knew then on that this book was going to be about how 2 individuals change when circumstances bring them together.
I loved Kate as a character. I felt she had a lot of depth. I read that the book had been redone as a Christian Fiction and you could make that out because Kate was so strong in her faith. Another character who I really loved was Evelyn, Kate's best friend and business partner. I love ladies who are strong and do not take any form of trash dished out to them.
I felt this story had a lot of elements going on. Tyler and Kate feel the early attraction. It is visible to anyone who reads, that Tyler has gone so far as to change himself for Kate. And this change is good change.
I enjoyed the back characters who are Tyler's friends. They make interesting reading. It also adds depth to the book and doesn't solely focus on the lead pair.
The ending was an absolute thriller!!! I was hooked to this book and I couldn't move, I had to finish reading it!
A book which I thought would be typical but it wasn't! A Good Read
Must share house to keep Interesting idea Junior high writing
I should have read the other reviews before downloading this book, not just looked at all the stars. The book sounds like it was written by a middle schooler, and so do many of the 5-star reviews. I really wanted to like this book, because the premise is interesting, but I just can't recommend it.
Tyler Hayes had been taken away from a home that had been his since childhood. Over twenty years ago. When his parents died from a terrible accident, Tyler's grandfather sent him away from the mansion.
Twenty years later, Tyler's grandfather died and Tyler could finally go back home. But once again, Tyler was betrayed by his family. Death didn't even stop the cruelty of the grandfather. Tyler wasn't the heir to the mansion. A mysterious woman was. Kate Mitchell. She didn't know Tyler, but she did know of the changes in the Haye's family.
Here we have two generations that have long been apart from each other. Will Kate bring them back together? Different people with different ideas, personalities and solutions to the problems. Will they learn to try to get along or will the feud continue?
The author wrote a good book that shows the past can be overcome and you can move on. The author wrote the characters with such colorful descriptions that helped to make the story flow well. This was a lay it all out on the table book. The author held nothing back.
The author put a fair amount of suspense in the novel which kept the reader turning the pages to find out what will happen next. A well written, suspenseful, page turner. The author put in one huge lesson, You can let go of the past and move on. You can reunite after 20 years. It all depends on the person and how much he or she wants to make amends and move on.
I was given a complimentary copy of MOVING ON from the author, Trisha Grace for my view of the book. No other compensation took place.
This is the first book I've read written by Trisha. It's full of intrigue and had me on the edge of my seat at times. I highly recommend this story. Thanks.

What I liked from this read.....
First up front, I thought "Moving On" story line was one good novel that showed one overcoming one's past and moving as with Tyler and Kate's life. This author really worked with all of the interesting secondary characters that played a well developed, colorful (Evelyn, Joanne and Marianne) part in this good flow of the story. This author held nothing back showing the struggles and growth of these two main characters showing all of the events and emotions that will come up throughout the read.
What I also liked and my overall impression.....
I will say this was definitely a suspenseful read that you will have to keep up with but after saying that .... I was able to follow the thoughts of this author on this interesting journey as you will see if "two complete different personalities learn to get along and play nice in order to survive a will that would change their lives." And with saying that....I really enjoyed this incredible told story as I listened from my Kindle. I would recommend you pick up "Moving On" to see how this author brings it all out to the reader. It will be one interesting, powerful and entertaining ride as you will see how this author uses her imagination to give the reader a good story.
This book brings to us a christian based romances, with a couple of good splashes of suspense. Which shows that even though the author reworked the book she still followed the same story which is good. I loved the characters and how the story flowed. You can see how the main characters Tyler and Kate grow throughout the book to become the people that they need to be to be happy in life. It's nice to see that in a book, the author shows you the struggles. The side characters make this book what it is if you didn't have them it wouldn't be the book that it was. They help with what the main characters are doing. They help them when they can't help themselves. My full review is available at http://allnightbooks.com/?p=329
I loved this book. I have never heard of sharing a home with someone for a year per request of a loved ones will, but loved the idea of it in this book. The story line is wonderful and the characters are fun & witty. Well, with the exception of Joanne, as I just didn't seem to like her at all. I found her to be a clingy whiny ex girlfriend. One you just want to slap and tell her to shut the heck up and move on with her life already, lol. The bond between Tyler and Kate is electrifying. I was so happy for them when they finally became one. The story has leads to other avenues or other goings on between characters which leads you to wanting to read more. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

Some of the characters are unbelievable. There was some action towards the end. There was a recurring ugly word not usually found in Christian fiction. I believe there are angels, but I don't believe people become angels when they die. No Gospel message, not much loving forgiveness between sisters - maybe in the next book. No conclusion regarding the murder mystery. I don't care to read the next installment to find out!
This author should never ever dare show up at my house. The only thing that would happen would be screaming "Why, why did you leave me hanging?" It was an amazing book it had me pacing in all the right paces and wishing I were Kate in most parts. AMAMZING BOOK!!
I couldn't come up with a title that was both short and accurate to describe this book in a way that satisfied me. First, if you're looking for closure, you won't find it in this book. Second, Tyler is a jerk to everyone. If it wasn't for Kate, he'd still be a jerk. And knowing what I know about human nature, he's going to continue being a jerk. Third, I thought this book was inspirational, but there was nothing showing real spiritual growth of any kind. A few desperate prayers and a handful of ghosts do not an inspirational romance make. Fourth, though it didn't bother me too much, it'll bother others that this book marketed as inspirational included a little colorful language. Nothing graphic or gratuitous, but those sorts of words simply aren't expected in an inspirational book, and certainly not from the one character (until the end) who we are to assume is the Christian. Fifth, the plot dragged. I know why, having reached the end of the book without anything being brought to a neat end. Seriously? Half the story could've been erased, and I wouldn't have been lost. Sixth...Joanne...ugh... So you may be wondering why I gave three stars and not less. There were no typos that I noticed. The story was free of sex. It has the potential to be a truly great story. But too many problems were solved too easily, too many characters were just annoying, and I had trouble relating to any of them.
SENSUALITY RATING: No profanity; No Euphemistic "code words; No sexual encounters
GENRE: Inspirational Romance; slight touch of the Supernatural
SETTING: A mansion somewhere in the USA
CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTER: KATE MITCHELL – Owner of a successful interior designer company; caring and sensitive to the needs of others.
CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: TYLER HAYES – Owner of a successful security systems company; not sociable; just lives in his own world.
SYNOPSIS: They have both lost their parents and now she has lost a good friend. He was abandoned by his grandfather and as a result he does not connect with other people. They meet at a funeral.
WHAT I LIKED: Tyler’s friends crack me up. Also, a song being played on the piano; a couple dancing in the moonlight; a rescue.
WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: Tyler’s overprotectiveness is written OVER THE TOP; Joanne’s obsession is written OVER THE TOP; Kate being protected by everyone is written OVER THE TOP.
OVERALL RATING: (4) stars because fantastic plot but some things written over the top. Absolutely I will read book two.
Please read a few quotes and a brief summary of this book on “my Main Page” of LibraryThing.com http://www.librarything.com/
This is a sweet love story with mystery, healing, suspense and a little fun thrown in. I like how her series work because the overarching mystery isn’t solved in book one and it keeps the storyline going in a fun way. For this first book we find Tyler, who is estranged from his grandfather, and Kate, who befriended said Grandfather, meeting for the first time at the funeral. They find out that in order for Ty to get his family’s mansion he has to live in it for one year with Kate. If not, Kate keeps the mansion and can do with it what she wants—except give it to Tyler. Along with some other obscure rules added to the situation, they decide to make it work and you can guess where that leads. The mystery and suspense comes in when they start digging into the past, trying to answer questions about the tragedies they’ve each faced.
Some things I enjoyed: -opposites attract -forced proximity -banter -friends that are family -realistic representation of faith -serious topics without too much heaviness And of course, some suspense and mystery!
This does have a small element of ghosts (not in a scary way) which isn’t my cup of tea, but it’s not enough to make me dislike the book overall. I am looking forward to the second book!
This is an incredible book that differs from other Christian based romance novels because of its underlying themes of moving on and moving forward in life, which are very relevant in these times we’re in.
In this book, the reader gets drawn into the story from the first chapter and grows to love the two main characters, who are complete opposites, but definitely meant for each other.
To say I enjoyed reading this book will be an understatement. Not only did I, through the lives of Kate and Tyler, learn the importance of moving on from painful situations and moving forward in life, but I was also reminded of God’s omnipresence and hand in situations. Reading this book, as well as finding out that the near car accident incident that happened to Kate actually happened in the life of the author, made me reflect on my own life and remember the ‘this was definitely God’s intervention’ moments.
This book is definitely a must read and worthy of five stars. I can’t wait to read the next book to learn more about Evelyn.
First off, this is not a complete book. So if you are not going to read all the books in the series, you will not know what happens. Secondly, it is obvious that the author added the "Christian" parts of it as an after thought, they don't flow, much less make sense. And they certainly don't belong in the same book, as soon getting saved from a fire by ghosts! The Sawyer and Joanne characters just don't make any sense. The lawyer is going to give up his life for a year, just to make sure they follow the stipulation of the will, except he isn't even going to show up to do that until 2 months in!? And there are some sections that need editing. I would have given 1 star, but I did want to k ow what happens (but am not willing to buy 2 more books to find out, and I think the author thinks the story is wrapped up based on the explanation of the ghosts, and the start of the second book). And there wasn't anything objectionable, just stupid.
Hmm, this was definitely a good and intriguing book. So much so, that I may get the next book in the series. However, I am willing to admit that I missed the lack of steamy sense and had a hard time wrapping my brain around the living situations. What I had a hard time reconciling with was the abundance of people that seemed to spend the night together in the same locations. When I purchased the book, I didn't realize that the story was Christian Fiction, from my own lack of research. I will say that I tend to prefer steamier romance novels. However, Ms. Grace writes well, her story line is intriguing and it kept my interest as I moved through the book. She made me want to read on to see what happens with the other characters in her series. I would recommend this book if you aren't looking for hot, steamy scene, but are looking for a good mystery with a HEA wrapped in it!
I quit reading this one at about 30%. The whole situation isn't a good fit for a Christian fiction. To fulfill the conditions of a will, Tyler and Kate were required to live together in the same mansion with just a housekeeper. They couldn't ever be apart from each other overnight for a whole year. They don't get along, but they have to be together. It's hard to believe this situation would exist, and if it does it isn't a healthy one for Christian fiction. Tyler is constantly rude and uncaring, even to his close friends. Kate, who's supposed to be the opposite, also gives pretty strong answers. This book was free. I decided not to download it, but my husband did.
Sadness, romance, suspense. Strong, interesting characters. Lead woman is a young Christian who tends to take care of everyone. Young man lead is sad, lost parents at early age and se t away by grandfather who lives in past. Grandfather's will has crazy conditions so Kate and Tyler will have to get to know each other. Grand father liked Kate and Hope's she'll take care of Tyler. I read prequel and it made beginning easier to understand. Of course being a series part of ending left unfinished. That's why I don't read to many series. I get a lot of good books free. This one is today on Amazon.
Tyler Hayes had been away from his home for 20 years. When he was a young child his parents were killed in an accident. Tyler's grandfather packed him up and sent him away. He had never seen his grandfather again; Then his grandfather died. Tyler could once again go home. Except Grandfather had left the mansion to a woman he had never known.
Kate Mitchell knew about the accident and had been there for his grandfather throughout the years. She did not know she would become embroiled into a longstanding feud between generations.
Read the book to see how Kate and Tyler fared with this new relationship. This is an excelling book Easy to read and fun.
I have never read anything by this author & didn’t know anything about them. I really wanted to like this book but I must say I feel like I was reading a book written by a child. It was very hard for me to finish the book and I kept putting it down. I committed to reading the whole thing but I really didn’t enjoy it. I feel I wasted my time reading this book & I won’t be reading any of the other books in this series. There was not enough substance to this book & the story was to simple, unbelievable and uninteresting. I wouldn’t recommend this book.
There's still so much left undone! Like the fire? The person threatening her? No! You don't end books like that.
Other than that, it was pretty good! I really liked that the person going after Kate was left unknown and wasn't obvious. I mean, they left us without knowing at the end, and I have no guesses! Grr. Good thing there are more books, I'm just not sure I'll be able to get a hold of them...
This was a good book. Very predictable, but nevertheless, a good book. Tyler was called back home for the reading of his grandfather's will. After the will was read, things changed. He and Kate had to live in the house for a year as friends, in order for him to get the house. There are lots of ups and downs including a girl that thinks Tyler belongs to her. There is mystery and excitement in the book and of course romance. If you like nice clean books without sex, drinking, and cursing, then this is the book for you. I loved it
Tyler felt he was abandoned by his grandfather after his parents death. Twenty years later he ordered to his funeral and the reading of his will. Hoping to receive the place he grew up he’s disappointed to find his been bequeathed to a woman he doesn’t know.
Kate is stunned as she sits and listens to the reading of Mr. Hayes will. Now in order to right things she has to agree to the stipulations of the will.
This is a thought provoking book with many ahah momenets. Love it.
This is the first book in a series that starts with Ty’s parents being killed in a fire and his grandfather sends him away. Years later his grandfather dies and he comes back thinking he can finally stay in the mansion he assumes that will be his.But his grandfather has a strange will that involves Kate a woman he doesn’t know. Her parents are dead now and the will is bringing them both together to figure out why. There are secrets and twists that have to be figured out as danger is coming.
This book is based on a fun concept: abiding by the crazy terms of a will. I like how Trisha Grace weaves in life's problems, God and faith, and a clean, sweet romance. Throw in interesting characters - including a quirky, kinda crazy sister - and you have a wonderful story. Oh! and there's mystery as well. Wanting to know how it is solved kept me turning the pages! I'm ready to buy the next book in the series to find out.
Absolutely amazing love story full of adventure and mystery. I love the characters and their story line is beautiful and interesting. The way they bring the story to life is phenomenal and makes you feel part of the journey. I absolutely enjoyed reading this beautiful story and I highly recommend it. Excellent writing and definitely a book to enjoy. Congratulations! I look forward to reading Dan and Evelyn’s story.
I read this book on a bit of a whim, however, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story the characters where all very believable, I am not a religious person, but this story carefully built it in without going over the top and just expressing their view without judgment to others. The plot had a little of everything without going on repeat, just enough suspicion, suspense and drama but with lots of care, love and true friendship. Highly recommend.
It was about a woman named Kate who had been a friend to an older man. He died, and he left his mansion to her. There was a Clause that his grandson Tyler would inherit the mansion if he lived there with Kate for a year. Kate knew about Tyler and wanted Tyler to inherit the mansion. During that year, their feelings for each other grew. Tyler had nightmares from the night his parents died in a fire and from his grandfather abandoning him. I enjoyed Kate & Tyler friendship as it grew.
