From the start, the reader will feel welcome. The work of an experienced author is published by a company of international standing. In addition, the book is presented in the "For Dummies" style which ensures that the reader has both a structure and an easily understood way of assimilating the knowledge.

An analysis of the index, and the detail in the chapters consulted at random, encourages the reader to accept that the approach is "tailor made", and not some "off the peg" catch all package. By using Discipline and Focus the reader may follow a clear pathway to investigate the routine questions of who, what, where, when and how. As a long- term sufferer from Peripheral Neuropathy and the associated difficulties of pain and a lack of dexterity, I was keen to examine questions of Gratitude and Achievement, without falling into the temptation of self-sabotage (Chapters 9 and 12). In this book your approach is paramount and the level of therapy is clear (Chapters 2 and 8). The healing is in the doing. Nevertheless, there are a couple of areas where I might have welcomed direct attention, "Insomnia as well as Keep Fit" - body as well as mind. Readers will conclude that the concept of Focus - fresh, original, clear, useful and sincere, to stand alongside the traditional concept of Smart.

I didn't finish the whole thing. It wasn't really what I was looking for. There are some very practical ideas here, but it felt kind of self-helpy in a way that was off-putting.

The book covers more of what I understand journaling to be. But this author covers different ways to use a journal - for reflection, for dealing with grief and pain, for gratitude, for getting organized. It offers tips and prompts. There are spaces for trying out different ways of writing. It has some suggestions for establishing a routine. Worth it if you are new to the practice or are interested in changing your current approach.

This book is so packed full of helpful information that I can see myself using it as a reference book for years to come. I think it would make a great resource for people who want to start a habit of journaling or expand their existing journaling practices. It includes many practical activities, along with space for responses, and all of the suggestions given really take into account the individual needs and desires of the reader . Plus, the whole book can be read in order, or you can just start at the chapter that best suits your needs and interests in the moment.

I was especially impressed by the depth and breadth of information in this book. It covers how to successfully set up and maintain a journaling habit, whether digitally or on paper, and explores popular journaling techniques, such as Mindful Journaling, Bullet Journaling, and Creative Journaling. It also covers topics such as improving relationships, overcoming trauma, grief, and guilt, achieving success, and unleashing your creativity through journaling, plus much more.
