I moved to Howling Cove to get out from under the oppressive thumbs of the alphas that run the city I grew up in. Although Howling Cove only has a population of 11,000, I thought I should be able to blend right in as any other basic beta might. I find an apartment with a quirky ghost that overlooks the cove the town was named for and a job at a souvenir shop that hypes up the haunting lore of the cove to tourists.

Just as I’m finally feeling the freedom and peace I so desperately sought, I somehow catch the eye of the alpha pack. And although I think I can get away without much trouble and return to my anonymity, it's their omega that stops me in my tracks when he gives me those big brown eyes and insists that I join their pack.

As I’m struggling to deny him, something is wrong at the cove. Something that’s ending in visitors coming out looking like they’ve been petrified, like vegetables, like something has broken their minds. Nobody can figure out what’s happening - but I think the ghost I live with might have some answers.

This is a polyamorous story with content not suitable for those under 18 years of age due to graphic content.

Crea lives in upstate New York with her dog and husband. She has been writing since grade school, when her second grade teacher had her class keep writing journals. She has a habit of creating secondary, and often time tertiary, characters that take over her stories. When she can't fall asleep at night, she thinks up new scenes for her characters to act out. This, of course, is how most of her meant-to-be-thrown-away characters tend to end up front and center - and utterly swoon-worthy! Don't ask her how many book boyfriends she has...

When not writing, Crea is an avid reader. Her TBR pile is several hundred books high (don't even look at her kindle wish list or the unread books on her tablet). Sometimes, she enjoys crafting; sometimes, exploring nature; sometimes, traveling. Mostly, she enjoys putting her characters on paper and breathing life into them. Oh, and sleeping. Crea loves to sleep!

There is a lot about this book that isn't good: poor writing, poor world-building, poor pacing, and a nice dose of racism to top it all off. (Plus, a shocking amount of right-wing politics implied in this polyamorous m/m omegaverse book.)

These issues are all apparent within the first 8% of the book. It becomes quickly apparent that this isn't so much a slow burn as it is a fluff project. Everything must be explained in the last minute detail, from city populations, to how the MC makes her salad (and what goes in it), to the components of a cash register. Just paragraphs of useless information that should have been a few sentences at most. This fluff/exposition drop isn't even presented in a particularly interesting way. The writing is flat, monotonous word vomit. It's so bad that when an actual GHOST is introduced -within the first three chapters- the scene reads so incredibly lackluster and dull that I thought the MC was being tricked or seeing things. The MC barely even reacts to this ghost covered in blood. The ghost may as well have been a stranger on the street.

The author's dedication to detail also really hurts her world-building. You have to turn off your brain while reading because the circumstances don't make sense. The MC is escaping this city of thousands ruled by alphas, but how was this allowed in the first place? Why is her city allowed to essentially run a micro-dictatorship? How is it completely unknown to the surrounding area? Is it a special phenomenon, and if so why isn't that being commented on by other characters? How can they possibly keep this a secret if things like the internet, and social media presumably, are available? There's a cop character (who's a love interest), that goes on and on about the law and justice, but this kind of stuff is just allowed? If most of the inhabitants are betas why are they allowing this sort of control to occur? I DNF'd about 2/3rds of the way in, and these questions remained unanswered.

I could have pushed through all these issues, but Sam was the last straw. He appears early on and is presented as this crazy native character who hates modernization and all the town inhabitants as a consequence. I couldn't believe that a book in 2023 would have such a caricature of indigenous people, so I simply assumed that it would be revealed that he was some sort of big bad who faked his indigeneity and read on. Nope, he's just a "kooky native" (direct quote) that is written purely to mock the concept of natives who don't like what tourism has done to their lands. And of course, since he's native, he HAS to have a mystical component to him, "ranting" of ancestors and warning that "one day, the spirits will take revenge on you people." He's described as "just an angry man who thinks that modern society is devil magic" and all the characters mock him for not agreeing with their clearly superior modern ways. (This is sarcasm, by the way).

Will not be reading anything by this author again.

An Omegaverse, wrapped in a mystery and entwined with a ghost story. I was hook from chapter 1. The writing shows beautiful details interwoven great story telling. 2 of the main characters, including the female main character, have tragic backstories that can be triggering, especially if you are sensitive to SA. I read this in one sitting and was sad that it was over. I definitely recommend this if you enjoy the Alpha/Beta/Omega dynamic.

2.5 Stars but I have some gripes

Warning: this is probably a spoilery review. Please skip if you don't want spoilers.

Overall I did like this book. I would recommend for someone looking for Omegaverse that is more on the sweet side that contains Lola vibes (iykyk) without being a carbon copy of Lola. This book also contains plentiful MM so if that isn't your jam then you should skip this one.

On to my gripes/(long) rants:

I’m normally a little jaded when approaching omegaverse stories. A lot of them are handled in a way I don’t enjoy, but that’s certainly not the case with this one. I fell in love with this world and these characters from the moment they stepped onto the page. I was quickly invested in not only seeing Katiya and her pack get their Happy Ever Afters, but also solving the mystery that had suddenly sprung up in Howling Cove. In fact, I’m so enamored with this world that I’m hoping the author’s tease to come back and visit it again in the future becomes a reality.
I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.

RHR Bingo ball number 5.

I liked the ghosts. Reed and Katiya were sweet at the start and it did feel like it was their book with Gideon jumping up and down waving his hands to point out he was there. Chaingate was awful and I hope it gets taken down at some point. I didn't like that they started off a relationship on a lie. Not only that he was an alpha, but that he came with a pack. It felt a little like cheating. Katiya's reaction was understandable, but after that it got a bit me me me and she got annoying. The fact that she got his past before forgiving him, felt a bit like pity. I did like that they sorted out their relationship and started again, but then he pretty much got shunted into the background.

Cohen, Anson and Felix felt like a package deal. Felix got a little alone time, but they didn't stand out as much as Reed, Gideon or Tris. They might as well have been called Jameson 1, 2 and 3. Tris was my favorite pack member. He was down to earth, protective and had a dark edge. Given how many cold cases he'd written about, the fact that they didn't agree with him about the culprit was a little bizarre. Not sure I agree with the whole book thing. Nothing like putting your boyfriend's trauma out there. New girlfriend gets a whole potential series about Chaingate trauma. It felt a little...eh.

Sam is owed an apology. I know he was supposed to be a potential red herring or whatever. It was still small town opinionated. As long as everyone fit in their bubble, nothing or no one else mattered. It was a little double standard. It was mentioned in the afterword about Scooby doo, so I do understand why it was done. Still. The culprit was predictable and it did end up a bit meddling kids with more violence. Sweet omegaverse, hurt comfort with a supernatural mystery touch.

DNF @ 55%.

The prose itself would've been okayish if it had been edited or even just run through autocrit. My biggest issue was the constant random tense changes. Even within the same sentence. Possibly the worst I've ever seen, and that's impressive.

The story/town history/mysteries are incredibly uninteresting. And there's soooo many useless details including ones that don't make sense.

Worst of all? This is NOT a sweet omegaverse. There's an enormous power imbalance that they don't hesitate to exploit, and when the pack horribly wrongs the protagonist, none of them actually feel bad! They just make plans to manipulate her into accepting them because she's theirs whether she likes it or not. It's fucking gross, frankly, and I wish they cared about anything other than fucking. Maybe if you blended them all up you'd almost have one whole personality.

It doesn't help that FMC isn't nearly as upset as she should be, especially given how traumatized she's supposed to be, but that would've been inconvenient!

Add to that the uhhhh interesting choice of crazed indigenous caricature, and the whole thing was a flaming dumpster fire I wish I quit sooner.

Girl. I got questions.

1. Are we not going to get any real explanation to the Chaingate city that the FMC escaped from? I was.... so confused. To say the least. This city is said to be fairly large with a population of thousands. It's an awful city where betas and omegas are treated like cattle and there is NO leaving the city. It's not allowed. But it would appear that this city is not the norm, and so I can't help but wonder how this flies? Like... How does this city exist in this world? It's not properly explained so it just doesn't make sense.

2. I was also so confused about the ghost stuff. The author's note at the start of the book CLARIFIES that this is NOT a paranormal book. "Although this isn't paranormal any more than our world can be considered paranormal, there is the presence of a ghost in this story. A ghost like you might encounter in some of the most haunted places around our world." (pg. 6)
Umm.... Miss ma'am? Idk how to tell you this, but in OUR world ghosts are considered paranormal. And in fiction, a book with ghosts would also be considered paranormal. I just found this to be confusing to note at the start of the book, because it made me question the FIRST ghost we meet initially, unsure if it was really a ghost or if our FMC was imagining things...

3. We get a character in this book that feels a little racist. Or like.... a lot racist?
"The man turned to look at us, and I was relieved to find that he was a beta. A beta with a strange scent that made me fight not to cough. 'It's sacred land that you savages have destroyed,' he snapped. . . . 'Just wait. The day is coming. Nature will take back what you've polluted.'
. . .
'He's an ancestor of one of the older indigenous peoples who lived in the area?' I asked
'So he says. No one really knows for sure, but he claims that his blood is pure old world. It's difficult to accept really, since there hasn't been a group of people in all of modern history claiming indigenous status here.' " (pg. 59,60)

Sam is made out to be sort of incoherent and not mentally stable, berating the citizens of the town constantly and making people uncomfortable. He is also the only character in this story that appears to be indigenous to this area. They end up suspecting him of the murders for no reason other than that they say he's unhinged, and consistently talk down to him and insult him when he's not there. So the optics here? Not good.

4. This book was SO slow. We get so much unnecessary detail about things that don't matter, and don't really add to the story overall. We get these details that don't add to the story even a little bit, like with the cash register.
"Lana had dragged out a third cash register that they usually kept in the back. It was rarely used and took two hours to update before it was operable." (pg. 246,247) This quote about the cash register is thrown in the middle of a section where it doesn't belong! Immediately before we're talking about all the influx of Alphas, and how they must be hanging around because of Gideon's perfume. Immediately after we talk about Alphas that come in and make our FMC feel uncomfortable. So these two sentences about the cash register? Why are they here???
We get PAGES & PAGES of paragraphs from history books detailing the town's history. I'm talking PAGES. It was too much and I ended up having to skim through these.

5. Speaking of racism AND the sections of history on the cove, we get a lot of colonization happening and it's... very odd. Because the perspective in this story almost makes it seem like the colonization was necessary and people are happier now and 'it was a good thing, I swear!'

6. The Scooby Doo mystery was honestly insane. Not only is the villain obvious from the get-go, but the way in which he commits his murders is insane. Some sort of AI robot that helps him? The ghosts that show up in the end to save our FMC and her pack? WHAT THE HELL is going on here???? You can find me over here in the corner, confused.

7. Every good relationship is built on lies and manipulation, right? Oh wait. No, that doesn't sound right at all, actually. But that's what happens. The pack manipulates the FMC by not coming clean about Reed, and allowing him to pretend he's a beta with the FMC. They also manipulate her by constantly finding ways to be around her and enter her space, under the guise that they're not doing that at all. It's weird and predatory, especially for an FMC that's escaped a traumatic environment.

8. THE CLOSET. THE GODFORSAKEN CLOSET AT THE CHAINGATE CITY. We get multiple mentions of this closet and what happened in this closet in the FMC's inner monologues throughout the book.
"They meant bad news no matter where they let the sound out. In the streets. In the classroom. While they were trapping you in a closet." (pg. 90)
"I paused, remembering being dragged into a closet by an alpha." (pg. 152,153)
"That was after the first time an alpha trapped me in a closet." (pg. 156)
"I was busy concentrating on convincing the voices in my head that you weren't leading me into a closet." (pg. 306)
"These activities were kept behind closed doors. Such as closet doors. I remembered the closet well." (pg. 385)

We never find out what happened. She doesn't tell us in her inner monologues. She doesn't tell the pack. Does she just get locked in one? Is she assaulted in one? We'll never know!

I WILL say that I read the first book in this series, and I was NOT a fan. The beta in that book is, once again, a woman. She is sort of ignored or forgotten about in multiple ways throughout that story, and it didn't sit well with me that the ONLY beta and the ONLY female character was written this way. Gives off some misogynistic vibes, ya know? I mentioned so in my review. I am happy to see that this is not the case with the second book, so... Woohoo! Small wins, I suppose.

Anyway... Wouldn't recommend, babyyyyy. 1/5 stars.

Beta Katiya (FMC) is on the run from Chaingate a city full of abusive Alphas. She ends up in Healing Cove a place where Betas, Omegas and Alphas live together peacefully. I loved Katiya's character she was sweet and even though she was a bit haunted by her past she was still trying to open herself up to new experiences. Especially with Omega - Gideon (who was a great character and i loved him) but also the Alphas. An interesting take on the RH omegaverse with likable characters and some steamy scenarios. I enjoyed reading it

I wanted to like this, and I sort of did, but….

This author is guilty of something I’m sure we’ve all been told off for in English classes, telling instead of showing.

The plot is interesting and I like the main character, but It’s like the author introduces what’s happening, skips it, and tells you what you missed.

I’m being told that x guy looked at her with reverence and was great all night, but how do I know that? I didn’t get to see any of that, she skipped right over what was an important introduction.

Honestly it makes the book hard to follow and not that worth it. I’m trying so hard to get into the story but it’s hard when it’s like watching recaps on netflix instead of the actual show.

I received a free copy of this book from the author.

First, let me say, this is not a paranormal series that is typically looked at as a werewolf society. This book, while part of a series, is a complete standalone novel.  You won't be behind if you start here though as usual I'd say start at the beginning!

Our heroine, Katiya, flee's from her hometown to get away from the society the alpha's had created there.  As the story progresses we find out how abusive and controlling those alphas are. She finds herself in a beautiful little town called Howling Cove on the opposite coast from where she grew up.

Howling Cove has a few settled alpha families and Katiya does her best to stay under the radar where they're concerned. Katiya settles into the town and starts making friends. She's skittish though and doesn't let anyone in at the start. She realizes her house is haunted and the ghost that resides there seems to be quite friendly.

Katiya's fear of alphas is deep rooted so when she does run across them in town or at her job she cowers. It's really quite pitiful.  The townspeople do try to help but it isn't until an omega enters the picture that she gets an idea of how a real alpha relationship is supposed to work.

There's a few things missing in this story. I liked the characters but some of the subplot I thought would show up never did. There's a lot going on in this book so you will have to pay attention as you read or you might mix up your characters!  I would say if you're looking for something to read in an Omegaverse give this series a try.  The characters are definitely sweet and knotty.

For me this book is 3.5 stars.

The book is not bad for per se, but compared to other books from the same author, I felt like it was missing something. Katiya, our main character, has escaped her city dominated by alpha. As a beta she doesn't have much power, so she wants just to live in peace without attracting the attention of alphas. However, in her new city, she attracts the attention of an omega and thus of his alpha pack. If that wasn't enough, someone is out to get the people of the city, and she needs to stop the culprit.

I liked the love story, and how Katiya and the guys are together (I'm especially talking about Gideon), but the alphas weren't too bad either. What I didn't like was that for me the narration was highly descriptive, so at times I would lose track of the action as everything was being described in details.

A slow burn romance. A enjoyed reading this, but will say the way the one indigenous character is talked about and written is highly uncomfortable and honestly unneeded. He is "kooky" and annoying by telling people about the heritage of the land and how they have ruined a sacred place to his people. Everyone is all "oh that's just Sam again, the kooky indigenous beta" and no one takes him seriously. Absolutely horrible. TBH, if I hadn't enjoyed the first book so much I probably would have dnf'd this one just for poor Sam.
Then for a book which was author listed 3 times in her note is not paranormal the way everyone reacted to Katiya's mention of the ghost in her house including her own when she first meets the ghost is lackluster and dull. There are multiple ghosts, tunnels that open and close on their own (oh and let's thank the spirits for letting us out), and a few other details which aren't regular every day things and no one bats an eye. No one thinks she is hallucinating? No one is concerned about how people get oxygen when in closed off tunnels?

Then I had a problem with Chaingate. How does it exist? Is there no government oversight? They mention that this is all one country, so there has to be a government besides town mayors, therefore why is the West Coast so entrenched in violence, slavery, and holding cities hostage? Also, I'd love to know how exactly Kat escaped and no one else is able to.

All this to say, thinking about this book after the fact makes all these things come to light and I'm really wishing I hadn't sat down to write a review. I've dropped my rating from a 3.5 to a 2.5.
I did enjoy reading this book. It is light...ish because there is mention of all the trauma Kat and Reed endured, but it is a great escape novel when you want to turn your brain off. It's about healing... through manipulation and exposure... *sigh* yeah I need to stop thinking about this book. I'm ruining it for myself.

Honestly? Fit exactly what I was looking for and what I needed. I may read the next, but I think it'll really depend on how ick I still feel about... everything.

My love for Crea Reitan's writing and my love for omegaverse stories have collided. Crea has written her second omegaverse book (apparently I have some catching up to do), Knot Interested and it was awesome sauce. I loved Crea's take on the ABO world.

Katiya was great. She's a beta who's kind, funny, and smart, I loved her ideas for the fall festivities, Kat would be a fantastic event planner. However, she's a little gunshy around alphas and I don't blame her, after growing up in a town ruled by cruel alphas who do horrific things to anyone and everyone I'm not surprised that her fear has been ingrained into her. After escaping, she's enjoying her freedom, and while hard, she slowly starts to overcome her fear of alphas.

That's where the Jameson pack comes in with five alphas and one male omega. The guys fall first and fall hard. Instinct kicks in right away, and the guys know Kat is all o of theirs. All of them are most definitely the growly and possessive type but are super considerate of Kat and her fears, but they also aren't willing to let her go, they slowly try to help her get over her fear. This was my first book that had a male omega as a main character and it was very interesting, especially with an omega who accepts what he is. Gideon was just so freaking adorable. I love the way he cares for Kat, heck I love the way all the guys care for Kat, even though she's a beta she's treated just as precious as an omega would be.

Only Crea can take a non-paranormal omegaverse and turn it into an unbelievably detailed and credible ghost story. There are articles, detailed accounts, and hauntings, the story is rich in culture and has detailed history. It was compelling and incorporated into the story very well. A sleepy coastal town with little crime where everyone, from betas to alphas to omegas, lives in peace. A place that loves its history and quite a history it is because this wasn't always a sleepy little town. Alphas were running lose, pirates with buried treasure, and more than a few unsolved murders. This was some seriously good stuff. However, this sleepy little town isn't sleepy anymore the town is flooded with tourists for the fall festivities and weird things start happening in the town caves, giving this ghost story a mysterious twist.

Knot Interested was absolutely compelling, how could it not be with Crea stating for a fact that this book wasn't paranormal but with the spooky backdrop, crazy detailed history, and all the weird things what else am I supposed to think? There are ghosts! Crea seems to have a tendency of telling a few stories in the background of the main story she's telling. While Kat and the guys are not supernatural, the background story of Howling Cove most definitely seems to be. That crazy complex combination of multiple things going on at once is one of the reasons I loved this story and Crea's writing in general. Just when I think I know what's happening, Crea surprises me. I look forward to everything Crea writes but I'm especially excited for her next omegaverse.

Harem- Katiya, Gideon, Anson, Cohen, Felix, Reed and Tristen

Book starts with our beta FML Katiya or Kat, who has just escaped from the city called Chaingate and arrived in Howling Cove. Chaingate is an awful place where the Alphas rule and take what they want, when they want, damn the consequences. From an early age, Kat has learned to fear Alphas and to not draw their attention. During the book, she does mention that one of those bad Alphas rapes her in a closet. She never outright tells the guys this but I think they know after she make a comment about closets. Reed also mentions he was held hostage and was repeatedly abused and raped. Well, Anson(I think) tells her about Reed’s past with Reed’s permission.

Kat starts her job at a gift shop a couple days after arriving in Howling Cove and makes new friends with the betas that work there. Not gonna lie, I thought her and Linus were gonna have a thing for a minute lol Kat desperately tries to avoid all Alphas but soon learns she won’t be able to as her boss’s are alphas and their omega (and them)has taken an interest in her.

I seriously adored Kat and all the guys. My heart breaks for Reed and his tragic backstory. The way they cared for her and tried so hard to not scare her and stay within her line of comfort was so sweet. I couldn’t even tell you who my favorite guy was. This is definitely a sweet omegaverse, all the guys are instantly attracted to her and want to be with her.

I really liked the whole ghost thing and mystery of the caves. I just didn’t like that they were so casual about there being ghosts when they never believed they were real. Like Kat sees Octavia (the omega ghost) in her house, screams and then is all ‘oh ok cool hi’ and moves on like they are BFFs. Then she casually mentions the ghost to the other guys and they don’t blink an eye. Sorry, but if someone came up to me and told me they have a ghost in their house who they have conversations with, I’d think they lost all their marbles. I also felt like the Sam storyline (crazy old guy) was unnecessary. He had no affect on the story so not sure why he was put in, other then for alittle bit of drama. I did catch myself skimming over all the ‘facts’ as I just didn’t care to read them, there was just too many

Would have liked to have seen her actually bond with all the guys; it was not on page. Also, the part where she tells the guys that the ghosts told her where the treasure is, but didn’t tell the guys. Said that the ghosts family member has to figure it out. I’m assuming there will be another book (not about this harem) where this gets solved? I’d like to see that since I enjoyed this town and am not ready to let it go lol

She did it again! Crea Reitan is not without reason one of my favorite authors. I read everything of her. As long as it is finished, that is. Or there is no real cliffy etc. and I can leave the story as it is and revisit it, when the next book is there, without big trouble. But mostly I like to read a story in one go, so that I don't forget anything and get the full impression at once and not in bits and pieces.

So, I love her Omegaverse. This one is a story about a beta, who stays a beta and is traumatized by alphas and bad experiences in her past. Inspired by Kathryn Moon's Lola & the Millionaires, which is mentioned at the end and clearly recognizable, but by no means a copy and still unique. And furthermore, a fantastic read. I totally agree with Crea, that betas needs more love as well. They are rarely main characters, even though they make up the majority of the (Omegaverse) world population. But it's a theme that is presented more and more. So, I totally support it.

I'm not much into Scooby Doo and anything, but I like a good mystery, no less. It was a compelling and exciting story beside the romance and growth aspect of the characters and the plot in general.

I loved it. The characters were great, too. Katiya, our beta heroine, fierce and determined to live her life, while coming to terms with her newfound freedom and past. And finding love. From all the guys, Tristen was probably my favorite. But as it is, I often find myself intrigued by the darker characters with more psychotic tendencies. Or the more elusive/mysterious guys. But in the whole, I loved each one of them. Anson with his wilder/aggressive, less patience personality (though, he was very patient with Kat). Cohen, a steady and patience presence – like a gentleman. Felix, the protector and zen of the pack. Reed, the most quiet one of the alphas, due to his own demons, but still so strong. And then there is Gideon. The upbeat and cheery omega of the pack.

They all fit perfectly together. No question. And yeah, the Lola & the Millionaires vibe is big in that they all help each other. Especially in the way the pack helps Katiya with her trauma, as well as Reed.

And between all the stuff going on, ghosts and mysteries. I like paranormal content and how the story has twists and turns, I didn't predict easily.

Some minor complaint: Even at the end, there were questions open. I refer to the knowledge Katiya gained from the ghosts. And I wanted to see how she got her bites from the other alphas. Though, I that regard, I hope there will be bonus content at some point (part of her patreon group).

But overall, it's great.

I can't wait to see, what the next book is about. Chaingate? Or another city? There are a lot of possibilities. That's for sure.

The book is set in the Omegaverse, and my understanding of that universe is it’s a normal world, but it’s made up of Alpha’s, Beta’s and Omega’s.
The Alphas are the dominants, the Beta’s can be sort of dominant and the Omega is the weakest of the bunch, the Omega’s are prized above all others and need care and attention.

But Katiya doesn’t belong to a city that cherish their Omega’s, they are tools or pawns to use and abuse, even Beta’s don’t fair that well. So Katiya needs to escape from that world…..

Moving to Howling Cove seems like a dream, it’s a great place to live, and with a job she loves, Katiya begins to breath again, but she’s aware Alphas live in the community, it’s only a matter of time before she’s made to live in a pack (and that’s her worst fear!)

I liked that the omega wasn’t the FMC it made it different to most other omegaverse books.
It’s also great that the pack is already established and not looking for another member.

The pack consists of males, and they are happy with the dynamic. The Center of their world is their Omega Gideon. There isn’t much they won’t do to keep him happy, so when the alphas notice Katiya, it will take patience and Gideon to convince her that not all Alpha’s are nasty!

I like that there is a mystery within the Cove as well as the love aspect.
People are claiming to see a monster that prowls the caves that surround Howling. And when people turn up injured, the pack will need the whole community to pull together to solve the mystery.

Luckily the ghost that Katiya lives with has some answers! (Oh did I forget to mention there is a ghost that talks to Katiya) 😉

It’s a great story, and I’ve read a few Omegaverse stories by different authors, this has to be my favourite so far.
Written really well, it’s told from the character’s points of view (not always my favourite way of telling stories) and although it’s told from their points of view, you don’t get muddled up (I think it helps that each chapter is given to a specific character)

So if you like read about the Omegaverse, I’d highly recommend you grab this and give it a try.

This series so far has showcased some pretty interesting characters and how they deal with heartbreak and trauma. Whereas the first book focused on loss and creating a new life with a new pack, this one focuses on trauma and how it can affect how you live your life after escaping it. The fmc, Katiya, grew up in Chaingate where Alphas ruled, Betas were used as toys or breeding mules, and Omegas weren't as cherished as they should be. Because of this, she's severely traumatized by Alphas, which you slowly see her overcome as this story progresses. I really enjoyed the amount of patience the Alphas had with Katiya and how they tried their hardest to be seen as a safe place for her. They never pushed, never forced a bark on her, even by accident, and went at the pace she set. Katiya's trauma wasn't the only one touched on in this book either and I'm not going into that, but it did bring an interesting perspective and addition to the story.

On top of the relationship storyline, we also got a little bit of murder mystery added as well. I liked seeing the build up of this and how all of the information was revealed. It gave the story some extra pizzazz and kept us on our toes while reading.

Although I loved the book, I do wish we would have seen a bit more of relationship building with some of the characters as a few of them didn't get as much screen time with Katiya as some of the others did. I would have also loved to see more with the claiming and how each guy decided to do it, although I am glad that Katiya got to the point of wanting that with her group of guys.

If Crea does decide to go through with what she said in the acknowledgements, I'd love to see a book dealing with Chaingate, either how it is currently (maybe a secret healthy relationship between an alpha and omega) or how the Alphas, Omegas, and Betas there were affected once people were made aware of what they were doing there. I think it would be really interesting to see the aftermath of it all.

Thrilling Omegaverse Mystery…

When Katiya escaped her hometown of Chaingate, she chose to drive to the other side of the country to get away from the city of torment and abuse by the Alphas in control there.
She chose Howling Cove after researching the beautiful town. Hardly any alphas, crime or hint of abuse towards betas. Little did she know that this town had secrets of its own and she would step right into the center of a mystery.

She found a place to live and a job, this was her first taste of freedom but she was still looking over her shoulder for an alpha from home to show up to take her back. She was terrified of alphas with good reason.

When alphas Felix, Anson and Cohen meet Kat for the first time they are instantly aware that the beta belongs with them in their pack of two other alphas Reed, Tristian and one male omega Gideon. They scent her fear and have to back off with their growly possessiveness. They just want to hold her and make her feel safe. These alphas learn patience and dedication while trying to woo her into their pack five alphas and one sassy spoiled male omega.

The town has a rich history and the author has done an amazing job at world building. I was blown away by all the detail that made up this towns backstory.
The story flowed seamlessly from current day into the reading of the towns history by Kat. This has a touch of the paranormal but it doesn’t overtake the plot.
There is a town mystery to solve and it is written so well in this book. It’s incorporated into Kats life and it builds up until the finale.

The only thing I would like to have is an epilogue showing where this pack lands further into the future. Plus there were still questions needing answered. Where it ended to me just fell short of a five star read.

Knot Interested by Crea Reitan is part of the Knotty & Sweet Omegaverse and was a delightful unique twist on the traditional omegaverse story and did not disappoint! Reitan did an amazing job creating a jam packed story full of danger and mystery with a captivating plot that didn’t want to let you go.

After growing up in a community where alphas rule with a heavy hand and abuse their betas and omegas rather than cherishing them, our extremely gun-shy and abused beta heroine Katiya is finally out on her own, free of the oppression, and settling into a new home in the small town of Howling Cove—even though she of course still has anxiety about being around alphas. Which of course she soon finds plenty of in her new hometown…sexy dominating ones she can’t seem to stop being drawn too—especially their Omega Gideon.

And while she may be anxious and nervous, the Jameson pack immediately recognizes Katiya as their fated beta and will do anything to keep her. Even if it’s taking things slow and helping her overcome past traumas and fear. I loved how the guys weren’t afraid to put Kat’s needs first and how sweet and patient they were with her.

I absolutely love how Reitan beautifully details the range of emotions and feelings Kat is dealing with after years and years of trauma and abuse as well as how she navigates new interactions with the new fierce and intimidating alpha males in her life. Watching Kat slowly overcome her past traumas, take control of her emotions and life, was absolutely beautiful.

If you love diverse omegaverse polyamorous and super steamy romances with characters that grow and evolve throughout the story, taking you on an emotional ride, this is the one for you!

I really could not put this book down and would have read it in one go if I could have survived without sleep.

So this is an omegaverse, but is also so much more, there is a town mystery to solve, loads of world building and tons of history for the town and then, of course, Katiya and the alphas.

Katiya has arrived in Howling Cove having escaped Chaingate, a city where alphas rule with an iron fist and everyone else hides to avoid their attention. She is petrified of alphas and avoids them at all costs, but she can't avoid the Jameson Pack for long, especially when their pack omega takes an interest in her.

This story was so sweet, the alphas's really tried so hard to help with Kat's fear of them, and show her that she had nothing to fear, but thats easier said than done. Then we have Reed's history to add to the mix, that really did pull at the heartstrings. Gideon was great fun, and brought a lighthearted element to the pack.

I loved the world building in this book, not just the omegaverse, but the amount of work that has gone into creating this town and all the history is huge, it really pulled me into the story as you learn about all the different folklores and unsolved mysteries. We also have all the modern day activities - this book really did pack a huge amount in.

Even though this is a standalone, it does not feel rushed at any point, the relationships grow at a comfortable pace, and you get to know each character really well. Not everything is geared towards Katiya, the guys already have an established relationship so expect some very steamy MM too.

Katiya Chapel is a skittish and abused beta settling into the small town of Howling Cove after escaping her hometown prison in Chaingate. She is cautiously optimistic about being on the opposite side of the country and beginning a new life. She moves into a fully furnished home, begins her new job, and even connects with a few people she can call friends. I really loved Katiya’s spirit — she was clearly a fighter with years of trauma that made my heart break for her. The author did an incredible job describing Kat’s reactions to meeting intimidating alpha men and I felt everything she felt.

The Jameson pack recognizes Katiya as their fated beta and are self-aware enough to know she is a broken soul. Felix, Anson, Tristen, Reed, Cohen, and Gideon feel a strong connection to Katiya but they allow her to establish their relationship at her own pace. The men were super sweet, patient, and gentle. They definitely put Kat’s feelings and needs above their own. This novel was also heavy in plot that was filled with mystery, danger, and lore. I loved all of the characters and there was a good balance between romance, steam, and the plot.

I would definitely be interested in a few more books in this series featuring the Jameson pack. I would love to read more about how their relationships develop. There is so much more to explore between Kat and her men that we didn’t get a chance to cover in this book. I’m hoping the author will give readers more!

This story scratched an Omegaverse itch that I didn’t realize I needed. I’m used to the sweet verse aspect where the focus is more on fishing the perfect omega which wasn’t the case here. Don’t get me wrong there were a lot of sweet moments but I enjoyed that this story was a bit darker and actually focused on needing a beta to complete the pack dynamic! This pack had to battle demons and deal with trauma. It wasn’t just easy fixes or finding a pack and having all your problems go away which I genuinely enjoyed!

I found this story to be almost like a murder mystery which had me hooked! I wish this was actually broken down into two books so the characters had more time together and to continue to develop their relationships but overall this was a great read! I loved the dynamic the guys built with Katiya especially with her being a beta. They focused on cherishing her and putting her needs first. It wasn’t easy for her to accept the pact coming from such a rough background but I loved the character development. The guys each brought a bit of a different personality to the pack and I loved their relationships with one another! I would definitely love an extended epilogue or holiday novella to follow up on the pack to see how they are doing and how much their pack dynamic has grown! Overall, I highly recommend giving it a read!

After 120 pages nothing happened!!! Nothing: she arrived at this town and started her job and saw 3 alphas once. Nothing more, I've seen in detail how someone opens the door, then passes, how many steps it took and how they sounded! And I've also read an instruction book of all the processes of working on a shop."

At 35% (of a 500 page book) I mad a note: "You know the blurb? It still hasn't happened!!!!"

At 60% I gave up. It was past half and my issue greatly includes the writing, so I'm rating.

As Lissa wrote: "It becomes quickly apparent that this isn't so much a slow burn as it is a fluff project. Everything must be explained in the last minute detail, from city populations, to how the MC makes her salad (and what goes in it), to the components of a cash register. Just paragraphs of useless information that should have been a few sentences at most. This fluff/exposition drop isn't even presented in a particularly interesting way."

This book is boring, there are plot holes and the writing is atrocious. So so so bad.
WORSE: the author gave us a note of at least two pages explaining what she likes and dislikes and what to expect etc. That was well written. So bad the book isn't.

I was suffering every time I thought I had this book to finish. Done. Finished early.

Oh my GOSH! I think this is my third book from Crea and I was so excited to read this story! I love Omegaverse stories and this one was an amazing story! If you like omegaverse you need to read this story!

The characters were next-level amazing, and I like that our FMC was a beta, and the alphas she meets want her. She is terrified of alphas though, so this could throw a wrench in their plan. I LOVE that these alphas do one very un-alpha thing... and take their time with her. They're patient and they know if they push, push, and push they could push her right out of their lives.

Also, the way that Crea fits all of the amazing things in a standalone?! Usually with a standalone sometimes parts of the relationship can be rushed. But it wasn't. Also, with the trauma she suffered in the past, there wasn't a magical fix. You know what kind of 'fix' I'm talking about 😉.

Besides all of the regular omegaverse happenings, we get the chemistry 🌶, pack-loving, healing, and emotional support, there's a bit of mystery. It was just an overall amazing book! I wouldn't mind a second book or a short follow-up of this amazing pack.

Definitely check out this book if you're an OV lover!

Well-written poly romance with some mystery and paranormal elements. Our heroine, a female beta named Katiya, just escaped from her truly awful dystopian birth city and is beginning a new life in Howling Cove. The MMCs are a pack of 5 male alphas and one male omega. Katiya has (undiagnosed) PTSD from her previous city and is terrified of all alphas. It's insta-love/lust from the MMCs, but they recognize her fears and go super slow in courting her. Meanwhile, Katiya excels at her job in a tourist shop and organizes several events based on Howling Cove's history. Shocking to no one, the pack's sweet and slow approach wins her trust and they all live HEA.

I appreciated that at no point did smexiness take over the plot, even after Katiya moves in to their house. Too many ABO novels drop basically drop the plot after the omega (or in this case, beta) agrees to a relationship, so I was pleased that the mystery and job plots continued.

Other notes: This a loooong read, but worth it. Wish there had been an epilogue.

TW: FMC and a MMC are survivors of past SAs that are briefly described. Mention of murders (several historical and some present day), martial r*pe (historical & FMC's former city), torture (both), and ritual human sacrifice (both).
