Christy-Award winner Angela Hunt writes for readers who have learned to expect the unexpected in novels from this versatile author. With nearly six million copies of her books sold worldwide, she is the best-selling author of more than 165 works ranging from picture books (The Tale of Three Trees) to novels.

Now that her two children are grown, Angie and her husband live in Florida with Very Big Dogs (a direct result of watching Turner and Hooch and Sandlot too many times). This affinity for mastiffs has not been without its rewards--one of their dogs was featured on Live with Regis and Kelly as the second-largest canine in America. Their dog received this dubious honor after an all-expenses-paid trip to Manhattan for the dog and the Hunts, complete with VIP air travel and a stretch limo in which they toured New York City.

Afterward, the dog gave out pawtographs at the airport.

Angela admits to being fascinated by animals, medicine, psychology, unexplained phenomena, and “just about everything” except sports. Books, she says, have always shaped her life— in the fifth grade she learned how to flirt from reading Gone with the Wind.

Her books have won the coveted Christy Award, several Angel Awards from Excellence in Media, and the Gold and Silver Medallions from Foreword Magazine’s Book of the Year Award. In 2007, her novel The Note was featured as a Christmas movie on the Hallmark channel. Romantic Times Book Club presented her with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006, and American Christian Fiction Writers bestowed the same award in 2019.

In 2006, Angela completed her Master of Biblical Studies in Theology degree and completed her second doctorate in 2015. When she’s not home reading or writing, Angie often travels to teach writing workshops at schools and writers’ conferences. And to talk about her dogs, of course.

That moment when you sit down in front of your bookcase determined to glean because you really have too many unread books and you don't need to hang on to all of them so you pull one of the shelf and start reading it assuming you'll be able to toss it aside but then you read it all that day and then you're frustrated with yourself for getting drawn into a cliche but romantic CFR novel in spite of yourself . . . #life.

I find it hard to summon words to describe a book that can be described only as blah. Cancer can definitely put a person through serious trials that determine a person's character. I witnessed that firsthand. I do not negate this fact by describing the book this way. The protagonists never really grew. I also found many of the male protagonist's actions disingenuous and difficult to believe given the incident from which he ran, the incident that provided his "conflict" for the story.
This book did not survive round two of the purge from my personal collection.

Angela Hunt knows how to write a story!! Breast cancer, lost romance, broken hearts and the Lord to bring the healing that is needed. It can't get much better. Two people who need a healing find themselves intertwined in each others lives to a point where if one leaves what will happen to the other?

Although I am not a Christian, I don’t mind books from a Christian perspective. But I almost stopped reading when the author was talking about obeying God’s purity laws against premarital sex. Good grief. Still, I pressed on because I was interested in the breast cancer plot line having been recently diagnosed myself. And yet, the hardened oncology nurse putting on a brave face theme never really felt genuine to me. Even less believable was the oncologist running from a secret past that turned out to be something a two minute explanation could have solved. Just silly.

One other thing - the oncologist mentions that he used to believe rabbits laid eggs until he learned that except for dodo birds, no mammals lay eggs. What? Dodo birds were BIRDS. Regular birds. Like pigeons. Flightless, yes, but still your standard egg-laying bird. I’m guessing the author was confused about monotremes - the duck-billed platypus and the echidna arein the small class of egg-laying mammals. This is an example of the kind of shoddy fact-checking that drives me nuts and utterly ruins a book for me. Or would have ruined it if I’d actually liked it to begin with.

love it

Since this is a very hard sensitive topic I wondered how Angela would handle it. As you can guess she did a great job. The myriad of emotions one would feel with this diagnosis is well described. The slow progress from denial,to acceptance is vivid. The love story is slow and erratic yet more true than real life at times.

In all ways this is a story of lost souls finding their way back to Christ through the crucible of pain. This more than anything else made the book.

A sad caring story about two educated people who lost their faith. As a cancer patient and nurse Jacquelyn has to pu her trust in others. A hard thing for her to do. And Dr. Martin is running from a past hurt. A hard to put down book.

A wonderful, very touching story of redemption and love in the midst of loss. I was deeply moved by this story, and I think it will stay with me a long time. Angela Hunt is a master of storytelling. I am thankful to her for writing this book and sharing her faith with her readers.

If reading about someone going through breast cancer or being falsely accused doesn't turn you off, this is a well-written novel dealing with both issues in a thoughtful way. Hunt has some good insights that I appreciated.

I really enjoyed A Time to Mend, and interestingly enough, it was the cover that really drew me. Even though I knew this wasn't a recent release the past covers had never really drawn me in. This is definitely a Christian novel, which doesn't seem to happen as much.

Best book that I've read this year

Scripture was appropriately relevant, and it was lived out by the people in the story. The storyteller was true to life and the characters felt real. Right from the beginning, the story took me in, and I didn't want it to end!

It seemed a little rushed and simplified in parts, like things happened a little too quickly or easily at times, but I really enjoyed the story.

I was drawn into this book and read it in one night. It is a touching romance that manages to deal with such issues as faith, breast cancer, and dealing with personal pain. But, this book is not a downer to read. There is one incident in the book that made me laugh so hard that I cried. My teenage daughter also read the book in one night and she also loves it. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to read a good romance with good values.

I was hesitant starting this book, knowing that the main character was going to have cancer. I was pleasantly surprised to find it an enjoyable, light read. It wasn't depressing or overly sad. There are moments, of course, but on the whole it was very uplifting.

A likeable read. It was not (as I had feared!) filled with cliches from start to finish; something that sadly is often found in romance, and especially Christian romance. A nice pool/sea-side/summer read.

Eye opening in the sense that it helped me understand a little bit more about the suffering and trauma breast cancer patients go through, but the love story aspect of the book was a little flat.
