Tutoring the Bad Boy

Rate this book
He needed a tutor, but never expected her to be the girl of his dreams.

Emma
I had been on the run for over a year. What my ex did to me, I never wanted to live through again. The last thing I needed was for anyone to recognize me and my ex finding me. Then I meet Ryan, who saved me from another black eye. But there's just one problem... his light shone too bright in my dark hiding place.

Ryan
After my ex-girlfriend cheated on me, I thought I'd never find love again. Then Daisy stood there clutching her eye because some jerk hit it. What could I do? I had to defend her. I had to protect her. I had to make her mine. But every time I got near, she ran. I'd even consider giving up being a shining star as a collegiate soccer player so she'd feel safe in my arms.

Awful

This book is like the cliff notes of an actual book. It jumps so fast and doesn't go in depth on anything. She never even actually tutors him. And how fast the fall for each other is laughable. They have know each other a week. Have talked to each other maybe a total of 20 min and already saying they live each other. Its insane.

This book is super anticlimactic. Guy text her and an hour later he is caught in a different state. And how he found her is completely ridiculous and not even believable.

The idea is there but its like the author didn't even try while writing this book. Thank goodness it was super short and a quick read.

Tutoring the Bad Boy de Josie Max serie Bad Boys on campus libro 1

Argumento:

A young adult novella about Emma, a studious girl constantly hiding from her stalker ex boyfriend and soccer jock, Ryan. They meet up when Ryan needs tutoring with Biology and he rescues Emma from a nasty situation on campus. This book draws attention to physical and mental abuse in relationships which is a topic that can be very hurtful for many. It was a quick, enjoyable read.

It was just bad. It reads like a first draft, nothing is explored at all, everything is surface level, and the “romance” is way too fast. Like they meet each other, talk for less than 5 minutes, and they’re eating each other’s faces. The next day they’re in love, of course, not having talked at all until he fingers her. Really, it made no sense.

Interesting

Excellent venue for alerting women to the fact that there is so much physical abuse from relationships and it needs to be reported immediately to the police! Its never a one time thing when it happens even if they say they're sorry!

Super quick read (about 1/2 hour), but it was fun. Would have liked it to be a full fledge novel with more depth to the characters, but it worked. Don't think they were "in love" after about 48 hours, but I could be wrong.

I got this book as part of the "Stuff Your Kindle Event".
"Tutoring the Bad Boy" follows Emma, a sweet, kind-hearted girl just trying to remain in one place long enough to make some friends, and Ryan, a boy who is jaded by love. Emma's ex has a violent past and will stop at nothing to find Emma and exact his revenge. Since they broke up, Emma has lived her life constantly looking over her shoulder and running whenever her ex gets close to finding her. All of that changed when she met Ryan. Finally, she met a guy who treats her right. But, Ryan's ex cheated on him and now he wants nothing to do with love. Is there a place for Emma and Ryan to give their chemistry a shot?
My biggest critique of this story, and the entire Bad Boys on Campus series, is that the stories are all super insta-lovey. I understand that sometimes when you meet someone you just fall in love immediately and it completely changes your life, but the insta-love in this story made their relationship feel inauthentic. When Ryan learns about Emma's ex, he becomes overprotective and territorial, which is sweet, but seems like a bit much for someone he just met. I did really enjoy seeing the lengths he went to ensure Emma's safety.
Each of these stories are around fifty pages, so insta-love is expected, but I feel like there are ways to approach their stories to make them feel more authentic. Can you really say I love you to someone so soon and truly understand the depths of what that means?
