Katie Winter #2
Reach Me
When a serial killer escapes and crosses the border into Canada, FBI Special Agent Katie Winter must team up with her Canadian counterpart to stop him before others die. But as secrets from her own past bubble up, Katie must also follow a lead for her own sister’s disappearance before it, too, goes cold.
FBI Special Agent Katie Winter is no stranger to frigid winters, isolation, and dangerous cases. With her sterling record of hunting down serial killers, she is a fast-rising star in the BAU, and Katie is the natural choice to partner with Canadian law enforcement to track the killer across the brutal and unforgiving landscape.
Yet Katie’s past haunts her, demanding her attention and dragging her down into a well of secrets. Will this killer take advantage of Katie’s weakness?
Can she stop him in time?
Or will he find her first?

Found this really boring ..
January 21, 2026

Katie and Leblanc do not trust each other which makes their partnership very difficult. Both avoid disclosing information about their past and those pasts may rise and overcome any rational thoughts involving the investigation they are facing in Reach Me. The plot has a lot of twists and turns and leads that reach nowhere. Will they be able to work their problems out and find the killer? This is a fast-paced story with two strong character FBI agents and a devilish killer providing a few hours of enjoyable entertainment!
As a member of the author's ARC team, I received a free copy of this book and this is my unbiased opinion.

This was a quick read with a decent enough pace. Unfortunately I didn’t really feel much for any of the characters. Most of the task force characters were little more than a name with very little contribution to the story. The two main law enforcement characters had a bit of background but their interaction didn’t feel natural. I also couldn’t get a good grasp of the timing. From the perspective of LeClerc and Winter it felt like a mere day or two for the entire story. However, the killer was travelling great distances within that amount of time.

Horrifying and shocking!
If you have a strong heart and you are not prone to getting nightmares, you should definitely read this book! Molly Black's suspense thrillers should be at the top of your TBR list if you love reading rather than experiencing the horrific reality that these things do happen.

Katie Winter, still haunted by her sister's disappearance and assumed death, hunts down an extremely dangerous serial killer who has escaped from prison. The killer/Dolan stalks men who look similar to himself, kills them, and uses their credentials to escape undetected. Katie is close a few times, but Dolan is always a few steps ahead. As clues continue to mount, Katie finally figures out what is motivating Dolan. Can she get ahead of him, or is she doomed to only reach his victims after he has killed them? Katie finally learns enough about Dolan's past to piece together who his final target is. Can she stop this vicious monster? or will she be his next victim?

"She's the only one I didn't kill"
Kinda weird how the murderer of this 2nd installment just somehow conveniently died, taken by the lake or something 😅. And what about that other serial killer that Katie thought killed her twin sister? What if her twin sister intentionally just wants get lost? 🤔
The plotline is starting to become interesting ~ with new developments on Katie's 'personal' case and her partner's confession of what happened why he left Paris, I am now excited at seeing where this series will go.

FBI Special Agent Katie Winter of the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit is working with Canadian Cross-Border Task Force Detective Leblanc to capture serial killer Carl Dolan who escaped from a maximum security prison in New York. Katie and Leblanc hunt for Dolan in Canada leaving dead bodies along the way. Katie and Leblanc try working together despite their differences. Katie follows leads of her twin sister Josie’s disappearance years ago which still haunts Katie. I really enjoyed this fabulous suspense thriller novel.

Actually couldn't stop once I had started. It kept my interest from start to finish. It's written with such description that I almost felt like I was there watching everything taking place.
Its written from the point of view of the murderer as well as the law enforcement officers, you always know what each side is planning to do whilst involved in the cat and mouse hunt.
I enjoyed it so much, it was finished in less than a day overall and now I want to get the whole set of Katie Winter mysteries.

Great suspense!
I liked the way this story unfolded. The characters were realistic and it was easy to relate to them. I was on the edge of my seat, so to speak, not knowing what was going to happen next. I would definitely recommend this entire series to anyone who enjoys a suspense thriller. I am looking forward to reading about more adventures with Katie Winter and her FBI endeavors.

Reach Me (Katie Winter #2) was a great read by Molly Black. A serial killer escapes prison and crosses the border into Canada. FBI Special Agent Katie Winter has to team up with her Canadian counterparts to stop him before other people die. Secrets from her past bubble up and she ends up following a lead for her sister's disappearance before it gets cold. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Better than the first but, not by much! Riddled with ambiguity.
While attempting to distinguish her literary chops. The author, while entertaining, demonstrated opposing descriptions of people and events. Which I have always found disconcerting. Other great authors have also fell into this trap, while expanding their descriptive prowess, they contradict already defined scenarios.

Katie and her Canadian counterpart on the task force head to Canada to catch a killer. Both partners have a lot of baggage that haunts them. Leblanc lost a romantic partner and it’s made him prickly. Lots of plot twists. Katie sees into the mind of the serial killers and that makes her a rising star in the BAU.

Gripping!
Absolutely love this series and I think book 2 is even better than book 1. There was so much action and sometimes I felt my heart was in my mouth and I had to keep telling myself that FBI agent Katie Winter would be okay as there are plenty more to come. Can't wait to read the next one!

Enjoyed my second foray into this author’s work. Liked the dramatic misunderstandings between partners and the frustration of knowing they weren’t right. Well performed and pretty clean…Odd in a novel that deals with such tension between 2 people trying to accomplish the same goal in different ways.

Katie now on the special task force to solve crimes on the US/Canadian border must find an escaped prisoner. This is a short read but interesting. I love these kinds of crime mysteries and love that the plot is similar in the stories, but the mystery changes. It makes it a great quick, comfort read.

Suspenseful
Parts of the story were exciting and page-turners. Other parts were a bland with repeating text "I'm on my way." And others.
I think the plot was good. It pulled you along. It was unlike other books from similar genre. I'm considering buying the next book.

Read one and you are done
This book was a repeat of Blacks previous suspense novel with a slightly different setting. The names of the law enforcement agents were changed, as were the localities, but the story line was identical. What a disappointment.

Again I'm confused by the FBI and Canadian police creating a special department (on Canadian soil) to work together...
HOWEVER - the search for the escaped serial killer was engaging with some good twists.
The two MC annoy me.

Okay, I haven't finished it yet but still planning to. What already bugs me is how easy it was to escape a maximum security prison. I've worked in one and her description is unrealistic. The minimum/medium security prison I currently work at is harder to escape from than the maximum security prison in this book.
I finished reading and overall, the plot is alright, a good amount of suspense, not as good as the first one.

Geography Lesson Needed
Molly Black has to learn more geography about the region in the book. You cannot get from Niagara Falls to North Bay in three hours; Toronto does not have foothills... The background to the novel is poorly researched.

I didn't read book one
I didn't read book one but I assume this gave more details of Katie Winters career. Otherwise I'm left wondering how a frankly flaky woman got a job with the FBI. Don't they do background checks? Atmospheric as it made me feel cold.

2.5 stars Meh. Not as good as the first one. It has no real tension or mystery and both Katie & Le Blanc are less likeable and their connection as partners non existent & dynamic painful to experience. Even the bit about Josie felt tedious & formulaic

Another good book by this author. I am enjoying this series
However, there are many editing errors that take away from it. EG: a "Two seater" truck suddenly changes to an suddenly. The story in itself is enjoyable and worth a read despite the poor editing.

Read the first in the series and I remember liking it a lot, at least enough to continue. This one, though, is just bad. The sentences are stilted. The main characters don't behave rationally. And it's really rushed and boring. Pass on the rest.

Onto the 3rd book! I LOVED the first book but the 2nd was EVEN BETTER! I love a thriller that is fast paced! They are tracking bad guys and I love it! The strong female lead is also empathetic and genuine! Highly Recommend! #mollyblack #books #booktok #bookreview #readersoftiktok
