When cross country skiers discover a body on the remote grounds of a luxury resort in northern Montana, FBI Special Agent Katie Winter must team up with her Canadian counterpart to stop a new serial killer before he strikes again.
FBI Special Agent Katie Winter is no stranger to frigid winters, isolation, and dangerous cases. With her sterling record of hunting down serial killers, she is a fast-rising star in the BAU, and Katie is the natural choice to partner with Canadian law enforcement to track the killer across the brutal and unforgiving landscape.
Yet Katie, lost in the secrets of her past, has finally found a lead into her missing sister—and this time she will track it down—even if she must battle a killer while doing so.
Can Katie keep it together long enough to solve both crimes?

An enjoyable book, but the reason for only 4 stars is the author's claim, through the thoughts of Katie Winter, that richochets make it too dangerous to try to shoot her attacker inside a log home. While anything is possible, wood typically swallows bullets instead of bouncing them around the room as concrete can.
Overall I'm enjoying this series and Winter's character, especially how driven she is to get to the truth no matter who disagrees with her. That tenacity is awesome.
Someone is killing in the luxury resort area of Montana. Agent Katie Winter and her law enforcement partner track the killer. In these remote locations Katie thinks she’s safe but ends up fighting for her life. The two agents butt heads and are finally getting to trust each other to cover their backs.
Katie and Leblanc have to search for a serial killer that keeps on killing people in the US and Canada, they have difficulty defining what is the link among the several dead and follow many leads under a lot of pressure to find the culprit. While trying to capture the killer they help put behind bars other culprits responsible for lesser crimes. Although I gave this story 4 stars, it should really be 3,5 stars. There are too many repeated thoughts made by the two FBI officers which made, sometimes, - at least for me - the story slow-paced. I received a free copy of this book as a member of the author's ARC team, and this is my honest opinion.
I did not like this one as much as the 1st two in the series. It seemed disjointed. Plus there were a lot of typos and run-on sentences. Wine and Leblanc are on the search for a serial killer who is targeting wealthy guests a high-end ranches on the Montana-Canadian border. Can they find him before his killing spree escalates?
The task force is called on to solve a murder on the Montana border they believe it's MO is similar to one in Canada making it a serial killings. Since the victims were vacationing at high end ranches it needed solved now Molly writes a very good story. You get caught up and right away and usage a hard time putting it down
Another good story in this Katie Winter series. I took off one star because it had so many editing errors. The storyline, however, is good and easy to follow. I was engaged and eager to finish and reach the conclusion. Over all I enjoyed this read.
I loved everything about this book; especially how the case would seemed to be slipping away, then another new clue would surface! The suspense kept me turning the page. Also the police procedural was fascinating. I am ready for the next Molly Black book.
I have just discovered this series and can’t wait to follow her adventures. I am just starting book four and am already looking forward to seeing it evolve. Molly is an excellent writer and I’m so glad I found her!
Another great serial murder book by Molly Black! I love her writing with all its twists and turns. Keeps me reading for sure. Can’t wait to read the next book!
3 ⭐️ Another Molly Black binged book. I do really like this series and the characters but I felt the first two were more creative. This book to me felt a little like filler. More grammar and typo issues in this book compared to the others, as well. I felt as though this book was the same short story 3 times in a row then ended satisfyingly enough to encourage the reader to read the next one. I’m still liking the series and plan to continue, but this wasn’t my favorite.
