This book features many of the remarkable works of art housed in the former armoury and other museums of the Moscow Kremlin, including Peter the Great's coronation crown, and Faberge's Tricentennial Easter Egg commissioned in 1913 by Nicholas II to celebrate 300 years of Romanov rule.
Great photos of works from the collection. We saw this grouping at the St.Petersburg Museum in Florida. Opened my eyes about the Czars and their wealth and elaborance.
Beautiful pictures, some nice essay portions of the times, good detail, though it did take me longer time to get through as its not exactly fast reading. I especially enjoyed the artifact of the wool embroidery map of Russia from 1872. And it was interesting to learn that on page 218, Nicholas I state policy was "orthodoxy, autocracy, nationality" which defined the ideology of the state. Still present today.
