No one expected to grow up in a cult, but that was exactly what life had in store for Leviticus Temple and his four brothers. But what happens when life throws a sudden curveball and a righteous son of Zion is introduced to a life that the church would consider sinful?

As the eldest Temple brother, Leviticus, or Levi to those close to him, was determined to get himself and his brothers out of the toxic cult atmosphere they were raised in. Only there’s one issue--it had been arranged that he would marry Ruth, the perfect woman in the eyes of the Followers of Zion. She was perfect: submissive, compliant, and caring--everything he wanted. However, not like this.

Ruth had been taught from a young age to bend to the will of her husband. After all, that was the way of a daughter of Zion, and she was nothing if not devoted. But there had always been a doubt in the back of her mind somewhere, wondering if there was something more to it. Was it really just the church's training that turned her into a submissive wife, or was it something deeper that she had yet to discover herself? She didn't dare tell her new husband that a part of her actually enjoyed giving him control.

Levi, the sweet Dom...

This is the first in a series of five brothers, who have grown up in a sick religious cult called The Followers of Zion. Levi and his brothers also discovered a kinky sex club not too far from their community, and have explored their Dominance and kinks. They have decided to leave the cult, but have made a plan to each get married as required by their religious leader. They want to give the women they marry the chance to escape with them and have a chance at a normal free live.

Leviticus, Levi, is the oldest and first to get married. Ruth is chosen for him by his parents arrangement, and is a virtual stranger. They are forced to go through sick and twisted marriage "rituals" which just reinforces Levi's desire to get away from the cult and it's disgusting leaders.

I liked the premise and the storyline. I loved the brothers and am really intrigued about their books and which kink they are into. I also really liked Levi and Ruth. They were sweet and allowed themselves to be open and honest about their needs and wants. Levi and Ruth had lots of steamy chemistry. They found in each other what they had only ever fantasized to have....love, respect, trust, and BDSM kinkery.

I did have some issues that really detracted from the story for me. This was a long book that I think dragged through a good bit. I can't believe I'm saying this but there was too much sex. Levi and Ruth were on their month long seclusion honeymoon, and so it was a little bit of dialogue or interaction and then fairly drawn out sex scenes.

I think the author was trying to show Levi's passion for Ruth by his constant need and want for her. He kept droning on about it and having sex with her every time he sees her. It got very repetitive to the point I wanted to just skim over it. I realize that Levi was trying to teach Ruth about BDSM and that would take time, and the author was trying to show us instead of telling us, but the same sentiments keep being repeated over and over and even with the sex it just started to drone on.

Also the Dom/sub aspects, her submission and his control, were so gushed over and superfluous that it became cheesy and tedious. It made me zone out instead of becoming more invested in the couple.

I thought this story and premise had great potential. It was just needed to be more streamlined and maybe some more fade to black scenes. The repetitiveness of some of the inner dialogue and monologues made me want to shout, "yes, I get it" and check how many pages I had left. I hope that with a lot of the world building/situation being laid out in this one, the next one will be better.

Even though this is an ARC review, I will always shoot you straight. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The premise of the book is intriguing. The execution is less than desirable
There was a mix of thing that did not bode well together. The constant repeat of the word consent was borderline brainwashing and unnecessary. We got it. Consent. No need to repeat it 15 times

Loved it! The romance is beautiful. The storyline is real, it's descriptive, it's captivating. You can easily picture yourself as part of their story. For someone with little knowledge of the BDSM atmosphere, it was perfectly informative. I felt so much like the FMC, learning my way through it. The characters!!!!! Genuine, loveable, respectable main characters. You have those you want to root for and those who are understandably villainized. You can't help but root for Levi & Ruth. I immediately bought book 2 and am anxious to dive in!

This fell flat. I basically dnfed at 76% and skimmed the dialogue for the rest of the book. It was suggested to me and I was excited to read it but the characters have no dimension, besides the brother Ollie, but he is still lackluster. I kept waiting for something to happen. Anything. I kept waiting for something interesting only for the entire book to be them in his house and tiptoeing around each other or having sex.

I am all about consent and struggle but it got redundant. I got tired of hearing about how twisted and evil he felt compared to her sweet virginal self. BDSM isn't inherently evil, sinful, or wrong, but that's how it is depicted to the characters and there's never some big moment where he is like nooo, it isn't... unless I missed it in the last few pages.

I wanted them to talk. I wanted dialogue between the two that wasn't about sex or religion or family. Just the two of them and I never got it. A weird amount of this book was spent talking about her cleaning and cooking and bathing and cooking and cleaning and wondering if things will workout instead of scenes of dialogue between characters. Not once did they have a moment where they connected and I saw their chemistry outside of the sexual connection. I was hopeful when he took her on their picnic but even with the perfect opportunity it turned into sex instead of emotional connection.

It couldn't keep my attention and even the sex got repetitive. The first couple scenes were hot! But then it was more and more of the same. She's on top again, surprise. He's trying to hold back, surprise. I just wanted more dimension overall that I never got and there were a lot of mistakes in editing that kept distracting me as I was trying to get into the book.

I doubt I'll continue the series. On to the next.

This is a mixed bag. I love the idea but the execution is not great. About half the book is sex but at the cost of the plot. Two editing errors stick out. The first was a whole line in the book that was an editor's remarks. The second was "a head" rather than ahead.

There is a hell of a lot of explaining what kink is. While I commend the public education aspect of it all I'm also well aware of what a safeword is. So aware.

According to reviews all of this was to be expected. The second book is supposed to be better.

Leviticus

The first book in the Temple Brothers series doesn't disappoint as we follow the story of Levi as he and his brothers leave the religious cult they grew up in. One thing they plan to go through with is the arranged marriages, in hopes their wives will leave the cult as well.

Check the trigger warnings, because there are several that may bother some people.

Levi and Ruth were a great couple to start the series. The pair have a unique relationship and she challenges him and his beliefs in ways he never expected. She also pushes him into showing her his dominant side, since she herself is submissive. They have great chemistry that makes the relationship believable and realistic.

While I loved the story and content, including the best description of kink I have seen in a long time, getting past the typos and missing words was hard. Possibly only a problem in the E-edition.

5 Stars for Leviticus by Elle Sparrow

This book is the surprise of the year for me!!! That alone is deserving of 5 stars. I honestly thought this book was going to be a filler for the day. I did not expect to soak up everything about this Temple brother and crave more.

My friend told me about this book. I saw Cults and Doms....and well color me intrigued. I am personally obsessed with cults. I find them so fascinating. I will watch any documentary and read any book. Throw in my love for romance and we have a winner.

I only have one critique about this book. I wish there was more about the cult/religion and that's a personal request, not necessarily needed. I feel like I did not learn enough about Zion while reading Leviticus' story or at least I feel like I needed an introduction. I kept trying to picture the way the cult was set up, but couldn't get a firm idea. So I kept picturing Scientology mixed with The Handmaid's Tale.

I really appreciated the use of BDSM as well. There is a strong parallel between the power structure in cults and BDSM. Tons of structure and orders, especially for Doms and Subs. BDSM was not taught in Zion so when Levi randomly discovered it while out on a task, it was a revelation to him. One that he shared with his brothers and started a whole new journey for them.

Unfortunately, in Zion, arranged marriages are still a thing and that is our introduction to Leviticus and Ruth. The whole process of the wedding day is INSANE! So emotionally heartbreaking and disturbing....so so disturbing. Needless to say from then I was hooked. I could not stop reading. I was just waiting to see what crazy act would be thrown in next.

Levi's plan involved to fulfill his duty to get married, live a fake marriage, and then leave. He did not expect to enjoy his marriage or even love his wife. Ruth was a very sweet innocent woman that throughout the book discovered more about herself through BDSM and her marriage with Levi. She didn't know of any life outside of Zion, so she was very sheltered. Levi opened her eyes to a whole new world. There was so much emotion between Levi and Ruth. They both grew and learned new things about themselves by being together. They also developed a love that was written beautifully.

I can't wait to continue reading the Temple brothers journey. I am so excited for Bartholomew's (Ollie) story. I can NOT wait. We will find out more of his kink and whether or not his wife will go along with the brothers plan. Bring it on Elle!

The story in this book, of the eldest brother from a family living in a cult like community, who found an affinity for the BDSM world as a dom and marries a natural sub is a fun read. I am reading slower than I usually do because I've gotten busier in my life but it doesn't mean the book is less enjoyable. In the beginning of the story, I got frustrated with Ruth, Levi's “natural sub” wife when on the first morning she woke up in his arms and he pulled her close, loving all over her, she kept saying his name over and over to wake him up instead of basking in it, and then she kept calling him Leviticus instead of Levi, as he asked her several times. What got me was that later, she said it was rude to wake someone up in the morning, “But why be quiet?” He asked again, like that somehow made it all make sense. “I whisper because it’s rude to wake others up.” I rolled my eyes.” So, that earlier scene when she kept saying his name to wake him up when he was cuddling her in his sleep makes me a bit angry with her. Why THE HELL would she do that? Its not that I think its bad writing, its that I’m not sure I like this character. She’s kind of stupid. Then, I got frustrated with Levi. Why did he purposefully shun her, his own wife? Why not give in to his attraction to her? They were legally married and she never tried to reject him in any way. I saw no problem with him making love to his wife. Still, he kept away from her until she finally pushed enough of his buttons (which called being a brat in the BDSM world) for him to take her against a wall, which she loved. Once he finally got his head out of his ass, he learned that his new wife wanted to know more about his world, his sexual proclivities. So, he slowly taught her about the BDSM world. He taught ME too. There were things I didn’t know but learned by reading this book. There were things I knew but didn’t know how to explain which were explained perfectly in this book. Much as I enjoyed this book, I am mildly annoyed that I have to read through the entire series before I getting a resolution to the conflict of having to live with this horrible cult in which they were all raised. In the mean time, I am learning more about kinks and the BDSM world.

Leviticus is the eldest of five boys in the Temple family. Destined to be wed first under the eyes of the elders of Zion. Zion is basically a cult that marries virgin women off to men in the congregation. They have appalling rituals and no qualms about marrying off a 15 year old child to a man twice her age. So yeah that's gross.

All five Temple brothers hate Zion and have made a plan and pact to get out. They have agreed to go through with being wed off and offering their wives a chance at a life away from the cult. Leviticus better known ad Levi is also into BDSM and is a Protocol Dom. Unfortunately he makes a.choice to step away from his club thinking he will have to hide the Dom and kink side of his life for his arranged marriage to Ruth.

Ruth is what is known as a daughter of Zion. Basically a female raised and trained all her life for the sole purpose to serve her husband. After a woman is married they are escorted to a separate room that is filled with elders who literally put them through a disgusting ritual that involves being inspected by a man that is not her husband to make sure she is pure. Then the couple has to consummate their marriage in front of these people. 🤢

Levi stepped up and promised to get Ruth through the horrible ritual. Once they settle into their home things unfold and they find their true selves. The first 10 days are rocky as Levi fights to hide being a Dom and Ruth is unsure how to connect with him. Levi sees submission in Ruth and eventually they talk and explore this dynamic which turns the tables in their relationship. The first half is slow burn but once they truly connect the spice kicks up.

This ends with the middle brother Ollie announcing he is being married off next. So on to book 2.

"Leviticus" by Elle Sparrow is an enthralling and thought-provoking novel that delves into the complexities of escaping a cult and discovering one's true self. The story follows Leviticus Temple, or Levi, the eldest of five brothers raised in the oppressive environment of the Followers of Zion. Determined to break free from the toxic cult, Levi's journey is complicated by an arranged marriage to Ruth, the epitome of a submissive, compliant wife according to the church's teachings.

Sparrow masterfully weaves a narrative that explores the psychological and emotional struggles of characters trapped in a rigid belief system. Levi's character is compelling as he battles to save himself and his brothers from the cult's grasp while grappling with his own desires and the expectations placed upon him. Ruth's internal conflict is equally captivating, as she begins to question the teachings she has always followed and discovers a deeper part of herself that enjoys surrendering control.

The novel is rich with tension and emotional depth, making it difficult to put down. Sparrow's portrayal of the cult's influence is both chilling and realistic, providing a stark backdrop against which the characters' personal transformations unfold. The relationship between Levi and Ruth is central to the story, evolving from one of obligation to a complex, passionate dynamic that challenges both characters' beliefs and desires.

"Leviticus" is more than just a story about escaping a cult; it's a profound exploration of identity, control, and the human spirit's resilience. Elle Sparrow has crafted a powerful narrative that stays with the reader long after the final page. For those interested in psychological drama, romance, and the journey of self-discovery, "Leviticus" is a must-read.

This is the first book in a series about the five Temple Brothers who were all born into a religious cult that is, quite frankly, sickening. The brothers have discovered the world of BDSM and have made the decision to leave the group and strike out on their own. But they want to give others a chance to join then in their defection, so they are going to allow the arranged marriages that the cult forces upon its members, among other things, in the hopes that some of the women may want to leave with them. They do not plan to force the women to stay with them, not do they plan to expose their personal proclivities to their spouses. Unmarried men and women are kept separate within the group, so the brothers have no knowledge of their partners before the wedding.

Levi is the oldest Temple son and his parents negotiate his pairing with Ruth. Levi has no expectations of developing any feelings for his new spouse and concentrates on hiding the deepest of his Dom inclinations. Acting like the defacto head of his household and keeping his wife "in-check" are expected of him by his father and the other elders. He is also supposed to get the little woman pregnant as soon as possible and then continue adding to the cults members as long as she is capable. Levi has no plans on doing this. He only wants to keep his cool long enough for his brothers to marry so they can all leave. Boy, is he in for a surprise. Ruth will turn out to be very different than he could have ever imagined. But will that make his future plans more or less difficult to carry out?

ARC Review

Arrange Marriage, Kink, Dom/Sub, Religious Cult, Rape (check trigger warnings)

Full rating is 4.5 stars for me (the only reason I'm taking off half a star is because I'm more a fan of short chapters versus long ones).

Leviticus is the first book in the Temple Brother's series. It is about five brothers who were raised into a religious cult, that I must say made my stomach turn at times. The brothers are set up in arranged marriages to women raise to basically be housewives and breeding tools.

However before entering into these arranged marriages the brothers discover the world off Kink. A plan is formed to leave the Village of Zion and a life that sounds truly awful, in my opinion, while trying to get a few extras out as well, AKA their wives.

Levi is the oldest of the Temple brothers and the first to enter his marriage, to Ruth. Sweet, innocent, subservient Ruth. The pull to each other is so strong, from the first time Levi truly laid his eyes on his wife at their wedding. But the closer Ruth tries to get the more Levi tries to push her away, fearful she will not understand his Dominant way of life and will alert the Elders of Zion of his way of life, but Levi can't help but be drawn to the natural submissive that is Ruth.

The world building was fantastic and from page one had me drawn in. And the characters were hard not to fall for. I honestly felt horrible that it took me so long to read as I just did not have the free time in April like I have been having. But I truly loved this story and can not wait to hear the other brothers kinks and stories.

Thank you for the opportunity for this ARC.

I loved this book!
What a great book. I have not read anything by this author before, but the premise of a cult intrigued me. I am glad I read it. I loved Levi and Ruth's story. Levi and his brothers want nothing more than to leave the cult they was born into. They have a plan and that plan includes marriage. Levi is the first to be called forth to marry, having never met his intended - Ruth. Their story is such a good one as they navigate their life together. After marrying Levi, Ruth ventures forth on a new path to discover who she is as an married woman and an individual, away from simply being the dutiful daughter of a cult member and a commodity to be bargained away to others for power. Luckily she has Levi to guide her. Unbeknownst to her, Levi has a plan to leave the cult - with or without Ruth. Even with the dynamic they find themselves in, this is an beautiful romance between two people who learn about themselves and each other while balancing a fine line of ensuring the cult members do not find out about Levi's plans. A really great story and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

This was the first book I've read by this author. Elle Sparrow tells an amazing, crazy, and creative story. Her characters are complex and they're written well. I needed more though lol. I got to the last page and instantly had to stalk this author on Amazon. I needed to see what she wrote and what books were next. This is going to be a super awesome series. I can't wait to see what's next.
If you like heat and I mean lots of heat with your couples then this book should be next for you to read. There are some triggers so please read at your own risk.

This book takes place in a community that you might say is cultish. I loved Leviticus and Ruth together. They had a chemistry that you would root for against all odds. Leviticus has certain tastes and Ruth was not what I thought that she would have been. I loved her!!! She surprised me as the book went on. Leviticus was just dark, broody, and delicious. I loved the tortured person that he was and how Ruth just fit him to a tee.

I am so happy to have found an author that has brought a refreshing, hot, and captivating read that I will enjoy rereading and seeing what happens next.

Oh my goodness I love this book even before I started reading it and I can tell it’s becoming one of my new favorite series!! The characters are awesome and the brothers friendship is something wonderful I love the closeness and trust they have with each other. They story itself is one I feel in away is relatable in the relationship that Sir and Beloved has I feel like in a way she reminds me of myself in some ways. I don’t blame them and the other brothers for their plan I would do that too if I had to deal with crazy parents among the way the church treats women like nothing good. If you’re looking for a strong lend female character and a amazing way example and showing how a d/s and other kinks may look like for some people this a book for you. In my opinion I loved it and plan on keeping it and can’t wait to read the next book!! It has funny parts and a great loving relationship comes through it among other things that are awesome in this book a very happy ending if you ask me and a lot more to look forward to has the series continue with the another amazing brothers characters!!.

✔️ Religious Cult
✔️ Arranged Marriage
✔️ Kink

“We didn’t go full kink. More… vanilla sex with some kinky sprinkles scattered on top”

I really liked the premise of this. Religious cult member turned taboo kinkster? Yes, please.

We learn pretty early on just how convoluted some of the cult practices are - check the TW - but Levi knows exactly who he is and that this is not the place for him. What he doesn’t expect, is his arranged wife Ruth to be everything he ever dreamed a submissive could be.

I liked the pacing and the seemingly natural evolution of their relationship. In the beginning, I didn’t really feel anything between Levi and Ruth but I think it may be written this way on purpose- and adds to the story because their relationship grows on you just as it does them. It leaves off on a bit of a cliffhanger and I’ll be interested to see what the brothers are up to in the next books.

“It’s your imperfections that make you perfect in my eyes, Ruth,” he spoke solemnly, honestly. He pulled away so that I could see his face, so that I could see the truth written there in his gaze.
“You make me very happy, Levi,” I spoke honestly.

Leviticus is the first story about the Temple brothers, born into a cult they are desparate to break free from. Levi, the eldest, is forced to marry Ruth, a woman he doesn't know but who ends up challenging him and upending his world in ways he couldn't have foreseen. Beware: There are scenes that are quite hard to take involving the role women are required to take in the cult's beliefs. But Levi and Ruth are both great characters and the feelings of respect and ultimately, love, developing between them is a joy to see. There are sexy scenes with and without BDSM elements, as well as an envolving d/s dynamic. This is a book with lots of depth that will stay with you long after the last page is read. It'll go on my keeper shelf and I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next book in the series.

Leviticus is book one of The Temple Brothers series of interconnected standalones. This book was intriguing and kept me interested from the first page. This series is about five brothers that were raised in a religious cult but they know things aren’t right and they want out. They have a plan but first want to go through their arranged marriages in hopes to get their wives out as well.

I loved Levi and Ruth! Levi is caring and patient with Ruth when she sees that she is struggling. Ruth was raised to be a submissive wife but was also raised in a family where there was no love. She just wants to make her husband happy. I loved the relationship between these two. There is so much love and respect for each other even when they were butting heads.

I’m excited to read the rest of this series and find out more about the brothers and their wives. Check the trigger warnings before starting this series…there are several incidents that could be triggering.

I was hooked in this story within the first couple of pages. This story is such an unique one to me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Levi is the oldest brother that must get married in their community/cult. Through this arranged marriage, fortune is on his side and gifts him with the perfect person for him. Ruth is a traditional subservient woman that is to be expected from their upbringing, however there is more than the traditional within her. This is not a story where something massive or some horrible thing happens towards the end. The massive thing in their lives happens at the beginning of the story. Watching these two learn to trust each other and build a life with love in it is beautiful. I am excited to read the rest of this series, to see how the rest of Temple brothers fall. And if they’re successful in their plans.

Different than most books about the BDSM community. Similar in that, it explores kinks, consent, and a girl who has never heard of the community. It was different in the fact that the main characters and all the side characters are a part of a cult. As I'm reading, the angrier I'm getting with Levi's father and the whole elders of the community. Makes me freaking sick!! I love the plan that Levi has with his brothers. I just worry they may not be able to execute it. His father terrifies me. And so does Ruth's sister, Adah. She's planning something, and I'm afraid it's going to hurt Ruth. The relationship Ruth and Levi developed is so sweet and perfect! I'm so glad that Levi gets to be himself, and so does Ruth. For as long of a book this was, nothing much happened, besides the development between the characters

So good!

I beta read this story for Elle but wanted to read the release copy in order to effectively review it fairly. So I purchased it on the day of release. And it’s just - so good! All of Elle’s books are written with so much passion and precision. She so cleverly weaves together the stories of these brothers and their wives. I literally cannot imagine Levi and Ruth ever being apart. They’re decidedly perfect for each other. There were some things that made me stop and wonder. Would I be into that or calling yellow at the first thwack? Hmmm. Makes the mind wander for sure! But omg - the first scene in the study. Thats going to be stuck in my head for ages. And i just simply can not wait for book 2!

I was given an advanced copy and here is my honest review of the book.

This was truly amazing. A cult with an arranged marriage and Kink all thrown together? Who would've thought that it works so well! Leviticus Temple is a Dom who is willing to leave the life behind so he, his brothers, and their arranged wives can flee the cult they're a part of. As the eldest, he's the first to marry and will need to wait for the rest of the gang to get married before they can leave. What Leviticus doesn't expect, is that his new wife Ruth is the perfect Service Submissive. The scenes are written beautifully and with so much passion that the temperature rises while reading.
I love the patience that Leviticus shows and the caring side that is so important as well.
4 stars!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Wow this was an absolutely amazing book, the storyline was incredibly interesting and the characters were unique. Leviticus (Levi) is the eldest of the Temple brothers is to have an arranged marriage all the brothers will have an arranged marriage all for the life they live in Zion. There was so many twists and turns but it is so worth reading all the emotions you go through. All the brothers have these special kit bags and when you hear what is in there you will blush but also be dry in the mouth and wet every else.

Okieeee!

So this book had me questioning my existence one minute to squealing and kicking my legs the next! This was darker than I expected and at the same time sweeter than I expected. Levi and Ruth are such a great pair and honestly made me believe in soul mates for a second.

Warning if you have religious trauma this will just make it worse but in a good way(?) I think lol. I think it is fascinating to get into the heads of people who are in cults and experiencing intense indoctrination because it is a little cathartic and also mind bending.

The writing is clearly self published as there were many issues in editing. But the actual content of the book was so good! I was a bit skeptical and the 4+ stars on Goodreads but man this hit and scratched every itch I had!

Leviticus is the first in a series following five brothers as they navigate their arranged marriages while planning to leave the religious cult they were raised in. Each brother also has a different kink that is explored during the book.

In this book, Leviticus (Levi), is the oldest brother and ends up marrying a woman who he quickly finds is naturally submissive in a way that pairs with his Dominant side very well.

Overall, I like the concept of this story and would like to continue the series, however, I found that there was a large lack of editing to this book with a lot of grammatical, spelling, and sentence structure errors that gravely influenced my experience with the book. Had those not been present (or even just less), I would have given this book four stars instead of three.
