There's a pull toward this woman.
It's powerful.
Formidable.
Unbreakable.

Taken my mind.

Miranda Bridges began sneaking romance novels as a teenager and did not confess to reading them until she became a legal adult. After years and years as a voracious reader she woke up one day with a story in mind. She decided to write it down in order to silence her imaginary friends, but they’ve grown in number and have gotten louder. When she is not reading, writing, or drinking coffee she is taking care of two princesses who are of a reading age. Needless to say Miranda is still hiding romance books around the house, but now some of them have her name on the cover.

🎧 Audiobook Review: Shatter (Brides for the House of Fate, #3)

Author: Miranda Bridges
Genre: Science Fiction Romance
Narrators: Mia Madison and Oliver Highpoint

📚 Plot & Characters

The story picks up in the aftermath of the Morja males’ daring escape from the fighting arena. Denali, rescued by her mate Rixan, still carries the sting of betrayal—angry that he couldn’t save her friend Yesenia. What she doesn’t realize is that Cyanos, another Morja, sacrificed his own freedom to shield Yesenia from a monstrous beast.

Both Cy and Yesenia suffer brutal injuries and are forced to recover in the arena’s infirmary. Their confinement becomes a crucible for connection: attraction sparks, chemistry ignites, and their bond deepens quickly. Yet the narrative leans heavily into intimacy—so much so that it overshadows the action and adventure I was craving. While the romance is undeniably passionate, I found myself wishing for more plot momentum and less repetition of steamy encounters.

🌟 Highlights

• The danger is palpable: from the beast attack to the looming threat of Tulgen captivity, tension simmers throughout.
• Yesenia’s past choices resurface when a vengeful guard seeks retribution, adding a layer of suspense.
• Supporting characters shine, even if their primary role is to set the stage for future installments. They add texture and intrigue to the larger series arc.

⤵️ Low Points

• Each book feels more like a serialized chapter than a complete story. Instead of delivering satisfying resolution, the narrative cuts off abruptly, leaving arcs dangling. For me, this undermines the payoff that most romance series manage to balance within each installment.

🎙️ Narration

Told in dual POV, the audiobook benefits from the complementary voices of Oliver Highpoint and Mia Madison. Oliver’s steady, even delivery grounds the story, while Mia’s expressive tone brings warmth and dimension to Yesenia’s perspective. Having listened to them across multiple books, I find their performances increasingly engaging—they elevate the material even when the pacing falters.

💬 Final Thoughts

This third entry offers danger, passion, and setup for what’s to come, but it leans too heavily on intimacy at the expense of adventure. While the narrators keep me invested, I long for tighter storytelling and more complete arcs within each book. Still, fans of high-heat alien romance will find plenty to enjoy, especially if they’re in it for the series journey rather than standalone satisfaction.

When I opened the book, I realised that I had read them before when it opened to the end of the book. I could not remember the story so jumped in. I like reading Sci Fi because anything goes. There is humour throughout that releases some of the tension built up about the situation the women find themselves in.
The women wake up and find themselves in a prison to serve the male alien prisoners who fight for their lives. Along the way they find their mates and have to put up with the ar$ehole wardens.
All in all it’s its a fun read.

Written by Miranda Bridges this Brides for the Houses of Fate series follows aliens and their human female mates. The planet is called Serissa, the territory is called Livardia, which was previously owned by the Four Houses of Fate. The 4 Houses of Fate are the morja, silas, akal, and vulari. The Tulgans look like orcs and are the bad guys, but even they answer to a group who holds power over their own people known as the Atori. The Four Houses fell, and those left alive became prisoners. The Atori ruled all and had claimed Livardia territory. Now, the houses play in gladiator games to survive. Until they find their opportunity to escape and band together to fight against their captors. Females were abducted from Earth and sold to the Atori as slaves. Their slave duties took place in Livardia, where they were expected to attend to the winning alien gladiators. The enslaved alien warriors fall in love with their female human mates along the way to finding their freedom and revenge.

Written in first person, Shatter is book 3 in the series and follows Cyanos of the morja house and his human mate Yesenia. Yesenia was was abducted from Earth by the mazzah and given to the Atori. She became best friends with Denali. At the end of book 2, Denali escaped with her mate. Cyanos was born of Wixor and Mahri. During the escape, Cyanos came back to rescue Yesenia from certain death, which resulted in both of them being trapped by their captors until they healed. The Morja are humanoid, with lion features that include fur and a tail. When they shift, they transform into a creature part lion, part eagle, that can fly. This book had a particular twist that allowed Yesenia to time travel to the past and save Cyanos from injuring his wings. As a result, he didn’t remember the claiming, as she still bore his bite marks. So she had to convince him and everyone else what happened, and get him to fall in love with her all over again.

While the buildup was balanced and kept the reader hooked, it took way too long to get to the filthy good stuff, which is the entire reason I read romance novels. The couple had their first intercourse in chapter 11, at the 54% mark. I was particularly drawn to the Morja purring for their mate. Simple, yet romantic. The Morja bite their mates to mark them, like vampires. Since I’m all for the vampire fantasy, I’m on board for the Morja bite as well. If that wasn’t enough, their cock swells until they are stuck inside their mate after climax. Forced cuddling, yay! After the official claiming, they became a mated pair and after their escape and claiming reminded, lived happily ever after.

So far, this series is okay. It’s a little complicated and confusing with certain aspects, such as the Atori and tulgans. I think the tulgans are the orcs. I still have no idea who or what the Atori are, just that they’re in control of everyone and everything, including the orc/tulgans and the mazzah. I know that the Morja are the griffins. I still don’t quite understand the dynamics of the other three houses: silas, akal, and vulari. I know that one (the Silas I think?) is a snake-like alien. I think the author added unnecessary elements that dirtied the plot and confused the reader. I will still read the remaining books in the series in hopes that things begin to make more sense. At least the raunch was entertaining enough.

Shatter de Miranda Bridges serie Brides for the Houses of Fate libro 3

Argumento:

Soy un prisionero de los Atori. Y ella.

Hay un tirón hacia esta mujer.

Es poderoso.
Formidable.
Irrompible.

Este pequeño humano me ha encadenado.

Me llevó cautivo.

No podía creerlo!

I was privileged enough to be a beta reader for this book, the last edition in the series staring the morja , and this was a fantastic conclusion for the griffen and their mates.

Cyanos, my goodness I loved him so much. He was by far the most complex morja in my opinion due to his past. This set up some very heartbreaking and thoughtful scenarios that left me bereft, irritated, and even reluctantly amused during serious scenes. Without giving too much away, I can say that both Yesenia and Cyanos have commitment issues, though Cyanos is more open to exploring things with Yesenia he does end up lashing out when she closes down on him and only seems interested in sex. I found the book to be highly emotive with a wide spectrum of possible residual feelings while reading. While I think most people will be okay with the dynamic of their relationship through the book, I found myself often times frustrated and exasperated with Yesenia along with Cyanos. Then, he would turn around and give Yesenia the cold shoulder. They're definitely a hot/cold couple. Don't feel bad for Yesenia either, this woman can dish it out with the best of them and whenever she didn't get what she wanted, she was more than willing to seek that out from other men. Though I may not have agreed with a lot of the things Yesenia did, I definitely think she will be the favorite fmc of this series. She's very crass but has a caring personality, she's also hilarious. This girl has zero filter, her thought process just zips from brain to mouth with no in between and it makes for priceless banter and tension.

Supporting characters in this particular story really pushed this book to top tier of the three. They're so strong that neither of the two prisoners that Yesenia interacts with seem like side characters. Their presence and strength ooze through the pages, I was sometimes more focused on these two guys than I was Yesenia and Cyanos. I can not wait to read their series either because they both heavily impact the morja's future and the future of the other escapee prisoners. These guys are so strongly fleshed out that its hard not to already love them. The twist in this story was magnificent and heart wrenching. I would not have minded one bit if Yesenia and Cyanos had gotten a second book to really flesh out the situation. Overall I absolutely loved this book. If you enjoy steamy romance with otherworldly alpha mates who, for the most part, are 100% dedicated to their love interest this is a MUST read.

4&1\2fabulous 🌟s for Shatter the 3rd book in this series🔥💖🔥💖

Yesenia is small but mighty and Denali's best friend she got left behind at the end of the last book. This book picks up at that very moment. Yesenia is a minute away from taking her last breath a big monster is ready to strike when all of a sudden she's being while by the most handsome Morja she's ever seen. Cy looks down and sees the beautiful dark haired human female and know instinctively that he needs to save her. He give up his own freedom to save her and is gravely injured. As they heal they grow closer ,but both have pasts that haunt them failed relationships that prevent them moving forward. Even though they are cautious their attraction is intense and soon becomes a ride neither want to put out. Instead they begin to fan it's flames higher. But nothing worth having is easy and often times we must make sacrifices in order for the ones we love to stay safe and be whole. You must read this story to find out if the sacrifices were worth it and if love that connects one soul to another truly is worth any price. The ending also leave us with a glimpse into then next house of fate and a new and more evil enemy to vanquish! Happy reading💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖

Third times a charm

This book was really about setting up for the next series. I missed the world building from the first book. There are lots of harry potter similarities in this book, more so then the first two. The first two books were more nods to the series, but this book straight up borrowed key elements from the HP series. Its essentially “random earth woman who bangs a griffin and the prisoner of the tulgan”

The character development was fine, but I didnt grow attached to either of the main characters. Rixan, rylen and cyanos are really one in the same character with little differences here and there. The secondary characters were more interesting. Elyon was great and Im excited for Garrik to develop.

the second book felt more rushed but I liked that it didnt drag.

Overall I enjoyed this series. I do wish she didnt do a string of all one house. Like 3 morja books in a row? Come on, throw in an akal or a vulturi story in there.

Hum, ok. Three couples, a war in the background. We are left where they are planning the takeover of their planet with atracks from different places. And then what? It just jumps to the epilogue qoth the predicted kids. And what happen to the damn war? The whole series is about them being prisioners and fighting for their freedom but the actual fight never happened. Are they still in war? Were the Tulgans defetead? How did that actually happen? It feels the story just needed to follow the same recipe from the same two previous books regardless the developing timeline in the background. We never found what exactly happened to Earth. The other females they talked about? Who were them? Why the Silas could smell Cy on her and he couldn’t smell himself so soon after mating? Who was the nameless enemy, what happened to him? Too many questions that makes it feel the book is incomplete.

What a conclusion! I fell in love with this series after seeing Ruby Dixon and Tiffany Roberts recommend it on their FB pages. I really enjoyed learning about this world, and following the steamy romances!

My complaints are really that I wished the male lead regained all his memories, though I understand that him believing her was the point of them learning to trust. Maybe I’m just being picky here, but I also wanted him to bite her again; he didn’t have those memories, so why not make new ones? Yesenia sacrificed a lot and I wish there had been a bit more grovelling because I wanted that assurance that he really loved her.

Overall, it was a good series and I really enjoyed it! I’ll be reading the next series with the Silas!

Addictive and full of action, it's the best one so far!

This book was jammed full of all kinds of literary crack...ummm, I mean, goodness, lol! There was the chaotic opening scene, the dramatic sacrifice and simultaneous rescuing. Then Yesenia with her irrepressible character was impossible not to fall in love with, and she and Cy had so much heat between them, it was crazy good. The book kept building elements and textures to both this individual story as well as to the overall storyline that I was forced to stay up all night to finish it, and now I'm mad at myself because it's over for now and the next book isn't ready yet, and I feel like I need to check into literary rehab or something. So good. Seriously.

If you read book 2 in this series, you’ll recall that Cyanos didn’t flee with the other warriors but put himself in harm’s way by placing himself between a human female and the beast released in the arena. The woman turned out to be Yesenia, Denali’s bestie. This act of bravery caused his wings to become irreparably damaged.

He and Yesenia remain prisoners, sharing a cell. She is recruited to help the on site physician and in doing so discovers a possible way to change their fate involving time travel.

Unfortunately the time travel has everyone forget what happened in the past and Yesenia is the only one to recall how the present came to be. Cyanos rejects her and she has to come to terms with her new reality until she doesn’t.

he saves her in the arena gets hurt badly, his wings are done for. He will never fly again. Of course he gets her in bed right away, for the book is only stupid talk and sex, very boring. Just like book Nr 2. No substance to the story. A other patient is able to shape time and space so he our " Hero " is like he was before, he can fly again, he wants the human but does not remember the past and that he is the one mated her. She does know and tells him. And that is when I stopped the book. I have enough of this nonsense. The conversations are yuck, the sex stuff is yuck and there is no real world building. Now she added time travel to it. I am done. Would not give that book 1 star but did so to write a comment.

Miranda Bridges Serves Up Yet Another Amazing read—as usual!

I absolutely LOVED the War Brides of the Morja and I’m not ready to leave their world yet. I wished I could have read Selene’s and Garrick’s story along with some of the other Houses! If Ms. Bridges branches off and writes about the others consider me in for buying up EVERY one!

Totally cried over Yesenia’s sacrifice during this book and of course then happy tears at Cyanos’s and her reunion. As usual loved the steamy scenes that were written to perfection! Couldn’t put this book down. Crossing my fingers and hoping we will get more War Bride stories from the other Houses 🙏🤞.

Aurelia / Temptress

Shatter is definitely better than Book 2 in the series. Yesenia, the heroine, is “a stick of dynamite”. Cyanous, the hero is a Morja, Griffin, shifter. The only way I can make it through a War Brides of Morja book is to have a four “Houses of Fate” cheat sheet, plus take notes throughout the book (due to the constant introduction of new characters, plus the new language we are being introduced to) which is not enjoyable. Wish Miranda Bridges would return to the simplicity of her Elemental Mates series which was phenomenal.

ummm, this was good but a lot of plot holes

Where do I begin?
So what happened to the war for freedom? Any news on that serum and the new big bad that was introduced? What about Selene’s sister? Yep. We got a host of new plot points that I guess were meant to serve as intro points or backdoor pilots to the planned spinoff series.
The plot points were all random and the speed of which Yesenia was able to heal and fall in love with Cy wasn’t exactly believable or on brand with what we’ve learned thus far.
All around, good not a great effort to conclude this series.

Love this series

There are little things that maybe some people would complain about. Some parts are rushed, while others drawn out BUT I can see past that and I just love the characters and the world. So I highly recommend you read this book, it’s a fun easy read and you will fall in love with everyone. This author has done quite with the dialogue in my opinion, and it’s just gotten better with each book. I’m not sure if there will be more books but I will read them if there are.

Awesome new addition to this series! Bridges has such an extraordinary inventive mind that I not possibly have predicted where her storytelling would take us. I was blown out of the water with how cleverly the plot unfolded and how invested in the story I became. I also love a strong female heroine and Yesenia is perfect…strong, resilient, and oh so brave. Cyanos of course is yummy and the romantic scenes are scorching. Download and enjoy readers❤️❤️❤️

A good story for Cyanos and Yesenia

This is book three and it’s a good one for twists. It’s seems that all that happens here has been culminating from the previous books. On one hand we have Cyanos who is a warrior but a good hearted person with true empathy for others in trouble. Cyanos sees Yesenia about to be torn apart and jumps in to save her without thought to his own safety. This is where their journey begins. . . . Read On!

My feelings on this book are so mixed! I loved it because it is so good...the writing, the characters and the storyline are outstanding! But it is the last book of the series which makes me sad. Miranda is such a good writer I never want the story to end. Her world building is spectacular, I can see what she has created. I recommend this book highly. 5+ stars all the way!

An Interesting Read

I truly enjoyed this read; mainly because I had almost completed a series and was desperate for a new subject of interest. I am happy to say that this book did just that. How interesting it was and all the drama involved in different species finding love and being so right for each other.

Love 💘 this series

I really love this series and a little sad to see it end, but I'm excited for the next series -The Silas. Yesenia and Cyanos are my favorite 💑 and well matched. That twist when she went back in time to save him was something i was not expecting to go as it did. Really interesting and hold you until the end.

Cyanos and Yesenia are an awesome couple and they certainly have their share of ups and downs along the way. Miranda has given us a page turner but you need to read it yourself! As always Miranda Bridges is has given us an incredible conclusion to this series. I wrote my review here because the book did not bring up the review page.

Spin off not withstanding, I would have liked a better conclusion to the series. It seemed these books were able to maintain a background plot without anything actually happening to move that plot forward. Regardless, for a shifter or alien romance, I found it creative and fun. Fun, Sexy Series

So far, books one through three have been a fun series to read with the smart and sassy women. While all three books are good, my favorite story is book three. The sex is as hot as the hunky alien males. But it's the telling of the whole story that makes these books exotic love stories.

Fantasic!

An amazing alien abduction shifter war story that starts tragic but quickly turns into a romantic revolution! Bridges has everything here, the sassy, witty, sarcastic, sunshine, hopeful herione and the overprotective, broodingly grumpy mate. While the revolution isn't over you do get a glimpse of their future happiness so no horrific cliffhangers!!

Good stories, but....

This was a new author for me and I enjoyed the series, but I didn't like the ending of this one. Where is the resolution, the war and ending?! I hope it doesn't bounce around through the species too long before an ending

AWESOME Again 😁

This series continues to amaze me with all the ways humans can make a difference in this universe 😉. This time one of the women takes on time travel to make up for causing damage to a male's wings 😃. Thanks again Miranda, I can't wait for the next story 🤓.
