Well this was a slightly different look at the ZOO series.

We have Captain Juno Kalandros, with her crew of two: Rameses Algeroth, a former Slump fighter, and Petty Officer Pietr Ludovski, who are the complete crew of Juno's Spaceship Odysseus.

The story opens with the team being paid to bring an errant heiress back to her family but, as the girl vigorously objects to it, they end up having to put her into stasis to take her back home.

A little later, she hires people to track them down, to pay for their treatment of her but, as Rameses was hired by Juno for his fighting skills, this wasn't too much of a problem.

But, when the girl starts using Lawyers to get at them, they decide to go as far away as possible, where Rameses can return to his old job, to go back for just one fight, so that the team can earn the money to pay for their own Lawyers.

This decision takes the crew on the adventure of their lives, and in meeting people that might change things for them all!

I really enjoyed this story , and took to the three main characters straight away, so I'm hoping the rest of the series will let me learn more about them all.

But, as I'm reading these ZOO books chronologically, my reading list tells me that the next book on my list, is the first book in yet another new series, for me: One U.G.L.Y. Marine: 'Wake Him Up'.

So I'll be going straight on to start reading this, and I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think about this new book!

Good Beginning To a New Series

This book was not quite what I thought it would be, but it turned out to be a good story anyway. I enjoyed the camaraderie between the captain and her crew. I also liked the story twists that Lady Shred brought to the crew. I look forward to the next book.

Fun start to a series

This was a fun start to a series. The main characters were a blast, there was a lot of action , and interesting locations that they visited. I am glad to see that this is just the first book in a series, as it will be a lot of fun to watch the back stories of the characters fill out more. I recommend this book.

An excellent start

Action from start to finish! Between collecting a wayward teen brat to intervening in an interstellar war, saving a princess while dodging death on all sides, life has no time to get boring!

Excellent!

A welcome return to the author's early style. If you can use early to describe something that began only 6 (?) years ago. I'm looking forward to the next book to continue the fast fun roller coaster ride!

I really liked the main characters in this book. The crew members were slightly underdeveloped, especially the captain.

I look forward to the 2nd book. I'm thinking more of characters' backgrounds will be explained. As usual, Michael has written the first book of another great series.

Good character interactions

Fun read for Summer, and a nice tasty sequel starting so we can come back. I enjoyed the complex settings with unknowns abounding.

Interesting

Took a but to hook me but when it did I was totally hooked! The crew of three work together to extract their clients any way they can. Things can get very interesting!
