3.5/5 So now I've watched the anime, read the first light novel, and read the first manga for Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear. All that and I still think it's only OK. It's cute and it's whimsical. It's fun enough to see you through. However I am not having much luck with manga based on light novels. They just seam to be to rushed and quick. It's over in 30 minutes and that's a little too short for a $8-$10 price commitment.
This covers roughly the first half of the first light novel. Maybe 2 episodes of the anime. It introduces the characters and world well enough it's cute but there isn't a ton of depth. Not a waste of time but there are better things out there. My recommendation is to give the anime a try for a few episodes and if it's something you like check out the light novels.

I actually really liked this. It’s an isekai following Yuna who is obsessed with her virtual MMOs to the point where she doesn’t go to school anymore. She logs on one day and is transported to a fantasy world with only some adorable bear gear that’s way over powered!
Honestly, I prolly would have the same reaction as Yuna if I was transported into a fantasy realm. SWEEEET.
I really liked the art and the plot of this one and I look forward to more volumes!
Edit 10/3/21: volume 5 ended by introducing what I think will be the main conflict. It took a while to get to this point but Yuna’s adventures are worth it! Another good volume!
Edit 8/1/23: I wonder how the plot is going to be if Yuna destroys everything so quickly. There seems to be no challenges for her. Interested in seeing her go against something that is not so easily defeated.

kuma kuma costume is so cute 🥺 storywise it is close to SAO. first volume ending is good, makes reader wonder what comes next. overall a fun and chill manga to read

J’ai appris en le lisant qu’il y avait un anime et autant vous dire, après ces deux tomes ultra-mignons, je pense me jeter rapidement sur son adaptation !
Yuna est âgée de 15 ans. Elle est tellement passionnée par les jeux vidéo qu’elle ne fréquente même plus l’école. Elle gagne sa vie en gérant des actions en bourse et consacre le reste de son temps à un jeu de réalité virtuelle. D’ailleurs, une nouvelle mise à jour a été mise sur son jeu préféré. Elle le lance aussitôt et on lui offre quelque chose : un costume d’ours.
Après quelques questions de la plateforme plutôt étrange, elle peut enfin jouer et voir ce qu’à apporter cette mise à jour. Pourtant, elle va rapidement comprendre, que cela n’a rien à voir avec le jeu qu’elle connaît, qu’on l’a réincarner dans un autre monde et que le costume d’ours est quelque chose qui lui permet de combattre et d’avoir des compétences de fou !
J’ai adoré ce titre, j’ai vraiment frôlé le coup de cœur, pour une seule et unique raison : le côté mignon de l’histoire. Son costume d’ours et tout ce qui l’entoure est vraiment adorable !
Pour ce qui est du reste, cela reste un isekai plutôt classique. Elle est réincarnée dans un monde, elle n’est pas malheureuse parce qu’elle n’avait rien qui la retenait dans son ancienne vie. Elle s’adapte et essaye de vivre comme elle peut au quotidien.
Ce que j’ai aimé ici, c’est suivre le personnage et découvrir en même temps qu’elle, les capacités que son costume d’ours lui offre niveau après niveau !
En bref, un titre classique, mais mignon et adorable. Ce qui est clairement un argument très puissant pour pousser certains à le lire j’en suis sûre ! 😉

Reading this as April's book of the month. Well it's a bit silly but silly is good. Nice light hearted story so far east to read and was fun way to spend some time.

This wasn’t awful, but it was a bit far-fetched, especially considering how super-powered Yuna’s bear suit is. I just can’t see how this story became so popular that the light novel series is in the double digits. Japan, what Kool-aid are you drinking?

Alors ce titre, c’est un manga que j’attendais avec énormément d’impatience t que je voulais tant lire! J’avais vraiment envie de découvrir cet isekai qui avait l’air tellement mignon avec cet ours. Maintenant que c’est chose faite je ne suis pas déçue de ma lecture. Bien qu’il ne révolutionne pas le genre de l’isekai, ça reste un titre vraiment absolument génial à découvrir. J’ai vraiment adoré ma lecture, j’avais à peine terminé le premier tome que je me suis jetée sur la suite immédiatement.
On va suivre le personnage de Yuna, une jeune fille de 15 ans. C’est une véritable passionnée de jeux vidéos. Si passionnée qu’elle ne va même plus à l’école et qu’elle se terre dans un appartement qu’elle loue grâce à l’argent qu’elle gagne avec ses actions en bourse. Oui tout ça à 15 ans. Un jour, en se connectant à son jeu; elle reçoit en cadeau un costume d’ours surpuissant. Et pas de bol pour elle, elle ne peut ni le vendre ni s’en débarrasser. elle ne peut que le porter. Elle se retrouve donc propulsé dans un autre monde vêtue de ce costume d’ours.
J’ai vraiment beaucoup aimé cette histoire. Un isekai terriblement mignon avec ce côté ours et en même temps un isekai où on a de l’action avec une héroïne légèrement badass sur les bords. Dans ce premier tome on nous pose les bases, on nous présente le personnage principal, le monde dans lequel elle est réincarnée. Nous découvre pourquoi elle y est justement réincarnée. Yuna est une jeune fille qui est complètement accro aux jeux vidéos. Si bien qu’elle a carrément pris un appart toute seule pour pouvoir vivre en paix et jouer autant de fois qu’elle en a envie. Se retrouver dans un nouveau monde n’est donc pas un malheur pour elle. comme rien ne la retient dans son monde, vivre ici ne la dérange pas forcément. On découvre toutes les choses en même temps qu’elle et ça c’est très appréciable. C’était comme si on y était avec elle. Son costume d’ours est aussi mignon que loufoque. Elle doit se balader dans cette tenue et ne peut s’en débarrasser. Mais en même temps ce costume lui offre une protection et une puissance maximale! Elle arrive a faire certaines choses dont les aventuriers renommés n’arrive pas eux même. J’ai beaucoup aimé son personnage d’ailleurs, elle n’hésite pas à aider les autres. D’ailleurs, on fait la connaissance de Fina, une jeune fille qu’elle va rencontrer. C’est une jeune fille très touchante et j’aime beaucoup l’amitié qu’elle noue avec Yuna.
Ce premier tome si je devais le résumer en un mot je dirais : adorable. Parce que oui, même si elle déteste son costume, on ne peut nier qu’il est terriblement mignon et adorable! Un isekai classique mais qui est hyper intéressant à découvrir. L’univers est parfaitement bien travaillé. L’histoire est intéressante et suivre Yuna dans sa nouvelle vie dans son nouveau monde est très intéressant. Ce premier tome arrive à nous happer et ce dès les premières pages. On passe un excellent moment avec Yuna et son costume d’ours tellement mignon!

Il y a plusieurs points positifs qui rendent cette série attachante (j'ai lu les 10 premiers tomes).
L'héroïne Yuna. Une jeune surdouée de 15 ans, qui a du mal avec les relations sociales, et qui fut délaissée par ses parents (ce qui l'a forcée à se débrouiller). Elle garde de cet abandon une sensibilité particulière à l'égard des enfants et cela fonde ses actions par la suite: elle veut leur bien et elle est prête à beaucoup pour qu'ils soient heureux.
Les ours. Non seulement Yuna doit garder son costume d'ours pour être surpuissante, mais quand elle forge quelque chose en forme d'ours, c'est toujours plus solide! Un sort de feu, une maison, des statues, des ballons... Et c'est MIGNON! D'une cutitude extrême! C'est certainement l'un des meilleurs aspects de cette série et ça explique aussi pourquoi la version adaptée en manga est irrésistible!
Les enfants. Ils sont partout autour de Yuna. Étant donné qu'elle les aide et reconnait leur valeur, ils sont reconnaissants et ils l'adorent. En plus, ils aiment les ours (évidemment!) Leur présence amène une belle fraicheur.
Les situations. On ne lit pas cette série pour les combats (Yuna va gagner, on le sait, et c'est drôle de voir comment!) On la lit parce qu'il y a beaucoup de problématiques bien présentées et plutôt réalistes: un orphelinat abandonné, des bandits qui ont pris des otages, des femmes traumatisées qui ont besoin d'un refuge, des adolescents en formation trop sûrs d'eux et se mettent à risque... À chaque fois, on montre comment la présence de Yuna, toujours sous-estimée au début, arrive à les guider vers la meilleure version d'eux-mêmes. Elle ne s'impose pas, elle rechigne toujours à être à l'avant, mais elle a grand coeur. Ce qui est un formidable moteur pour les gens qui la rencontrent.
Les courtes histoires à la fin. Chacun des tomes offre un texte de quelques pages à la fin. On y raconte une des situations du roman, mais par les yeux d'un autre personnage. Ces très courtes novellas sont charmantes, elles aussi, et rappellent que Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear vient de lightnovels.
Une très jolie série à conseiller à tout âge, avec du mignon, des succès atteints grâce au courage et à la générosité, avec quelques notions d'économie et de politique en prime!
À noter: la répétition du titre s'explique bien quand on découvre les deux familiers de Yuna: un ours noir et un blanc. Le mot "kuma" signifiant "ours", on a donc trois ours ensemble: Yuna et ses deux ours.

A pretty decent and laid back isekai, with some fun characters.
Art: Nothing too special, it seems a bit limited however. The panel composition is pretty good I noticed some experimentation between angles the characters are drawn (profile, back, front). Tha character design is pretty good too, everyone looks unique to the story. The characters are even drawn cutely or detailed and rough I also noticed.
Characters: The first volume focuses on Yuna and Fina mainly, with some side characters coming in towards the end. Yuna at first seemed like she was gonna be an unlikeable asshole, as she seemed to be cynical to everyone. But once she dons the bear suit, you see an actually caring side of her and it's very sweet that she looks out for Fina. Fina is also a good character, you feel bad for her and want her to make it in the world despite her circumstances. They also have a sweet sister bond. I wasn't expecting a wholesome friendship like that in an isekai lol. Back to Yuna, I think she's a pretty good isekai protag, she has an actual personality and a bit of a backstory that blends well with the overall story and why she's chill with this whole thing. One could argue she's a mary sue but the thing is she got a max level item basically, so it makes sense.
Story: For an isekai which are usually bland and trope-filled, it has a good story so far. There's no demon lord to defeat (at least rn I hope), or other isekai tropes I can find. It's a really fun start to Yuna's journey. I also liked how the world is different from Yuna's game, as it makes her a stranger to it. She's still figuring everything out. The world itself while not full of worldbuilding and lore, is passable. I do like the world for the colorful characters that populate the village. I love the magic too, it's bear themed and I think that's super fun. For the story itself like I said it's fun and I think it sets up for some possible character dev.
If you like isekai or cute fantasy give this a go.

D’abord en train de jouer un jeu, elle finira une quête qui lui fera gagner un costume d’ours (mignon, mais ringard). S’en suit des questions un peu bizarre, et pouf ! Welcome new world ! Comme vous l’aurez deviné, elle se retrouve donc dans un autre monde… avec cette tenue hors du commun et qui donne lieu à de nombreux quiproquo… en plus d’être complètement cheaté.
Même si ce costume est celui qu’elle possède au départ, rien ne l’empêche pour autant de le retirer. Mais comme elle n’a pas d’argent et d’autres alternative dans ce premier tome, elle le garde (surtout qu’il l’aide pas mal au final). Ce costume l’aidera à résoudre pas mal de problème, mais lui en donnera également pas mal aussi ! Avec le premier tome, on a un bref résumé des capacités de son costume, mais peut-être que celui-ci est évolutif et changera donc avec le temps ?
D’un point de vue caractère, on peut dire que l’ours convient bien à l’héroïne qui est du genre casanière… Et personnellement, je trouve l’idée assez sympa, elle peut plaire ou non et ainsi peut-être toucher un nouveau public.

Même si ce costume est celui qu’elle possède au départ, rien ne l’empêche pour autant de le retirer. Mais comme elle n’a pas d’argent et d’autres alternative dans ce premier tome, elle le garde (surtout qu’il l’aide pas mal au final). Ce costume l’aidera à résoudre pas mal de problème, mais lui en donnera également pas mal aussi ! Avec le premier tome, on a un bref résumé des capacités de son costume, mais peut-être que celui-ci est évolutif et changera donc avec le temps ?
D’un point de vue caractère, on peut dire que l’ours convient bien à l’héroïne qui est du genre casanière… Et personnellement, je trouve l’idée assez sympa, elle peut plaire ou non et ainsi peut-être toucher un nouveau public.

Yuna is an independently wealthy gamer thanks to applying her gaming skills to the stock market. She is starting a new game, but it is a bit different from others. She finds herself in a bear suit that has crazy abilities but makes everyone look at her very strangely. She's not sure if the suit is worth wearing or not, but a run-in with wolves and the local guild in a nearby village help her make up her mind.
I really, REALLY wish I had book 2 right now. This one ends in a bit of a cliffhanger (ok, a LOT of a cliffhanger). You feel for Yuna. Her parents are obviously not great, but at least her grandfather is in the picture somewhat. The premise of the story has a little twist on A Christmas Carol/It's a Wonderful Life type theme minus Christmas and set in a virtual reality MMO. It looks like this manga is actually an adaptation of a Japanese novel series of the same name and the author worked on the manga adaptation. The secondary students I work with are completely obsessed with manga, so the more I can provide for them the better, and this one actually seems to have an interesting plot line. Hand this to gamers and manga lovers.
Notes on content: One or two minor swears if I remember right. No sexual content. (The main character takes off the bear suit to bathe at one point in the game and it shows her underwear but they are pretty modest, no worse than a modest bikini.) There are video game battles, but the only thing killed are nasty wolves (and it is pretty much just implied with xs for eyes and not really any injuries shown...though it does talk about butchering them to sell the meat).

OMG I love this!
This is such a cute story. That bear girl, wow she's powered up! That little helper girl is just adorable. Reminds me of my younger daughter. So helpful, kind, thoughtful, & wise beyond her years. I really am enjoying this series so far. So much so, that I intend to pick up the light novel series, as well. But that will have to wait for tomorrow, as it's late here & I'm ready for bed. Spending all day playing video games, reading manga & comics, listening to music, & drinking iced coffees really tires a guy out. LOL. I don't play the stock market like Yuna does, but I'm definitely independent & well-off. So much so I don't have to work. Thankfully, my family doesn't mooch off me like Yuna's parents do her, as my folks are even more financially independent than I am. When I get to Heaven, I must be sure to thank my Papa for being so smart as to buy a very large amount of land in SE North Dakota back in the 40's, that today sits on the largest oil field on Earth. My Papa was one shrewd man, let me tell you. OK, enough about me. The point is I totally relate to Yuna, as her life is very similar to mine. I was out of my parent's house when I was 14, too. Yuna, it was when she was 15. She's smart, savvy, & likes to play video games. I totally know how that feels! Now if only I could put on a VR headset & get sucked into Farming Simulator 19 - No Man's Land, or maybe Gun, Black, Super Neptunia RPG, Uwars, or MOH - Frontline...

Light Novel uyarlaması olduğunu öğrenince bir şeyler yerine oturdu. Bu tür uyarlamalarda benim en çok sezdiğim sorun tempo oluyor. “Biraz hızlı mı gidiyor?” diye düşünürken buluyorum kendimi. Hikayeye gelirsek fazlasıyla tipik bir iseaki gibi gözüküyor. Kendini çok ciddiye almayan ama komik olma uğruna cıvık da olmayan bir hikaye sunuyor. Video oyununa sıkışan bir genç kızın hikayesini video oyunlarıyla fazla arası olmayanların da anlayabileceği şekilde anlatıyor. Çizimlerinin çok özel bir yanı yok fakat karakterler çoğunlukla tatlı. Ana karakterimiz belki ilerleyen sayılarda biraz daha kişilik kazanır. Şu ana dek biraz fazla yüzeysel bir görüntü ortaya koydu.

This was a very bog standard isekai with a generally silly element thrown onto it to try and make it stand out from the crowd. I will admit that the bear suit is different, but down at its core, it is still a fantasy isekai so you can probably throw a stone and land on what it is all about and what happens. I'll also give it credit for not being reincarnated after death into an isekai world or summoned by said world. However, it is still the third option, a video game to alternate fantasy world as selected by god pipeline. Overall not really interesting enough to prompt me further along with the story.

I read this becaiuse a friend who also watches anime brought it to brunch, I read through the whole thing waiting to see why he thought I needed to see this one in particular; and I'm afraid I'm stumped. I don't even read the manga for the anime I watch. I came to the conclusion that he gave it to me because he somehow ended up with it and he wanted to get it out of his house. The book was fine. i won't hate on it. I just hope the next time he is in posession of a manga he doesn't want to keep, he takes it to a used bookstore. Oh well, it was an easy way to add to my year's count.

3.5 - This was pretty cute. It’s your typical gamer iseki, but heavily influenced by bear merch.
I liked the art and premise. The story is decent but not super amazing. The main character is a little unbelievable at times. Some of her reactions aren’t quite what a real life 15 year old gamer girl would be.
I did like the adorable bear onesie and shoes. The bear puppets/gloves are a little creepy though. They were trying to go for sweet but they missed the mark.

I thought this would be a very cute and easy read judging by what other people have said about this series and the cover. However, I was surprised by how much I actually really enjoyed this volume. I absolutely adore Yuna and thought she was very charming and cute. I love that she's independent, thinks for herself, doesn't care what others think or say about her, and just does her own thing. You don't see that a lot with female characters in manga these days!!!

Yuna is a gamer pulled into a world from "god" where she takes on adventurers tasks and meets new people including a young girl named Fina who carves out materials from defeated monsters. After getting her adventurers ID, she runs into a group in need of help to defeat some goblins.
It's a funny little story. Alot of comedic bits, but if you've watched it, then it feels repetitive. I watched the anime last season and it was just as good.

I have seen (and enjoyed) the anime of this series so I was happy to read the manga and I'm so glad I did! Not only is the art fabulous, but the manga gives more details and clarifies the timeline of events. It makes for a much richer story. Plus, the manga includes new information on Yuna's background in the real world that Kumanano wrote just for this iteration. I look forward to finding/reading more of the manga for this series.

Not quite sure where this one is going. It’s an isekai with girl in a OP bear suit. Mainly cute, sometimes violent but now in a graphic way. Mainly she’s an apathetic character, a little embarrassed about her outfit, but willing to utilize it to maximize her survival in this world.

I don't typically read a lot of manga, but I asked my 13yo for a recommendation - and I couldn't be happier with this one. The art style is adorable and the story is super cute, too - Sword Art Online vibes but way more adorable. Is this an anime? I need this to be an anime.

I watched the anime before I started reading the manga. I have to say, the manga does a much better job of explaining the backstory and how our character got into the game and stayed there. The art is good, the story is good, I would recommend reading this one. There is some violence but overall, it would be good for many age groups.

I like bears
I liked the bear outfit and easy going nature of the character, it's charm is obviously the bears. If I had a complaint it would be that there wasn't enough bear side characters to support the bear heroine, but it was still beary good.

A teen girl who loves video games finds herself eager for a new patch for her game. The only problem is that she's sent to a new world that is very similar to her game. The development of the game world is great with the graphics lending to the story.
