En réalité, c’était le première fois que j’ai lu un livre de ce genre, ça-veut-dire historique. La seule raison pour laquelle je l’ai acheté, c’était pour pratiquer un peu la langue française.
Quelle était ma surprise ! Ce livre m’a plu énormément et je me trouve vraiment intéressé de ce sujet après l’avoir lu.

I don't know why reviews below are so negative. The book is written very well, author emphasizes the main points of Napoleon's life. His style of writing is very clear and interesting. It was very motivational book for me. Great book about great man

Биографичното проучване „Наполеон Бонапарт“ на Алберт Манфред е книга за любителите на историята и влиятелните личности в нея. Дава много добра представа за Наполеон и събитията през неговата епоха. За едни е велик пълководец, за други диктатор, за трети дезертьор, възхваляван и плют, Наполеон си остава най-влиятелната личност на 19 век, който често е сравняван с Цезар и Александър Македонски. Но каквито и да са били тези хора като Наполеон, преди и след него, не са разбрали нищо от историята и предшествениците си. Можеш да завладееш със сила много държави, но не можеш да ги държиш постоянно в подчинение, ако ги мачкаш и не зачиташ свободите им. Всички империи рухват рано или късно.

I started reading this book a few years ago and 150 pages was sick of it. I decided to give it one more chance - 100 more pages and I still hated the language used and the presentation :( I don't think I will invest any more time in reading the remaining 400 pages

I am open to suggestions for a good biography of Napoleon

It is written in a very propagandish like style. Couldn't finish the book even despite my love for The Great Man.
Better find another book on the subject.

Konečne som sa predrel cez túto dlhú knihu, napriek jej veku, je to dobrá biografia Napoleona, odporúčam ju, i keď autorove preklínanie Talleyranda a Fouché je vtipné.
