♡ - season 2 review:

this has been, seriously, SO SATISFYING to read. season 2 of this manhwa gives us SO MUCH insight into si-eon, lots of flashbacks to his past.
so now, finally, i understand si-eon!!!
i understand him, and actually me and my abandonment issues can surely relate.

not only that, but the drama is crazyyyyy. a new character is introduced right at the end of season 1, and boy is he something. a loose canon for sure. 😭 i like taehyuk though! i feel like it’s necessary for namwoo to see someone who used to be in his position.
he adds some hot-headedness to the narrative that’s really funny to see.

getting to see namwoo and si-eon’s relationship kinda go through the wringer and then blossom.. 🥲🥲🥲
it’s so cute to see si-eon flustered and clingy. WEARING NAMWOO’S HOODIE?? and when he said, “you’re going to go meet another man wearing the cologne i gave you?”
ahhhhhh ꒰。 › ·̮ ‹ 。꒱
i love messy situations lmao.

also loving how namwoo is growing! the relationship he has with his friends is really cute, especially the hyung he used to have a crush on. (i’m very interested in him and his “girlfriend” btw.. 👀) (like why are you as a man leaving another man’s apartment early in the morning and saying you want to get changed before you go meet namwoo… 🤨)

i can’t wait to keep reading, though i’m pretty sure the end of this season ..
will be coming soon,, (・∩・)

7/4/22 - currently on ch. 76, and i’m really wishing the best for this relationship 🥰, which is a total 180 from how i felt reading season 1 lol.

UPDATE (10/8/22) - i’m all finished! all 86 chapters read + the author’s note! (ෆ˙ᵕ˙ෆ)♡
the progression of this relationship and the character development was seriously beautiful to witness. my only complaint is that it ended so abruptly!
what happened with namwoo’s sunbae and si-eon’s ex? what happened with si-eon and his mom? is namwoo’s relationship with his parents okay? what about his sister—she was joking-not-joking about not approving of the age gap relationship, right?
i’m hoping the author gives us some side stories / a big epilogue! other than that, it was a nice journey. 🥹

♡ - season 1 review:

first and foremost, lee namwoo’s character design is SO PRETTY. the art in this manhwa is really, really nice! (∩˃ ᵕ ˂∩) ☆

honestly, i probably would’ve quit reading this manhwa due to the age gap (just a trope i personally don’t like, nbd) except i really love lee namwoo!!! i found him so relatable.
the financial misery and the inability to accept anything without feeling like i need to give something in return and the emotional closed-offness….. all entirely too real for me. ( ^ ^ ;)
i wasn’t expecting to relate so much to a random manhwa character in an age-gap-sugar-daddy-bl, but here we are!
and so—i couldn’t give up reading.

i really loved namwoo’s sister, eunjung, too! she’s tough and funny, and i hope we see more of her, and their healing sibling relationship. 🥺

as for the love interest…
i appreciate the way si-eon is encouraging namwoo to live for himself and not dwell over the past so much and just accept the love/care he truly deserves, but i can’t help rooting against him for being “unable” to reciprocate romantic feelings.
that in itself isn’t necessarily a problem, but why knowingly enter into RELATIONSHIP AFTER RELATIONSHIP when they all end the same way? he doesn’t seem the type to like games. so what gives? is he just hoping he’ll meet someone one day who wants to be in a situationship for the rest of their life?
i think he owes it to the men he dates to let them know, beforehand!!!!, that he has no intentions on falling in love. that he “can’t.”

i don’t think si-eon is a bad person, but he sucks for not being upfront. (which is crazy because he’s SO bluntly honest when directly asked questions?)
i was expecting this to be more of a sugar baby and sugar daddy accidentally falling in love sort of story, but that’s not what this manhwa is. namwoo is very sincere from the beginning. whereas si-eon is… hard to understand.
again, because i can understand namwoo very clearly, i can feel his fear and apprehension with never quite knowing what si-eon is REALLY feeling.
he has a really particular and peculiar personality that i can’t quite understand. 45 chapters and he is truly still an enigma.

i’m definitely looking forward to reading season 2 to hopefully better understand him.
like, is he aromantic? is it due to trauma?
i just want to understand him. 😭😭

my only other gripe is that there was a bit too much smut for me but, again, that’s just a continuous personal problem of going into explicit bls demanding they give me a riveting plot. 😩

For a story with such a salacious premise, Namwoo and Si-eon’s relationship was surprisingly chock-full of consistent communication, personal development, and healthy boundaries. Although it’s still a rocky road along the way, neither character ever devolved into “red flag” territory, and any disagreements they had were resolved with the utmost respect and care for the other person’s wellbeing.

If you’re not a fan of age gaps, you might skip this one. Or you might find yourself pleasantly surprised. Both characters are consenting adults, and even though they’re in different walks of life, there’s never a power imbalance between them. Even with Si-eon being much wealthier and Namwoo being a broke college student, he never uses money as leverage in their relationship and Namwoo never takes advantage of the money Si-eon happily gives him.

A couple things I didn’t ~love~ were some odd time jumping or just a general jumbling of events toward the end. There’s a pretty big emotional cliff/disagreement the two have, then seemingly in the next moment they’re acting like a happy couple again, having made up, but they don’t come back to that conversation until an odd amount of time later. I also thought that although Namwoo and Si-eon have amazing emotional chemistry, their sexual chemistry was….ok….they clearly communicate that they’re attracted to each other and have so much emotional intimacy that just somehow doesn’t translate in the smut scenes. But maybe that’s just me 😂

*gently holds my head in my hands* when will it be my turn... god.

I got into this story because of the spitting scene (DO NOT JUDGE ME. DO NOT JUDGE ME. YOU GOTTA SEE IT FOR YOURSELF FIRST). I really love the dynamic that they have and how the Ahjuicy is basically the most hard-headed person ever. It raises complex feelings when you read it. The beginning of this will get you so fucking frustrated because these characters are SO bad at realizing their own feelings, but it was done so realistically and once you get past chapter 70 you start reaping the rewards. Once Si-eon realized that he also needs Namwoo and he realized how their love works... oh boy. When that man started getting the badums and the blushes it was so fucking worth the 60+ chapters of his apathy towards his own romantic relationship. I think the portrayal of their relationship felt really authentic and convincing and the way that they dealt with their issues were done well too.

"It takes courage to both love and be loved."

Do read if you enjoy age gap, sugar baby, slow-burn romance (i say slow burn even though they did get together early in the book because.. well. you'll see). I think the romance felt really nuanced, gentle, and lovely. I love them!!! *i say this with barely controlled lust* They're so adorable and cute together :3 The art is SOOOOOO FUCKING GOOD too.

From my months of manhwa bl streak reading I dont think I’ve seen any works that would impact me as much as this. Nothing new I read seems interesting, everthing seems to have no depth compared to this. I dont think I’ve read romance that made me think how I view relationship as much as this. I never met a character that made me understood myself better. This made me realize some unspoken trauma I have with myself. I was so addicted to this manhwa that I slept at 9am just to finish this in one go.

Sieon will always be my roman empire. He’s probably the realistic depiction of avoidant love. I hated him at first, I never understood what his intentions were. Until Namwoo realizes that he’s always been honest, the only reason he’s being suspicious and vague is because he actually dont know what he likes himself.
(When asked if he likes reading books he just answered that the opportunity to have a publishing house just came. Not because he LOVES it. Says that he doesnt have a hate or favorite food but definitely has his preferences as observed by namwoo.)

The way he was confused when Namwoo stayed despite him saying that he will never love Namwoo the way he wanted to. I just felt like he views himself as a worthless person without the material things he gives to his lovers. He believes that without the things he can give he won’t be loveable anymore. I guess the impact of the famillial love he experience reflected with the way he see himself. Because of that everyone eventually leaves him become so natural. His love for books was just shrugged off by his mother saying that he only likes reading to please her.

I really loved their relationship dynamic SO MUCH. they’re such a good representation of mature couple. Especially with the side stories when Namwoo moved in. Or when Sieon was jealous because he went shopping with his friends… GOD! I could go on and on about how good this is and its MADDENING THAT ITS SO UNDERRATED?! How can SA manhwa have so much recognition than this?

Reading things with smut doesn’t faze me anymore. People seem to complain that Sieon never finish whenever they do bed stuff.. you guys don’t understand hes a GIVER! I never felt so understood when I saw Sieon. If gender norms didnt exist, I’ll probably act like him.

I read this really fast. I couldn't help it because I had to get to the end.

Sweet Namwoo is frustrated because he has been working too much. He's lonely as well because of his inability to communicate and his low self esteem stemming from his a history of emotional neglect when he was young.

The one person who cared for him, his sister had to leave him behind to get away from mentally abusive parents and forced parentification. This left Namwoo feeling that he couldn't communicate his needs or he would be left.
He meets Si-eon a man with hidden troubles of his own who only wants to help Namwoo and give him everything he can possibly give him.
Si-eon grew up feeling like his love hurt the people around him and kept them prisoner so he shut it off.

I was angry at Si-eon for a bit. Why doesn't he love Namwoo? Then I had a realization. The realization hit me hard when I had it.

This story causes you to rethink motivations and relationships and gently helped me understand some things about myself more than all the other crap I've been reading which has been classics and other books which are supposed to be good for my mind but don't really live up to the hype. This webtoon is the best thing I've read in a long time.

What pissed me off? The frickin' redhead got to punch Si-eon. I hope the author addresses this in one of the later additions. Si-eon can't just go around telling people they can punch him.
In my head I am making up scenarios of Godzilla stomping on the redhead. I don't remember his name because he pissed me off. Middle finger right at you Mr. Redhead.

""Only you can give me what I want, Namwoo"
"You mean me?"
"Yes. You're all I want. You'll always be what I want and what I need. I love you""

AAAAAAAAAAA, los hermosos llegaron tan lejos😭😭

Tiene tantas cosas muy bien hechas:
- La escritura.
- La historia.
- CONSTRUCCIÓN Y DESARROLLO DE PERSONAJES.

"I no longer want anything to do with freedom. I'd rather be tied up and kept by your side. You've got me all wrapped around your finger now."

- Personajes relatables.
- Manejo maduro de temas.

"A child who grows up looking in the face of despair learns to shrink away so as to stop hurting."

Davvero, DAVVERO, carino.

I found the story very beautiful at first. As someone who would be labeled neurodivergent, I found myself at ease, I felt like I could breathe, given the space to be as I am through this character who was completely honest to the best of his ability. He knew that he desired to care for those who needed him, he liked to feel needed, and he provided that support in a way that he felt comfortable with. He was always honest; he didn't pretend.

On the other hand, his partners although at first only wanting the support that he offered them willingly, grew desperate for more in the name of love. This was something the character didn't feel he could relate to. And honestly? That was enough for me. I didn't need to peel back his layers and see his trauma to justify why he operated the way he did, because I did not find him broken.

Yet, despite how nuanced this character was, the author painted a familiar trope: someone with a traumatic backstory where the experience of "true love" fixes the broken parts. This isn't to dismiss anyone who might relate to how this character operates based on their youth. For better or worse, are we not all shaped by how we grew up? But it seems that traits rooted in childhood are only labeled as "flaws" when they don't meet the expectations of modern society.

The author had a chance to show the mind of those who connect with others outside the traditional concept of love. Instead, I feel as if they decided to water down their true intentions to make it palatable for the masses.

It was funny seeing the different reactions to the type of person he was. People were so eager to burn him at the stake because of who he chose to be, as if there was something so very wrong with him. But the second they saw the backstory that justified his supposed wounds, the audience rushed to show care and affection. It just didn't feel fair at all, and honestly, it disgusted me.

To those who held pitchforks against Si-eon as the monster: his way of being wasn't wrong or broken. It was honest and functional, even if it didn't match what you expect from a relationship.

And to those who saw him for who he was: know that evolution through having one's needs met does exist and can happen. But that doesn't mean he was flawed or a monster before anyone could understand him.

The story was good for what it was, but I feel upset because I know what it could've been.

"You were happy with what I could do for you and accepted me... until you weren't... because your expectations changed."
"They're the ones who needed me at first... But once their needs change, I'm the bad guy.”

"It's all because of so called love. Does doing everything in the name of love make you a saint? Is it not enough to just be there and take care of someone?"
"he'll eventually get exhausted by wanting my love..."
"Since I had nothing when I loved you, I felt pathetic. My love was nothing but a burden to you."

This is so well written - the dialogue in particular. I loved the realistic jokes and dynamics between lovers, siblings, friends... it all flowed so smoothly.

The initial premise is only the first story arc of many as these two characters circle each other and grow as individuals and as a couple. A sugar daddy relationship was always going to be tricky to navigate without giving the reader the ick, but the author does it really well where you never feel like the power is unbalanced. There's also a good number of secondary characters and life events/interests/friends/family outside of the central romance, so the story feels realistic and grounded. The art is good enough to carry the story, but isn't a stand-out feature.

Overall, really well done and I thoroughly enjoyed the humour woven through the story. Lots of twists and turns that keep you engaged without relying on unrealistic miscommunications or boring tropes.

4.5 stars - cutest thing ever. the age gap wasn’t weird or anything but it made their little dynamic 10x better.
i got annoyed w the top a few times bc of how much he was a pushover and just let things happen without fighting back, but i really liked his comeback and how he changed for the better & became more clingy (tbf it did happen really late tho).

i liked how much the top spoiled the bottom, and how they were generally really good communicators. i also really liked how the bottom learned to be happy and comfortable in spending the top’s money, but not in an un-greatful way.

vv cute and smut was pretty hot (kinda wish there was more tho :P)

It took me a long whole to connect to Si-eon and I just felt bad for Namwoo. I’ll admit the first half of this was so sus and icky thag I almost dropped it to never be picked up again. I couldn’t. The art was magnificent and the way the story was structured was captivating and unlike all the others I’ve read.
It was what made me keep picking it up again. I was even ranting about how I didn’t want to continue this book because Si-eon was just cold. I’m glad I stuck to it though. It was a great read all in all.

Masterpiece. A powerful, unforgettable story.
The intimacy, communication, and slow build of trust and love were beautifully done. I’ve never read a story that handles it so bluntly yet truthfully: how you must learn to love yourself first, how it’s possible to both love and hate your parents, and how love itself can take so many forms and can heal you.
The family and sibling relationship felt too real and too relatable.

Aahhhh!

When schoolwork gets rough, webcomics are my go-to source of happiness. A title like 'Love for Sale' definitely sounds like it entails mindless entertainment and drama, and though there is certainly some of both of those things, Namwoo and Si-eon's story proves to be surprisingly meaningful. My only complaint is that the middle few chapters can get a little frustrating, since a lot of Si-eon's crucial backstory is omitted, though once that is resolved this becomes really enjoyable until the end. Overall a really good read!

The characters were all so three dimensional. There were no pointless misunderstandings. Everything felt intentional. I wish we got more of the "side couple". The progression of the story was realistic, and everything was worth it in the end. Overall incredibly well written and worth the read (and possible reread).

ah Si-Eon, my favorite sugar daddy 🤭 *giggles*

i usually don't like age gap romances but this was a refreshing read. i love the character-writing. i did not expect it to take a complex turn in the second-half due to the initial premise, but i love it! just goes to show that you don't need a toxic, red flag top to have an intriguing story.

I thought I would like it more than this.

Season 2: 4.5/5 star
It was so much better compared to the first season, the characters were more three-dimensional.
