کتاب حاضر، کتابی بسیار روان و جذاب و مانع است که به موضوعات فلسفی می‌پردازد. این کتاب در واقع ترجمة فصل سوم از کتاب «فهم فلسفه» است. این کتاب دو بخش دارد، بخش نخست به موضوع‌های نظریة معرفت، فلسفة اخلاق و فلسفة دین می‌پردازد و در بخش دوم از جمهوری افلاطون، تأملات دکارت، ایدئولوژی آلمانی مارکس و انگلس و اگزیستانسیالیسم و اومانیسم سارتر بحث شده است. در پایان هر فصل نیز پرسش‌هایی برای تأمل بیشتر تنظیم شده است. در خلال این بخش‌ها صفات خدا، قضاوت اخلاقی، تمثیل اسنادی، ماهیت زبان دینی، استدلال نظم، استدلال کیهان‌شناختی، ویژگی‌های تجربة دینی و ... مورد بررسی و توجه قرار گرفته است.

Great introductory text. not a cover to cover read for me as it's not really that kind of book. I dipped in and out and enjoyed what I read. The section on practical ethics was my favourite. Sadly, because it's a text following a set curriculum that doesn't include Eastern philosophy, the focus on Western philosophy and Christianity becomes tiring after a while. A wider perspective would have improved it.

This, and the A2 guide, are still some of the best introductions to key concepts - and I'm using them as reference in my degree to this day!

My first introduction to studying Philosophy. A very easy read and a brilliant start if you want to take your first steps into philosophy.
