✅Finding yourself
✅He Falls first

Sadie just lost her mother and husband, and decided to move to an island to find herself. At twenty-six-years-old, she was done with people. Done with relationships, and out with the old. Ready to start her life again. This was the perfect opportunity for her to reset. Living on a secluded turns out to be more difficult than she initially anticipated. She is confronted with bears, sickness, bad weather etc. Sadie has to rely on others and might even find love.

I loved the idea behind the story and I thought that there were some inspiring quotes throughout it. However there were parts that felt repetitive and I found myself skimming.

Favourite Quotes:
“Look at you. You’ve had a river of shit thrown at you and you just keep swimming against the currents of life.”

“The point is that you should be proud of your ability to keep going when the going gets tough. Most people would’ve come out a lot worse for wear with what you’ve been through, but not you.”

“You think I’m strong? Cuz I don’t feel strong. I feel like a broken, frail, pile of shit.”

Sadie is a salmon- no, no the literal kind. She struggles upstream, unable to go with the flow, fighting against the current of life that has dumped so much on her. A young widow, Sadie is done with civilization and men. Everything hurts too much. but she fights on, the only way to struggle through the pain inside by fighting a battle for survival outside, deep. in the Alaskan wilderness. That's where Sadie meets Flip and his daughter, Jenny. There's no way in the world she needs a man, especially not a man with a kid, especially not a man who is still trying to help his ex overcome her addiction to drugs. But life is messy, family is messy, and Sadie keeps on swimming.
For every woman who has had to fight against the tide, who forced herself to keep going... this book is for you. It will touch your heart. You'll hear your own voice in Sadie's. I think Grace Mirchandani is fast becoming my new favorite women's fiction author.

Quick Pacing, Cute Story

I really wanted to love this book. The bones for a good story are here but it felt very rushed and the characters behaved in a way that was unbelievable for their expressed ages. The love story felt more like a lust story until the last few chapters where the characters actually added depth to their relationship. I ended up skim reading a lot because it was a lot of the same: "he's hot, I'm lonely, but I'm too damaged and shouldn't love again. Or maybe I should? I don't know what I want." Maybe if the characters acted more their age instead of like hormonal and emotionally volatile teenagers I would have enjoyed the book more.
There is language throughout and sexual innuendo, but the few times the characters have sex would be considered "closed door" and not graphic. TW: addiction

sweet

This is a really sweet story, and I love the cover. Sadie is an awesome character forced to confront her own self.

I particularly love this premise, because I’ve done almost exactly the same thing myself. It takes place in Alaska out in the wilderness when Sadie decides she needs to leave her crazy life and go be a mountain woman.

Having done the same thing, I can tell you right now, it’s not for the faint of heart. And neither is this book. I absolutely adored it and will be ordering a print copy to keep and reread.

She lost her husband and found out he was cheating when the other woman appeared at the hospital and then her mom died and all she had left was her estranged father in Alaska. She was fed up never wanted to see another man again so she rented a cabin on a remote rock and moved to Alaska. The peace and quiet was wonderful and there was so much to learn. Like don’t forget your rifle when you leave the cabin because there were bears on the island. The only transportation was by seaplane and she loved it but wasn’t sure about the friendly pilot.
Enjoy

Great Narration. New Widow Runs to Rural Alaska

Sadie, a new widow, runs from the possibility of additional emotional loss, by retreating to rural Alaska, only to meet her supply pilot. Narrator of the audiobook, Joria is a great fit for the narration and the voice of the heroine, the primary perspective, giving excellent emotional range to the well performed story.

I sat down with this book in the morning after needing a break and a book. This is the first full novel I have read by her and honestly I couldn't put it down. It is heartfelt, just a little angsty and so wonderful. I finished it in just over a day. As busy as I am, that's really saying something. I let a lot of work go to the wayside during my binge.

I absolutely adored this book. It's about a young woman who moves to a new place to start over, mentally and emotionally. She finds love along the way when she least expects it.

It was just the perfect amount of romance and drama and most importantly, it was so realistic! I really adored Flip. He was so patient, sweet, loving, and overall a wonderful man who had me developing a book crush lol. I wish the characters were described more, from their looks to their personality traits so I could really imagine who and what they were

Wow.📚

Imagine it's your summer vacation which is probably a time to relax and go on easy and casual adventurous trips with known consequences. But what if you are suddenly thrust into a world of supernatural and old secrets?

Mitzi is a 12 year old girl who is about to go on the biggest adventure of her life. She along with her two best buddies, Rose and Finn are going to be unraveling the family secrets where they will find themselves on time sensitive missions and perils unlike anything.

The mysterious secrets burrow deep into their ancestral history with unexpected twists that would leave you flabbergasted. With her parents lives in danger and creeping fears waiting envolope all around, this puzzle was getting bigger and bigger and it's high time they find the right pieces to solve this.

This is the first book in the Mitzi Clarke book series and I think it's off to a great start. The fast paced narration with masterfully carved surprises definitely took me on the adventure that the three characters are in. The author has done a commendable job in putting all the excitement and expanding the story in a fascinating manner. Mitzi as a protagonist will be one of the memorable characters. It was a quick read as i was not able to stop turning the pages to see what happens next. Kudos to the author for having such an amazing creative imagination and putting it on pages for us readers to enjoy as well.

A must read for those who love middle grade fantasy, adventure book series.

I loved this book as a mix of serious and light reading. Sadie’s had a rough year and needs to escape, so she heads out to Alaska not far from where her dad lives. She has to adjust to life in her secluded cabin with no electricity or hot water. Sounds insane, right? Trust me, she has her reasons.

What I liked…
I liked how Sadie starts off a little prickly partly because she’s nervous over her decision to go off the grid but mostly because of the shock she had not long ago. I think it really works to see her struggling at first.
I love how Sadie is honest about being attracted to a couple of men but not being interested beyond that. She needs time alone, but she’s also a woman with eyes so…
I especially love how she’s realistic about what she’s capable of living on her own. She took survival training to help, which she mentions, so it’s not like she just went out to a random island with no preparation. My only question is how did she access her money? 🤣

What I didn’t like…
While I liked Flip, he came across as a little bland at times. I’m putting this down to personal taste rather than an issue with the book. But if you’re like me, and you prefer male characters with a little (emphasis on little) bite to them, then you’ll probably feel the same.

Final thoughts…
Definitely a self-discovery novel as the title suggests. It’s a wonderful mix light and serious and inspiring.

We begin the book with Sadie starting her new life with an adventure to Alaska. She is midlife and ready to start a new life away from the chaos of before. She is done with relationships and people and is ready to only rely on herself.

She is working through the grief of her husband and enjoying his life insurance policy to pay for the newfound remoteness and isolation she has been craving. The story is mostly about her survival and isolation on this remote island, where we learn her strengths and challenges.

Sadie has family issues with loss, and some sorrow associated with her past. Flip the pilot is an unexpected, friendly complication in her life. But their interactions hint at a more of a friends-to-lovers storyline we’ll see?

The story gets steamy in the middle of nowhere, but it is fade to black, sorry ladies, no satisfying descriptions. This book gets heart-wrenching and teary-eyed as she discovers family and love again, and also her own heartbreak. But it gets worse as her new life crumbles before her eyes yet again.

Yup, I’m totally leaking tears over here.

The story ends with her giving up her isolated island for true love and family. It was a cute read and a sweet ending. I love the wild bits of the story and the characters' struggles with themselves and others that get solved.

A fairytale romance in real life isn’t as impossible as we think it is. Sometimes you can find an absolutely stunning, caring, understanding, and loving person in your life who can make everything seem perfect. That’s what happened with Sadie Maxwell. Everything felt heavenly to her. Until one day when her husband died, in the arms of another woman.

The loss was huge but infidelity too didn’t hurt any less. In order to find a way to move on and bring her sanity back, Sadie decided to move to a cabin on an uninhabited island, quite literally. She thought that is what she needs to find herself a life and some motivation to go on with it.

But who would have guessed that among all that loss, there would be a possibility for Sadie to find happiness all over again. Pick up Grace Mirchandani’s Searching for Sadie to find out.

Rating: 4.5/5
Verdict: A journey of finding oneself after losing someone and all the motivation to live on.

You find yourself drawn in and feeling Grace's pain and frustration from the beginning and soon find yourself sucked into her life. You cheer her on as she not only faces life almost completely alone on an island in Alaska but also dealing with her traumatic experiences and losses. Her heartfelt tale ends beautifully but like all of Grace's books beware of boiling water while reading a little more or it might evaporate just a little too much.

Please, give Grace a try, she has multiple genres and is a thoroughly wonderful person. You can thank me later.
